The sudden realization that a 6 minute hunt was a good time for this has made me realize how far I've actually come in hunting to reliably get 7-8 minute times on hunts like this.
I mean it's just the demo. In full game astalos runs will take at most 2 mins.
if you're doing the demo hunts in 8 minutes you're doing pretty good. but if you're killing in 8 minutes in rise you must've died twice and spawned in at 3 minutes or something

@@lecommenter8528 lifesteal was irrevelevant considering any amount of hp you had meant you were still a 2 shot for any of the MR elders/"hardmode" monsters (raj/rag brach) especially everytime a new one got released.
Add to that the fact that you had no way to wake up safely and yes, lifesteal was largely not relevant, it was a slower + higher dps version of using a potion that was only available super late into MR anyway.
And again, all the lategame monsters in world were way more aggressive, had way more aoe, and hit way harder that this guy. Nevermind all the super powerful defense tools (i.e. parrys) pretty much every weapon has in rise.
You literally have to be high to think rise is a hard game.

Astalos is so beautiful in sb. One of my favorite monsters of the whole series. Him, glavenus, legiacrus are my favorites. Seregios is an honorable mention because I like the whole blade idea and his weapons were SO sick

My best time on Astalos is 12’10 atm. Glad to see I’m only taking twice as long as the best speedrunners!
(Plus the fact I haven’t played Rise outside a few scattered hunts since March and I’ve never fought Astalos before)

As a Switch Axe player, I have no idea what’s going on but I am ver impressed.
I rarely use Dodgebolt, but with the new Skill Swap, I can appreciate having it in my loadouts
I’ve been using dodgebolt for the longest, it’s so insane IMO super fun to use and if you don’t like the range of the dodge you can slap Evade Extender to make it a bit more bearable (I’d say it’s useful if you like dodging and using close range coating, if you like being at range of the monster it sucks)
@@magdieldexter right now I only use Dodgebolt for my USJ Spread Bow loadout. But someone said that the Bow is basically a melee weapon with a little range and that is true with spread bows

Sadly Boltreaver is a deviant which is not only different from subspecies but also the Deviants already kinda exist as the apex monsters which have been nodded to not being in sunbreak sense there are no rampages
No point if the deviant gear cant be made just saying
@@Lator_Gator the rampages have been confirmed not to return, yes. But I'm not sure about apex's though, I mean they can be fought in their own quests.

I was hoping the predictions wouldn’t be true, but they really did make the guitar even weaker. Guess I’ll just have to jam to the older version.
The good news is that the song isn't such a short and repetitive loop like it was before and that it isn't off key like the iceborne version of glavenus
Nah there is actually an amazing overall mix of guitar in the theme I think it's just a bit more orchestra focused which does give it a bit added personality

Is it just me or do I see the glitched superfast power shot back that was in base rise then removed later. It could just be me I’m no expert on bow I just remember it being extremely broken early rise.

Playing bow is like playing rampage mode without the counter
I’m new to MHR how do you switch your bow coatings by just scrolling instead of having to manually apply them?
That is a skill that you need to include in your armor set or mix set. Its been a while but, I think you Need 2 points in the reload skill to get it to work like that

Lances motion values got buffed a lot actually it can deal a surprising amount of damage now
@@fabinagl7601 shame most attacks still go through guard honestly Lance should be the one weapon who's shield is immune to all attacks it is supposed to be the tank after all

How to do the move vycery use to avoid the roar or attack. I only know if we press A, its a power shot. That movement kinda like a power shot movement
It’s an esquive x or b + direction, that can be followed by a power shot
I think what your referring to is dodgebolt which exists in base rise and is the switch skill paired with charging sidestep (the standard dash/dodge that rise bow uses to maintain charge level).

Finally someone asking about it. Ive been wondering this whole time how they unbolded the damage numbers. I want them to be like in the video but I cant find a setting for it ingame so it must me cuz its 4k.

@@netabarekun2087 It's not a skill, it's endemic life. It's a spider you can collect. Take a look at the object bar in lower right corner of the screen.
The spider lets you control the monster and force it to go somewhere, the skill that you are talking about is "Butcher's bind" (2:27) basically you fire an arrow, that creates a line between the bow and the part of the monster; the next arrow you shoot to that part, will inflict severing damage, so it is great for cutting tails.
Man it just goes to show that there's no point in using Dragonpiercer in this game. I wish they would make it the same as in World/Icebourne where there's no cap on maximum hits.
Yeah literally my biggest gripe with the bow now. I mained it in world all of
Master rank and now I don't use it in rise at all. Just doesn't feel the same to me
Is dragonpiercer bad at cutting tails in Rise? I just started playing bow (and I prefer it in World at this point) so I'm not totally sure how it works.
I did think that this run didn't look very fun because they mostly used normal attacks and if dragonpiercer got nerfed that would make sense as to why.
@@mastermarkus5307 They have a new Switch Skill that can do slicing damage for bows now so if you need to slice a tail it's 100% better to use that instead of Dragonpiercer. Don't let this gameplay demotivate you to play Bow however because he hardly used his arsenal of attacks effectively. When you get into a rhythm with the monster bow is one of the most fun to use and also one of the fastest weapons in speedrunning.
just use it. Switch axe is supposed to cycle through morph+double slash+morph, rinse and repeat, using the discharge is suboptimal 99% of the time. I still use it because it looks cool, who cares about shaving 1-2 minutes from the hunt
@@RoyalTrashing That's the thing though. Dragonpiercer isn't as cool as it was in World/Icebourne. Getting the arrow through a monster felt good and crunchy cuz it went all the way through. I got to the final boss of Sunbreak. Really huge monster. Used Dragonpiercer. Only 7 hits. It's not satisfying. It's not even about finishing the hunt faster. I just want the Dragonpiercer to you know... PIERCE the monster.

i dont know if this was already a thing but i noticed that when you switch coatings, they are already applied. we dont need to manually apply our coatings, just swap and done.
I believe that's the armor set having at least Quickload 2
