This is often done in favor of the victims. Because if there is no plea bargain this would mean the children have to go to court on the witness stand and relive the torture, and would probably delay the healing process, or even make the healing process way more difficult.

First of all, Ruby doesn’t seem to be mentally well. Secondly, she was under the influence of 2 cults: the LDS church, which has it’s own strange views on parenting, + the cult of Jodi Hilderbrandt. Jodi had already abused, manipulated and destroyed people during 15 years of ”counceling”. She was also counceling Ruby a long time before the two started their collaboration and probably inspired many of Ruby’s ideas. My guess is that she has zero insight into what she has actually done to her children, but it's another opportunity to get her face in the media. Let's all remember that she profited from publicly (all over the country and beyond) defaming and villifying her children, and then using that as an excuse for sadism. She is every bit as narcissistic, lying, manipulating, and grandiosely indffiferent as VANDER ARK. NO DIFFERENT, except that her son finally escaped, otherwise he would also have perished.

After listening to some interviews on the “Mormon Stories Podcast” (some of which were taken down because the podcast was threatened with lawsuit), one with Jodi Hildebrandt’s own niece, I am convinced that there is a strong possibility that Jodi Hildebrandt had a history of abusing her position and authority in such a way that she systematically separates families and brainwashes some people. Not to absolve Ruby Franke of her own guilt or responsibility in these heinous crimes. But there is a deeper story connected to what happens whenever highly religious people are told to trust other people who are given a lot of authority within their religion.

A very good point. People who are deeply involved in superstitious religion are much more vulnerable to control and any kind of manipulations.

Many religions are light on spirituality & heavy on control, authority, guilt, punishment & brainwashing
Mind blowing the number of people who find it difficult to respect themselves & others, even with the supposed help & guidance of corporate religions

I’ve always wondered if Ruby was a victim of abuse when she was growing up. It was almost like she was taking it out on her children.

Whether she was or not, it should be neither a reason, nor an excuse, to justify what she did. The evil she inflicted on her helpless children will affect them for the rest of their lives. Sometimes people are just born evil.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being curious about a person's past but I agree, we need to quit allowing it to factor in for leniency.

I sincerely hope the sentencing judge takes into account the long-term harm to the children such as potentially developing skin cancer from being exposed to UV, malnutrition due to the lack of meals impacting their health, educational disadvantage due to her type of home schooling, long-term trauma etc. And, could someone hold the father accountable for what HE did or allowed to happen to his children.

After watching Ruby refuse to take lunch to her six year old, I don't think she needed much incouragement, to seriously abuse her children.

I would really like to see a video about this father. I'm not sure there is enough information about him in the public but it would make for an interesting analysis about the family and especially about this couples dynamic.

I was aware of Ruby Franke's crimes but homeopathic remedies? I hope the judge throws the book at her.

    • @badtvbad1

It's worse than that. The police found honey and cayenne pepper with some bandages. Evidently, rubbing cayenne pepper into OPEN WOUNDS was their idea of homeopathic remedy. Nowhere will you find advice to put cayenne into broken skin, this homeopathic remedy is designed for external use only. Can you imagine what it felt like to have cayenne put into an open wound? That was extreme torture. Worse than half of what she confessed to. It would have created an insane burning sensation that would go on and on. I'm sure it felt like an eternity. These poor kids. They've been through unspeakable torture. I hope they can get good help and a loving home. This will be with them forever.

She is evil, her action didn’t start when she met Jody it was simmering while she was releasing her 8 passenger’s videos. I hope she stays in prison until her children are grown up and she can’t have any influence.

Charges of attempted murder should have been added. The apology is not genuine, The proper outcome is life in prison.
