    It should also be noted I got like 5 vials of blood drawn right before this run! (Check out the Athlete Blood Test discount code!). Have to make sure things like Iron, B12, Magnesium, Vitamin D and other hormone profiles/levels (CK, Testosterone) and kidney/liver function are all in optimum ranges with all this high mileage training at altitude....so far so good though!! #VeganAthlete

    Wow the Boulder Res... I haven't been there in many years. Would like to get up there someday. You mentioned having science in some future videos. Yippee! I'm all over that :) I always hope that your podcast will be resurrected and you'll have episodes on running science, nutrition science, training, etc. Of course, I know you're both very busy so not expected anything! LOL I'm enjoying this series, thank you!

    I've been vegan over 10 years and love your channel! Everested twice on my road bike and have future cycling goals. Mountain biker and Muay Thai as well.
    Wanted to run a marathon under 9min pace 3 years ago, signed up for S.F. marathon and ran a 3:54:00 marathon in training, then 3:40 at S.F. then 3:05:24 at CIM. Now I'm close to sub-3 and wanna run sub-3 as goal before primarily cycling goals. Ran a 3:04:41 2023 CIM, then 3:03:50 2024 CIM with marathons in-between, but have considered buying a plan off you since I think you write them out.
    Vegan for the animals, planet, and humanity!

      Search some of my old videos on this channel and you will see at lot of workouts from my time at Hansons. I also wrote a book called "Running With The Hansons" (you can find it on amazon). I'm not much of a writer though so it is more of a poorly written memoir.

    I’ve been watching you channel since 2019. Your training almost got me to Boston my third marathon. Stopped in 2020 and want to get back out. But I feel defeated from thousands of training miles before. How do I get back out and restart. How do you prevent burn out just thinking about going for a run?

      hey great to hear! Star off small and gradual again. Jump back into some fun shorter races like 5km and 10km with no expectations. My college coach always told us "Running is a Lifestyle"....so part of it is for good health (maybe more so for Mental health than Physical even)! Good luck, you got this! Just commit to running for 10-min and see how you feel (often most days you get past 10-min and you can go 20-30min). Stay healthy!

      I know I'm not Sage, but I just went through this last year and thought you may be interested in how that went. I hadn't run since 2020 and started again in November 2023. I wanted to ease into the weekly miles and not try and continue the 50 mile weeks I was doing in 2020. So I followed a half marathon training plan. After that, I took a down week and then started a 50k training plan. Starting small and working up was great as it gave me achievable goals and slowly strengthened my body. At the end I was back to 50 mile weeks and those didn't feel difficult. If you're anything like me then having a plan to follow was key in the beginning because I hate not following through on things I start. Good luck

    how did you move past your fear and start running again after the pulmonary embolism? i am scared to try for long distances and have never even had anything major bad happen to me but just fear that something could.

    • @Vo2maxProductions
      @Vo2maxProductions  2 місяці тому +2

      did you have a pulmonary embolism? I personally had some lab tests done that helped confirm my risk of another one happening to me is probably quite minimal...so that gave me some confidence while running. Lots of hospital testing and more to do still (I'll get a regular ultrasound on my heart probably within the next year again for example). I'd consult a medical professional as this can be very individual.

    Well done! If running a loop, why does your elevation graph on Strava activity keep increasing over the total distance?

    • @Vo2maxProductions
      @Vo2maxProductions  2 місяці тому

      that appears to be an error and I'm not sure what it's from. I've only noticed it when I've done super long long runs in circles in Boulder! So yeah the climbing should not be like that (loop was pretty flat and I obviously started and ended in the same spot). It could be a COROS watch calibration issue when I travel back down to Boulder and/or a sensor on the barometer that is getting thrown off by temperature changes if I had to guess?

    • @thedolenorway
      @thedolenorway 2 місяці тому +2

      It is a barometric elevation sensor which means it estimates your altitude based on air pressure. It works great over the shorter duration, but when air pressure changes over time because of the weather you get this sort of drift. In this case it looks like air pressure dropped interpreted by the watch thinking Sage was moving to higher altitudes.

    • @Vo2maxProductions
      @Vo2maxProductions  2 місяці тому +1

      @@thedolenorway that's a good point (and something I've only noticed on these super long runs where I'm going around in little circles for hours on end....as a regular trail run up and down a mountain would generally reflect that profile more easily). Not to mention in Colorado we get some pretty fast moving weather patterns (and winds) that could drastically alter air pressure in an isolated area relatively quickly.

    What’s your goal for 24 hr? My longest race is marathon distance and I jumped right into 24 hr race after and I held back a lil since it’s my first time racing past 26.2 miles. I ended up 87 miles ! My first ultra , 50k , 50 miler, 100k etc all completed in this race and I’m addicted to this type of race format. I will have to say I only had a handheld because it didn’t want any more weight or shoulder soreness. My first and only 24 hr was on a beveled pavement and lots of sharp turns and caused a lot of knee pain during run but I pushed thru the pain. I was very diligent in listening to my body because I want to be as proactive as I can cuz something small now can blow up later. Def watermelon and popsicles and cooling towel (put ice in it) were life savers. Good luck !

    • @Vo2maxProductions
      @Vo2maxProductions  2 місяці тому

      wow, congrats that's awesome! My first goal is to just try to reach the finish and run the full 24-hours. My second goal is to average 8-min miles (might depend on weather).

      @@Vo2maxProductions omg that’s exactly my goal ! The 24 for me was to test my mental capacity for being awake (without caffeine) for 24 and my running partner’s goal is to get past 80 so we aligned both goals together and ran the whole way thru . I was def not as fast as 8 min miles lol best of luck and I can’t wait for some live updates

      @@tri0xin Yes that is correct. COROS armband appeared to be reading accurately and you can all the data on Strava as the run progressed/when i stopped for the bathroom etc. 127bpm average for the 38-miles. I honestly was hoping for a lower HR, but with the slight wind gusts that day and less blood then normal I'll take it (for now!).
