Sometimes the upholsterers have to deal with square corners while performing a cushion or other project. Some 'relief cuts' should be used 'to help' ease the procedure. We could find in the video two different square corners to deal with. One is outwards and the other is inwards.
It is advisable to prepare beforehand the piping/welting to have it ready with its required seam allowance.
One of the secrets to get nice corners is to always attach the piping strip to lateral surrounding piece (there are few exceptions, though). The main panel should always remain flat and lateral panel should be handled over.
Longer stitches to sew 'piping strip' to 'lateral panel'. Shorter stitches are advisable to do last sewing to main panel.
The 'final sewing' should be done close to the other to get a very 'tight piping' to avoid clashing thread views.
I have used metric system of 1 cm for seam allowance. I could also have used our traditional 1/2" of an inch selvage.
I hope you find it useful!
Cesar

Nice. I've got twenty something cushions on my Malibu and with each one I get a little closer to where you're at. After five more boats I might be there.
Wow! A perfectionist...love this. Thank you for sharing
Its always a pleasure watching a master do what he does best, thanks for sharing that expertise with those of us us still learning the trade.

Dear Sir.
- Firstly, thank you for the detailed answer about sewing machines.
- From the detailed article, I learned that there are indeed sewing machines for industrial, domestic, etc.
- The information provided will serve as a guide for me to buy a sewing machine.
- Thank you.
I love your videos! The purely visual explanation is so elegant! Thanks for taking the time and effort to make such wonderful resources and sharing.
Thanks for sharing this technique!
Beautiful . Thank you
Everything ingenious is simple !
Great attention to detail...when the contours bunch up excess material ...best to cut it out.
The shop I used to work at had some premade welt (piping) for some of the popular colors that made stitching around corners easy cuz the slots were cut along the entire length..we would only have to trim off the length from the seam allowance on the corners.
Thanks for sharing your skills. I had tried talking my old boss into doing things like you are doing....but that hasn't caught on.
The auto upholstery world is a great skill set! Something that can't be sprayed on or pointed and clicked or even cnc'd.....
Happy Friday to ya' and God bless ya'!

Cesar, mis respetos, esa atencion al detalle me sorprende positivamente, asi soy yo creo.
Great video and very useful. Are you using a piping foot to attach the piping to the main fabric?
Thanks 😊
Yes, the piping foot was used to attach the welting strip to lateral panel. The last process is to sew down this narrow lateral panel to the big main panel. To do this final attachment the piping foot was also used., and the sewing was done on the reverse side of vinyl material.
@@Cechaflo Thanks, got it now!

it's not always possible but when I can I put the straight piece on the bottom and the one with curves on top. it makes it easier to turn around corners. you are a great teacher though.
Thank you for the good tutorial. For the vinyl piping strips, if using for curves, do you cut your strips on the bias at 45 or 60 degrees? Or do you not cut on the bias? Thank you
In the case of stretchy vinyl it can be cut at any position, not necessarily on the bias.
Preferably, the strips should be cut breadthwise following the stretchy side of vinyl.
Thank you very much for replying and for clarifying :)
You have a new student 😊👌🏼

I think I'm going to buy you a servo motor, have you ever tried one? Makes sewing a little quieter.

Thank you! 👌

get ride of the zipper foot, use a half foot shaved down to get closer, makes your work a lot easier, tom
Hello Tom, Precisely, at this moment I have uploaded a related video: ua-cam.com/video/JuCQQmZ_yi4/v-deo.html
I had already used these methods in the past. I also started to do complete upholstery projects by using the 'standard roller presser foot' some machines have.
This channel is just educational and I have to show my interested users different options upholsterers use.
Thanks for commenting, what you said is right, I agree!
