Wow, what an encouraging message, Jags! I think you hit all the points. People need to face the fact that subscriptions are what is happening now, whether we like them or not. Things cost money. Also, I am far from a good modeler or sculptor, but I truly enjoy sitting down with ZBrush and practicing, all the while learning and getting "outside my box". Thanks for a great video.
I am getting an iPad just for Zbrush. What iPad do you have, but more specifically what is the processor? M1 M2 or A14 or A12 My main concern is accidentally getting an iPad that can handle the app (Zbrush)
I have the apple Ipad Air 9th Generation. I think I got mine in 2020. It's definitely old. My best friend got the Ipad Pro with 512 gb and 8gb of ram and it FLIES. If you plan on doing super dense sculpting, maybe get the 16gb version but that's going to be almost $2k. Honestly, any of the modern Ipad Pros will get you in the right ballpark.
You don’t need a recent iPad for sculpting apps in general. Yes, it will be sluggish at really high model resolutions but you shouldn’t be doing that in the first place, even with higher-end iPads and computers. These apps use traditional game engine features that are practical and very efficient with hardware resources due to advanced APIs like Metal, DX12 and Vulcan.
Shoot for an m1, 2021. Then you can go for more storage., which you will need. I get all my phones, my iPad, even laptops on a site called Swappa. Guaranteed not stolen. Really awesome.
You're making the wrong argument. People are not complaining about things costing money, they're complaining about everything being a subscription. Moreover, many of these subscriptions are forcing you to make an annual commitment and/or makes it incredibly hard to cancel (cough Adobe cough). It simply defeats the entire purpose of what subscriptions were meant to accomplish (ease of use, affordability, paying only as long as you're using). Like hell, at this point I'd gladly pay for a perpetual license and only see return on investment in 2 years of subscription, then use the software for maybe 2 months in total in the time. And I'd still think it's worth it because it's on MY terms and at my own pace.
fair point on the annual vs. monthly. I typically do monthly subscriptions even though it costs a bit more so then I can turn on /off. Like, for example...I'm not subbed to Disney+ right now but I will if a new Mandalorian season releases. Generally, I have found that I know myself so I don't lock into annual subscriptions anymore and I try to not fall prey to the scarcity mindset of saving money later. I definitely made that mistake with the latest Warcraft subscription. Bought a year but now I don't really touch it anymore. So yeah, i agree it's kinda advantageous of big companies to add so many upsells to the annual year that it feels "worse" to not get the full year but I have realized that I have commitment issues. So I'd rather acknowledge that and be patient with myself :P
this isnt really a review.. the only review aspect is that its easier to use and get into than the pc counterpart. not the why or how its better. then you go on a rant to defend subscription services.. which i dont disagree with your point mind you, just that titling the view as review is a little misleading and isnt very helpful to someone who wants to know more about the software. this is a vlog or video essay about your thoughts and opinions of the software at best. i already know about the costs and want to see how it functions to see if it is going to be worth the cost for ME. your subjective opinion on the matter without any explanation of your rationale is not very helpful. reviews by nature should help viewers make an informed decision. this video is more like a trust me bro or you dont have to buy it if you dont like it man. the rant to relevant info ratio is just a little mismatched. that said, you have a great physique and have pretty good energy! sorry if this comes off mean but its my honest reaction feeling like ive been click baited. whatever it is, i hope this isnt too offensive. your video editing looks great! just hope that if your do reviews in the future, it would contain more user experience stuff, what you like what you dont like, where you got stuck or where its super helpful. i know you had some in here but the ratio of it man.. anyways this has gone long for long enough, hope this didnt ruin your day! sorry! your arms look really good! haha cheers!
Thanks for the feedback :) You're not wrong, my thoughts here are a bit more surface level so i'll consider using more helpful titles in the future. Thanks for watching, my friend :)
