I realise that this video was made 7 years ago but it is still just perfect. I have been sewing for more than 70 years but have learned a lot of new tips. Thank you Ms Baker for helping an old dog from England learn a few new tricks.
Hello, Bridget, Thanks so much for writing! You don't sound like an old dog at all; but rather a lovely older lady from across the pond! I'm in my seventies myself and I believe our love of the sewing craft keeps us young. There's so many ways to insert zippers: I simply demonstrate the methods that work best for me. I imagine you could certainly show me a tip or two! Best wishes for the holiday season. Sincerely, Peg
I saw a cushion I made around 2015 and thought, how did I manage to make that??? Then it was brought to memory that this was the exact video I watched!!! And years later here I am again! Thank you, Miss. Peg!!!! Fantastic tutorial!
Your sweet comment warmed my heart! Thank you for sharing your memory with me. I retired almost 6 years ago on my 70th birthday. Now, I'm enjoying simple sewing pleasures. However, I'm always here for my followers to answer questions and provide support. Thanks again, Peg
Thank you, Janice, for your kind comment. I've been retired for a long time and I still enjoy hearing from sister-sewists out there. I wish you the most success in your creative journey. Peg
Hello, Marina, Thank you so much for writing. I am glad my little video has inspired you to try your own piping project. Please stay in touch and share your experiences. You can write to my email address with details and photos: littlebug903@yahoo.com. I'd love to hear from you! Sincerely, Peg. www.littlebugslipcovers.com
Very thorough tutorial! Lovely every step of the way-from start to finish! I was thinking with my out of practice moderate level of sewing skills I might tackle a piped and zippered pillow myself and decided to search for some tutorials to see what I was up against. This tutorial actually made me think I could possibly do this! Peg's voice and her demeanor are both so encouraging! Thanks for taking the time to share your expertise with us!
Dear Joanne, thank you so much for your kind words. I am very happy to hear that my little tutorial has inspired you to try your own pillow project! As you go through the process I'd love to hear about it! I'm here to answer any questions you may have along the way. You can share details and photos at my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from you! Happy Sewing, Peg. www.littlebugslipcovers.com
Thank you for this excellent video. Your voice is so calming and your technique so professional. Just the right combination for trying something new. My zippered, piped pillow came out beautiful!
Hello, Mac, Thank you so much for writing. I am glad my little video has inspired you! Please stay in touch and share your sewing experiences. You can write to my email address with details and photos: littlebug903@yahoo.com. I'd love to hear from you! Sincerely, Peg. www.littlebugslipcovers.com
I wanted to cover 1metre long cushions for outdoor chairs and Peg's tutorial gave me the confidence to complete the project. I also watched Peg's tutorials on making bias: cutting and sewing, which were value packed with information. I added in 4 slots for the tabs to attach to the chair frame and job done. I am so proud of the end result and it was Peg's calm and commanding instructions that gave me the confidence to do the project. Thank you Peg!
Dear Catherine, Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm always happy to hear that my little tutorials have played a role in someone's sewing success. If you'd like to share photos and details of your project, please write to me at littlebug903@yahoo.com. I'd love to see your beautiful cushions. I retired from professional sewing four years ago but please know that I'm still here to answer questions and to cheer you on. Sincerely, Peg
I always watch your tutorials - they are clear , good solid technique , and no drama - keeps me calm and reassured . Me and my sewing machine sometimes have a stand-off in attitude! the sewing machine usually wins , but your tutorials give me hope. Thankyou.
Thank you for your kind compliments! I can relate to the love/hate relationship with our sewing machines, but I think we can admit there's more love than not. I haven't uploaded tutorials for quite a few years. I retired almost six years ago at age 70 and am enjoying simple sewing pleasures. However, please let me know if you ever have any questions; I'm here for you. Peg
Just as Marina said, this is by far the best tutorial I found. The wifey bought fabric the other day and asked me to make some replacement covers for our existing throw pillows. Now I can make them with confidence knowing they will come out perfect. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Liked and subscribed. We’ll deserved.
Hello, Stitch Boucher. Thank you so much for your thoughtful and kind comment. I'm happy to hear that my little tutorial may have inspired you! I retired from professional sewing three years ago; at the same time, I still love the craft and enjoy sharing with others. Please let me know if you have any other questions. You can write to littlebug903@yahoo.com. I wish you continued success! Peg
I watch this one over and over again, until I get all the details right. Now I have an elegant pillow in my living room, that I made from a piece of fabric I held on to for decades, because I just loved it. Now I can see it everyday. Wish I could send you a photo!
Hello, Marlon, Thank you so much for writing. I'd love to see a photo of your pillow. You can write to me at littlebug903@yahoo.com. Congratulations on your determination and success! Sincerely, Peg
I watched several tutorials on sewing zippered pillows with piping. This was by far the best and I loved the extra up close camera work. The other tutorials were so far away it was up to your imagination to figure out what to do. Thank you!
Dear Patricia, I'm so happy to hear my little tutorials have been helpful! It's been about 10 years since I made that series and they could use some updating. My husband and I are taking a year's off to travel. When we get settled again, I hope to update many of my videos. In the meantime, I wish you the best of sewing adventures! Sincerely, Peg
This remains the best cushion tutorial there is. I may have watched it 20 times. I watch it everytime I do another cushion just to refresh my mind! Even after 30 plus cushions i still watch it. Superb instructions
Dear Nicola, Thank you so much for your kind comment. I am honored to be in your workroom with you! Something I've discovered over the years is that the more I do something, the more likely a better technic will emerge, making the process even more streamed-lined and efficient. I imagine you've discovered this yourself. I wish you every success in your endeavors! If you ever have a question I can help with, feel free to write to my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Peg
It's Patsy again! It's been a while since I sewed up some pillows. I have a client whose dog is always chewing up pillow corners & she's been bringing those to me. For those, I'll just stitch across the bottom or side, depending on where the damage is - and there's no piping involved. She now wants 6 pillow shams made for existing pillows, plus 2 more that she hasn't decided what she wants them to look like. I struggled with the first one, trying to remember how the zipper/cording combo would be assembled. Then I remembered that I saved your video! I ripped the first pillow apart & used your method for all 6. I'm 4 pillows in & wanted to stop & say THANK YOU again! I appreciate you sharing your talents with us!
Dear Patsy, Thank you so much for writing! It's good to hear from a sister-sewist that success has been achieved and that I got to play a small part in that. I hope you'll continue to stay in touch. I'm retired now but I still connect with viewers as much as possible. If you'd like to send photos and details of your pillow project, please send them to littlebug903@yahoo.com. I'd love to hear from you again! Sincerely, Peg
This video is just perfect. I am so grateful for your detailed explanations and closeups. Thank you so much! I now have the confidence to try making a pillow cover with piping and a zipper.
Hello, Susan, thanks so much for your kind comment. I'm so glad that my little tutorial has inspired you to try a pillow project. Please let me know if you have any questions along the way. I'm here for you! Peg
Fantastic tutorial thanks Peg. I have worn a path from my sewing machine to my computer but it has been so worth it. My first ever pillow, with piping no less! I was able to watch the video in full and then come back to it as I needed as I sewed. Beautifully filmed and explained with numerous handy tips along the way. Thanks again.
+Daniel Sydes Hello, Daniel, Thank you so much for writing. Your pillow project sounds wonderful; I'm so glad my little tutorial played a part in your success! I'd love to hear more about your process. If you like, you can write and send photos to my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. Thank you again, Peg
I used to make piped cushions with Velcro fastenings ,but as I haven’t made any for a long time decided to use a zip fastener and it took me ages to change a habit of a lifetime.i have watched your video over and over again so am ready to start again with a zip thanks to you .
Hi, Lilac2haze, thanks so much for writing. I'm so happy to hear you are inspired to try something different. I think you'll discover it's simpler (maybe not easier) than you thought. Practicing on scraps will help you see the process a little faster. Also, if you run into roadblocks, please write to me; I'm here for you. Sincerely, Peg
Hi, J Ross, thanks so much for writing! I'm always happy to find that my little videos have helped someone. Those pesky pillow corners seem to be a fact of life for me: I'm glad I'm not alone! Best wishes for every sewing success. Sincerely, Peg
Just completed my first ever zipped, piped cushion cover. Your videos were fantastic, with step by step instructions which I followed precisely and it all worked perfectly. Now to complete the other three covers!
I'm so happy to have your channel and this video. I bought a beautiful designer fabric and have had it for months. I've been sewing for years, but have never done piping and a zipper in one pillow. Thanks to you and your information I feel confident to try this. Wish me luck, and thanks again!
Thanks so much for writing, DW. I'm happy to hear that my little tutorials have inspired you to try some new techniques. Be sure to practice on some similar but less expensive fabric before you cut in to your beautiful home decor yardage! If you have any questions along the way, please feel free to write at my email address: littlebug903@yahoo.com. I'm here for you! Peg

Thank you for a wonderful tutorial! Your instructions are so clear, and your calm speaking is very soothing and encouraging. I felt quite better about myself as a sewer when you reminded us that small mistakes don't necessarily reflect on the seamstress, but often have a lot to do with the materials (no excuse for not taking the time to fix those corners into corners that we can be proud of, of course, but the encouragement was very much appreciated!). Thank you again for taking the time to put up this lesson! :-)
Dear Mary, Thank you for writing; your kind words just made my day! I hope my little tutorial has inspired you to try your own pillow creations. If so, please keep me informed. I used this and made 4 lovely cushions. They were flawless, as you said. The zip was completely hidden in the piping. Much better than any I’ve seen in the shops. They no longer match my current furniture, but I can’t bear to throw them away.
Dear Gillian, Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I'm always happy to hear that my little tutorials have played in role in someone's sewing success. I'd love to see your lovely cushions. Love your tutorial. Best one I found to help me try something I have always wanted to do. At the age of 71 I am trying to learn new skills and you certainly explain it so well. i am part way there now and after watching this for the third time I am ready to put in the zip and sew the two pieces together. A bit apprehensive but excited to see how it turns out. Thanks so much for your invaluable help.

This is an amazing video! Thank you so much. I had to tackle this project today and didn't know how to finish the piping ends or do the zipper. My project turned out beautifully! I'm so pleased. Thanks again!
Hello, Kristie. Thank you so much for writing. I'm very happy to hear that this little tutorial has helped you. If you'd like to share photos of your sofa pillows or if you have any questions, please write to me at littlebug903@yahoo.com. Sincerely, Peg
Thanks to you I just made my first pillow. I had never owned a sewing machine and didn't know anything at all. Not even the difference between piping and cording. I used cording and even though the matching end and didn't turn out great I think I'll be the only one who notices ;) the biggest problem I had was one of the corners was not cut or sewn correctly so it's a little wonky . I'm just going to flip it on its side in again hope nobody sees it. I could not have done it without this video. Thank you

THIS is the way to do it! I was looking for the method to reproduce the professionally made cushions I already had. But there are ssoooo many short-cut methods out there that show a less-than-professional approach and result. (I wanted a hidden zipper) Thanks Peg Baker.

Peg, I watch a lot of how to sewing and quilting videos, but by far, this is the very best instructional video I have seen. I am now confident that my piped pillows with zippers will look fabulous. Thank you so very much!!!

Thank you, peg, for a fabulous tutorial. I've sewn many cushions before but this is my first with home made bias cut piping. Very easy to follow and to listen to, a great step by step guide. I was heartened to see one of your corners didn't turn out perfect, made me feel a lot better when one of mine went awry. Will be watching again as I make my next one.

Hi Peg I have only just seen your video Feb 2024. It is a lightbulb moment for inserting cushion zips for me. I have always been taught to do the piped side first......really difficult. Doing it your way is so much easier. Shame is taken so long for me to find your tutorial. Many thanks Ann Stuart, Coventry UK

Thank you for the well done videos. May I add a suggestion for doing corners? I am primarily a fashion seamstress, one of the techniques I learned long ago for collar and cuff corners was to shorten the stitches starting about a 1/2" before the corner and a 1/2" after the corner, then return it to the normal length. Also, if you ever so slightly curve around the corner instead of at right angles, you come up with a stronger and smoother corner. Then correct if need be and trim the excess. It will not look rounded unless it has been exaggerated in the stitching process. I have used this on pillows as well as clothing. Thanks for sharing your knowledge so generously!

Thank you, Peg! I love the gentleness of your voice and your positive encouragement!
Thank you, Janice, for your kind comment. I've been retired for a long time and I still enjoy hearing from sister-sewists out there. I wish you the most success in your creative journey. Peg
I really wanted to have both, piping and a zipper, and this was the best tutorial I've found on how to get the neatest look. Thank you!
Hey Peg, had to stop by and refresh my memory. Still the best video out there. 10 years strong!!!
Thanks for writing, Papa! How did your pillows come out? Peg
Thank you for this excellent video. Your voice is so calming and your technique so professional. Just the right combination for trying something new. My zippered, piped pillow came out beautiful!
You're a great teacher. This is like a course requirement, and I'll use it as a standard, and use at least three tips I learned here all the time.
Best tutorial i’ve seen! First tutorial I see that shows what happens when the corners aren’t ‘tight’ and actually how to fix it! Thank you!
Hello and thanks to you! I'm happy to hear that my little videos have been helpful! Best wishes for the holidays, stay happy, healthy and safe.

I like your tutorial, it's real and shows the little imperfections and how to correct them! Thank you. From So. Cal.
Hi, Thank you so much for your kind comment. Best wishes to you and yours from So. Cal! Peg
Thank you

Thankyou Peg for a very informative video....I can't wait to get my bits and pieces together to make my own pillows on the weekend.
THIS is the way to do it! I was looking for the method to reproduce the professionally made cushions I already had. But there are ssoooo many short-cut methods out there that show a less-than-professional approach and result. (I wanted a hidden zipper) Thanks Peg Baker.

Very impressed by your talent and clear explanations... I have tried several of these zippered pillows and this one beats them all!
Peg, I watch a lot of how to sewing and quilting videos, but by far, this is the very best instructional video I have seen. I am now confident that my piped pillows with zippers will look fabulous. Thank you so very much!!!

Thank you so much for such an easy to follow tutorial.

Hi, Barbara, thank you for your kind comment. I love the cello, too, having played (as an amateur) for many years. I no longer play but love attending concerts and listening to this beautiful instrument. Just Saturday, I heard the Neave Trio play at the VCU concert hall here in Richmond, VA. Heavenly. I wish you the best, Peg

Hi, Ann, How sweet of you to write! I'm so glad to hear that my little tutorial was helpful. Since that video, I tweaked the process a little more but I never got around to recording it. Perhaps that is in my future! Please stay in touch. I'd love to hear more about your sewing adventures! Sincerely, Peg

Thanks for this video! It really helped me in my project.
It’s been years that I’ve sewn cording and zippers. Thank you for refreshing my memory - you made it seem so easy and very good how -to .
Thanks for this tip! I'll definitely try this out on my next set of corners. Best wishes! Peg littlebugslipcovers.com

Just what I needed. This will save so much time and energy. Where did you get the clamp? Are they available at sewing stores?
Hi, Sandie, Thank you for writing! What clamp are you referring to? Thanks for clarifying: I'll answer back as soon as I hear from you. Sincerely, Peg littlebugslipcovers.com
You used a clamp to pull the corners out neatly. I think I found one on Amazon. It's a hemastat in medical terms, I think.
Yes, Sandie, you are correct! Thanks so much!
You are a wonderful teacher for sure.
Thank you, dear Beth!
Wonderful tutorial.. thank you for sharing.. and i love your beautiful cushion corners.. and also that now i know how to fix my 'not so perfect' corners.. Thanks again for sharing!
