Love that the charge blade in savage axe mode does all additional damage to the spot where the axe head makes contact rather than swiping through the monster.

World was my first monster hunter and rajang was the bane of my existence. Now I bust him up and it feels great lol
Every time I watch a CB clip, there's always something new for me to learn. For example, I just learned from this clip that after any X or A combo of Savage Axe, you can press ZR to immediately morph back to Sword Mode. It's like a QoL change for me.

Tip for this boss sonic boom pods aren’t useless there something to make him into a. Blind rage which makes him do things that gives you opening and even when low in this state he will still attack also his tail is cut able

@@knightvalory if you activate condensed spinning slash hold the attack buttons to charge philes and do more damage.
You also have to hold the corresponding button, for example for the double sweep attack you hold down a. I main charge blade don’t even the name haha

It's a great way to fix spacing and the direction of attack! It's also a bit like when FPS pros do little mouse flicks and controller wiggles, keeps the flow going.

one of the many amazing things about rise: mounting a monster is actually good, both for dps, drops and control.
The only thing I learn from Rise videos with CB’s is that Narga CB = Good

Awesome run! I learned some useful stuff from watching this :) I just need to get used to standard controls rather than 3DS controls. I still sheath sometimes when I mean to morph/charge phials.
You know you can remap the buttons, right?
@@naomizavaglia I did not know to what degree, so I started with the base controls and the minor changes I always do (type 2 directional input for example). You pointing it out made me take a second look, and now I have run and guard set to ZR, so run no longer sheathes my weapon. Thank you!

I'm absolutely loving charge blade in Rise. The way they reworked savage axe is perfect imo because now it's not just you either have SAED spam or savage axe as the definitive meta, you now get to use a mix of both playstyles when fighting monsters. I hope CB stays this way in the next generation.
Yeah each monster actually have their own movesets complete with directional inputs and attacks that combo, plus a parry system too. Each monster almost feels like a whole new weapon its super well designed

@@matthewfera2954 if you time your dodge right before getting hit by the other monster you get the parry. Its cool af
I more like world savage axe animation than rise savage axe, it feel like rise savage axe animation more slower than world
You could always use a mix of both in Iceborne, wdym?
It was actually more balanced than it is in Rise, where it feels like you basically don't spend any time using the sword now.
Watching you play made me realise I'm going about the spinning axe (I forget its name) switch move all wrong. On World I didn't have much problem staying in sword and shield mode until the time was right to drop SAED, but in Rise all I pretty much do is go into spinning axe mode ASAP and stay there as long as possible slow rolling to dodge until I get knocked over. It's kinda worked well enough, I'm on rank 7 and I never fail a mission, and rarely get KO but it's super awkward and I just consume many potions to win. I need to try being more flexible swapping in and out of it as this video proved.
Think I'm gonna wait for another one year for this great game QAQ

@@D1ab0lical damn my switch must be underpowered or something because even when i move the camera in kamura and look at the background i almost get a headache because the trees just get so much ghosting
@@MrGabrielLagg maybe your switch is overheating , you could try to change the thermal compund
@@MrGabrielLagg That might just be 30 fps. I don't get motion sickness from anything but I know it's quite common.
They did the SAED hitbox so dirty in Rise.
I like that you're not using the new switch skill morph skill. Even with Rapid Morph the new one feels a bit clunky going from axe to sword.

Are there even bleeding status in Rise? Ive been hit by moves that trigger bleeding multiple times but never got it even once.
Nope
Poison, sleep, para, and blast are the only status effects we can inflict on monsters. Everything else is elemental

How can you do the normal elemental discharge after the silk parry with your shield charged?
how u fee playing at switch with controller, with joycons(or procon) after pc with stable 60 fps and without keyboard?
The best balance for charge blade would be to just use the ultra burst just before the red shield runs out and lose the shield charge (not sword charge) that way without beeing able to recharge it while it's still red. Then there would be a reason to use the super more often without never using ultra like back in the day. Is the super burst finally viable again in this game? Like in terms of DPS? Or is it still best to use ultra, charge ultra and so on?

The new move actually fills your phials if you hit enough, pretty good
As of World, you don't lose red shield when you SAED. It's just timed
@@Reseng I missed playing World and was so happy to discover this in Rise. No more being super punished for accidentally using an SAED at the wrong time
Because the combat system is just like world..only in generation/gu the red shield will gone after you use saed..

How do you constantly just incapacitate the monster and wail away at it. I spend 80% percent of the time running snd 15% of the time getting beat up and 5 percent actually doing any damage

Hello, I'm new to charge blade here. How do you do the round slash move to charge the shield after the counter to the first roar?

You have to go into axe mode, charge your phials using ZR +A, and once you see that electric charge animation, hit right trigger ZR and you'll charge your shield. You have to time it just right.

the monsters sure are resilient if it can take 5 spinning axe heads to the face and leave with just a few scrathces
That recovery after getting knockdown is like a cheatcode. Makes everything looks easy in this game.
You have to have a bug ready to do it. So it’s just resource management.
It does make the game much faster paced that's undeniable. But it was balanced around to an extent. Hard hitting attacks like magnas double bite don't let you wirefall and if you don't properly manage your charges, pin moves are guaranteed death a lot of the time (jang's pin, magna's bite pin etc.). Also MH was never difficult. Apart from its first few iterations due to poor control responsiveness (not talking about character control) or at the end of its life cycle with ib for ex does it get "difficult". I cant disagree though that mh has been progressively getting faster and faster combat, which some people like and others hate.
