Rick, Thank you for passing along that hot new information on shipping and availability. Like you, my heart goes out to everyone affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Not to read anything more into it, but this is the first we are hearing confirmation from Autel Robotics of anything other than a firmware "bug" or the Chinese New Year delaying the release of EVO II. I am the fortunate winner of the EVO II giveaway that was held during CES in January. AR has been in touch with me and confirmed that I will be receiving the 8K version as soon as the production models ship along with the first retail orders.
Both the Evo 2 and EVO 2 Pro have 8X digital zoom but none of the cameras yet have an optical zoom. I agree that it would be amazing to have that and since the camera is removable, it's something they could offer as an upgrade with a new camera. I'll ping them to see if that's something they're considering. Rick
Great video and very informative. I received my Evo 2 about a week ago and love it. Still learning the drone and your vids are a huge help. Keep up the good work.
OK, so I can't use the FatShark googles but my HeadPlay uses a HDMI connection so with the LiveDeck I should be able to connect that to my HeadPlay and get video??? Any idea when the EVO Pro will come out...
Larry, thanks for the post and I'm glad you enjoyed the clip. I have a few more posting this week on the Skydio 2 and the EVO 2 so stay tuned for more. Rick
great video. We have flow this drone most of the summer and tested or used many of the accessorizes. It has pasted every test with flying colors. We also used extensively the Autel Live Deck with great results.. However after many questions of reviewers and viewing instruction videos, we still cannot get the Ethernet port of the Autel Live Deck working. This is an amazing accessory! The only video clip from Autel to address this output port is short, poorly done, and only addresses the IOS devises and says that it is the same for Andorid devises. I would appreciate any advice that you can offer. We do have some experience with WiFI routers networks and programming swarm drone flying, but are somehow missing the key to getting this working. One other thing worth covering is the ability to use the coach flight mode with two Autel controllers . This is seldom discussed, except in the public safety sections, but it is very good for safe drone training. Thank you.
Thanks for the post and I haven't been able to confirm pricing yet on those two models. I have a few questions in to Autel and will update the comments when I hear back about the pricing.
Rick, good video and nice overview. Can you please confirm the thermal sensor model planned for use in the dual version and is it radiometric capable? Thanks!
Thanks Rick it does. Non radiometric more than likely which is a huge letdown and failure in my opinion. Tell those Autel folks to get a true radiometric capable camera in there so we don't have to buy XT2 hardware and the M300 airframe.
Rick - thanks for all the info. I really enjoy your videos. Very informative. Are you saying Autel is giving you options between the Industrial, Commercial, and Consumer sensor lines or do you know what option they are using? I would assume the least expensive Consumer level sensor.
Ok....I am planning to get the Evo II and am certain that I will need more ram. I am presently sitting at 8 gigs of ram. I am planning to do all my video in at least 4K. So can you please advise what minimums I should have on my desktop. I can expand or just buy a new one....what about video card. Keep in mind I’m new to the drone industry.....but have been a pro photographer since the 70’s. So if you’d make recommendations on ram and video musts I should get, I’d appreciate it.
Glen, I'm glad you enjoyed the clip and I'll have more EVO 2 clips posting this week. I'm hoping to have the EVO 2 Pro in my hands very soon and will be doing some flight comparisons with that quad. Rick
@@Dronevalley I used to love the Anafi freedom but customer service just ruined it. Looked for an upgrade and decided on the new evo2 pro . Can't wait to shoot some good videos with it ;)
I really looks at this as a possible drone for what I'm wanting to do.. Two question I have is do you know what the payload capacity would be? I found the manual on the FCC page but I think its info is incorrect it actually says the maximum takeoff(including the drone) weight is less the the drone itself :-/. Also do you know if it will fly without a camera installed. I'm wanting to do some comunction testing with it and removing the camera to gain a larger payload would be a bonus.
I'm curious about the 8K/FLIR camera output. If the FLIR is 640 x 512, do they stretch that to "fit" over the 8K video, or would I just get a small picture in the center portion of the 8K feed? Obviously if they "stretch" the thermal image then you would get even less final resolution. Can you inquire at Autel and get some clarification? The thermal is my main interest for SAR. Thanks.
How do you like its waypoint flights. I use them at my farm to check on things. Lots of tree lines and i need views from no more than 10 ft distance so I do nothing but waypoints with points of interest.
Pretty exiting !! looking forward to upgrade to EVO 2 from my Mavic 2 Zoom. I have 1 question. I heard the propellers getting into the picture was an issue with the EVO 1. How is this on the EVO 2? did you get any props into the picture at all? Thanks !!!
Due to the placement of the camera on the Evo 2, props in shot are no longer a problem. Evo 1 camera has the camera to the side a bit which causes props at top left. The solution is to angle the camera down about 8 degrees to avoid prop shots. However, flying slowly you can fly at 0 degrees and not experience the issue.

The progressive levels of obstacle avoidance is a great feature. It allows you to creep up to your subject with confidence knowing you still have protection.

@@Dronevalley Would it have moved smoothly into the closest approach distance if it had been moving more slowly to begin with; rather than the faster two or three step you showed?
Nice video. Just two points though. You said that the camera on the EVO 2 (8k version) beats most terrestrial cameras. In my experience larger sensor size, dynamic range and high ISO performance - which protects dynamic range at higher ISO ranges are far more important than megapixels or 8k video resolution. Just seems like a bit of a bold statement, especially when you consider that most dedicated cameras - excluding mobile phones and action cameras are in the APS-C and full frame ranges. I'm sure a Nikon D500 or Sony a73, two very common cameras would trash the Evo 8k camera in terms of quality. The other point rests on future-proofing. I accept that it's important to upgrade with a view to longevity, however let's take the Athlon 64 bit CPUs from the early 2000s for an example. These single core CPUs were 64 bit in the 32 bit era - they cost quite a lot and people spent thousands on some CPUs variants feeling sure that they were future proofing their workstations. But then the dual CPUs hit, and not long after the quad core, and hyper threading technology, etc, etc. My point is, that in three or four years when 8k (as you say) will be common place, the Evo II will be a technology dinosaur just like the Athlon 64. Most won't still be flying, I'm sure updates will have ceased by then, and everyone will be after the next best drone. Let's be honest, you are naturally comparing the Evo II to the Mavic II, a drone released some 18 or so months ago, now considered old by many. 8k is great, but the hideously powerful PC required to comfortably edit the video, the monitor required to show 8k, and the drive space needed to store this footage, even in four years time will be very expensive. It seems to me that the 8k feature is a marketing gimmick. Some will be able ti use it (effectively) most won't. I know this will upset or trigger a few people, but I have to be honest in respect to how I see this. It's a great drone by all accounts, half inch sensor at 4k 60 is awesome, but still.....
Art of Light Images the mavic 2 is still way better in image quality. I compared the photo raw files and the dng files out of the autel evo 2 are far behind
Thanks for the post but I haven't gotten any solid details on the pricing of those two models yet and am waiting on an answer from Autel. They are both considered "commercial" versions and will be more expensive than the optical ones and as soon as I have those details (and one of the cameras for testing) I'll have a clip posted on the channel so stay tuned. Rick
Thanks for the reply but I can assure you that the number is wrong. I'm not sure who you heard that from but it will have to half that much to be competitive. I don't want to speculate so I'll comment more when I have the real retail pricing. Also remember that the camera can be purchased as an upgrade so that price will be lower still since you already own the drone if you bought the EVO 2 or EVO 2 Pro. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the reply and I'm sure they weren't lying but there's always a lot of speculation on new gear and that's why I'd rather confirm pricing before offering any opinion. As far as I know the pricing for the Dual hasn't even been set yet so we're really early on that disucssion. I promise that I'll get to the bottom of it so stay tuned. Rick
Looks like a promising drone. I'm surprised that it's not using a USB-C connection for charging instead. I hope it can film in a log profile at 100 ISO.... and I hope it's non-compliant with FAA spyware!
👍👏 Nice job explaining Rick , I'm a Mavic 2 pro w/smart controller owner , absolutely love my drone and bought a few products from you for it , works great , thanks buddy
I am so impressed with the way you present your knowledge and expertise of the Evo 2. I have the Evo original and love it. Thank you for your passion about drones and for sharing your expert knowledge and thoughts. I have learned so much from your videos. Thanks.

QUESTION: Are there any times that you see the front props in the video frame? Like when traveling forward at full speed or quickly changing directions? Thanks so much for the great video!

Hi, also meant to say, any idea about camera filters etc, I have the EVO 1 with a set of filters, guess they are not gonna fit the 2, also how would they fit.... ?

Thanks for the post and I'm glad you're enjoying the cables. We spent a lot of time on the design of them and are pretty proud of how they turned out. We'll have a few new items releasing in March so stay tuned for those.
Thanks for the post and all of these drones have issues with small wires in the sky. It depends on how much light you have and if there is enough contrast between the wires and the sky for the sensors to pick up on. My suggestions is to be very careful around wires in general, especially on cloudy days. Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick
Thanks for posting and I'm glad you enjoyed the clip. I try and pack as much information into the videos as possible and will have more content posting soon. Thanks, Rick
I love the idea of the EVO 2 Pro and intend to purchase one at this time. However my biggest concern is the ability to use 3rd party app.. (drone harmony, Litchi, Map Pilot etc). I have the Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom and they integrate with many 3rd party apps. I also own an EVO 1. From what I've seen the EVO 2 is probably the best Pro-Sumer drone, spec wise but the real issue on how popular it will be with the professional drone service and photography industry is how well it will work with 3rd party apps. Any idea if Autel is aggressively pursuing this integration topic? Thus far it seems they have/are not.
I like your videos but would like them even more if I had my Evo 2 pro.....ordered it about a month ago and starting to wonder what’s going on....any thoughts?
Autel does have an "FPV" setting in the software that locks the camera and tweaks the flying parameters but I'm not sure which goggles will work with it yet. It's one of the things on my list for testing so stay tuned for an update. Rick
Hey Rick, I have a couple questions. I fly the Mavic 2 pro and I like a lot of features of the Evo 2 but there are some unanswered questions on items I like on the Mavic2 pro 1. Can you operate it with two controllers ie camera/pilot 2. Can you manually pan the camera 3. Does it have GPS waypoints 4. On the 8K version I noticed it has a 1/2 inch sensor. Once you crop it down do you really have 8k to work with? 5. I also noticed it doesn't have 5.8 ghz just the single 2.4 channel. Wondering if they have plans to host a second channel. I love the additional flight time and additional 2 sensors but in comparison to the 7 intelligent flight modes of the Mavic 2 pro, it appears we have two different drones for two different markets. Since you fly both I thought I would get your opinion before I buy the Evo 2 pro over a second Mavic 2 pro.
Rick. I've been watching your videos for years. Always Like and have used you as a reference many times to make a point in an argument. However, if I hear you say, "I know this video ran a little long, but"..... Every time I watch one of your videos I think, well, it's long (again), so I'll just hit the reference time marks. No. You are so engaging and enthusiastic I end up watching from beginning to end. I'm just going to have to adjust. Bag of popcorn on your future videos. Great work.
I have Evo, and other drones from DJI. Evo has been a great drone since I bought it. Every drone I fly has some issue where you can get a degree or so of gimbal tilt. So much causes that. High winds, hard turns, and gimbal resettling times. With my Evo and others, I tend to set any gimbal correction in hover at about the altitude I plan to shoot my photos or video. Doing this works well, and yes on some days I may have -1.2 adjustment, and others may be + 1 or so. It depends on the conditions, and environment. None can fly at high speeds, do drastic turns, and then have a perfectly straight horizon.. None of the foldable drones I use anyway.. M2P, Evo, MP, MA, etc. Phantom is much better in that regard but it's a completely different design.

Great work! very nice indeed well done Rick 😃👍
Great vid👍👍👍👍
Thanks for stopping by and posting. This EVO 2 is pretty amazing and I'll have a few more clips up this week so be sure to sub and stop back. Rick
Rick thank you for giving us the answers we wanted!
I used to think you were simply a know it all and was irritated with you, but I know I was completely wrong about that and I apologize. Thank you for your passion about drones and for sharing your expert knowledge and thoughts. I have learned so much from your videos. Thanks.
Winslow, thanks so much for the post and I'm glad that you gave me a second chance. I'm just a passionate flier that loves talking about tech. I really enjoy the hobby (and tech in general) and get a chance to talk about it on the channel so I'm not driving my family nuts with my excitement. I'll have a lot more content posting soon so be sure to stop back and also let me know if you have any questions you need answered on the EVO 2. Rick
Nice video. Thank you sir!
Thanks for the post and stay tuned as I'll be testing the charging hub and FlightDeck for the EVO 2 very soon on the channel.
@@Dronevalley I would like to see it!
Thank you! Help me please to find USER MANUAL (Instruction) ti this dron. I have bought Autel Eva 2 and do not know how to use it. Help me please.
Thank you sir! Answered several questions I had.
Hello I do not know which one to choose between these three versions the dual version for that infrared camera m interests me a lot but it only develops in 4k? The 8k is not bad on evo2 how to choose it is not simple that advise me please
QUESTION: Are there any times that you see the front props in the video frame? Like when traveling forward at full speed or quickly changing directions?
Thanks so much for the great video!
Thanks for the comment and I haven't seen the props in any of the clips at all. I've been flying it for a few weeks in all kinds of conditions and there has been no prop intrusion in the images. I'll have more content posting this weekend so be sure to stop back. Rick
Hi, also meant to say, any idea about camera filters etc, I have the EVO 1 with a set of filters, guess they are not gonna fit the 2, also how would they fit.... ?
Sir plz check the range of evo
How long go evo
Do you know when i will be able to purchase it?
Jose, they are available for purchase now but there are some delays in shipping due to the Corona Virus, which is slowing everything down. Thanks for the post and stay tuned for more content posting soon. Rick
Thank you sir! Always enjoyed your videos.
Price on the EVO 2 Duel ? Price
Where are the clips you mentioned?
Ordered mine from Drone Works from Zack Davis.....heard anything about shipping of these drones?
Love your new cables. Just got the Hydra 3 in 1 cable and the Mavic Mini cable. So flexible and seems like they will be very durable. God job Rick.
Thanks for the post and I'm glad you're enjoying the cables. We spent a lot of time on the design of them and are pretty proud of how they turned out. We'll have a few new items releasing in March so stay tuned for those.
Rick,Great Video Thanks
Can it be flown in the rain? I dont want to be grounded for rain.
Does the Camera have a Mechanical (Global) or Electronic shutter? Looking to avoid rolling shutter distortion for mapping/surveying
Since this is the best drone in terms of specs... can the obstacle avoidance detect power cables?
Thanks for the post and all of these drones have issues with small wires in the sky. It depends on how much light you have and if there is enough contrast between the wires and the sky for the sensors to pick up on. My suggestions is to be very careful around wires in general, especially on cloudy days. Stay tuned for more content this week. Rick
I want to now if it is going to be easily made in to a NDVI agriculture scouting drone?
what were the camera settings you used for your footage
All of your videos are super efficient.
Thanks for posting and I'm glad you enjoyed the clip. I try and pack as much information into the videos as possible and will have more content posting soon. Thanks, Rick
What is the price on the Dual with the best camera? I missed that some where.
Jackson's Ramblings
A lot I’m guessing
Can you use and Crystalsky with this controller
Hey Rick, doesn't one model have a 48 mp camera for stills?
Hello Rick how can I reach you directly?
Shoot me an email - rick@dronevalley.com
Nice Q&A, thx. Have Autel added a POI feature to their waypoint following?
how abuts waterproof?
when is this thing going to be for sale!?? heard DJI is coming out with a new bad ass one :)
Great video! Thank you
Dan, great to see you stopping by and I hope you're getting some great flights in. Spring will be here soon and I'm excited to get back outside!
Thanks for all your great reviews. I was wondering if the Evo 2 controller will work with the Ipad Mini?
Great review Rick. Can you FPV with the EVO II? If so what googles will work? Love mine DJI Goggles.
Autel does have an "FPV" setting in the software that locks the camera and tweaks the flying parameters but I'm not sure which goggles will work with it yet. It's one of the things on my list for testing so stay tuned for an update. Rick
Autel specs say the e2 comes with a preheated camera, what can you tell us about that ?
Hey Rick, I have a couple questions. I fly the Mavic 2 pro and I like a lot of features of the Evo 2 but there are some unanswered questions on items I like on the Mavic2 pro
1. Can you operate it with two controllers ie camera/pilot
2. Can you manually pan the camera
3. Does it have GPS waypoints
Nice, i do like this one 👍👍👍
Great work.
cant wait to see the Evo 2 pro 6k footage
Rick, where is the promised 10 bit video on the EVO ll Pro???
I love this drone where can i order this drone and do they deliver to South Africa ?
Thank you! Nice video. Evo II offers zoom camera, right? Also when is the video comparison with Skydio R2 coming out?
