I won the Autel EVO 2 Giveaway that was announced at CES on Friday! I was entered online and will be receiving an EVO 2 as soon as the production run ships. Thanks to the crew at Autel Robotics, Greg Mares who sent me the confirmation, also Timothy Matthews and Sydney Merwin and all the gang in Seattle. Catch a salmon for me, Skipper!
Yup I think Rick screwed up on his editing. Flying the heck out of it and now excited to open the box and see what’s inside. Come on now pick one. If he had been flying it let’s see so vids on that too. To excited, slow your roll. LOL. I be excited to if Autel gave me a $1700 drone. And sent me the other cameras and batteries too. Now let’s see how this plays out if DJI sends Rick the Mavic 3.
Late breaking confirmation on pricing. I received this just after posting the clip. The Evo 2 will come in two packages (Standard and Rugged) and the pricing is $1495 / $1695. The Evo 2 Pro will come in both Standard and Rugged as well with pricing set at $1795 / $1995. The difference between the packages is that the Rugged package includes a hard case and a second battery for the difference in price and seems like a good deal. Stay tuned for more updates this week. If you decide to order any of the Evo 2 quads, please use this link to help support the channel - @t Thanks! Rick
Autel: We present, the Evo II! DJI: *sweating profusely* I love DJI and the product they've refined over the years, but this should make them nervous. I'm already considering the EVO II...
Not the slightest. DJI does watch the competition, wait and strikes. Remember GoPro Karma time? Do you think DJI has just been sitting on their ass since 2018 when they released Mavic 2 Pro? Of course not. All you see on this Autel Evo 2, plus more that we do not know will be on the next Mavic Pro. And something tells me it is just around the corner. I just want them to compete on price as well. We don't want drone prices to follow the smartphone prices trend.
You guys seriously think DJI will be sweating......personally if these FAA rules pass, not sure if this type of outlay will be worth it for the hobbiest. Want to see how these new rules shake out 1st but like the interchangeable cameras
@@Gorganahfikark It's tough to say. I love competition in this industry because it pushes guys like DJI to keep thinking outside the box. The FAA rules on the table are awful and will surely douse the hobby and even small business interest in drone photography. Let's not forget about the prohibition era though and try to draw energy and inspiration from it should the FAA decide to pass the laws proposed.
@@Gorganahfikark Remote ID rules won't be passed for at least 14 months. And even then you essentially have, as I understand it, a three year grace period to comply. By then we'll look back at this drone like the original Mavic.
51 Drones I’m Bummed that you didn’t get one. But then again when you shell out your own hard earned cash of $1700 + for this new drone , I think your more apt to give a more honest opinion. Might as well wait on the Mavic 3 and see what FAA is going to do . I’d hate to spend that kind of cash and not be able to fly it where I usually fly. Just imagine having to go to a R/C club field. Screw that.....
I have the EVO and really like it. The EVO II looks amazing and the specs are great too. Being able to swap cameras is an awesome feature. I like your style. New subscriber. Thanks.
Ooh DJI have some competition. I have a Mavic 2 Pro and even I was salivating at this aircraft. I find the camera line-up a little confusing (I am a stills photographer mainly) but I can't wait to see people's results from this. Now, where can I get an 8k monitor...?
Man I love your enthusiasm!! Totally reminds me of children on Christmas that received more then they had imagined. Awesome video with tons of very useful information. I really like your style Sir. Speak quickly but not annoyingly and inform the viewer with as much as you can without being pushy or overbearing. The Autel Evo 2 lineup is fully out now and I'm phyced to make my first drone purchase. Thank you for your time and explanation.
Thanks, RIck. I watched Tom's Tech Time (filming in Iceland) and he has already reviewed the Evo II and just what I thought. This drone's build quality is not the best but the Cameras are really what set it apart from new drones on the market. The plastics chosen and mold lines and build look are not up to DJI Mavic Pro or Pro 2 standards and resemble the plastic quality of the Mavic Mini. The biggest issue for me is that 6K and 8K file sizes and the fact that 2019 iMac Pro along with any Windows-based Pro Laptop can not smoothly handle the file size for smooth playback or editing unless you use a Proxy workflow. That with the fact that for UA-cam Creators, The file compression that YT puts on 6K or 8K and 4K makes the video quality no more better than what you would get with Mavic 2 Pro or Phantom 4 Pro. Of course, having a higher resolution with allow for more options to crop video and keep a high resolution. And unless someone can afford a $5000 8K OLED TV, I don't personally don't see rushing out to purchase EVO II just to get the latest drone available when I can not edit or view the video at its full potential without significant investment in new computers and TV and just to see it in 1080P, 2.7K, or 4K on YT with its poor VP09 Codec compression playback. Just my thoughts. Maybe as I see more YT influencers' like yourself reviews of actual usage experience, I may come to a different conclusion. I do feel the EVO II Duo with FLIR camera is the choice for enterprise services.
Well said! The video is too advanced for the time. I'm an AV enthusiast but cant justify 8k until it's more mainstream. 4K still isn't common enough to me. I'm sure 5G will be a game changer to help advance video resolution on youtube and Facebook. I think waterproofing would be a better value over 6k and 8k. The Power Egg X is intriguing for the price.
@@RayRay-si6ok The file sizes are a major concern for me for the amount of flying I do. But agree to not being mainstream for many years to come. Look how long 4K has been around and just starting to become more common. I live in a remote area and have slow DSL internet and Satelite TV which only offers several 4K channels. But as a UA-cam creator, I need to start processing more 4K once they upgrade the internet in my area in 2021. Currently, my 2.7K videos take like 4 to 6 hrs to upload for less than a 6-minute video.
Oh man, if they ever let crystalSky monitors work with this I’ll buy it! I’ll probably buy it next year anyway but 100% perfect platform for the crystalSky monitor and the cameras this has. Thanks once again for an amazing first Impressions review. DJI needs competition and this is it! (I’m a DJI fan boy but DJI needs a bit of humbling and competition).
Went back and looked at all your old videos, there is no mention of the Autel X-star? Why didn’t you get board with Autel when they started? The X-Star premium is an incredible drone that you can still edit footage and watch.
The Evo 2 Pro looks great and I hope to have that camera in a week or two and will show you this week how easy it is to swap out in a clip I'll be posting. Stay tuned for all of that and use the link in the description to help support the channel when you place your order. Thanks, Rick
Drone Valley will do, and looking forward to your upcoming vids with that 6k camera and swap. Wondering if you have any info on the transmission tech they are using to get that kind of range? Their claim of 5mi, if true, exceeds even the occusync2. This is all very exciting.
Nice to see Autel successful. Autel needs to send this to me. I live next to the Nevada test range. I can say what you said and be telling the gods honest truth. Thanks Rick. Love your enthusiasm.

Awesome competition is necessary for innovation, the free market is a wonderful thing and benefits us as the consumers. Would love to see more companies taking shots at DJI.
Wow.... looks like Autel nailed it with this one. Great intro/review man. This looks like the drone to beat in 2020 (and beyond?). Also really, really like the fact that they're an American company! I would purchase this in a heartbeat if budget allowed.
I would have liked to see the controller have a USB-C connector. So does obstacle avoidance just stop the drone or will it intelligently go around the obstacles?
The controller looks exactly identical to the EVO 1 which I have, the handles don't unfold and the maximum width the phone holder extends to is 3 1/4 " or 8.4cm, this takes the larger Samsung type phone S8+ etc, however there are various types of extenders out there but I'd be concerned that the hinge where it connects to the body of the controller could take the weight of something that much bigger. My S8+ is fine, just big enough. Cheers.

You said the buttons on the bottom can be programmed. Can they also be programmed on the Evo1 controller? If so, where can I go to find out how? Thanks.
Great stuff Rick. Now is it that the 8k is best if you like taking stills and video in ideal conditions and the 6k is best for a wider range of lighting conditions ? But not as good on stills ? Thanks

Because those antennas do not help when you’re flying in areas like mine with a lot of interference they’re not that good for distance over a mile in my case especially! My second question do you know if they have a parabolic lens that’ll fit that controller for those antennas I see the parabolic lenses for other drones but not for that controller do you know of a set that will fit that controller so I could try that before I do the mod for the hawks4 thanks Rick
The two additional things I would have liked to see on this drone are quick change camera assemblies for changing cameras in the field and an optical zoom camera option. It's inconvenient to have to remove screws and covers to change cameras. A much better approach would have been to just push a button and pop the camera out, then pop a different camera in. And a 5X optical zoom camera would really be nice.

The base price on the Evo 2 is $1499 so its not cheap but less than some other drones with these features. Stop back soon for more updates on the Evo 2. Rick
@@Dronevalley I was going off of the site info. Either way that is a huge time. And the price point is around the DJI drones that lack some of this tech. Looks like when I am able to upgrade from my Mavic Air this might be a game changer. New drone vs 2 months rent. I'm torn
Can the cam be swapped with 1" sensor? Is it noise friendly or noise pollution?
Very quiet. Camera can be swapped out once the 6k/1" sensor is released
Every new drone is a game changer
Do you know if the EVO 2 will be compatible with the current Autel Live Deck or will there be future Live Deck 2? Thanks. Nice overview.
I received an email back from Autel and the EVO 2 will be compatible with the current Live Deck.
Hi whats a good drone for a world traveller doing aerial shots? i need a budget one.
Wow, thanks Rich for your outstanding overview! I think I may be converting over to a EVO 2 once I get all the spec on the 8k or 6k to start with. I’ll be watching for you future videos on the new Drones, thank you!
Would love for you to do, at a minimum, of what the app looks like and the option for the flir camera. 👍
Now you need to do a video of the insta360 R camera
Thanks and I'll be working on that but first I need to get some sleep :)
Take a deep breath, Rick! Very exciting!
did they improve the crappy antenna pins?
Can the controller hold an iPad mini?
Great video just no info on internal storage or se card slot and size limits. If I heard right it’s got 8gb internal storage and up to 128gb se card? I may be wrong....thanks for the video it was an awesome review.
How quiet is it?
I hope in my next life i can speak like you.
Wow! Hands on already! Lucky guy. Congrats Rick!
Does this have a feature where if it goes down you can find it? My buddy has the first Devo and he lost it, it wasn’t even very far from him and he could never find it. It was in the dense woods in Alaska.
Great commercial for Autel !
Does the phone holder on the controller expand wide enough to hold an Ipad or is it limited to a phone ?
I have heard that they make and tablet holder that attaches to the remote
I thought the pro was supposed to have a 4/3 sensor.... does this thing have occusync 2.0?
It's not a DJI Drone...so No.
How much is the EVO LL?
Great video. Do you know if they have addressed remote ID requirements in the FAA NPRM that may pass in the near future?
That ? was answered by Ken in his video from CES. They are considering. However, it is not presently built in because the rules are still up in the air.(pun intended).🤔 Check out the originaldobo!
This is my dream drone
wnhat is the shutter speed range for photo mode? can it do long exposures?
Are there flight restrictions on this new drone?
No restrictions.
will the camera flip to portrait mode on the Evo 2 Pro? that's all i care about. that's one feature i miss from the Mavic 1 that i don't get with the Mavic 2 Pro.
Can this do 5.8ghz transmission drone valley?
