I've tested countless things. The sole things that really worked in my case: A good diet, decent sleeping timings, moving your body at least for 20 mins, eating right, using quality shampoo and oil. I use only liiitleextra cocooionn shampoo with hair oil for this reason and it does the job. The hairfall was under control with it.
I was looking for hair oil which is not too sticky and contains natural ingredients. The liittllextra coocoonion oil is excellent so I will order it again. The natural ingredients, such as coconut and rosemary, reduced my hair fall.
All this time I felt like I was breaking a rule using clarifying shampoo for every wash, but I only wash every few days and I use a LOT of product, so my hair was just a lot nicer to me once I started doing that. Thanks for the confirmation!
Thank you for confirming its okay to use clarifying shampoos with sulfphates. We're so often told as curlies to not use sulfphates but recently I started using it again and my hair has never looked better! For reference, I have thin, low perosity hair, only wash twice a week and workout heavily so there's a lot of buildup!
This video might be the world’s best PSA for anyone who wants to have healthy and clean scalp and hair! So much information out there that doesn’t help but this video is amazing!
Mell!! When you talked about chelating shampoos I just knew I needed this! My water is so hard and I could just never seem to fix my hair no matter what I tried. So I got that Malibu product you recommended (and a shower filter 😉) and my hair is so much better! It doesn’t stick together like Velcro anymore after cleansing and detangling! 😅🙌🏽
Some of my clients reported me, that they had issues with sulfate free shampoos. They had the feeling of having residues from the shampoos, kind of a greasy clogg. So I advised them to prefoam the shampoo by rubbing it hard between the hands to get a fine lather before applying it to the scalp. And this worked great. It distribustes much better so the needed less product und it rinsed out thoughly, no residues left. Maybe that can help some of your viewers too. I do that for every foaming product now and it also works very well for facial cleansers. My skin never felt so clean 😊
That advice about the purple shampoo. I've been questioning in my head for months if I should be putting it on my scalp when it's my ends that are colored. Thank you!! I feel confident to go ahead and use both shampoo's and only using the purple on my ends and it will most definitely make it last longer!
HI! Could you maybe do a video on how to part the hair or do a “no-parting”, because I don’t know what’s wrong with my hair but I can never get it to part differently than in the middle.
i cannot tell you how much i owe you!! i foundd yor channel a week ago , and BOOOYYY did my life change with it!!! i have been scared of transitioning for yeaaars, thinking that's IMPOSSIBLE to style curly hair, and one day there you were.. i shampooed, conditioned and styled the way you taught me (oh so well!) and I WANT TO KISS YOUUUU!!!! 😂 thank you soo much!! anf you're so funny!!
Hi Mell!! Can we see a video of Amanda doing her long curly hair routine by herself, Idk why I end up twisting my hands while styling would love to see her doing her routine by herself!!! XOXO❤️
Hi Mell! Amazing video as always 😄 I have managed to convince my mother to try and revive her curl pattern and it seems to be working so far. 🤩She has quite the amount of waves and thin hair, who knows she might have 3a curls like me? 🤔 Anyways, I was wondering if you maybe had some tips and tricks for grey/going grey curly hair? Many thanks 😁💞
great video Mel. also can I just say,,,, LOVING the hairdo w the scarf. would love a video on how to style hair using a scarf/anything else in a way that protects the curls, esp for day 3/4/5 hair. love you
Mel, you got me to realize, that I needed Moisture for my Spider Web fine, Dense Hair!!! I use a clarifying shampoo once a Month. OK, now I have to find a Chelating Shampoo!!! Thank You, for that info!!! We have "Hard Water"!
Yessss scientify Mell!! Thanks for this video!once again you've helped me understand the difference between shampoos and times 2 use it. Once again your curls look amazing 👏😍
I recently stopped coloring my grey hair. My beautiful curls are not so curly now, and frizz is what I am fighting. Can you do a video on naturally gray hair and how to treat it? Thanks so much!
Absolutely I’d love to, working on finding a model/guest to demonstrate how to treat greys! You’re likely experiencing these things because GREY (not white hair) has more protein and can be more resistant aka lower porosity especially than when you were colouring. I plan on talking more about low porosity soon to share how to moisturize it which will help tame the frizz! 💖
can you make a video about protective hairstyles that aren’t braids and such and that are simple ? i have 3B curls and i live in toronto so yak, we’re in lockdown, so my hair is getting damaged just staying at home, especially since i can’t/ don’t know how to braid my hair. should i put products/ oils everytime i do a protective style?
Happy Texture Tuesday! Thanks for blessing us with your expertise! I guess I need a chelating shampoo 😀 would have never known if it wasn’t for you! ☺️ (Hope you liked my rhyme 😆)
I have colored hair but also curly hair and I never know whether to use a curly hair shampoo or a colored hair shampoo. What should I do ? Are curly shampoos really working ?
I really need a better shampoo for wavy dry hair. Some are too stripping they make my hair frizzy. Some dont cleanse well or leave residue. I feel like most sulfate free ones leave scalp residue and sulfate ones make my hair poofy. Any wavy girl suggestions for a good one ?? Ugh.
Fellow wavy (2c) here👋 Have you tried the Jessicurl gentle lather shampoo? It’s cleansing but also moisturizing and it’s sulfate and silicone free. Also Giovanni shampoos are sulfate and silicone free but also very cleansing almost clarifying
I watched that dude's video who hadn't use shampoo in five years and it's not that I have a problem with that, it's his hair, it's that he threw shampoo and conditioner into the "it's all the same" bucket, which is not true. Yeah, using stinky dollar holla SLS shampoo is going to be hard on your hair, but it's literally not the only option.
My hair is both thick and fine...so I get lots of flyaways, but also dry ends...Products can make my skin break out when it is warm and sunny, on the back of my neck and around the hairline, so I need a clarifying shampoo..
Thank you!!! This video has finally answered my question as to whether of not my anti-thinning shampoo is cleansing or not. It feels like it is but from the ingredients I couldn't tell.
Hey Mell! I really appreciate your videos! Awesome. Fun. And informative! I was wondering, as a Lush fan myself, have you done any videos for or tried any Lush products? Thank you!
I think a co-wash is great for when I need to wash on day 2 or in the summer when I swim most days (of course, paired with more clarifying options!). But yeah, if I use it alone by scalp hates me!
this is perfect timing! my hair has been really disliking the hard water at my uni town, I've tried rinsing with filtered water but it isn't cutting it. Guess I should start hunting for a chelating shampoo!
Hi Mell! I got my hair bayalaged from dark dark brown to blonde the other day 🤗 I saw your video from 4 months ago on how to preserve color etc. In that video you talk about avoiding to get your hair wet too much. Does this mean you also recommend not to use water to refresh curls in between washes?
I wish more of hair UA-cam was willing to listen to this science. We'd all be better off with understanding the type of shampoo we need and when and washed consistently.
Can you please do a review on Calia Naturals or KORRES Aloe line? They are clean products and though they are sulfate free I feel as though they clarify my hair and the Calia Naturals shampoo is definitely clear.
Hi Mell! Just wondered if you know of any brands for semi permanent hair dyes that don't destroy your hair? I live in the UK so I might not be able to get the brand's you recommend but I'll try to find them! Thanks!!!
Mel! This was very helpful! I would say that we have a very similar curl pattern, and I am finding that my scalp is ready to do be washed by day 4-5 as I experience a lot of itchiness. I am also pretty active with working out but living in Toronto (heyyyy girl), I stay home to work with occasionally going outside. SAYING ALLLLLAA THAT to ask you, what are your thoughts about protective styling? I do like to put braids in once a year, and I was wondering if you have any information on preparing hair and scalp for a protective style (braids) to last about 2-3 weeks (my scalp just cried at the thought of not washing it for 2-3 weeks lool). But seriously, what are some precautions to take? Can my hair fall out doing protective styles (specifically, braids)?
Help! My question is why do I have a top layer of hair that dries super frizzy and flyaway and straighter than the rest of my hair? The hair underneath the top layer is all nicely coiled. It's a bizarre combination that looks awful. I air dry my hair and no chemical treatments and no swimming. Edited to add that friends and even acquaintances often tell me my hair looks like it needs brushing but brushing doesn't help.
Mel has some other great videos, where she explains the type of ingredients in your products (especially the styling ones) that you should avoid or use to fight frizz. I think you will find them helpful.😊
Mell, absolutely love your videos. I have recommend many of my curly friends to check out your videos for transitioning their hair. I do have a question though, what are your thoughts on Shampoo and Conditioning Bars? I would like to see a product review of Viori specifically.
Hello! So being a curly hair i have found that I am not taking care of my hair properly. There is a lot of things I have realized that aren't doing my hair any good through watching your videos. I want to fix it but I really don't have any idea where to start. Maybe you have some tips for this or you already have a video on starting a curlyhair journey?
This was so informative! I'd love to see a video about curly hairstyles that help to hide thinning hair. As someone who struggles with premature thinning (as a woman) it can be hard to find hair cuts and styles to hide the thinning.
Omg so much needed this video!!! What about like thickening shampoo? I have really fine hair and hair loss and using the aveda invati line.. but once every week I use the curlsmith detox kit. Since I wash my day every 5 days. What is your advice? Is it a special treatment shampoo?
What if u swim everyday but have product buildup and oily scalp, how often do u chelate? If u clarify once a week what other shampoo do u use unless clarifying is all u need?
Can you do a video diving deeper into demi permanent hair dye? I don't know if there are any limiting factors to using other products after because it is depositing colour into hair. Do other products no longer work as well, like adding permanent dye when the demi fades, or not liking the results. The concept is so confusing to me but I want to give it ago to hide greys without sabotaging all my curly hair efforts.
I know this is random but does our hair porosity have any effect on what shampoos we use? I have low porosity hair that happens to be medium thickness. Should I be using something more moisturizing? Or something with more protein also, Mel. Can you make a video on shampoos directed toward hair loss? Do they actually work
Yes actually some people will do deep conditioning treatments before shampooing, but I would recommend searching for volumizing shampoo/conditioners, they exist! Aveda, Verb, and AG all have very good ones!
My hair can go 2-3 weeks w/o washing and still not be or look gressy but it's not dry either🤷🏼♀️. On wash day I usually use briogeo scalp revival mixed with either hask purifying or ogx teatree mint shampoo after I use Jessicurl gentle lather(which is great on it's own but bc I don't wash often it needs some help). I also have been trying out some of the shea moisture products which are amazing 🖤
Use a mix 😆 cleansing conditioner (goldwell kerasilk) in-between low poo (olaplex) that I use weekly. Every couple weeks switch out olaplex for fanola free purple to tone my highlights and give my scalp a more thorough scrub. I have fine wavy hair x
Tips for someone with shorter hair wanting to get their natural curls after pretty much damaging it since they were 12 not me,,,,,, asking for a friend definitely O:-) ??

There’s so many at the drugstore that are silicone based and super super effective! They definitely don’t have to be expensive💖 I did a live video you can rewatch on amazon here: www.amazon.com/live/broadcast/94f983db-eab3-4dee-b80d-78624a513c9b
Love the video, for example I notice that on the warmer weather I do not need to clarify as often as in winter but I need a shampoo that is lighter because if not my poor hair is weight down...so I love to keep learning new stuff from the seesters.

From Lush, they’re amazing!

There’s so many at the drugstore that are silicone based and super super effective! They definitely don’t have to be expensive💖 I did a live video you can rewatch on amazon here: www.amazon.com/live/broadcast/94f983db-eab3-4dee-b80d-78624a513c9b
Scientify Mel was rocking that head scarf! Looking good! 🤩 Thanks for another great informative video.
Love the video, for example I notice that on the warmer weather I do not need to clarify as often as in winter but I need a shampoo that is lighter because if not my poor hair is weight down...so I love to keep learning new stuff from the seesters.
Love this video, so informative and fun to watch 😍😍😍
I’m going to Egypt for a month to see family and I’m going to be swimming a lot so what shampoos and hair care would keep my curly hair healthy
Your hair is gorgeous! Love your bangs! 🥰🥰
