This is my tribute to some of the great rock guitar solos from 1980 to 1984.
Erratum:
Please read: Dave Murray and Adrian Smith for the solos in the
Trooper.
Kirk Hammett and not Hammet...
I played all guitars, bass, keyboards and I programmed the drums with a Native Instrument plugin.
All guitars were recorded with the Kemper profiler.
Bass was recorded with a Neural DSP plugin

It's sad that everytime I turn on the radio, there are no guitar solos anymore
I feel the same way! Guitar solos are the creative expression of a song. I loved how each one could be unique and passionate.
Nowadays they are substituted by rap.
Are you sure you don’t have a rock station in your area? Pretty much everywhere I’ve been had at least one station that had rock on it
@@castinwithcarter8922 I think he meant that today's song writing doesn't include guitar solo any more.
Qiao Hu yeah, you kind of have to dig for that stuff

If I understood right EVH didn’t make any money for the guitar work on “beat it”
The bit that features Alex Lifeson's solo on YYZ brings into glaring relief of just how incredibly and underrated Alex Lifeson truly is.
I used to classify myself as an intermediate guitar player. I think I'm more an advanced beginner after seeing this
Much as these solos are at the pinnacle of rock playing, fast intricate licks aren't everything and many a good solo is simple.
Don't knock yourself, but keep up the joy of just making music. And at the same time be grateful we have so much talent around us.
most of these arent that hard,im sure you could learn alot of these
i used to learn really fast solos and songs at like a quarter of the bpm the song is actually played at and work up from that to half of the bpm and then normal time
it worked well,i highly reccomend it, also learn just how to read sheet music and break these these pieces down.
dont feel distraught if you cant play as well as eric clapton, hendrix, srv, evh or bb king lmao
@@nigelwstacey Early on at around 11 I saw the benefit of keeping my guitars mouth shut. Quantity doesn't always mean quality. Having said that, I'll never scoff at the talent that is Yngwie or Vai, Satch, etc. and others who have the ability to say things with everything they play, regardless of speed. It's always been my goal to emulate and exceed them and see what develops.
@@user-vv1do1wg1j Once you learn the positions, don't play slowly...its a hindrance. Play it as fast as you can. That's what your muscle memory will retain.
@satoru or ichika Nito or Charlie Robbins lol
The best thing about youtube is, it gives you a glimpse of the skill and pure talent of people that might otherwise go unnoticed .
I feel humbled.
well id say talent doesent exist and any skill can be trained...what this guy is lacking is original content, and by that i mean meaningfull original art..truth be told jimi hendrix is a shitty guitarist..well in a certain context...but he was revolutionary in his artform and thats what people appreciate to this day
Well said and agreed ! I been playing since the 60s. from all the venues I've witnessed This is up there in the top ten !
@@elvisosmanovic4846 haha omg and who the fuck are you? I bet you rage at women who wont date you because you think you're too nice!

@@eatsshootsandleaves9100 cuz i never said i was better..im also married..also i never said abnything bad about the guy...but i dont feel humbled watching a person do really good covers
After watching this, this guy gave me the strength to go and pick up my guitar, sit down in front of the mirror, clear my mind, and then say to myself that it’s time for bed...
lol
haha me too! awesome comment...rock on
OMG, crazy isnt it,? I am humbled
I know EXACTLY how you feel. He’s so good, and I need to just get a new hobby
Ya so true..!! ;-( Goodnite...!! ;-)
The beat it solo is so good and one particular part is so sick, I still listen to it repeatedly just to admire it. Rip Eddie.
Has anyone, other than myself, caught on to what this guy is about? Simply put - He's what musicians aspire to be. He's the real deal.
That Michael Jackson Eddie solo was clean as hell. Those harmonics.......
It almost sounded unreal. This guy’s fukkin AMAZEBALLS
Ikr
Parece até fácil.
The Thriller solo is the one everyone always remembers because it's much flashier, but for my money, Hot For Teacher is the one. It's technically more difficult, more cohesive and is much more integral with the song. The Thriller solo sounds like someone showed up in Eddie's living room with a recorder, he plugged in and just played over someone else's music. Which of course is EXACTLY what happened! :-)
@@jim2lane it's beat it :)
The fact that EVH shows up here three times just shows how much that dude owned the 80's....
His Van Halen solos are spot on. This guy was born with a silver guitar in his mouth.
From 70s to 80s, again, awesome, just awesome. Period. End of story.
me: Bro... How many guitars do you have?
He: Yes
He brought his camera to guitar world
He doesn't just deserve credit for his playing, he deserves recognition for how much work it took to make these videos.
Wow - what a great job. On a personal note every song sent me on a trip down memory lane. I'm grateful I grew up in a time when the guitar was so important in music in so many ways. No wonder I love it. Thanks for this.
February 2022 and still haven't found other guitarists who have your skill level because man you can play any genre on the guitar spot on and godly.
This guy inspires me............to throw away my guitars and take up bowling. :(
Yeah no kidding. 😝
Exactly... lol.
Hahaha
That IS funny!
BUT... he should really be inspiring you to become better and as good as you want to be. I see people who are better or great at things I want to do as a source of motivation.
Better idea i think i can do the same
Highest level guitar. Just about the cleanest riffs I have EVER heard.
it's no wonder I'm subscribed to this channel. his accuracy and attention to ever nuance and detail is amazing
I grew up playing 80's music as a drummer. Man, you nailed this stuff. I am a tough critic and always insisted when we played covers that they were played correctly. You would have been a great fit back in the good old days!
What a stunning display of talent, dedication, attention to details, untold hours of practice, excellent delivery all come together to make it look so deceivingly easy.
Erth Mann exactly👍 some would say it’s prerecorded and montage, but he clearly plays the solos great
Amazing. Inspiring and depressing in equal measure,.. 😂
The most beautiful comment I've ever seen on UA-cam!
You put the entire audience thoughts into words
hot for teacher solo. you literally played every nuance, note and inflection of one of the worlds best guitar players...wowza. well done man
and had the tones nailed pretty damn well !
Oh yeah this guy is incredible.
No offense to this video, but this is perfection ua-cam.com/video/ztH7j-Obak8/v-deo.html
This just goes to show how talented and highly developed Van Halen was in his guitar playing throughout the 1980s 🎶🎸😎
@@DarkKhagan And.. someone had to write that incredible riff and solo. That's what separates the musician from all the guitar players.
Your talent is simply insane, great work! Really enjoyed this.
Every once in a while that smile comes through, telling everyone how much fun this really is
Dang, the "Beat It" was no easy task to replicate...
True,, because the great Eddie Van Halen put them together almost 40 years ago. After Eddie found and marked the trail many others were able to duplicate BUT it was he, Eddie who paved the road others can only follow. Music is left to listen to his greatness as GOD decided Eddie Van Halen did as he was born to do,, his work here on Earth was done.
I just realised that almost the whole vid is made of Eddies solos. RIP legend...
3 out of 10, not almost whole.
3 out of 10? My dude, please brush up on your math.
Its simply because Eddie was one of, if not the, greatest rock guitarist that had ever graced the world with his talent.
@@kommi1974 There are 3 solos from Eddie in this video. And 10 overall. What's the issue?
You sound quite stupid.
Gabriel you play great and I know the effort it takes to put these productions together. Fantastic!
The rhythm section of the Jump keyboard solo gets me in the feels. Absolute fire 🔥 Great video lad!
Its crazy how you truly embody the guitarist that you are covering. Style, tone, phrasing. I am blown away at the attention to detail.
Amazing!!!!! This musician is phenomenal!!!
Good Lord... I've been playing for 30 years and I can't touch this guy. So frustrating! What a ripper!
PanteraCFHTexas I know the feeling, 15 years playing for me, but still MILES off this guy, he’s amazingly talented
I know what you mean, 30 years playing I go to UA-cam to find some inspiration and solos to learn and get discouraged by videos like this.
30 years is alot! do you practice with a metronome and do a shit ton of finger and strength exercises? made so much progress in quarantine practicing scale and finger exercises. 2 months can be equivalent to a lifetime with proper practice!
this guy is super talented though too!
Do you know what sarcasm is ahmad
@@hamshobatatis you are correct. Gilbert, MAB both said they made massive skill leaps in short time periods, Gilbert I believe in one Summer. I saw my buddy become a monster in one Summer, progressing from a good player to playing Malmsteen faster than the records, perfectly clean. 3 months of disciplined 12 hour practice days and he gifted himself with monster level skills. It is totally possible if you REALLY want it.
Tremendous work! Note for note, groove, feel and bang on tone. I grew up through all of this. There’s a tonne of iconic riffage throughout the 80s. I’ll check back for more. Truly solid here mi amigo.
Your technique and musicianship to play all these solos are unbelievable!🤗
So whoever didn’t like this is obviously hatin on you dude . Best damn leads covers I’ve ever heard . Sounds just like the original artists . Anyone can play the right notes but to make it feel right , well that’s talent .
I agree!! The only other best cover player on UA-cam is Jacob Deraps, he does the best Van Halen covers, and his tone and playing is spot on. But you were able to nail ALLL of these tones and solos! Very well done!
I honestly believe that anyone who “dislikes” videos like this (or anything remotely similar!!) is just straight up TROLLING; PERIOD.
Let the haters hate bro! You rock!!!!
The 1980’s! The music was great, people were social, and my Jensen triaxial speakers never took a break!
Cassette tapes and Jensen 6x9s in the Camaro. Add a mullet, some acid washed jeans, and a pair of Oakleys and you were hot shit, lol.
Even though I had them, too, I haven't seen or heard the words "Jensen triaxial" in over 35 years. Thanks for the memories.
Now only our media is social.
Sounds just like my Spark-o-Matic cassette deck! Ha Ha Yea Baby!!!!
This was amazing man, great work. Brought tears to my eyes going back to high school listening to all these...
Wow, I'm blown away. Are you really human? That was totally mind blowing. So impressed! Thanks for all the efforts put into the making of this. Cheers, Thor
80's best and gold era of hard rock/ heavy metal music ever...love the era.....👍👍
He just casually plays one of the YYZ bass lines like it's nothing. Impressive work, man.
It's a jam man!
Great solos choice, very well played and man the Beat It solo was just .... NUTS! I keep coming back just to stare with my mouth open wide the whole time, trying to comprehend how the hell you can play it so effortlessly. Amazing!
The crazy train solo is the most accurate I’ve ever seen on UA-cam. Amazing stuff
One of the best guitar players i've ever seen. Congrats. Everything, technique, tone, feeling... 10/10
Proud to be an 80's teen, 70s-80s were the best years.
Outstanding job. Truly enjoyed watching this and going back in time
The Beat It solo... HOLY FLIRKIN' SNOT! The tone and technique were spot on, sir!
If I may... An honorable mention would be practically any solo by Eliot Eastman of The Cars. His solos showed clear advanced technique and incredible feel, yet always remained tastefully appropriate to the song without being boring.
Elliot Easton of course ;)
When the Beat it solo was first played The monitors caught fire
Isn’t the “Beat It” guitar solo an Edward Van Halen performance and creation?
Who the hell gives this guy a thumbs down? Pure tallent.
10,000 points for adding SRV to the list.
Truth.
He sucks, glad he's dead.
PaintHerWhite yo mama
Fuck yeah!!! I was thinking the same... its really hard to label #1 spot with all rubber fuckn AMAZING talent out in the world Past&Present, but, SRV damn he def was special!
This guy is solid and gets it right; both rhythmically and tonally. Impressive.
Without a doubt the best covers snippets ive seen and heard...amazing man
To the 211 people that disliked this video are you F$$king Serious???..One of the few videos taking guitar history seriously and I can watch clearly and pick apart the playing and he is spot on...thank you for all the effort Gabriel!
They're just a few frustrated guitar "players" that can't play shit and just hate...
There may be some songs in here they don't like maybe that's why everyone has different opinions
Joecarvin Nicely put🤘🇨🇦✌️
Damn dude. Damn. That put a smile on my face that nothing on UA-cam has been able to do in quite some time. I am Class of 88 so ALL these songs are tattooed on my brain. I actually was wriggling in my chair during Hot For Teacher and playing air guitar. That was wonderful man.
Class of 88 here 🤘
@@ClearAdventure Cool beans man. We were so fortunate to grow up when we did, ya know it? I don't want to bring politics or social commentary to this place of music, so I will say what passes for music these days truly amazes me. It is so bad that I wonder if rock and pop even have a future.
@@tennesseeridgerunner5992 We are SO much alike in our thankfulness to be born when we were, and also to humbly still be in awe of those players!! I also lived in Tennessee 5 years, just said that because of your name, lol. But bro, screw politics, we know what we had, and we still know. We are incredibly fortunate to be born in a time guitar was more than a hit song, more than getting girls, it was everything to us. An expression of ourselves through all these amazing artists! Nice to meet you by the way, my name is Kevin Venture, and I am starting a guitar channel soon. Wish me luck, brother. 🤘
Blessed be this platform even after all the bad and the good! I go to discover so much music I I never heard before! Thanks!
Great collection of songs, some of my personal favorites to play. Glad I found your channel/video, gives me something to aspire to in my playing as you nail all these songs and parts in them. Fantastic work and showcase of your multi-instrument skills!
This might be the first time I've seen one of these types of videos with basically zero negative comments.
I found ur channel 10 min ago in the 70's. Now I'm in the 80's and I realized that u just uploaded this video. Great job!.
Started with one of my favourites off all time! Thank you friend for showing how it's done💪🏼😎🤘🏼
You just played the soundtrack to my coming-of-age.
You kick ass brah!!! Keep rockin.
Simply the best guitar video on UA-cam. Yes I am 53 thank you very much.
Transition to Toto was magical
That is one of the best UA-cam videos I’ve ever seen, and I believe I’ve watched over 100,000 in the past decade. Dude! You rock!
Quite honestly, one of the best guitarists on YT. And my personal fav. Rock on Gabriel!
God called... he wants his guitar playing abilities back

He is Very Good!
Don't say that , you don't know that you say

Absolutely blown away by the talent, thanks for the memory trip, love the 80's Rock
To play all those guitar heroes with so many different styles is really impressive! Wow! 👏👏👏
I'm speechless, my friend. You are amazing!!
This is awesome, what’s sad is few singer’s / artists today even know how to play an instrument, and even fewer bands have any type of solo instrument part. The 80’s will live as the best music decade ever, rock on!
Jetwash ! Why constrain yourself to just one decade add the 60s-80s together to get the best music the world has seen sense the classical period ended
The early 80's. Graduated in 82 and remember running to the stores "buying" these bands cassette and cursing our country roads partying with stereo full blast. Gezz where has time and rock gone ?
De lo mejor hermano , felicidades , super video . Reviví aquellas épocas con tu super virtuosa ejecución .
Bravo!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What an excellent piece of work!!! Every single part was so very well done! You put a lot into that and wow did it come out great!!!
Man! You're nailing everything about these solos so spot on! The feel, the sound, the rhythm... Amazing! 👏👏👏
Your ability and attention to detail are ABSURD! Randy would love the double tracking!
His playing is like all of those guitarists combined and his hands just runs over the fretboard like a river.
Just watched your 70's video and said I'm looking forward to what you did for the 80's and said I hope Randy is there, and he was. Thanks. Your playing is spot on.
The best guitar UA-cam video in a long time. The “To Be Contrinued” at the end was inspirational! Great Job!
I've never seen such a versatile and complete guitar talent... incredible and a joy to behold...
As a rock/metal drummer I AGREE ..this Guy is seriously badass!
He just played Beat it like it was nothing like wtf
The main riff is very easy but the solo is hard
@@datoneboittv9414 Yeah, that was the point of his comment...
I can do it too but on the rhythm guitar with only 3 chords
He plays everything like he wrote it.
did eddie play guitar on that song?
Woah! Dude. That was so diverse and super impressive -- not to mention really inspiring. Bravo!
Unbelievable talent!!! A joy to watch and hear.
Man, you nailed every single of them. I can’t imagine how much time it take. You even do all back instruments like bass and piano .it’s awesome!!!
I seriously need a different hobby when talent like yours is out there. Comming from an old school player YOU ROCK!!!!!!
I love watching videos I watch them over and over studying the patterns and forms
Amazing guitarist. Makes it all look so easy. And plays it all with feeling.
This guy is unreal, i mean how are all of these solo’s so clean?!?!🤯❤️
Omg.
That is what I call skills.
Not a over night thing.
Thanks for the memories.
And for the ones who rock,
Thanks for what you will do.
Xlnt job playing all the songs. Your tones, video production, song selection and memory is awesome.
Just when I thought about Beat it......this guy bangs in with great tone and technical prowess. Love you man.
Why do people dislike this video? Your technique is perfect and every tone is in place, good job
Really impressive how you capture all those different styles with such accuracy. Awesome job.
This was pure joy listening too.. what a talent!!
Great work Gabriel👍🏼 I like that you included some very memorable solos from that era...shred stuff is cool too...but lots of these melodic solos stay with you and serve the song so well. Keep on🎶🎸
One of the best concerts I ever heard. Thanks for posting.
Really impressive man great work!!
I think i know you
You are everywhere😂
You are awesome Niko your work is... is amazing , tanks!!!
@Eligible Gamer sry brother i was talking about niko
You are awasome Niko
Man, what I have noticed is that all your pieces are clean, sharp, they reflect perfectly the melodic line . I have switched to many of original songs, or covers, but in all cases yours were the best, I started to enjoy listening to metal guitar. Thanks! I'll go to your site soon.
Amazing! Those guys who created (and played) those solos are fantastic!
This channel is about to explode
Jon Salama Music Yup, a matter of time.. if he keeps posting content regularly, with a talent like his, it will end up going big.. but he hasn't been steady with his video uploads in the past so.. fingers crossed! 👍 He's awesome
@@baldbearded9601 Pretty sure he's planning on uploading more regularly since the 70's video has gotten so popular! ;)

Incredible timing, spot on feel, nailed the tones, and simply inspiring.
Wow...I've never seen anybody truly nail an Angus Young solo like that. Hats off to you bro!!

What an awesome video A+ to spend the amount of hours of your life to master this one video of the greatest musicians of that era deserves an standing applause!! 👏
