There are so many great Skynrd songs and if it wasn't for Scott's tutorials I wouldn't be learning them. He breaks them down with precision and inspires me to learn new stuff that I would not have tackled on my own. Thanks Scott!
So glad you got to play w/ Ed King and understand too, why he invited you by. Your respect for the music & ability to explain it very impressive. RIP EK & SG.
I was watching pt.1 praying that you already have pt.2!!! I'm so glad you did this song!!! Note for note, Your Badass!!! And in, A.P.B.!!! Thanks again, 🇺🇸🎸🇺🇸...
Hi Scott. I just checked out your channel for the first time, and you’ve done a great job showing how to play some of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s best songs. I’m really having a lot of fun with this!! My goal is to play I Know a Little, so I’ll be spending some serious time right here learning from you. Thanks so much!!
Brilliant tutorial! You are making one helluva mark on my abilities . I have played long enough that my hands will do most anything I tell them. I just have to know what to tell them. That is where you come in. Please keep it up! This music stands the test of time! i
Thank you Scott for your dedication to the music of Skynyrd! Been playing these tunes for over 45 years. You’ve helped me fill in all that I was leaving out for so long. Would love to see a tutorial for one of my most favorite songs, “Roll Gypsy Roll”. (If you have time). Keep the classics alive! Take care.
Thank you so much for the great tutorials Scott, I really enjoy learning from them. In the request category, other than more Skynyrd any Blackfoot you'd care to share would always be a welcome edition in my opinion. Again thank you so much !!
Thank you for sharing Scott It’s amazing how you get the same tone and sound that Steve had 47 years ago. I know technology helps, but you’re playing is amazing !
Pershee-ate it, Scott! I used to be able to whistle when i said that, but the upper plate in my false teeth gets in the way now, lol. One of my all-time fav-o-rite songs, cuz i like the guitar sounds. Whazzat a Dobro for the slide solo? Kinda sounds like some kinda rezzer-nator. Perty sure Steve or some-body played one sometimes. Skynyrd forever! Yay. >>Jeffro
Man, Dude! Very impressive!! "Note for note" is the only way to truly honor a song! My brother and I have a great ear like you and copy ABB, Skynyrd "note for note"!!!👍
@@seraines It’s just like anything else, Scott: you gotta put your time in. and you got to humble yourself and know that the guitarist you are learning from has got some good musical ideas too. You’re doing a good job- I hope you’re playing out regularly... and making some walking around money !
Steve Gains has never got the credit due to the music of Skynard. His long ass fingers. And knowledge of the B.B. BOX. IM A TOTAL LOVER OF HENDRIX. AND GAINES WAS RIGHT THERE WITH HIM.
Scott, I have to ask. As a life long fan as I'm sure you're are, who would you say created the hardest guitar parts in the band? Steve Gains, Ed King, Allen Collins or Gary Rossington? They all sounded great together but I've always been a huge Rossington fan but Allen created the master piece solo on "Free Bird." However, "I Know A Little is just insane.. Steve Gains killed it on that one. Then again, Ed King sure wasn't chump change either. I figured you of all people would know the answer to this question. Also tell MR Groove maker that I've always loved his drum work. I wish I lived closer to you guys. Peace.. Joe
Hi Joe. All of them had their own quirky styles that provided challenges. Not just in finding and executing the notes, but the subtle nuances that were so individually unique.
@@seraines Thanks for your response. I hope you and your lovely family are doing well. Thanks for making lesson video's to help keep the music alive. I absolutely loved your Ed King story. That story is one for the books. Take good care. Peace.. Joe
So my band did this song when it was new back in the day. Back when we were lifting needles off the records one million times o learn these songs. So you had to get pretty good with your ears or just gave in and hacked parts. I was the former. I also had to learn the bass part for this which is pretty respectable as well. Unless you brought the original band members back to show you how they played this no two guys learned it exactly the same im sure. Even they probably changed it around. This is close as it needs to be. I play some things a little different and think I have those parts correct. Nice vid though.
EVERYTIME I hear his picking. I drift further south. Praise the Lord.
Scott you cover Lynyrd Skynyrd better than anyone else. Thank you for the videos.

Killed it..Steve Gains was really a great player..Wish we could have had more..He heavily influenced the Street Surviver album..Hes all over it.
Your playing and tutorials are fantastic!

Note for note,
Your Badass!!!

Good to see a new tutorial. Thank you!
Thanks Scott great video
Been waiting for this for a while, thanks brother.
Thanks for this one Scott. I’ve been playing it all wrong all theses years. Lol. Now I can play it right. 👍
I've watched 2 of your videos. I play all these songs but you've made me realize how much I "cheat" my Skynrd solos. Will try and improve, thanks!
So much going on in this, I can't wait to start learning it. Thanks!
Just Amazing how much time and effort it must take to create a song such as this.
Playing it slow has a lot of value and is appreciated. But tabs + timing of the licks would take it to the next level
Another great song, can you please show us double trouble. What a great riff that song has. It’s great to see you again Thanks
Awesome
Thank you sir !!!!!!
Good teacher.
Scott thanks for doing this one. I'll be working on it. See you in McMinnville and probably over in Boone. Peace out!
Sweet!
Thank you now i can play the very beginning

Could you do the slide part too ?

I always love playing ABB as well. Incredible music!

Thanks, I needed the verse-chords,
I didn't spend much time on sorting
them out, and didn't realize that the 'one'
chord was D9.
Sweet!
Would love to see the slide guitar part to I know a little…. Great teaching btw
Maybe one day I can get this
I been missing you, brother
Great. Great. The neck looks almost Brazilian, ?
As well,
As...
"Ed King!".

UA-cam is lacking a lesson on That Smell
In the pipeline 👍🏼
His tuning for Freebird was E-A-D-G-G-E, He mainly used open E for slide but he would use standard from time to time.
Gary played the slide in Freebird. These licks are from Steve Gains

Do you play 10s? Or something lighter?
9.5’s mostly
yes, slides & pulloffs are everyones friend who are not Steve Gaines, which is most all of us (except Raines) ;))))) hahahahaha
haha
😢
Do tabs
Only “tutorial” on this song that I can actually comprehend and follow lol, all others are too fast pace

We learned the same way. Needle on the record. 👌🏼
