When I was a kid my Grandpa used to say "If you can't pay cash for something, you haven't worked hard enough for it" and "If you can't fix what you own, maybe you're not smart enough to own it". At the time it didn't make any sense to me, now that's pretty much how I live everyday. Thanks Grandpa..

Been struggling for 5 years straight now, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. It's all about persistence and the will to keep going. Having a strong support network is key to being able to rejoice in your suffering and bring light to the situation. YOU CAN DO IT. WE CAN DO IT.

Similar story -- Dug myself up from 2014-'18, then hit a series of hard knocks putting me back into the 'reset' position -- but this time more mentally and spiritually equipped to handle it. The process worked when I really accepted pain and suffering rather than trying to avoid pain and suffering.

My sweet Mama was a perfect example of this. When I was 2, and she was pregnant with my sister, she got diagnosed with cancer. She fought it for 5 years, and in that 5 years she rejoiced in her suffering. She really did. Her joyful spirit stood out so clearly to me in my little mind. Let me tell you, she experienced pain that was unimaginable, she knew she was going to pass and leave four young children, and her husband, but her Faith that God would take care of what she couldn’t, was beyond measure. Her example has been a major guide in my life. That legacy was Gods plan for her life on this earth, she touched countless lives in the sharing of her Faith during her illness. People will still come up to me and tell me how she helped to bring them to Christ. I’m so proud to be her daughter, and I can only hope to be half the mother, and wife that she was.
The joy of the Lord is my strength.
    Nehemiah 8:10

Mr. Ramsey i could feel you speaking to me and i couldn’t help but cry listening to your words sir. My wife and i recently split after 5 years of marriage and being together 10 years. We have a son and so it’s been a week. But I’ve been hurting bad and I’m trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Whether it’s to get back with my wife or not I’m struggling to see my Worth through Gods Eyes. I don’t want to suffer anymore. I know my actions put me where I’m at today. I’m thankful i had a friend who introduced me to your videos as i hadn’t heard about you. But I’ve recently just subscribed and for the first time tonight i find myself looking up books to purchase to read. I will get out this rut I’m in and I’ll finally stop talking and do something. So again thank you sir.

Best message I've heard on your show! I have come to that 'never again' moment! I'm zeroing in on my debt and my goal is 6 years (max!) to be completely debt free! My dream is to live on land and off the land. I honestly really want to homestead (been a dream of mine since I was a little girl!). I was born on the 4th of July so that might attribute to my independent personality, but I loathe the thought of relying on other people (namely the government)! I've always wanted to be self-sufficient in every way possible. Anyway, this lockdown has been a secret blessing for me, because it's helped me to realize what's really important in my life and what I actually want to make of it! I've been binge-listening for several weeks now and your messages are starting to hit me hard which is another fuel I need to keep me motivated. Thank you!! 😁

Getting my bills paid because I asked God to help me. He helped me through people and I am glad he did. I rejoice in that part so maybe that's rejoicing in my suffering (while going through the circumstances). It's still hard to see God's plan through this when the buildings set aside for worshipping of him are closed. I know the church is inside of you but I like it when I can assemble together with like minded individuals in one building not at home in a virtual service. Things are going to be better?! Good, then God can also reopen the church building too.

    • @RM-qq5rj
      @RM-qq5rj 4 роки тому +2

Nunyo Bidness I would like to hear Dave's take on that too, but there are some good sermons out there that address that scripture. I've felt conflicted about it also - but one preacher said it was because the man said he'd followed all the other laws and Jesus was making a point to show that everyone has some sort of weakness or area of sin (idolatry/love of riches in this case) that they fall short in and need to give up to truly follow Jesus. If the man hadn't held money above His spiritual salvation He would have easily left it behind and followed Jesus. In general, people that are rich trust in their earthly riches over trusting in God, basically, which is what makes it idolatry. They elevate and rely on earthly, materialistic provision above God.

I was broke for years after I married a man who was in debt. It was supernatural how it happened. It ground me down-all that debt and lack. I sought God's help just like Dave did. He gave me a strategy that parallels Dave's baby steps but my then husband objected to the plan so I caved and didn't follow through. If I had followed through despite his objections, our marriage probably would have been saved. But through it all, God carried me through.

and after he brought them out, he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house.

Everything is transitory. This, too, will pass.
I hope things get much better for you soon!

Each person looks at it differently. When you have children, you may feel, “If a better day is not coming for me, then for my children.” When you don’t have children, you are mostly waiting for a better day for yourself.
That recession that the bean counters said ended Summer 2009? Took me about 8 more years for things to get better. Almost committed suicide. I was out of money, with my mother laughing at the notion that I might take my life. I’ve done better since that time. Far better. I have an emergency fund, albeit 3-6 months is for more normal times than this seemingly traipse into the abyss of not knowing when or how it will turn out. I still have my job, WFH and my mother? Well that NPD witch can drop dead and I wouldn’t care a lick about it.
I don’t know what to call “better”. I don’t know, yet, that “better” means having your head held underwater, coming up for air and repeating the process. As Jeffrey Toobin once said on Charlie Rose, he has friends who will never recover from the recession. I know there are people who haven’t even done as well as I have, which isn’t completely terrific - and here this comes. Not even those who suffered through the depression had to go through it twice. So, we have yet to see whether, for many of us, it actually gets “better”, whether it’s defined differently, like being able to get a can of meat in a food shortage, or whether someone tells them the proverbial, “It’s better because you’re still alive.” For some, that’s not “better”. It’s simply continued suffering, with a pat on the back.
I hope it does get better. Better for everyone, including those I have nothing in common with, racially, economically, or politically. Because going through this once can be disastrous. Going through I twice? There just are no words.

If you listen to Dave, you will know he says he believesphilosophy on money and life are BIBLICALLY based. Now, I don't seek answers for spirituality from him but I like the fact that he is a Christian man and is not afraid to tell the world who he is and how God delivered him. I find it a bit sad when I hear people make the statements in your first sentence because in reality you will never find joy in this life through things or people. Know one or nothing (including) money will never bring you joy except for the LOVE of the Father above. Your spouse may disappoint you and your children may do the same. But the joy and love of the Father is never-ending. Yes, there are many people in the world who don't know where their next meal will come from but still have joy in their hearts...it's that not a miracle from God. Trust me I've seen this having travelled to many parts of Africa. Seek the joy and love of God and peace will rule your heart! Take care.

Charm223 you are welcome to having your own belief system and, yes, I understand the notion that God allows many to suffer and others to prosper - but, he loves us all... That’s very popular. But, it isn’t my belief system that a loving god would allow that. I’m absolutely allowed to believe that, without entering the gleeful abyss that, no matter what, God loves us all or whatever. The idea of, “You are poor and starving. Let God be your savior - which will make you happy regardless and, if you can’t settle with that, then shame on you.” Yeah, that’s been fed to the poor for a very, very long time. Money doesn’t always bring happiness, but no one tells me to be poor as delighted about it either.
