Thanks for the video!
I just bought this camera and have already transferred footage to Vegas via the USB connection to the Canon XF Utility. I just dragged the MXF file to Vegas and I'm rolling. I am using Vegas Pro 8.
The footage is exceptionally good.
Do you need a self power lapel mic with its own baterries to use the 3.5mm jack or can you just plug and play any lapel mic?
Well, the test shots are progressive.
Thanks so much for this video! I love this camera, but there is one thing that makes it almost unusable for me, regarding the zoom - I wonder if you or anyone can help me with this? I like to use "manual focus", and I focus the old-school way - zoom right in, focus, then zoom back out. I like to use the "Grip Rocker" for zoom, but I am finding that it is way too slow for me, even when I set it to the fastest speed of "16". Don't suppose there is a way to increase the speed of the Grip Rocket beyond this?
I have the the EX1 and Canon XF100.
The EX1 has the better front end and the Canon the better back end.
I am thinking about getting small external recorder for the EX1 what do you think of the Nanoflash v. the other units out there ? - I just want something very simple, mountable on the camera, records the audio stream in the SDI and stop and starts using the cameras own record buttons.
If you were strolling through the park, talking to XF 100, for Broadcast standards, would you mount a LED to the camera, or just, I don't know, shoot without extra lighting, use hand held diffuser or reflector??
This camera does have some great features, especially 4:2:2 @ 50mbps - but they've gone a put a 'less than professional' lens on it, in my opinon, in terms of focus, zoom & iris rings. I'd still prefer to shoot on my EX1r with Nanoflash.
I hear that there is some problem with editing or importing Canon MXF files as produced by the XF100, to Sony Vegas 9.0e NLE. Canon mention the other major NLE's as compatable but not Vegas. Can you shed some light on this.
Still no manual control over the infrared mode.
So this cam has BNC connector? If there is requirement to stream then other end of connection should go to BNC on a PC?
No, the other end has to go to a HD/SDI Switcher. Or you can plug it in to a news truck.
Please stop with that music in the background.
INCORRECT INFO. 12-50 fps in 720p not 1080p. 25fps maximum in 1080
Will these files need to be converted to be edited on CS6?
No. They work fine in CS5 and above
Hi I have CS6 and files are not accepted and even Media Encoder wont convert them.
Really? That's strange. I have CS5 and they work fine. I know many guys on the XF-100 forum use CS6 and they work fine for them too. I'd consider a reinstall
I bought this IMAC off an animation company on a second hand website with CS6 installed.
The only thing I can think of as a troubleshoot is the updating of my OS which Im been putting off.
Ah, I'm not sure about the MAC situation. It may require a plugin perhaps. I'm afraid I can't help you. I know literally nothing about Apple products. I've never known a CS6 Windows user who's had problems. I'd check Canon support pages for a plugin.
If you have no luck, convert with VLC or PavTube into a format you can edit.
