If I can just point out....even if Ballenger had no "end game" what she has done has made this type of hypersexualized conversation normalised with these tweens.
What happens if they encounter the perv down the street who has actual intent to physically harm? They think, "Well, so and so talks with me this way, it must be normal".
I cant get past that aspect of harm.

This is what ive been saying! Thats why her bringing kids on stage and saying that dates should be somewhere no one can see them or hear them and then telling them to reach into her pants for snacks is so incredibly harmful. These are the exact tactics p*dos use.

Omg it makes me sick to think about that. Colleen probably had this happened to her and this is why she’s like this with children. Otherwise I don’t see how as a mother, she’s okay with how she was behaving all the up til this very year.

This is what I keep trying to say but it seems to fall on deaf ears. People always respond to the grooming allegations with “well she never actually touched a kid or had those intentions!” But she has groomed those kids for OTHER predators, even if unintentional it’s still extremely harmful.

Please keep talking about Colleen because she is trying to slither back out of her hole to profit off her content again. If UA-cam won't deplatform her, then other creators with large followings can help by making sure that her abusive behavior doesn't fade from the public's memory. This isn't even the first time she's made a comeback after controversy.

Years ago, my best friend and I found ourselves in a genuine friendship with two teens at our church. We were both in our late 20s and as the friendship reached its natural end (lifestyle changes for all of us), we were 30. These teens latched onto us and, since becoming adults, have shared that they did so because they felt safe confiding in us and felt they had no one else to be real with. Both teens are in the LGBTQ community and they were hoping we’d be a safe space for them to come out to (and that’s exactly how it went!) So speaking from personal experience, I know exactly what it’s like to be an adult and have teens who want to talk about serious and, sometimes, very sensitive topics. It was something my friend and I talked about constantly - how to navigate and provide a safe space while modeling what we should/shouldn’t say or do, so they could know what an appropriate (perceived) power balance should look like. And with that being said, never, in a million years, did either one of us ever have a difficult time not asking “what’s your favorite sex position?” I can’t FATHOM thinking that’s funny to ask a minor as an adult. We also felt protective of them in that way when they’d share with us things they experienced with other people in their lives, we’d point out when something probably needed some boundaries and what that could look like. I guess what I’m trying to say is, wtf? Colleen is a predator and I can’t believe it took all these years for the general public to see how creepy she’s literally always been.

Good on you and yes I agree and can relate. I was volunteering in Mexico this summer and ended up living in a house with a group of people, some of them were a group of teens from France. They would often ask me advice on my religion, careers, or on their personal struggles, they would talk about their interests with me, and even let me talk about my personal struggles a bit, but I would feel disgusting if I talked about my sex life or trauma dumped on them the way she did. For her to go out of her way to collect Children in a group chat and call them “weenies” made my stomach turn. This woman is vile and needs to be deplatformed.

For children to be abused like this for so long makes myself and others believe that those in power do not want those type of laws to pass because they are the abusers as well. And it has bogged down my mental health thinking why is it so many get away with these things? To the point that I'm afraid to even have a kid..

I appreciate you opening up and speaking about that dark feeling of becoming keenly aware that kids are being harmed. Though I'm not a professional, I've had a special interest in developmental psychology. When I see how parents interact with their children, in ways that are considered very "normal, or common, but I know they are actually harmful, all I see are the problems that could grow from that, and it's so disheartening. Especially having my own child now, I see how free and pure and innocent he is, and I see other children his own age who've already begun shoving their feelings, people pleasing, being parentified, and worse things too. I relate so much to the feeling you described, and I feel a little bit better knowing I'm not the only one.
    Take care everyone ❤

Because there’s a lot going on in the world? Wars, cost of living crisis, climate change, the list is endless. People really overestimate the power and impact of online discourse in the real world and social media moves on quickly since it’s more about having something to talk about and not the actual issue. Governments everywhere have neglected child safety on and offline for forever, this isn’t going to make them move any faster, they most likely don’t even know who tf she is. Just look at Shane Dawson, he’s just as bad, still doing his thing and about to be a father who’ll inevitably exploit his kids too

Colleen Ballinger and her associates should be disavowed. Context is irrelevant in everything surrounding this situation. She needs to be arrested. It doesn't matter if her intentions weren't sexual. It's illegal. Period.

Moral responsibility yes, but unfortunately they have no legal obligation to move against creators who victimize children. The best UA-cam seems to do is act after the problem has become so severe that it cannot be ignored or dismissed without them getting in trouble for helping a criminal profit from their crimes (see them only banning Ruby Franke after she was charged with child abuse, but allowing the literal years of it to be posted with zero qualms).
There definitely need to be more stringent laws to force corporations into protecting the vulnerable because you can be damn sure they will not do it willingly.

Honda, what you said about working in a profession where you're close to abuse happening to kids and that feeling of dread and hopelessness is so relatable to me. I had been working with kids since I was a teen and after getting my education degree and starting as a teacher, I couldn't handle it anymore and I changed my career path because of depression I had from seeing these kids go through so many terrible things, you try to help but nothing changes. It's such an awful experience to know a child who you care for is being harmed at home and there's really nothing you can do about it, even when you follow protocol and tell CPS or your boss. Nothing changes. I was really struggling to keep myself together dealing with that day in a day out along with all the other stresses of being a childcare provider / educator. Thanks for your insight.

I appreciate your impassioned words at the end about children in our society being abused. I work in children’s mental health and it’s everywhere- all the time in both big and small ways. Obviously doing this work I do have hope that people can help and that I help, in small ways, impacting people when I can. However, what I don’t have much hope for- sadly- is that our society (as a whole) cares about children. We mock children’s feelings, we punish them harshly, we joke about how “annoying” they are, we shame them, we tell them to behave or else. In general, adults want children to sit still and be quiet. I’m speaking about our culture generally and of course this isn’t true of every family or every parent or every system. But it is our cultural view of children. And until that shifts- I just don’t see how their rights and safety will be prioritized. They definitely deserve better from all of us.

Ughhh...this is all so tough...my children are in grade school and my husband and I have largely kept them off of electronics. Now that they are at school and see that other children's parents let them have free reign on tablets and phones...it has made things so difficult. Our children think we are awful for keeping them from what all the other kids are able to watch. They wonder why they aren't able to have phones and tablets ( we are talking about Kindergartners and a 1st grader) I know I am doing the right thing for my kids...but I really wish more parents would get onboard with the negative impact that electronics and the Internet are having on our children.

I had the privilege to work with a family therapist after I had some mental health issues and was struggling. My son is autistic and eloped from the house and CPS got involved. I was really lucky to get a social worker who just really cared about us. They saved us. The system is so broken though, and it was a hard truth to witness. I was able to work with a specialized family therapist, and a parent aid would come to my home weekly. They were so excited to be working with someone who truly wanted their help, but at the same time, because I was so willing and improved quickly with their support, I was no longer a “danger” so I no longer qualified for their support. I cried when they told me they had to close my case, and it did feel almost like I was being punished for doing too well. It’s got to be tough to deal with from the other side as well, I have a lot of respect for social workers and anyone working with the public trying to make the world better.

Im definitely hearing more people talk about laws regarding family vlogging and the harm and exploitation that comes from that. Ya gotta realize that it has only been recently that people even started asking the questions of whether or not it is harmful. It makes sense too that as the first wave vlogger kids get older, we will see this exposed for what it is. Ruby frankes oldest kids are now adults and have said some things.. Cole and Sav labrants oldest daughter is almost a teen.. I feel they will all air it out and that's when laws will be made. Right now, we only go off the principle that it can be exploitative. We don't see what happens behind closed doors, but those kids do. Those kids are most likely not going to get a dime of that money, which I hope leads them to really telling the world what they went through.
More people are paying attention to the actual videos too. People like Lo Beeston, who has a 2 year old who has broken bones like 3 times (and one was already healed, meaning they never took her to the Dr), comes to mind. People notice now. That same kid just broke her collarbone and they chose to still fly to some island for an ad, not even having her wear the required sling for healing. It's sick.. They use their kids for money and then completely neglect them (Franke being an extreme case we see seeing). I really hope we will see laws made in the next 10 years that protect these kids and require parents put money in a trust just like child actors have the coogan law.

Its awful because for most people they just know the very surface level stuff.

i really like your philosophical point of view on this it's clear that you are very introspective and care A LOT. i had a similar reaction when my parent told me that we all die and i thought okay thats awful why isn't all of humanity working on making us live longer.. the world is so strange with priorities.

I am a survivor of childhood sexual assault and I’m worried that he and his family and
my family are still hurting children and I’ve tried to talk to DCFS and the police but nether will acknowledge what is happening. Everyone tells me I need to stop caring and just forget about it because I can’t protect everyone, but if I am quite certain, he and his family are still doing it to other children how can I just forget and not worry and try to stop him?
I don’t know what to do.

I understand a kid going around saying shocking things because well, shock value can be funny. I remember doing that as a kid as well. The shock value, the taboo-ness. Like, you understand it's not a good thing to say, but you don't understand how bad it is.
But for an adult to join in, that's just helluva creepy. Especially an adult in a power position.

I was concerned with your first video on these instances that you were not getting the full story and were glossing over a lot of alleged facts on Ballinger's behavior. It's amazing this went on for years, much of it out in the open with her Miranda character.

@13:25 it’s true. I remember seeing a thumbnail for a kids channel which looked very normal but once you clicked the video, the whole video was just a half naked woman smoking cigarettes. wtf
Also there are “character channels” of adults who dress as Elsa, Mario, etc. and if you watch the videos, a lot of them just simulate what seems to be fetish corn(p***). Like one of the characters sits on the floor and the two others will urinate on him and laugh. What the hell is that

But I don’t think her goal was grooming. She’s just really immature, the kind of stuff she’s saying is what we talked like in secondary school when we first learned about sex.
I think what we need to address is giveing parents ways to control what children see.

My love, grooming isn't a goal - it's a set of behaviours. Colleen's actions are definitively grooming. Her personal aims we cannot truly know, that would be purely speculative, but we can assess what she gained. She got 4 years worth of edits, photos, videos, jokes, concepts and tweets from Adam as well as his involvement in defending her in online forums and bullying her ex and any detractors alongside the rest of the weenies. Two of the girls have said they babysat multiple times for her family. She made a lot of money, and tbh it seems to me that she enjoyed herself immensely. Look past the bony little female back, she's not as harmless as she may appear. Who vlogs a dead cat? Colleen. Who makes a masturbation joke and then gets a small boy to reach into her pants? Colleen does. Who leaves a 15yo alone on the streets of a capital city they are unfamiliar with? Yep you guessed it - Colleen. Who puts her hand down her husband's trousers on a vlog, and continues after he repeatedly tells her not to? Colleen. Who audibly comments that she "can't see" a man because his skin tone is too dark at a Netflix screen test? Colleen does that too. Who shares dms with another creator on the understanding that they will edit them to defame a 17yo? I wonder... Oh yeah, it was Colleen. I would invite you to suspend your disbelief, and reassess her behaviour because it is objectively deliberate, predatory and cruel 🤷‍♂️ It may help if you imagine that the allegations are against a man if your having too much trouble. Just picture Epstein and look at the evidence maybe 🙄 Internalised misogyny and the infantalisation of female predators is WILD 🤦‍♂️

Predators should not be ignored and allowed to just go on hurting children because "it's nosey" to talk about it. See something, say something. Spreading this info will help those in the future avoid predator behavior. Helping people is worth being called "nosey"

    • @h.b.theminimalist489
      @h.b.theminimalist489 9 місяців тому +1

Also being a predator is not a mistake, it's a calculated action. Actions that colleen purposely did for years. No mistakes there. All intentional. Most people's "mistakes" aren't preying on children
