I do sprints to complement my weight training and as someone in his later 30s I can confirm that warmup is extremely important and this has been the best sprint warmup I've ever done, it's great, thank you.
I've learned the older you are the more important warming up becomes. In my younger days I could get away with not warming up. But if I tried that now I would snap something up.
Latish 30's (36) guy here. Just did my first HIIT sprinting exercise, like you, to complement weight training which I started recently. Honestly did not do proper warmup, expect maybe I kind of did, around 3km/2 miles of brisk cycling to the spot where I did my sprints and then before sprinting, a little jogging. Nothing bad happened. I wonder could this be adequate, also considering that I have done quite a lot of cycling lately too.
Injuries stink. I've been there and many times it was due to a lack of a proper warm-up. Implement the sprinter-warm up and your rate of injury will drop drastically!
I literally just reinjured my psoas trying to sprint. And it’s most likely because I didn’t warm up enough. Wish I watched this before trying to sprint
The pulled hamstring is a painful injury that will have you temporarily out of the sprint game. Give your warm-up some more attention and you will significantly decrease the chances of that happening. Thanks for watching!
this is just if you have watched the beginning of the video and need a reference for the warm ups. I've watched the beginning and it's very insightful to why you should warm up in order to not injure oneself. 2:35
4 years later and this is still applicable. The human body is not a mystery anymore but the brain... Lord, save us from our stupidity and let's get to work.
Yes the body is the body. When we overthink the game, we get into trouble and end up going nowhere fast. Thanks for watching, I appreciate your insight!
Just tryd this out . Felt much looser wen I trained performance was better more comfortable . Didn’t feel as tho I was gonna pull anythang . Much appreciated
This dudes right on the Money. When I was younger I thought warming up was just silly . You didn’t need to warmup when u were younger . Being 30 if you don’t warm up your screwed . You’ll cramp up pull muscles be sore ect .
i do parkour and have noticed that after a thorough warmup, my standing long jump is increased by about a foot, haha. without a warmup, you just cannot achieve anything close to max performance. great video!
Unoriginal OG Incorporate some dynamic stretches with this warmup before you run. Before you go to sleep, do long static stretches. This should help you out the most because your muscles will heal through sleep.
How much rest time in between your warm up and your actual sprint race?.................(I guess there is a fine line between wanting to be warmed up but not too tired so that you don't have energy left for the actual race.)
There is a fine line. The best way to determine what works for you would be to test different rest times in training. After your warm-up is complete, start your sprint training 5, 10, or even 15 minutes after you are done. Record your times and how your body feels and this will tell what works best for you. Your first sprint should feel loose, powerful, and uninhibited. If you are tight, you have rested too long. If you are in condition you will always have enough energy to finish the race, but the timing of your warm up does matter when it comes to how well you run that race. Thanks for the question!
+Ayaz Haniffa You can definitely sprint on any grass/turf field including a soccer field. As long as the field does not have any hidden ditches or holes in it you will be golden. Thanks for watching!
I know this video is old, but I was wondering how to do the bounds. I just used this warmup today, prior to sprinting, and I have never felt better during a sprint workout. However, I was very confused on how to perform the bound.
I've never pulled the quad during training but that sounds extremely painful. In sprinting, the hamstring is the most commonly pulled muscle due to the intense nature of the exercise. This is why a proper warm-up is required before anyone attempts to truly sprint.
Thank you for watching I appreciate it! I have done warm-ups all in flats and all in spikes. For most workouts, you can warm-up in the flats. When you get to the actual warm-up sprints you can then switch to the spikes. For this warm-up in the video, I used spikes. When I compete I often utilize this strategy as I want to get that comfortable feeling in the spikes for the meet.
Hey nice demo .. but I get confused at the part where you do bounds for distance... do you have huge run ups to perform that jump.. because when I tried to do that it looks so awkward and doesn't look the same as what you have done....
Please help me bro , I started doing Sprint and it was good on 1st day but the another day it was really hurting badly like never before like my bones are crushed
don't forget about the ANS: AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM. it controls the things that we don't have to think about, like breathing, heart beat, etc.Great question.
It may not look that way but it is true. Training, nutrition, recovery/sleep, daily stress levels, and your overall lifestyle will all have an impact on how youthful you will or will not look. Gotta thank Mom and Dad too!
I've been down that road when I was younger and it is never a good thing to get injured. Always get warm up before you attempt to sprint because the sprinter warm-up significantly reduces the chances that you get injured!
Absorbed by politics atm. Women run public school and all into fat acceptance movement. They aren't interested in running and jogging, they make up excuses but the obvious reason is they simply can't. SO.......instead of telling them to get the kids to do 10 laps round the oval which they equal with the worst torture, which it would be for them..teach the kids this instead. Then, the kids will have this routine for ever. Me im late 30s and last timei tried a simple running program I got every injury, if I'd know this drill at school would be able to have used it so not stiff and weak all the wrong places guaranteeing I get an injury. School should be about teaching. PS diet, while on topic, every kid should know 4 simple meal recipes that are cheap healthy easy and fill most nutritional needs. Home ec is sextet now, meaning kids learn fat excepting cause arent taught practical nutritional exercise.

You are 100 percent correct about the importance of the warm-up. Thank you for your kind words. I am glad that this warm-up has helped you out!
I've learned the older you are the more important warming up becomes. In my younger days I could get away with not warming up. But if I tried that now I would snap something up.
i was 16 n even then i knew warming up helped before going all out lol

As a 50+ runner just moving into sprints, I need this warm up! thank you. (lessons were learnt with a torn hamstring lol)
I know you’re doing a warm up but with the music playing in the background I just kept thinking “he’s a good dancer” haha
That's funny because my dance moves are questionable at best!
just what i needed after my leg injury for not doing proper warmup

Man this warm up really works! Thanks!
Thanks I have a sprint tomorrow
I pulled my hammy last week for not warming up properly 🤦🏻♂️.... I will definitely start warming up better....thank you sir 😎

My favorite warm-up video. Thanks!

Nice!! Time to train the BOY!!! Thanks....I also believe that sprinting helps every athletic endeaver!

You are spot on! It's not worth skimping through the warm-up when the risks far outweigh the rewards.

Great content

Nice warm up but we also need stretches, i have bad calfs.
Love the tutorial but i don't know when to stretch

What does CNS stand for? (ACTIVATION MODERATE SPRINT)

I like the beat damn so good
informative channel, keep up yooooooo
Thank you for this video. Is it fine to run on a grassy surface such as a soccer field? I cannot find a track nearby.
+Ayaz Haniffa You can definitely sprint on any grass/turf field including a soccer field. As long as the field does not have any hidden ditches or holes in it you will be golden. Thanks for watching!
Bounds for distance looks confusing to me.... Can someone explain how to to perform that?
I know this video is old, but I was wondering how to do the bounds. I just used this warmup today, prior to sprinting, and I have never felt better during a sprint workout. However, I was very confused on how to perform the bound.
Ohoo fit man ❤
Never would have thought about pulling my hamstring muscles, but i have pulled my quadricep that wasn't fun at all....😧😩😩😩😩😧😧😩😧😩😩😧😩😩😧😩😩😩😩😩😩

Eat better.

🤘
I did this warm up then I never even made it to the main work out. I basically just "warmed up" and went home
After doing all of that, my energy would be drained.

CFT season is right around the corner and I need to get my 880 time down, hopefully this video will help man
This warm-up will get you primed to sprint and reduce your risk of injury. If you train hard and stay consistent you can drop that 800m time!
Freddie Gibbs - Drugs is the track you came looking for in the comments
didnt warmup and just hurt my lower back while trying to hiit sprinting... at least ill learn from my stupid mistakes
