      Not really because he's literally acting like fractions of an inch in the size of his bullet will make a difference in whether or not he hits his target. It's not Omar's fault, most of that scene is perfect, but some stupid writer who has never even seen a real gun tried to write a line to make him sound badass and instead made him sound like a fool to anyone who knows anything about guns. And when I say the rest is perfect I mean perfect: he warns Mouzone that he has one in the chamber, he jokes about Mouzone's short pistol tending to kick (which they do), everything suggests he knows his shit when it comes to guns. Then they fuck it up with that line.

      GM 180 because Omar has a .45 caliber round which is a very large round. Standing 20 ft away from someone with that size round. Even if he didn’t hit Mouzones center of mass which is what he’s aiming for he’ll hit an arm or a shoulder. So he’s saying even if he misses he can’t miss bc the .45 will do so much damage anywhere it hits. Ie breaking a bone leaving a whole arm useless

    Michael K. Williams started as a dancer and uses body language at the same genius level he speaks dialog. He's like a lion coiled to spring throughout the confrontation but the subtlety that makes it all so real is how his entire face and body change once Brother Mouzon pockets his piece. He was the rare type of actor where you can always mute the sound but still know exactly what's happening. Such a loss of a fearless gift. Michael K. Williams, RIP, tragically gone at 54. Ugh I just love how real recognizes real here. Brother sees Omar slowly reaching and it doesn't alarm him, seeing they're both marksmen. They both know it's more to be explained and aren't too scared or hungry for an easy, quick kill. Love it. Side note: it just shows how calculated they are. Neither one could be found or accessed to easily. They were both lured in by their right hand men being bait.

      A bunch of different writers worked on this show, but, to my knowledge, they were all basically novel writers, and actually wrote the screenplay for the show as if it were a novel, because the show was conceived from the beginning as being a "live action novel". This makes The Wire really stand out from other TV shows, especially because it was the first show to ever do this. However, writing of this quality isn't that unusual in the world of novels and other text-based media.

      Salvador Allende....if Omar had a weakness, it was he underestimated kids. There's a scene where he's in a vacant house, spying on Marlo and Michael shows up to talk to Marlo and his partner Renaldo asks who Mike is and Marlo says "He's just a kid". Throughout the Wire, he always seemed to dismiss kids, not see them as a threat. I think it's because he felt like he was so loved and revered by the kids in the neighborhood, he thought they were either groupies or again, not a threat. As we all know, he made a fatal mistake underestimating the kids in the hood.

    I've been so impressed by this dialogue and acting for so long that i completely didn't notice one crucial variable to this encounter: Mouzone has the upper hand. Omar's boy is being held by Mouzone's bodyguard. Even if Omar wanted to kill Mouzone, he couldn't without killing his boy as well, so his only option is to pull out his gun and at the very least take mouzone out with him if his intention is to kill omar. Omar's only real intent is to, as always, go out like a soldier, fighting.
    Mouzone always the smarter, calmer tactician.

    If a television show can elicit so many feelings just by being a voyeur, The Wire is it - This is one of many scenes in 5 series that is just exceptional. David Simon needs recognition, the greatest piece of television writing ever.

    Amazing start to what I believe to be the single best hour of scripted television of all time. Every second of this episode is a payoff of one story line or another from the previous seasons...
    Even though Stringer didn’t technically die until the end of this episode, as soon as these two stopped pointing their pistols at each other he was DONE!!!
    Great scene!!!

      Love every single line. But that one line was inaccurate. Given the gun, he doesn't have one in the chamber. On a 1911, you'd have to have the hammer back to have it ready to go if he was using it safely

      @@muna5066 it's a double action pistol with a safety, he cocked the hammer back and readied it. Both guns in this scene are hammer fired. Double action

    • @muna5066
      @muna5066 3 роки тому +1

      @@WolfenX4 sorry but that's incorrect. 1911s are single action only (except for rare modified designs). There is a hammer and a safety. But when you rack the slide to load one into the chamber, you also cock the hammer. There is no de-cocker to lower the hammer so the hammer stays back and you then activate the safety to keep it from firing too easily from the very light, crisp, short single action pull of a 1911. So if there was one in the chamber, and it were ready for use the hammer would be back and the safety would be on or off.

    Gotta love that mutual respect though. Omar knows Bro Mouzone isn't an idiot, gives him the time of day and allows the standoff for face keeping and soul, both deep down knowing no shots are going to be fired. Later, both of these guys respect the other, by just knocking out the guards, rather than killing them. 'Just sleepin''. Then later team up to take out a certain player. Dream team.

Well about 8 episodes later when Avon is out of prison and has devonne set up a meet with Marlo at the fish Mart, Avon is waiting in an explorer with the play 107M703. Just a prop repeat i noticed. Oh and when poot is wearing the black and red run athletics shirt that boadie actually wears too.
