      Dear Clarice, Thank you so much for your kind words. I retired four years ago after 30 years of professional fabricating. I'm happy to hand off the baton to younger, more tech-savvy sewing tutors. But please know, I am here for you if you have questions that I can answer or advice to share. I wish you every sewing success. Sincerely, Peg

    All I can say is... you are awesome. I'm new to sewing and am looking to recover my patio furniture and was terrified of adding the piping but you made it look so easy. I feel a lot more confident now that I have the technique. Thank you for that.

    Fantastic! I love it! Thank you so much! Very helpful. My husband bought a very nice and latest machine for me to play. I went to a sewing class and paid more than a hundred dollars for 4 times a week, Now no need to pay! Love it! That is so kind of you for sharing us your talent and skills. Muah

    Peg, I viewed about ten videos until I found yours. Your video was the only one that showed how to sew around the corners. I like the steps put into separate videos that way if there is only one step I need I don't have to scroll through the lesson. Thank you

    I just love your clear and easy to follow instructions. I am new to sewing and I want to make a cover for a juton type pillow my husband brought from Japan. ( It is a 23 1/2 in. X 19 1/2 in. flat pillow that is used to sit on the floor at the table or kotatsu table. ) I've been very nervous about putting piping around it at all. ( It does not have any, but I think it will add so much to it). I bought some ready made gold cord with the hem allowance, I don't know if I'm naming it correctly, I'm hoping the application is the same. I bragged about your wonderful instructional videos to my Mother, who is a great seamstress. I subscribed to your channel and just want to watch everything you've posted! Thank You again!

      +April Takahashi Hello, April! Thank you so much for writing. Your Japanese pillow project sounds very interesting; the gold cord (sometimes called "lip cord" because of the ribbon it's sewn to) will make it quite stunning. Please keep me up to date on your progress. You can write to me and send photos if you wish to littlebug903@yahoo.com. Best wishes! Peg

    Love your videos. Is the lip on the piping a full 1/2 inch? It just looks wider than that to me. I am assuming the lip is 1/2 inch so that when it is applied to the cushion front/back it is sewn a half inch in.

    • @PegBakerSlipcovers
      @PegBakerSlipcovers  4 роки тому +1

      Hello, Kelly. Yes and no! My goal is a 1/2" lip. The thickness or thinness of the fabric and the thickness or thinness of the welt cord can make a difference. If the fabric is thick I often add 1/8" to the bias strip. If the lip ends up less than 1/2" I adjust the placement on the piece being piped. I hope this is helpful. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely, Peg

    Wrap your cording with scotch tape were your cut line is in the center of it before you cut the cording. This keeps the cording the same size after you cut it... plus, it prevents it from unraveling. It makes for a nice clean join.

    Hi Lingling, I used a "channel" or "cording" foot in this tutorial. I now prefer the zipper foot (as seen in the "one-step piping" video), but either are good. The channel foot can be purchased from a sewing machine store; they would probably have to order it for you. Let me know what you decide. Thanks so much for writing! Peg

    Hi Peg,
    I've followed your piped & zipped cushion tutorial in the past (to great effect i may add). is there any reason why you didn't use the one step piping method for the box cushion?
    love the tutorials - keep up the great work!

    • @PegBakerSlipcovers
      @PegBakerSlipcovers  9 років тому

      Mark Wadsworth Hi Mark, Thanks so much for writing! I used the traditional method for that tutorial to keep the process as simple as possible. Since posting the one-step method, I have learned that keeping the stitching line straight is a bit more challenging on a portable machine, versus the table model that I use. Whichever method provides the best results is the one that should be used. By the way, I'd love to hear more about your cushions! If you'd like to share details and photos, please write to me at my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Peg

    very nice work. can you sew a zipper on the side of the cushion with the piping on?

  • @PegBakerSlipcovers
    @PegBakerSlipcovers  11 років тому

    Hi Wendy, Yes, you definitely can put a zipper on the top/bottom sections of a cushion. Let me know the specific application you have in mind so I can provide more help. I just sent you a personal message with a link to a very good tutorial (Haberman Fabrics Channel), but I realize now that I may have misunderstood your question initially. Thanks again, Peg

    Hi, in a later video you show how to make the pipping and attach it in one step - I followed that for my pillow project. Can I use the same approach on a cushion cover, or is there a reason to make the piping separately in this case? Thank you.

    • @PegBakerSlipcovers
      @PegBakerSlipcovers  6 років тому

      Hello, Marina, Yes, you can use the one step method with cushion covers. There are situations where the standard (pre-sewn) method is preferred. For example, I am constructing two slipcovers: one has six cushions; one has four cushions. The one-step method requires of bit of hand strength and this project is just too big, so I'm sewing up my piping in advance. I hope this answer is helpful. Let me know if you have other questions. You can write to me at littlebug903@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Peg. www.littlebugslipcovers.com

    Hi there, when you say your seams are 1 half inch, is that 1 and a half inches 3.5 cm or just half an inch or 1.5 cm? It looks like it would be 1 and a half inches. Sorry i in Australia and not sure as we use cms. Your videos are very informative but i not sure on the seam allowance. Thanks

    • @PegBakerSlipcovers
      @PegBakerSlipcovers  6 років тому

      Hello, Caroljune, Thank you for writing. The seam allowance used in this tutorial is 1/2 inch, or about 1.27centimeters. This is a common seam allowance used in the home decor sewing industry. However, one can choose whichever seam allowance is preferable. (No apologies for using cms; it makes more sense!) Let me know if this response is helpful. Sincerely, Peg www.littlebugslipcovers.com
