Well that's because is a fresh start with no other apps installed beside the ones that come with the OS itself. When you start to install all the stuff you had before you'll be at square 1 again. I have an iMac 21.5 late 2013 with an i5 with 16Gb of RAM and 1TB HDD with 75% free space and it lags a lot lately, I suspect it has to be with the latest security updates that apple is making it slower just to force me to move on to a recent machine. We've all seen apple do this with iphones, it's no secret they do it.
This was a LIFE SAVER. Tried everything with my Mac, 3 hours apple support etc. Back in business thanks to you. I was just before giving up and buying a new iMac. 10 stars!!!!

This was Sooooo helpful!! At first my Mac was not reinstalling it. I was like oh no, did I just ruin this computer I just got. Kept giving me ever error I could get. But the. I used the Ethernet cord instead of WiFi and it worked great.
Quick pointer:!! At first It would not boot to recovery mode and keep going straight into the sign in prompt and I was getting frustrated lol but I thought let me change the keyboard to the one it came with (even though I hated the look of it), and try that and YES!! this was the fix. So please use the keyboard it came with or a keyboard that’s is specifically made for Mac computer or laptop. So once again, if your Mac is not going into recovery mode and just going to the regular sign in page check and make sure you keyboard is compatible or made for your Mac computer. But thank you for the video your instructions were quick and straight to the point. God bless!
Guys try this out if command + R is not working, this helped me a lot Have a Mac With a T2 Chip? Try A Different Keyboard Shortcut Command (⌘) + R shortcut may not work on your Mac with a T2 Security Chip. If it’s the case, try Option/Alt + Command (⌘) + R to enter macOS Recovery Mode.

This is a very good and simple to understand presentation to restore a mac back to factory. The only issue I noticed was if you have a Macintosh HD-data drive in addition to Macintosh HD Drive showing then press the erase volume group button. Otherwise works perfectly

Has anyone else hit the problem when reinstalling (about 2 minutes left) where it says "Could not create a preboot volume for APFS install" i select "ok" (the only option) and then goes back to the MacOS Utilities screen? I tried twice and got the same results. Is there a solution to this issue?

My computer is an iMac '09 when I get to the disk utility menu I have an additional option in the internal section labeled "Hitachi HDE721010SLA330 Media" not sure if that is relevant, but when I click the Macintosh HD option then go to erase I am not given the "APFS" option in format. Most of the options given start with Mac OS extended. The two other options are "ExFAT" and "MS-DOS (FAT)" is there any advice you can give on the subject?
I watched another video before yours and the doode said to hold down Cmd and S at the same time after powering it on. You said to hold down Cmd and R. Do both methods work just in different ways?

I didn’t have APFS so had to use Mac OS Extended (journaled) hope that still works

When i click erase on the internal disk it says it cannot unmount the disk and will not complete the process
APFS is only for newer macs. Many people still use "older" macs.
So what do I use then if I don't use APFS??
