- Unboxing my newest firearm, I go over some of the changes from previous generations, and why I chose to get it.
By no means meant to be an exhaustive list.
EDIT I'm not sure why I said I bought a Ruger. I've never bought a Ruger, but I've shot a few, and I'm pretty sure they come in hard cases.
Seems my info on the labels is incorrect at times. I appreciate those in comments who corrected me.

Taking my G22, G23 & G30 to the range this morning 😁🏃. Love the 40 caliber. White label denotes 10 rounds or less, Red high cap, Blue LEO , yellow label is rebuilt . Nice Glock 👍. Love my 19X but really thinking about a Gen 5 G23 MOS. God Bless.
You won't be sorry. I purchased a G23/Gen 5 about two months ago and it's a pleasure to shoot.

@@pabloescobar7802 I've shot gen 3 & 4 23s & they are good shooters but a bit snappy compared to the G22 I have. I believe the thicker slide on the Gen5 23 might dampen recoil impulse a bit?
I just bought my first Glock. I got the gen5 22. So far loving it. Shoots great.

i love the .40 s&w! it is my favorite cartridge caliber and it is the ideal cartridge caliber, but 180gr was always too heavy for the .40 s&w, great for the 10mm auto though, between 135gr minimum and 165gr maximum parameters is best with 155gr/150gr being the ideal bullet weight for the .40 s&w!

i really love the m&p 2.0 too, i have 2 full-size m&p 2.0's, both chambered in .40 s&w obviously😉😜😁😎👍💯💫
I absolutely agree. .40s&w is my go to cartridge. For me, it has that perfect balance of power and recoil. That said, I do love 10mm a lot too, and 9mm... honestly, I love them all for different reasons, but .40 for me just has a nice balance of all the various traits. Great round for HD, or conceal. (I also have a G23). I'll have to look into the M&P 2.0. Although I am kind of a Glock person, I'm not anti everything else.

@@RadaghastBrown 10mm auto is great, when loaded to potential, but too much power when you weigh and factor all the variables, especially for carry!

My condolences brother. I'm sorry for your loss. Needless to say that the 22 is definitely one of my go to's and is very solid. Good review for sure. Did the mounting plates come with it or did you have to order them separately?

The plates came with the gun. I believe all MOS versions do. However, they're not necessarily all interchangeable. There are 2 sets of plates that they make, and you get one of them depending on the model/caliber that you have. I believe the .40's and the 10mm get set 2 due to the fact that their slides are wider, and the 9mm's have set 1.
Not 100% on that, but that's my guess.

I'm glad Glock came out with this, the only thing I don't like about it, they took off the finger grooves! Hell I loved that feature. And I've been using the Glock 22 since March of 2001, it's never failed me, on duty or off.👍🏾 Sorry for your loss, stay strong brother.
Sure like to see Glock offer both frame options one with finger grooves & one without cause I like the grooves on the Compact models but not subcompact.
Last year I stupidly sold my Gen 3 Glock 22 and bought a Gen5 Glock 17. Fella won't sell it back to me so I'll probably end up buying a Gen5. Miss power the 9mm lacks.

Just picked it up today as my first 40. Interested to see the recoil that everyone is talking about.
I just got this gun today and I did get to shoot the gen 5 Glock 22 in the range and I love this gun very reliable.
Every pistol i have bought has came in a plastic lock box. My beretta apx, cz-p09, cz-p10, glock 23 and my sig p320. Not sure where you get your guns but I've never had a gun come in a cardboard box.

The Orange mag followers are my only peeve with the gen 5 Glocks once you put about a 100 rds thru each mag its almost impossible to get all the crud off the Orange followers and over time they just look worse as you use them I prefer the black followers myself other than that you did a fantastic review of this firearm I just ordered my G22 gen 5 MOS this morning maybe will get it in 2-3 weeks? he said the G22 MOS has been hard to get so I will wait and see maybe it wont take too long
You can use gen 4 mags on the gen 5.
The “RED LABEL” indicates a 4” or greater barrel……PERIOD. Your G27, G26, and even the single stacks are “White”. BLUE would be Law Enforcement. In addition, the entire Glock 40 line are a NEW PLATFORM in the since they are WIDER (1.085” vs 1.0 inch as the earlier Gens). The grip is larger to support the larger slide and thus increased the weight by 3oz, total weight. This new model(s) will not fit the earlier generation holsters. This change, in my opinion, has increased the shoot ability of the 40Cal. Maybe they should have modeled these as WIDE (G23W).
With my wrist issues I like the front serrations carpal tunnel came back but I can still put on a good grip and the serrations up front help
If I'm not mistaken the numbers for glocks indicate the order they were released or patent number

Well, it is the standard size, like the 17, however it's a little wider than the 17.

I bought mt 22 gen 5, and i dont know what that tiny little screwdriver blade looking littke thingy is. I was told its a sight tool, but im still foggy. Help
Well, if it's what I think you're talking about: the piece that holds all of the different backstraps.
If it is, that extruding pin shaped piece is for pushing out the pushpins on the Glock handle to swap the backstraps. It should also come with an extra, slightly longer, pushpin for the larger straps, attached to the same tool. Look carefully, as I nearly missed mine.
@@RadaghastBrown the backstrap holder itself has pushpins to extract the mount pins. This may be what you answered me to, but it about an inch long, and it had an octogon shaped grip, and a small blade about 1/4 in long.
It has the glock G emblem imprinted on the bottom, very tiny G. Is that what you are describing back to me?
Nobody has been able to tell me what it is.
Ok, i found it on google. Its acually a rear sight adjustment tool. Look carefully in your case, i believe mine was inside the information packet. Thanks

If lock is used never run it through barrel but through the magazine well
I had never used one before, so I presumed (incorrectly ) that it was meant to block the chamber.
When you go to take apart the slide you better rember how you done it plus you have to put it back on the left

Yes sir, it is. I've gone by some variation of "Radagast" as an online gaming tag for something like 20 years now. When I first read LOTR, I found his character enigmatic, and curious. I've always had a bit of an affinity for the Brown Wizard.

I don't have a Glock yet. My Smith n Wesson s came in blue plastic boxes. I have 22 10 round revolver and 357 magnum plus revolver

So, I've put about 2kish rounds though it so far, and the short answer is, I like it a lot. From a functional standpoint for a left handed shooter, it's perfect. All fire controls are available using the left hand.
The grip is comfortable, and with the larger slide, I feel like felt recoil is somewhat less than my Gen 3 was, but that could be in my head.
The one disappointing thing about this particular gun is the lack of aftermarket support. I've had a lot of trouble finding an aftermarket threaded barrel for this.
Be very Leary about doing business on GB. I bought a gun on GB and got taken. Complain to them a very long time ago and they have not resolved the problem, also beware they will not take care of you as they drag there feet, and they have a very aggressive law contingent that you are left frustrated, not to mention they have a policy that screws you and you can’t do a thing about it. Everybody reading this just beware.
Sound advice to be sure. I've purchased 2 firearms off of gunbroker, and I was picky about sellers. The two I purchased from had HIGH sales numbers, and nearly flawless buyer reviews.

Glock gen 5 40 slides are too thick now 😔 misses the whole point of it being comparable to the 9mm frames

Why 40 and not 9mm
I've got 2 glock 9mm already, and a CZ Scorpion, ha, I'm pretty covered for 9mm.
I've always liked 40s. My first glock some almost 20 years ago was a 40. Fun to shoot, great HD round, and it makes reloading ammo a little easier for me because I can do 40s and 10mm with same bullets.
