    The best instructional video on box cushion covers that I have seen. You have answered all of my questions.

      Thank you, Christine! It's been a long time since I made that tutorial and, with the exception of a few "tweaks" I still make boxed cushions that way. I happy to hear that your questions have been answered, but just in case, please know I am here for you. Sincerely, Peg

    These videos on making a boxed cushion are great! You've edited out the unnecessary parts and kept in the real "meat" of each step, clearly showing and describing the details as you go. Clear and concise -- perfect. Thanks and I Iook forward to watching your other videos, Peg.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I watched your videos over and over again until I learned the techniques for sewing a box cushion. I made covers for two matching mid-century modern chairs and people are amazed when they visit that I did them myself. If I took a class to learn what you taught me, I would pay big bucks. I wish I could send you a picture of the chairs, but just know that I am forever grateful to you!

    Dear Peg, I just completed my first cushion for a bay window seat! The shape was odd which added a little stress plus I've never sewn a zipper in my life. A custom seat cushion was very expensive so I tackled the project myself and wanted it to look professional! Your video tutorial helped me through this project. It's not perfect, but no glaring errors. I believe others will be very impressed (I wish I could add a photo to show you). I could not have done it without your videos. Thanks, Alison

    Wonderful Peg! I have never done more than play with my mom's old Singer when I was a kid. With courage born of insanity, I'm going to try and do some cushion covers for my Hawaiian rattan sofa. I ordered the cutting mat, rolling cutter, pressor feet and, yes even a new sewing machine. It is so helpful for your videos to be made into segments, so you can "bite off" a section at a time. Today I cut fabric. Wish me luck!

    PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!!!!
    I want to redo a porch set that was passed down to me with hideous covers. I went to a fancy fabric store to ask them how much it would cost to have these made and the price nearly knocked me off my feet (WELL over the cost of the set if I bought it new). I am a fairly decent seamstress, just not a very experienced one. THIS I KNOW I can do. WONDERFUL!!!! I'll end up making a NUMBER of sets to take me through the seasons and different styles of decorating. Oh, thank you! I can't TELL you how happy this has made me!!

    Dear Peg, Thank you so much for very clear instructions, easily followed and not rushed. I really appreciated the different segments of the construction which meant I could find easily the part I wanted to recheck my work. I must get into your web page and see what else I can make. My one tiny point is that at the end before adding the top cover you omitted to mention to open the zip before sewing in place!! Maybe you did but I didn't see it. My cushion is very chic. I had a bit more trouble as my cushion was for a chair with a rounded back, so I pretty much had to guess what to do, it"s not very professional but OK for me. Thanks again from a very wet morning in South West France. Pat

    Peg, I am attempting to construct a custom motorcycle seat cover out of leather. These videos are going to help get that project done and I feel confident that it will come out looking sharp. The seat is odd shaped, not square or rectangle, but the techniques you show in the videos here should apply, since the bottom of the boxing is stretched over the bottom of the metal seat pan, I will only need to do the pipping strip, cushion top, and boxing. Will post pics/vid to my blog to share. Thanks.

    Thanks so much for this step by step video, that clearly shows everything I need to do and how to do it. I need to redo some porch cushions, because I can not find the correct size to just be able to buy them. I will be trying to make my pattern from the cushion that is on there now. Maybe you have a video of that,(I hope). I just found and subscribed to your videos. Thanks so much for doing this , so as to help others learn this trade. They don't teach things like this in school here where I live anymore, you have to pay for a class.

      Dear Cynthia, Thank you so much for your kind email. I'm glad my little videos have inspired you to try your hand at your own boxed cushions. I don't have a video on how to make a pattern because there are several ways to proceed based on the type of cushion insert you have. In the video series, I determined the measurements based on the size of the foam. However, plush cushions need a little more consideration. Could you write to me at the email below and provide more details? I'd be very happy to guide you! Sincerely, Peg littlebug903@yahoo.com. www.littlebugslipcovers.com

      @@PegBakerSlipcovers Thank you so much for responding to me. So many people on here do not respond back. I am currently working on another simple sewing project. But as soon as I am done I will be trying to attempt the cushion. I am concerned because, I am not all that good of a sewer, but am wanting to learn, so I can save money and learn. I have had 2 experiences with someone else doing reupholstery for me and did not do a very good job. I say this because my x-father in-law had his own business in upholstery, and was great at it, but unfortunately I did not take the time to learn anything much. Thanks again !

      @@styleplague In my "Little Striped Cushion" Tutorial, I show how to notch the top and bottom plates to indicate the front and back of the cushion. (Cut the top and bottom plates carefully, making the stripes and placed identically.) Once you do this, you can lay the front boxing against the plate (good sides together) and match up the stripes. Then, notch the boxing to match the plate. James, I believe accurate notching is the key to a beautifully sewn cushion or pillow. You still need to be attentive as you sew; if the stripes stray too far off, take the sewing apart and try again. Let me know if this helps. You can write to my email address with more detailed questions. I'm here for you, Peg littlebug902@yahoo.com

    how much to you usually allow for the zipper to wrap around the 2 back corners?

    • @PegBakerSlipcovers
      @PegBakerSlipcovers  8 років тому

      +Linda Bridges Hi, Linda, Thank you for writing. Since I use zippers "by the yard" I have the freedom to extend the zipper around the sides to best benefit dressing the cushion insert (easy removal, too). For square cushions, at least 4 inches on both sides is good. For "L" or "T" cushions, I like 6 to 8 inches. Does this answer help? For a more detailed discussion, feel free to write to my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. Thanks again, Peg

      +Maggie Swain Hi, Maggie, You mention that you don't have a "zipper zag" foot. I'm not sure but I think you want to do a zig zag stitch as well as to be able to sew in zippers. If zig zag is what you want, the Featherweight will do that stitch. However, the attachment demonstrated in this video ua-cam.com/video/fjmejTVoJ7U/v-deo.html will allow you to do a zig zag on your Featherweight. If you wish only to be able to insert zippers, you could use a universal low shank zipper foot. You can purchase it on Amazon www.amazon.com/Universal-Zipper-Foot-Low-Shank/dp/B008MKJQMI or you can purchase it at a JoAnne Fabric store. Please write to my email address to let me know if this is helpful: littlebug903@yahoo.com. Put the words "Singer Featherweight" in the subject line. Thanks for writing, Peg
