Great mechanics breakdown! I also like to use a 3-7 lb. weighted medicine ball when at home or at the gym and practice your form, if the ball is light enough even shoot it upward to strengthen your arms, hands, and wrist. Be careful when doing this tho
Please, can you do a series of different players style of play? Like their style of dribbling, their style of shooting, what spots of the floor they like, when they drive, their go-to moves, what makes them effective, if they're a rhythm shooter or catch-and-fire, or a sniper, and how smaller or larger players could try to emulate them? I think it would be a fun and helpful series for those of us who study certain players to get better. (I look at Paul George who's 6'9 and i'm 5'7 XD)
Wow! This works! I beat my opponent everytime with this technique, I was a cavs fan but when I started playing in Stephen Curry's form, it made my shooting skillz to the next level!! Now i'm learning to dribble like Curry because he dribbles so well too!
whoah the hips part was the most intriguing because ever since Curry stopped getting injured, he was reportedly training to engage his hips more to take the load off his ankles but I was always trying to figure out HOW he was engaging his hips more. I've injured my ankles several times so this idea of hip engagement is actually very important to me. Do you know of all the other times where Curry is really using his hips for extra power?
Great advice, Coach! Parts of this were reiterations of things you've established before, like how you should tilt your feet, but others were new, and very useful, like the tips about tilting your chest forward with the ball held lower to maximize upward momentum. I'd heard someone else refer to using your glutes, but I never really understood this and tried flexing my butt while shooting to little avail. I'll have to try out what you said next time I ball. But one thing I think is a very important aspect of shooting is using the exact same mechanics, regardless of your location on the court. What I'm referring to is how you position yourself on the right and left wings, top of the key, etc. to produce the same shot and thus gain consistency. This is something that I've been having trouble with since I learned about shooting mechanics, and I've only just begun to piece the solution together (for example, I try not to position both feet along the 3 pt line on shots from the right wing because that would make my shot go left on the left wing, since I'd have been having to shoot leftward on the right to accomodate for my shooting shoulder being positioned behind my left shoulder) and I'd really like to see your input on this. Thanks!
coach I have been watching your videos for a while. Although in a few games I kind of forget everything that I feel like I have been preparing for when practicing. Is there any way to help remember what dribbles or finishes to do you when the opportunity presents itself? I'm thinking kind of like showing a scenario and then saying and showing the best moves to use in that situation
Since 2015 when I was 17, I hit Curry range threes ever since. I practiced on it in the gym. Two years I still got it. 28 to 32 feet and beyond that I knocked them down. Every time. I can make it at times. Many people can't shoot from that range. I still got it. Get it? I played basketball every single day of the week. Get it?? I found that range since around a little earlier 2014. When I practiced shooting from half courts.
Everything in this video is accurate except for palm facing hoop, steph keeps his palm more to the side of the ball as that is the most natural for bringing your elbow in. Just had to add this as i am big on how good shooters shoot the ball.
His elite shooting workout is elite in 2 days in and I'm shooting better, I would recommend doing dribble moves into Shots outside of it because it doesn't cover 1v1 too much but besides that it's worth the miney
Ik I'm a bit late now but I just remembered to ask you if you can break down Tony Snell's jump shot? Since January 1st he's lead the league in 3 point%!
Hey, I loved the video, but I can get past the first layer of defense but not the second. Any tips? If you can get this before Wednesday, it will help a ton.
@@Tay-bo8ii yeah, and I'm still pretty average at basketball. I think mabye if I trained hard enough I could get somewhere but theres so much competition of the same people my age that are 6"6 prodigies and I'm 6"1 and can sorta shoot and dribble
Yea he's been doing this since he's a little kid, so he practiced so long that he no longer thinks of it, but it's second nature to him, like walking to us.
Daniel Pyro Cho no he has practiced it more than I can put into words... his body does it automatically, that's why he can shoot off the dribble so well in a split-second situation because he doesn't have to think about it
@ShotMechanics I've been practicing Steph's shooting for 3 months now, and I am having a little trouble on my range, is it just my upper body strength?
Chris Bosconovitch maybe ur release point is incorrect. try beginning to jump once the ball is at your forhead then extend ur arms into the shooting motion
Can you make a video explaining how your lower half of you body should be on your shot? For example, I know I am supposed to tilt my feet but I have a bad habit of shooting square and I don't know how much I need to tilt my feet to fix it? If you make a video, that would be great.
Baseball4Life move ur feet slightly point to ur non dominant hand. not a lot. just enough to notice the different feel. Klay Thompson shoots square. maybe see some videos of his shooting and try to learn how to shoot square correctly if you are more comfy with that.
can u do a video about how teens/kids can learn how to shoot from a higher setpoint or how to shoot the ball well from the setpoint they already have (most of the time is from their chest)
If you find yourself breaking form trying to shoot like Curry then you need to hit the weights. Curry also has some of the strongest legs in the NBA. He's also very strong. His mechanics are perfect but he's also very strong. I feel like that's an underrated part of shooting. I've had guys at the park tell me my form got way better and I credit that to lifting weights. The ball just feels lighter.
Personally I just catch and shoot so I just have no tilt and occasionally a little tilt but that's usually when I miss. I think almost any shot can be good if you practice it enough.
Hey Coach C, I got a question. I'm trying to use all of these tips and they're working but my basketball coaches want me to shoot a different way what should I tell them? I want to listen to them yet I know that what they're saying isn't really correct. Any tips for me?
Great mechanics breakdown! I also like to use a 3-7 lb. weighted medicine ball when at home or at the gym and practice your form, if the ball is light enough even shoot it upward to strengthen your arms, hands, and wrist. Be careful when doing this tho
LazerC4 Dang... any more tips?
LeBeautiful 😂😂😂
LazerC4 isn't that going to break your rim?
LazerC4 or backboard?
Hamza Aamer Bro, don't actually shoot it, just shoot straight up and try catching it
