This is often done in favor of the victims. Because if there is no plea bargain this would mean the children have to go to court on the witness stand and relive the torture, and would probably delay the healing process, or even make the healing process way more difficult.

I think you're right. I think that Ruby lived in a sub-culture that required women to be submissive and obedient. She felt disempowered. She had to have kids and be a housewife whether or not she wanted to. This caused resentment. She couldn't take it out on her husband, her church or her community but she could direct this anger towards her children. Some people will direct their anger not against those who've offended them but against those who are vulnerable.

First of all, Ruby doesn’t seem to be mentally well. Secondly, she was under the influence of 2 cults: the LDS church, which has it’s own strange views on parenting, + the cult of Jodi Hilderbrandt. Jodi had already abused, manipulated and destroyed people during 15 years of ”counceling”. She was also counceling Ruby a long time before the two started their collaboration and probably inspired many of Ruby’s ideas. People can do terrible things when under the influence of a cult leader, look at Jim Jones or Manson’s family.

My guess is that she has zero insight into what she has actually done to her children, but it's another opportunity to get her face in the media. Let's all remember that she profited from publicly (all over the country and beyond) defaming and villifying her children, and then using that as an excuse for sadism. She is every bit as narcissistic, lying, manipulating, and grandiosely indffiferent as VANDER ARK. NO DIFFERENT, except that her son finally escaped, otherwise he would also have perished.

So I’m puzzled how dealing with her own shortcomings gets translated into harsh treatment for her kids. Displacement? Projection? Evil?

Thank you Dr Grande, for your theory/opinion on the events regarding this case. I can only hope the children receive the adequate therapy/support and treatment. And pray, they fully recover from this trauma.

Thank you for an excellent analysis. From watching the family videos, both Ruby and her husband seemed to abuse their children. The punishments they gave their children were beyond the pale in many instances. Her husband is ridiculous in his current behavior, insisting that he knew nothing. The charges against Ruby are horrendous, but as you say, she herself is still responsible. Jodi is evil as well, but Ruby was influenced by her very late in the game. I feel so sad for all those children. I can’t imagine how they will ever be able to enjoy a sense of self and happiness. I truly grieve for them.

Agreed but I know that when he's coming up with those one liners he's smiling internally and that always gets me laughing even more 🤣🤣

At the rate of abuse inflicted on the kids if Ruby hadn't been caught when she was I think there definitely would have been at least one dead child because of her
