It's creepy how polite Chris is to almost everyone he's about to kill. "Aiight I gotchu bruh, quick and clean, right in the head. Ay can I get ya somethin' real quick boss, like a pillow? Maybe a snack?" Kind of similar to Todd in BB.
Creepy as all hell but I actually kinda admire it a little lol, he's the last person they'll ever interact with so he takes it upon himself to give them just a little bit of comfort before they 'go'
I think it’s more his own personal code, as he tells Michael that he always has to look into the eyes anyone he kills. I think he personally doesn’t have respect for anyone he kills, but he wants them to feel like they can die like a man, I wonder if he feels he’s above the game in the same way brother mozounne did.
@@TribuneAquila he has respect for some. he had respect for the old man who didn't betray Omar thats why he made it a point to tell the other guy "make sure you tell Omar everything". He respected that "tough old man"
I love The Wire for the simple fact that, they didnt treat the audience like idiots. They didn’t always spell things out for you to understand, a lot is left for interpretation. For example, they never outright told you Michael and Chris were molested as children, it is heavily implied. When you see Chris rage out on Michael’s Dad was the perfect way to telling you without telling you Chris’s past.
I didn’t get that Chris was necessarily molested. He was a father and maybe he had a general disgust for child molesters because he had children. Not that he was molested. Some say he’s had military training and combat experience and business is why he is in a mercenary type position in the game.
There should be a spin-off movie called “Meet Chris Black” where he hangs out with a rich old white man for the last few days of his life bettors he takes him out to a vacant and shoots him I’m the head
As ruthless as Chris was, he had a soft spot for Michael. THAT is what truly changed my thought process on him. Anytime Marlo thought Michael was the one snitching, Chris always stuck up for him. I can guarantee you if Chris wasn't locked up, he would have prevented Snoop from trying to kill him.
I think chris liked michael because he related with michael. The way chris killed his father makes me think that chris was sexually assaulted when he was younger, just like michael.
Norman Getsinger yeah but Marlo loved him too. Marlo had a code as well. Chris did not. When Marlo ordered Mike’s hit it wasn’t personal. The issue was Mike was already on the police’s radar. Michael was a link to bug’s dad’s murder. Marlo has a rule if they had evidence of you dealing with the police or you were linking them to a crime then you had to go.
I don’t think the kids were really sexually assaulted. Mike just wanted him gone for being a low life. The mother was a fiend but Mike didn’t want her dead only him so she’ll clean up
no, he would have done nothing. Marlo odered the hit and Chris would have done it. Chris would have never stepped up to Marlo. He was his underling through and through and did his bidding.
The fact that Marlo can calmly watch Joes face get blown apart, without blinking and with a slight smile, is horrifying. Not ashamed to say I hope I don’t run into anyone that cold blooded.
I've known a few. Thing about is you'd never know with a lot of them. Some of them are mild mannered and polite. Some are charismatic and seem friendly. You'd never know they were killers unless you got on their bad side. And that's the issue, they're unstable people. Doesn't take much for them to snap. Say the wrong thing, make the wrong joke and it could be the last thing you say. Even if you're a friend you're not safe.
"Don't fret boss I got you covered." "I got your back." Chris has the best customer service of any murderer. You gonna be dead, but you gonna be comfortable. xD
The whole interaction between Chris and Michael over Bug's dad was revealing. Chris knew exactly why Michael wanted it done because he obviously was victimized as well. The whole scene of beating him to death was made all the more intense by the reaction of Snoop. It was her moment of realization of where Chris' whole being was created. That was, for me, one of the finest and most intense scenes of that entire series.
MONIQUE 2631 WHAT'S MESSED UP ABOUT GHOST CHARACTER IS ALL THA MONEY HE MADE DURING THA SHOW HE NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO ENJOY ANY OF IT I KNOW THAT;S CHANGIN THA TOPIC BUT I JUS THOUGHT I'D MENTION IT
4:55 one of the most brutally realistic beatdowns i've ever seen. And what makes it more significant is that Chris is normally so cool calm and collected about his cold blooded ruthless murders, to a professional level. So much so, that even his partner in crime Snoop is even in shock at the extremes he goes to. Great show.
Xavier Vega actually I think most killers had a real sense of professionalism: Wee Bey, Sergei, Slim and Cutty (although he didn't kill anyone), and I can't think of any other designated killer. There were many gangsters who committed an occasional homicide or two, but that didn't make them killers in the way Chris and the others are.
Still couldnt get Omar tho. Chris had mad respect for Omar skill, thats why he didnt want to go at him in the first place and why he never told Marlo what Omar was saying - too dangerous for him.
and Chris kinda feared him a little too. When Omar escaped from the shootout in Monks apartment, Chris was paranoid to visit his family because he thought Omar might be watching him.
Chris understood that Omar's greatest advantage was that you never knew when or where he would attack you. It's impossible to keep your guard up 24/7. That's why Chris told Omar to let it slide and then attack Omar later. Chris wanted to turn Omar's advantage into his advantage. That was excellent advice. Chris was a solid number two for Marlo.
"Quick and clean boss, I promise", "I got you covered", "I got your back" etc... Chris has such amazing customer service skills. I guess they ended up hiring him in the prison cafeteria later in his life.
The scene where Chris annihilates Michael's stepdad is one of the most impressive scenes in television. It shows Chris as both ruthless and vulnerable at once, humanises and demonises him. Still gives me chills seeing it.
Do you understand the implication of that scene? Chris losing his cool, doing a sloppy job, this is the murder that gets him arrested for DNA evidence. When the man admitted to raping boys in jails Chris snapped. The implication is Chris was locked up as a young man and sexually assaulted in prison.
Honestly the reason why he's my favorite character. Lost a friend to a weirdo that did that to her. I wish I could of got to him before the police. Rip K kocham cie.
I honestly think Chris has military training. He more than likely was one of those dudes that gang members sent to the military who had a clean record, did his 4 year hitch in the military, came home and started putting in work. The way he carries himself. He's not brutal when it comes to killing, he doesn't kill for the sake of killing, but he follows orders, gives critical advise to his superior, and is efficient. The way he carries himself and has a code of ethics of things that he doesn't tolerate. He's not your average "gang banger", but has no aspirations to be a "king pin" either.
Military, maybe. But what can teach military skills is survival better than the streets. Gotta know what it takes to survive. Chris has years of experience.
@@donnaprince9109 surviving in the streets is different than being taught how to survive in the military. Surviving in the streets does not give you the ruthless efficiency that Chris has. Also the tactics and level headed ability to be an advisor. You can tell he's also educated by the way he talks.
It also is an important plot detail because that's how he eventually goes down. Leaving the body out, it was almost like a plot hole in my opinion because they had taken care of every other body. That one they just left out.
@Jordan Jacobs Are you responding to me? Cause I didn't say anything about whether he got raped or not. I think it's VERY clear that Chris took that kill SUPER personally, with how intensely and like you said "in his feelings" while doing it. That was pure, unadulterated hatred what he did to him. Even Snoop herself was shocked. So yeah I believe, too, and always have that Chris WAS a victim of sexual abuse. Either that or he's just already got it ingrained in him the prison culture thing where like for example if you are a sex offender who goes to prison who hurt children especially you might as well get ready to do all your time in solitary. Cause in prison the people who harm children in anyway especially sexually are marked men. Plain and simple. But yeah I agree, Chris has never showed as much hatred in the entire show and I've seen it twice. The Devil was in him when he did that, and honestly IMO for a good reason, fuck that piece of shit.
Chris had the biggest presence when he was on screen... he also sent a chill down the spine every time he was in front of the camera. Probably my favorite character on the show. Brilliant performance.
Chris is so professional in what he does, it’s so casual to him that he finds a way to be nice about it to his victims. He had a broader vision than Marlo and could see his flaws but always played his part and stayed loyal, never straight up questioning Marlo’s decisions but instead offering a better approach.
Chris is the scariest type of og. The type that makes you think he’s doing you a favor by killing you. So reassuring. So polite and out of sight. So unphased by death. It wasn’t until he killed Michaels step father that he truly showed how much rage he truly could reach and went super saiyan. He even had snoop shook. Dudes on some dexter shit.
i must say i didnt understood that untill i read on internet, i really though dad was trying to get better from prison and get along with kids, but damn this is dark stuff
Killing the woman at the store is what truly makes Chris a savage. The other people were all in the game in one way or another but the lady and the security guard were civilians. I think they put that in there so that he never would be viewed as an antihero.
That’s the thing that saved him too cuz Mcnulty knew it was fishy because omar doesn’t kill civilians. He they set him up by killing someone in the game, the cops wouldn’t care as much but it might have slid past Mcnulty that Omar finally finally made a mistake.
It also revealed how Chris had such a fundamental misunderstanding of Omar and how he rolled. Omar wouldn't involve anyone who wasn't in the game, hence how Chris fucked up forcing Old Face Andre to pin that lady's murder on Omar.
You clearly don't know the clinical definition of a psychopath. And most of the people he killed were not innocent. Psychopath are incapable of empathy, or emotion. They care about nothing and no one, family included. not the case with him. That is the reason the army weeds them out, and they make crap teammates.
That was because Michael told him Bugs father molested him. The way he killed him was totally unprofessional, and it was heavily implied that he reacted the way he did, because the same was done to him. that may even be why he become a killer in the first place. If that isn't emotion, I don't know what is. that and the fact that he took Michael under his wing and mentored him like that. Psychopaths cannot do that. and the other time he showed emotion was when at the apartment, they failed to kill Omar. he was worried that he would go after his family. that scene where he throws that knife to the floor. He may be morally reprehensible, but he is not a psychopath. Marlo on the other hand, definitely is.
In my opinion the most intimidating guy on the show. The closest thing to a Sociopath the show gave us. It wasn’t his anger, fury;etc that scares you….but rather the lack of it at times. Great character
@@harrissr.615 His humanity was stolen from being abused at a young age in the most horrible of ways. As Cormac Mccarthy said, "We know very well how to create serial killers."
Seth Stone i think it can go both ways. chris is about to murder someone and yet he's casually talking to him. he's cold. if he was sympathetic, i think he'd be a lot more hesitant before the deed was done and remorseful afterwards.
Omar Little Chris is just straight up fake, that's what it's called. Just like u said. He casually talks to people like he's cool, then he murders them. He just truly ruthless and don't care ! He's terrible!.
pretty much everyone they took into those vacants knew they were going to get killed. that's why they're stone cold killers. these people were so terrified of snoop and Chris that they willingly walked to their own deaths
Chris to me was one of the most interesting characters on the show. There was so much mystery to him. He was quiet and mild-mannered, but also the shows most lethal killer. He had a genuine care for Michael, was most likely molested as a child and had a family he didn't want to be away from for too long. A part of me wished we knew more about his past, but that could take away from his intrigue
"b..b..but the RATS!! I'LL BE ALONE WIT THE RATS!!!" "It's alright. I got your back" Dre definitely has the most favorable reaction to being about to be murdered in a vacant lmao seems like Chris really made him feel better.
Pablo Santiago You can look for "The Wire Casting" video, it shows not just the actors talking about what roles they read for but also a few stand-ins such as Partlow and Bill Zorzi
The hit with the vendor takes my #1 spot as the most haunting death in the series simply due to the randomness of it. In every other death, there was always some level of "involvement" so their murders made sense. Even the security guard fell due to directly confronting Marlo. However, regarding the woman, she had no ties to anything happening in that world. It could've been anybody. She was just in the right place at the wrong time.
The vendor lady's murder wasn't random at all. It was part of the setup to frame Omar for robbing the store. Old faced Andre was to be the victim and also ID Omar as the shooter. The lady was completely innocent though.
When he said "say Omar" to the guy that witnessed the shooting, it implied that they wanted Omar to be charged with the murder. They had to kill a regular person in order to muster up interest from the police. They would not have cared about someone in the game getting killed. It was very cold blooded, but not without purpose.
Chris was fucking crazy. Torture, beating down, killing was on the same level as drinking a glass of water to him. You can only imagine how crazy Marlo is for Chris to follow him.
***** Right, but you never get to see the extent of that. They leave it up to ones imagination, which I think is brilliant. You could only ever tell from the look in his eyes or the way he spoke. He respected and feared no one, not even the cops. Had Carver not been smart enough to retreat, Marlo would have probably had him and Herc, killed. He would have probably killed Chris without a second thought if Chris was in his way.
+Erick Santos Actually, I think Marlo eventually found someone to grudgingly respect, if not fear, towards the end of the series. That one scene when Marlo visits Avon in prison is a textbook example of an imbalance in power dynamics. I believe that Marlo didn't initially take Avon too seriously, calling him weak and, yes, even running him off the streets and into prison. But that time when he visited Avon truly made him change. It showed that if Avon had been the one to deal with the up-and-coming Marlo instead of Stringer all those years ago, Marlo might have met his match. Avon, from the beginning, knew how to push Marlo's buttons, toying with the latter's sense of pride by insinuating that he was working for some "white man in a suit", whereas Stringer had tried unsuccessfully to appeal to Marlo's (probably nonexistent) non-aggressively businessman-like side. And then there's the fact that Avon has influence even over the corrections officers. It was clear that although Marlo stole the crown from Avon and had his fifteen minutes of fame, he was still crude in his power, relying more on fear than a respect-imposing demeanor, and never going to be as respected as Avon. I think Avon had it bad because of having had Stringer take on Marlo, but in the end I still think Avon was more of an experienced and well-respected leader than Marlo was.
I think my favorite thing about the characters in the wire is their eyes. So many fiercely intelligent looking eyes. Always made the characters so much more compelling.
I was always curious about Marlo's and Chris relationship and why Chris was so intensely loyal to Marlo. I'm guessing Marlo saved him from his molester and broken upbringing like he did Micheal or that he just has that loyal soldier like mentality or both
Chris had a family to take care of. Marlo had the money. It's simple. Guys like Chris never rat. They just take the payment and get the job done. No questions asked.
the only nigga chris snoop an marlo was scared of was omar that punk ass marlo went into hidin after omar got away in monk's apt. anlook how relieved chris an snoop looked when he told em omar was bagged up. cause they knew he was comin for them next. i just wish omar would've got some back up maybe called kimmie or somebody.
Gbenga Akinnagbe, aka Chris Partlow, kills with such a cold efficiency and calmness that would make a sociopath be terrified. Amazing actor, amazing character.
Controlling people like snoop and Chris means spilting equal means of production. He let them get the retail corner sales and marlo took in wholesale money. And Marlo wasn't scared to do what he asked them to do and they knew that
I've watched many tv series during my life. Chris Partlow has always haunted me ever since I watched all 5 seasons of The Wire for the first time. He doesn't think about death row, spending the rest of his life in a prison or what happens to his soul after he dies. He just kills.... never thinks twice, he just kills like it's an every week thing for him. He doesn't seem to regret anything. Killing for him is easier than for "normal" people to choose what cereal they want to eat lol
That's what makes him such a great character. Very few people know someone or have someone like Chris Partlow in their life. He does something on a regular basis that "normal" people consider heinous, and it's just a regular part of his life, like picking up milk from the grocery store. For us "normal" folks, that makes him intriguing because we have a hard time wrapping our mind around someone living a life where killing people is pretty much an everyday "errand". We're voyeuristic, we like to peek into the lives of individuals that live outside the realm of what "we" think is "normal society". It's why Breaking Bad was/is such a popular show.
What an amazing character, incredible acting. My respect for causing me to sit on the edge of my seat the first time I watched the wire. If only I could watch the wire again for the first time.
That’s only cause you know about Marlo only what you see in the show. It’s what you don’t see that makes everyone else fear him. The jail scene shows you that. I would bet Marlo is way worse than Chris and Snoop, he just doesn’t need to get his hands dirty anymore. If I remember correctly someone referred to Marlo as the devil at one point in the show
@@Carlito_Brigante I agree with you. Marlo couldn't be reasoned with and was a psychopath. He ENJOYED killing, inflicting pain, watching things suffer. Chris had a code and would listen to reason. In addition, his "I gotchu" attitude showed that he didn't enjoy watching people suffer - he killed them quickly. Haven't heard too many people mention it, but I think that Kenard was the new Marlo. Them showing him lighting a cat on fire is the indication. He enjoys watching things suffer.
It just occurred to me, I sometimes see parallels being drawn between the police and the criminals they investigate, but Chris is, actually, a police officer. I mean, he isn't a cop, but he is very similar to Landsman. He's doing exactly what he's told, even though he's doing his best to keep his boss from raining too much Hell on his own people. He trains his soldiers, expects compliance regardless of what they're told, and in the end he ends up doing quite a bit because of "political" reasons that aren't necessarily related to his job. Most of his killings are investigations into other "crimes", but he is very methodical about it. And, in the end, he gets screwed like McNulty not because of how he does his job, but because he cares too much about one job in particular. He loses himself in a quest for "justice" and ends up leaving his DNA all over the place.
I still say that Barksdale Organization from Season 1 takes down Marlo from any season easy. Chris was the only one that had any real planning plus The Barksdales lacked the recklessness of the rest of Marlo's muscle. I had a thought though, the actor that played Chris, Gbenga Akinnagbe, was an extra as a cop in a scene in Season 1. What if that was Chris? It would certainly explain his obvious training and precision. Also I love how he responds to Andre's "My family won't know" with "They'll know." He seemed to carry his self with some honor.
Season 3 Barksdale Organization takes down Stanfield Organization too. They were about to ambush Marlo with grenades and all that shit. The only reason the Barksdale Organization fell is because Stringer snitched on Avon. Marlo just got lucky that's all.
ucantknockthehustle Yeah but he wouldn't have made it past 2 episodes with Season 1's crew. Remember, the Barksdales actually almost killed Omar after he set them up while Chris and company set up Omar and still couldn't hit him.
**(might contain some spoilers)** i agree, barksdale season 1 probably had enough muscle to take down marlo in season 3, but by mid season 5, marlo owned all of baltimore with enough muscle to keep it in check. the thing is, marlo had the pride of avon, and the coldness of stringer, but he was also more cautious, more businesslike (more so than stringer), and more efficient than them. after omar broke into marlo's card game, marlo joined the co-op, while when the barksdale organization was in trouble mid-season 2, avon refused to take prop joe's package until stringer went behind his back. marlo listened enough to take good advice then did away with his enemies like prop joe and hungryman to assume control of baltimore also, for as ruthless as chris was, he was loyal to marlo and served good advice and oversight when needed. stringer wanted it his way while chris never stood out against marlo avon got ambushed by omar and shot by chris. marlo knew how to play the game better than anyone else and came close to getting hit once at the end of season 3
Sam61493 *****SPOILERS***** I think you should say the Stanfield Organisation as a collective was more efficient and businesslike because there were times when Marlo made silly mistakes like his card games -- which was apparently his only vice -- and when he was thinking of going to celebrate in AC after topping Prop Joe. Chris on both occasions warns him against both of these impulses (reacts negatively when Marlo suggests using more money for gambling and says he's needs to prepare for Omar respectively). Without Chris, Marlo would have slipped, and those two situations were possibly fatal. But then Marlo was indeed a clever player, knew how to war and knew how to manipulate and intimidate people and was sociopathic in his quest for power. Also, bear in mind that the Barksdale Organisation had the drop on the top 3 (Marlo, Chris & Snoop) just before Avon got arrested (which was a result of a "crisis of leadership" in his crew thus showing that he was definitely on his way out), so it was also a fair bit of luck that lead to Marlo to being the -- very brief -- kingpin of Baltimore.
Sooftah I don't know on both counts. I don't think they were as efficient as they were pragmatic. They tended to kill just in case and Chris had an ingenious way of disposing of the bodies but that caused fear and enmity among those they worked with which makes people react to you irrationally like what Bodie did. It wouldn't have been long before everyone turned on Marlo. Also, Marlo wasn't as business orientated as one would think, he was just power hungry, there was no reason for him to raise the price of the package once he got control of it. All that would've managed to do was force members of the Co-op out since price was a large reason for joining it. I think the only thing Marlo really had going for him was viciousness.
Just noticed how Marlo wanted Stringer's hit to be attached to his name. An indication that he needed to keep trying to boost his reputation and back his name. Marlo's whole journey throughout the show was flexing his name on power trips. He could never garner the respect that Avon had. It was all about fear for him. My name is my name...
Brother Walton Marlo never wanted Stringer's death added to his rep. When his handler told Marlo what the streets is saying which is that Marlo killed Stringer. What was Marlo's response? "It don't make me no never mind." Which means he don't care. If the streets is saying that then add it to his jacket, he's not gonna correct them, so let them keep talking.
Which is funny as by the end of the show even though he enjoys taking a corner on his own, he is truly on his own with no muscle to do his work for him.
nomad17 Not true at all. He wanted his death on his jacket. As you can recall, Snoop was spreading rumors that Stringer pissed himself when she and Chris killed him and Fruit and the rest were like oh word?. Marlo wanted fame and the only one that read him correctly was Avon and Omar.
I never understood why people in those vacants....or anybody for that matter....didn't go down FIGHTING. I aint getting on my knees and getting executed.
The description hit the nail on the head. Watching this show, whenever I seen Chris I got the willies. His persona was felt through the screen. Melvin said ''I ain't done nothing lately to piss you off, right''. It was like being in the presence of death and watching the show I felt the same way. That was one scary character.
I didnt mind chris, he was a good character. He played his part and put in work more professionally than the other muscle...I liked him better than marlo
The man had the most common sense amongst Marlo's crew (more so than Marlo himself, on occasion), no doubt. Also, what he did for his family, was very admirable.
Ethan MJ Speaking of that scene, is it true that one of the reasons for him killing Michael's dad, was because he, himself, actually had experience with getting molested in his younger years?
Chris and Marlo were actual friends more then just his worker, he actually listened to Chris and took his advice, he was one of the only characters who even knew Chris had a family, I’m thinking they came up together, Marlo was the face, Chris was the brand, Chris knew his place and didn’t wanna be a boss like slim and weebey
Chris always approach things tactically and would use certain wording (“good to go, outstanding”) which shows some military training, possibly an infantry MOS and combat experience... He never drew attention to himself, the only time he broke character was when he beat to death Michael’s Biological father... The perfect weapon in a criminal organization.
He can’t be military or he’d be locked up way earlier for killing Michael’s step father. Dude spit on him and your dna is in the system if you military
Chris and snoop are the two most loyal, ruthless and smoothest soldiers you could ever get. That is extremely rare in the game. Thats why Marlo became so big and had a good operative. His soldiers were stable as fuck.
"Don't fret boss I got you covered. Quick and clean I promise" Chris looks out for his kills 😂😂😂 "The difference is my my people they won't know" *They'll know* "But the rats I'll be alone with the rats" *I got your back* lmao 😂😂😂
Why wear a mask if pretty much everybody they meet... They intend to assassinate. The only ones they let live are to leave a message and that lady on the bed.
The messed up part was that package lady didn't even know she was about to die and she had a smile and even called him baby, and he still killed her! That nappy headed dude did his work and RIP to that lady!!! Scariest part of the Wire in my book!
I love how Snoop's voice goes high pitch when saying "The boy ain't right". This is so spot on. Growing up in DC, I heard some of the hardest dudes go high pitch when saying certain things. Brilliant capture here!!
@ 4:00 always cracks me up. "mutha fucka, you hear the nigga talking to you giving you praises and shit and you standing there looking fucking stupid." Classic Snoop.
@@TJDiggs-sc9is Nah bro that wasn't it, Snoop just wanted to get the dude into the empty house beforehand ......although Chris did say he was on the inside before and he may very well have been raped himself
@@David-yq4yn I disagree. The way Snoop just stayed back and let Chris "vent", and the look on her face, seemed to me, at least, that she knew this was different from their other jobs. Remember, Chris was always cold, calculated and professional when it came to taking out marks. This is probably the first time Snoop saw Chris express any type of emotion, and Snoop knew, or at least had an idea, of why this dude was being taken out (I could be wrong, because when she asked Michael "What'd he ever do to you?", Michael didn't answer, but Chris knew in that moment why Michael wanted Bug's dad out of the picture, and we don't know if Chris relayed that info to Snoop). Either way, I feel like Snoop knew this one was personal, which is why she didn't interrupt Chris as he was beating Bug's dad to a pulp, because she knew it would fall on deaf ears. Snoop's never had a problem with speaking up and expressing what's on her mind in the past. And her reaction/non-reaction made that scene even more powerful, in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.
The scary thing about Chris and Snoop was that they were like still in their 20s you know. The average mafia hitman is a grown-ass man, but these 2 were just still in their 20s I think, and already responsible for so many cold murders.
MrEnjoyBeats that is scary alright, but you cannot compare ghetto hitmen with proper mafia made men. In their world, people like Chris and Snoop would rarely have a professional career past 30. They would either be dead or locked up.
MrEnjoyBeats You realize best soldiers are teenagers, 16-18 right? Very easy to indoctrinate, plus they have no fear, no realization of the consequences of their actions.
+MrEnjoyBeats Many gang hitmen are around 14-16 especially in places like Chicago. They try to take advantage of the fact that their record is likely to be cleaned at a certain age.
The funniest thing, the actor is a completely different person. Totally chill and laid back. I think he does Broadway now if I’m not mistaken. I went to high school with him in Gaithersburg Maryland. He is also Wale( recording artist) cousin.
actually i like the way it sounds, hes already (in moments) accepted his fate, his fat ass aint running, and chris and snoop are not only much more limber, younger, and LOADED and ready...and what is Old Face gonna do ? so he wants his people to you know find his body, know what happened, hes scared, upst, but he aint gonna break down n start crying most of these guys accept the reality of death/prison simply put...hell it comes for us all (in 1 form or another, death that is) and for these guys usually sooner, and more violent I mean HEAR Old Face's voice "chris...NoooO" it sounds scared, upset, all those emotions all at once, HERE, but ...the rats....ill be alone with the rats I dont think that sounds fake...it was well done. fat man scared, but accepts his fate, whats he gonna do run ? and take 3 in the back ? he still doesn't stand a chance so walk like a man, and chill chris will make it quick...you'd be surprised what a human is willing to do when he knows his circumstances and he has no options (like Stringer knew). lol i still like Snoops "wahts the difference" like shit your fat ass gonna rott no matter where we dump yo carcass, so whats the fuckin difference lol its brutal, and funny at the same time
Cracks me up that when I checked out an interview for the actor he was all bright faced and upbeat who has been in a lot of plays, I wish he was in more shit, definitely one of my favorite characters
I wish they would have developed Chris and Marlow's back stories a little better. However I like how they developed Michael's character. Michael eventually became Chris/Omar.
Dude he turned into Omar but he will never be like Chris. Chris has no code, just killing anyone he is told to kill, with no disregard for citizens. Omar and Micheal would never kill anyone who isn't in the game.
The lack of backstory I think helps both in the long run. They’re all about business, only thing that matters to them. They both come out of no where and hit like a blitzkrieg in ww2. Not knowing anything other than Chris was probably raped as a kid and big brothers Michael really makes him seem like the grim reaper even more.
It's creepy how polite Chris is to almost everyone he's about to kill. "Aiight I gotchu bruh, quick and clean, right in the head. Ay can I get ya somethin' real quick boss, like a pillow? Maybe a snack?"
Kind of similar to Todd in BB.

Well said
And when stringer tells Bodie to kill Wallace he says it in a subtle ass way I didn't even know he wanted him dead my first time watching
I didn’t get that Chris was necessarily molested. He was a father and maybe he had a general disgust for child molesters because he had children. Not that he was molested. Some say he’s had military training and combat experience and business is why he is in a mercenary type position in the game.
they pretty much said it when Bunk was reviewing the file on Michael's dad. He says "you baby-bumping motherfucker" while he's reading it.
I mean its not a bad thing when show tells you the problem. Some people dont pay attention to details and just want entertainment.

Roy White that was one time and Marlo loved Michael and was sad about it
I think chris liked michael because he related with michael.
That was, for me, one of the finest and most intense scenes of that entire series.

and Chris kinda feared him a little too.

He's not your average "gang banger", but has no aspirations to be a "king pin" either.

voteZDLR No its not. I haven’t watched but its clear chris had been raped before. And he was in his feelings when beating his ass

You can’t reason with a psychopath

the punisher will give him a run for his money, shiiit, every bodies money on that show lol
He did have emotion, he wasn't a psychopath like Marlo. It's just that he was really, really professional.
You clearly don't know the clinical definition of a psychopath. And most of the people he killed were not innocent. Psychopath are incapable of empathy, or emotion. They care about nothing and no one, family included. not the case with him. That is the reason the army weeds them out, and they make crap teammates.
jimmd56 i only seen Chris show emotion one time, and that was with Bugs father. To be honest i don't really know if u can call that emotion.

You mean wrong place wrong time.
It was an intimidation tactic
The vendor lady's murder wasn't random at all. It was part of the setup to frame Omar for robbing the store. Old faced Andre was to be the victim and also ID Omar as the shooter. The lady was completely innocent though.
When he said "say Omar" to the guy that witnessed the shooting, it implied that they wanted Omar to be charged with the murder. They had to kill a regular person in order to muster up interest from the police. They would not have cared about someone in the game getting killed.
+Erick Santos marlo would never kill 2 armed cops, it would be even worse for them than the time the force hunted down wee-bey.
How do you know what Marlo would or would not do? They never show you how crazy the guy really is.
***** Exactly
I'm guessing Marlo saved him from his molester and broken upbringing like he did Micheal or that he just has that loyal soldier like mentality or both
Damn,..I never thought of it that way. Good thought my bro. 👌🏾

@@dbodooley T'cho ass up, fool.
I always wondered what Marlo had done to win Chris' respect and loyalty, Chris could just as easily run his own crew
Chris is not a boss.
Ousamah Younoss Soliman Chris isn't the Lead type he's the hands-on type
Controlling people like snoop and Chris means spilting equal means of production. He let them get the retail corner sales and marlo took in wholesale money. And Marlo wasn't scared to do what he asked them to do and they knew that
deharleyva depends on the organization. The mob will tax you even if you got the connect.
Ousamah Younoss Soliman facts....but you've got to be a thinker..not a reactor..

No shit bro. That’s the best statement I’ve heard regarding this series. Straight up.
When he killed that delivery lady with ‘a woman’s worth’ on the speakers 🤦🏾♂️
That was so damn powerful and chilling at the same time.
That was the coldest murder in the series...
I never catch those details
sam yeah that was fucked up.
the delivery lady, whateva happened theah.
I always love villains that are equally likeable as they are terrifying. You’d want to be on his good side, just not his bad.
"damn, you didn't even wait to get the mathafucka in the house" 😂😂😂
Saw when Chris spit on him? THAT'S what got him busted. Fucking sad, because that's the one kill that was done for an arguably good reason.
kilahchris it would've been both...the spit, and blood from him punching the chomo barehanded.
It was the kick. Blood on his boots.
Snoop was the best sidekick ever. If she was carrying a bucket . . .
@kilahchris it was the spit
Chris was more scary than Marlo, you can order a hit, but the way Chris went about carrying it out was chilling
I think you are 100% correct
Brilliant break down
I actually like this analysis and comparison.
this entire show draws parallels between the different legal and illegal organizations...its kinda the point
Interesting
**(might contain some spoilers)**
i agree, barksdale season 1 probably had enough muscle to take down marlo in season 3, but by mid season 5, marlo owned all of baltimore with enough muscle to keep it in check.
the thing is, marlo had the pride of avon, and the coldness of stringer, but he was also more cautious, more businesslike (more so than stringer), and more efficient than them. after omar broke into marlo's card game, marlo joined the co-op, while when the barksdale organization was in trouble mid-season 2, avon refused to take prop joe's package until stringer went behind his back. marlo listened enough to take good advice then did away with his enemies like prop joe and hungryman to assume control of baltimore
also, for as ruthless as chris was, he was loyal to marlo and served good advice and oversight when needed. stringer wanted it his way while chris never stood out against marlo
avon got ambushed by omar and shot by chris. marlo knew how to play the game better than anyone else and came close to getting hit once at the end of season 3
Sam61493
*****SPOILERS***** I think you should say the Stanfield Organisation as a collective was more efficient and businesslike because there were times when Marlo made silly mistakes like his card games -- which was apparently his only vice -- and when he was thinking of going to celebrate in AC after topping Prop Joe.
"hey Chris, I ain't done nothing lately to upset you have I?" LMFAOOOO me if I lived in Baltimore

Brother Walton I agree but I guess he'll rather fear more than respect because it last longer
True he was looking mad when omar robbed him and didnt know who he was
The fact Andre tried to reason with Chris about where to kill him lol

The description hit the nail on the head. Watching this show, whenever I seen Chris I got the willies. His persona was felt through the screen. Melvin said ''I ain't done nothing lately to piss you off, right''. It was like being in the presence of death and watching the show I felt the same way. That was one scary character.
I didnt mind chris, he was a good character. He played his part and put in work more professionally than the other muscle...I liked him better than marlo
The man had the most common sense amongst Marlo's crew (more so than Marlo himself, on occasion), no doubt. Also, what he did for his family, was very admirable.
Cole Samoth Yeah, and at lease he didn't kill people in a brutal way, except Micheal's dad because he thought he molested him.
Ethan MJ Speaking of that scene, is it true that one of the reasons for him killing Michael's dad, was because he, himself, actually had experience with getting molested in his younger years?
Cole Samoth I have definitely heard that reasoning before. I am not sure if its true though.
Ethan MJ Yeah, I can't even remember where I heard that theory in all honesty. Maybe he reacted that way because he had a kid of his own, who knows?

Bugs Dad, not Michael's

He full time with this Mickey Mouse shit here.
