She showing clear signs that she was probably touched inappropriately as a child, groomed and whoever did it to her made her feel that it was normal and natural. I've seen this type of behavior time and time again on multiple documentaries and crime shows how the perpetrators of molesting underage children were abused themselves we're groomed and it's scarred them for life. They went on the Crusade seeking out children the same age their trauma occurred and wound up inappropriately pursuing them with false pretenses. This woman should be in a psych ward and away from society. And it also makes me think that what makes her so bold is that she probably have done this to somebody in her family and have gotten away with it so far. 😮

The fan has since been explained how it felt leaving the stage having other male fans and older men glaring at her at cat calling her after she had been exploited on stage! It’s absolutely horrific that she minimizes that to a fart joke, when the fan who is an SA survivor describes having felt that same feeling like she needed to internally cleanse her insides. The “fart joke” line is an awful, properly monstrous way to react to Becky’s account. And this line could only have made it into the video following a series of conscious decisions and choices by Colleen. It has taken time to write, rehearse and edit this song. few facts: Colleen through her actions caused a minor at a time Adam McIntyre to get doxxed and bullied online for 3 years straight - by putting a blame on him for her own actions, as a form of damage control of her career. It obviously doesn't mean that she is not being being bullied today, but the fact that she can't apologize for that is mind boggling to me. The "fart joke", as she framed it, was her minimalizing a whole other situation - she had spread a 16yo girl's legs on a stage on a live show so hard that the girl's body was exposed in front of everybody which caused her trauma. The girl is called Becky and she spoke publicly about how traumatic the experience was (you can find the video of it on youtube). Colleen was 30+ years old when all the situations took place - talking to minors, sending the panties, all the live shows, etc. It's not like that all happened when she was a teenager herself. She was a full grown adult and a mother.

6:13 "It might not resonate with the non-fans but to the fans this might be the perfect she could ever do." Anthony Fantano made a fantastic point when reacting to Colleen's apology, saying that this song is perfectly geared to a much younger audience. From the train imagery, the "cute ditty", the uke, etc. this is a song that musically sounds like it's for kids. However, when paired with the incredibly serious topic of what she's actually being accused of, it turns into a song that infantilizes victims/accusers. She doesn't deign to respond in a diplomatic, serious, constructive, *adult* way. Instead, she writes a "cute" little song saying how everyone is wrong and basing themselves on lies, while not producing any facts or cogent arguments.

I really think this video is missing the issues with colleens behaviour. I dont believe her motivations were sexual gratification but that doesnt invalidate that a lot of the allegations are inherently sexual in nature. Speaking in depth to children about your sex life is unacceptable. Bringing children on stage to make sexual jokes about and open their legs infront of an audience while they are wearing a dress is in my opinion sexual harrassment. Sending pornography to minors is a crime. Asking your underage fan for pictures of their ass is solicitation of child pornography. To not give full weight to these issues because they werent in physical, sexual contact is wrongheaded in my opinion. And thats completely ignoring the exploitation, free labour from minors, the general vindictivness to your young fans and the continuous blame pushing to others, particularly adam, that continues to victimise him for years. If she was doing any of these behaviours in person, it would be clearly labelled abusive, cohersive, disturbing, so why is it acceptable online. She knew these children for years. This behavior happened for years

Her entire Miranda bit has seemed to be centered around child abuse and incest (& appearing to act like she has a developmental disorder?). It's not even just a pattern, it's her whole thing. The fact that she had a Netflix show to showcase her jokes around being abused and groomed by an uncle is just...crazy, but at the same time, I guess not surprising. It's just surprising this hasn't been a bigger issue already, but some people find that type of humor hilarious which I guess also says a lot.

NO BECAUSE I USED TO WATCH THE SHOW ON NETFLIX WHEN I WAS YOUNGER BUT I STOPPED BECAUSE THE UNCLE WAS SO CLEARLY GROSS TOWARDS MIRANDA AND THERE WERE NO REPERCUSSIONS OR ANYTHING AND IT MADE ME PHYSICALLY UNCOMFORTABLE AS A YOUNG TEEN.
why are her characters so creepy especially in a pedophile/incestual way? And why is she marketing that to kids? And why is she blaming parents for not monitoring their kids, when she literally made content FOR KIDS consistently and clearly??? She didn't make adult jokes for adults and had other kiddy stuff on the side, she made adult jokes that INVOLVED kids directly in the joke and often times in a sexually embarrassing or just oversexual way. And then she would put those jokes in shows, books, and videos that she marketed towards kids. It's not just parents not paying attention, it's also literal predatory, intentional marketing.
It boggles my mind that I watched her content before and thought characters like her uncle were just normal and quirky likeable people, when they were basically like subdued predators 😐

The thing is some of what you’re reacting to in what she’s saying is provably false, she wasn’t just chatting with minors early in her career she continued this as recently as this year apparently and also weaponized her fans against a minor with whom she had abused her power and when he disclosed she weaponized the rest of her minor fans against him for disclosing the truth. It’s absolutely evil that she did that to a kid for years and now she’s he truth comes out and she acts like it’s gossip it’s not the only reason this came up again is because another young fan revealed being used by her to take down the previous victim. She’s a master manipulator. Even the song is a manipulation because she knows her viewers are 13 year olds and she knows they are receptive to a little song and she didn’t upload this to the main channel, she uploaded this to her least popular channel. She ruined a fans life for a couple of years and tried to destroy him using her fans, to me that’s worse than some of the other maybes. She’s minimizing or attempting to minimize the situation by making it a song! Only genius at manipulating and only adults can see that, because it wasn’t until the fans that are disclosing now, it wasn’t until they got older that they were able to look back and see things clearly!

During my first years working as a teacher, I tried to be extremely mindful of the relationship I created with my students. Most of them were senior or junior high schoolers so they could easily see me as their "cool aunt" or "big sister" since we shared also a lot of the same hobbies and I was barely older than them.
However, my responsability as the adult it was to put the boundaries. I did not give my personal info like social media profiles or replied to personal messages if they found me. If they wanted to have lunch with me (which it was allowed), I always made sure we ate in a open space like the schoolyard benches or cafeteria. Why did I do that? Because I noticed some students got very emotionally attached to me and wanted to consider me as their friend, which it is simply not possible. I did not want to them to forget I was an adult and, at best, I could be a mentor to them beside being their teacher. Imagine if I normalized this behavior and one of these students met someone with bad intentions? I would be setting a bad example. It sounds mean maybe, but I always tried to gently push them to interact with people of their own age and made clear I had my own friends and all of them were around my age.
I think Colleen should have done that. She needed to remember she is the adult and the distance she should have put is in the best interest of the kids around her.

This is the first time a creator I routinely watch is in the mist of a scandal. I’ve never been into the Miranda Sings content BECAUSE of the sexual references and innuendos. The thinly vailed references to molestation and abuse were too much for me. I think there is some unresolved trauma with Colleen that is a the root of all of this. But if she can’t accept or acknowledge that her behavior and conversations with minor children were inappropriate then that is a major problem. I think she was a girl that finally felt accepted and validated by her younger audience and finally got to have that immature teenage experience later in life. Not okay by any means and again she needs to acknowledge and work though all of this with a therapist. Should definitely spend some time off the internet.

She pretended like everything is a lie, and people are just exposing her for clout. She even reduced the one girl's discomfort and humiliation for being called on stage, told to lie on her back, and then have Colleen spread her legs wide open as just a "fart joke." The “fart joke” is when she had a 16 year old girl come on stage while wearing a revealing romper( the children were encouraged to dress revealing to be called on stage for a specific skit though she was not called for that skit ). The girl came on stage, laid on her back and spread her legs in front of Colleen’s face and then a fart noise goes off as if the girl had “farted”.. the girls romper was falling down and revealed a lot of her body while she was laying down and getting up. She said she was humiliated that she was exposed and felt exploited. Her story is getting picked apart but it is very valid. She should have been kept safe by the adult she idolized. The fan who worked for her says Colleen came back stage laughing while all the adults were horrified by what had happened and said the skit needed to be reworked. I think you are right, she needs to address what it is in her that didn’t stop her from participating in behaviors like this.

When she says her team advised her not to say anything but they didn't say she couldn't sing it it goes to show how she interprets getting away with her behavior; it's all in the name of how she defines her behavior. She figures if others interpret her behavior incorrectly it's not her fault because it's all in how they understand the definition. She just proved it with that statement by still doing what she wants with her definition of understanding under her terms and it's the fault of others if they take it the wrong way or "misinterpret" it. Very childish viewpoint on her part. Some will get it and some won't get it but it's not her fault because she can do what she wants at least in her opinion. I also think Colleen & her siblings adopted inappropriate behavior from an adult family member who is probably still close with them. Her acknowledging how damaging her behavior was would also mean acknowledging the inappropriate behavior she probably received as a child from a family member she trusts. Not only did this "apology" not resonate with non-fans, but especially with the alleged (and proven) victims of her exploitation and grooming. None of what she has done was addressed by her, nor did she apologize, take accountability, etc. More so, she's victimizing herself ('won't survive the crash', 'my boney little back') to garner empathy and especially for her fans to feel sorry for her and defend her even more before her critics. Also, she has shifted the blame onto people exposing her wrong-doings instead of admitting that she has, in the face of all the evidence, done and said a lot of inappropriate things revolving around and involving children.
Tone-deaf and egoistical of her, and definitely an attempt to paint herself as the martyr and do some sort of weird musical PR stunt more than actually expressing remorse.

I think the especially egregious exploiting of an 'employee' was having a 13-16 year old fan (who believed they were so close that talking about his virginity, sexual positions, his weight/body, confiding in him about her x-husband and sex with him, etc) produce and run her Twitter, etc and not pay him....and then malign him. He has proof of it. Sad.

I’m afraid your research wasn’t extensive enough. I personally think you can only understand this situation at the minimum, if you see it in the light of the 2020 apology and what she apparently did behind the scene. You get a much better understanding of her pattern of manipulation (no matter if intentional or not).
Also, the fart joke was about a fan who’s called Becky. Becky participated in a so called yoga chellenge during a show. Colleen spread Becky‘s legs while she was laying on her back. than a fart noise sounded and Becky‘s romper fell down and she was exposed. She herself talks about this now as a traumatic experience and accuses Colleen of not protecting her underage body and well being. - Colleen diminishing Becky’s pain to an unharmful fart joke is, imo, disgusting.

    • @baintreachas
      @baintreachas 11 місяців тому +8

@@bigwhy6845 that's a valid point but "very gross" feels unnecessary. for an apology to actually be graded, you need to know the context.
if i stab you in the chest and do a great heartfelt apology about ruining your shirt... it might look great to someone who didn't know what happened, but... etc etc.
you could make the point "if i were to take this apology in a vacuum and assume everything they say is true, then i'd rate their apology XYZ" is valuable analysis and maybe that's true, but he didn't say he was doing that and did provide some of his own context.

I just....if I was being accused of being inappropriate with children and it was all lies, I would sit down with all of my evidence compiled to prove that I didn't do it. I don't understand how she's saying everything is made up and everyone is lying, but simultaneously saying she just made a mistake and she shouldn't be attacked for doing things we don't like in her past. Like which is it? Are they lying, or did you do the things they're accusing you of? I feel like the vague nature of this is purposeful because actually taking accountability would mean divulging details that would make her look worse. So instead she makes a ten minute song about how bad cancel culture is while simultaneously making a mockery of these children and young adults who have been affected by her. Idk it's gross to me....

Which is it, you ask? Let’s see. I believe this entire song can be accurately summarised as follows:
It didn't happen (“toxic gossip”, “lies”)
And if it did, it wasn't that bad. (“many years ago” “i was just like a (harmless) weird aunt at a family gathering”)
And if it was, that's not a big deal. (“I am a loser not a groomer”, reducing Becky’s experience to a “fart joke”)
And if it is, that's not my fault. (“I just wanted to be besties with my fans”, I didn’t know better “at the beginning of my career”)
And if it was, I didn't mean it. (literally: “I didn’t mean to manipulate”)
And if I did, you deserved it. (the victims are “chasing clout”)

So often “cancellation” includes public harassment, social isolation, threats, and more. I’m not sure that anyone deserves that, even people who definitely need to be held accountable. Cancel culture doesn’t pave a great road towards people changing. But it does create a lot more harm.

It can be very frustrating watching people react and respond to this whole situation because SO many things have been exposed, she’s been accused of (with evidence in most cases) sooo many things, that often when someone is coming in to comment they either only know about some of those things, and then say stuff like that doesn’t seem that bad, or, because there’s such an overwhelming number of things she’s been accused of, you forgot while you’re speaking about it about many of those things, and maybe you focus on one’s that aren’t so bad. Some of what she’s done is so so horrible, maybe don’t focus on or even mention the stuff that “isn’t so bad”, then who cares, cuz there’s stuff that IS bad. Speaking with minors in private chats for years and years, sharing details of your marriage and sexual life, speaking to them about sex and other very inappropriate topics. Using the power imbalance to manipulate and use those kids etc. and also the inappropriate nature of her content and live shows, where she has affected her young fans by having them participate in these things… it’s bad. It’s really THAT bad, even if one or two of the other auxiliary accusations aren’t that bad.

He was a man who was very aware of the vulnerability of children and had a deep sense of responsibility toward protecting his viewers. He refused to allow any sort of marketing of his face/image or of the characters in the land of make-believe because he didn't want to manipulate children to buy his stuff so he could make more money. He valued children more than he valued fame or profit. I think that should be the standard for anyone making content for children.

Some background info that's helpful in understanding why she did this: 1. She truly does not believe that she has done anything wrong. 2. She doesn't care what the general public thinks about her. In keeping with #1, she thinks we're all stupid ridiculous people who are "falsely" accusing her of wrongdoing.
So now, knowing these two facts, I will provide the reason she did this: the video is not for you/us/the general public. The video is for her fans. The video is for kids. She doesn't care that we think it makes her look terrible. She doesn't care that it's horribly insensitive and offensive to the victims (cuz she doesn't believe there ARE any real victims). Her young fans will eat it up because it's very manipulative and completely misrepresents the facts. That's why she did this. She doesn't care about what she did wrong and she doesn't care what we think of her, it's just to manipulative the narrative for the kids who are willing to blindly support her cuz they're too young to think critically for themselves or understand the gravity of the situation.

Like no shit, everyone can agree that the internet sometimes dogpiles on innocent people and attacks them, and that it's wrong that that happens. Nobody would say that's a good thing. But it has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS SITUATION. She's deflecting from the reality of what happened. In this context there's no point talking about how what she's saying is a real problem, because it has nothing to do with her situation, and that's exactly what she WANTS - she WANTS people to get distracted by that point and forget about the part where she did terrible things.
