Greetings from USA. I agree with you. I hope Laos become prosperous. It's an underrated country, but the people are very sweet and it's a beautiful place.
@@TripsonBudget I get your point that this is out of the reach of the majority of the Lao people, in the meantime we are waiting another 10 years to get a slow train to the international airport in Melbourne. That's after the last 8 years of planning. At least it may be finished by the time I retire and am heading off to these wonderful places.

Took that Train from Vientaine to Lung Prabang return this year, really good and so well organised ,have to say I was impressed. I believe eventually it will join China to Malaysia
The line is already connected with the Chinese railway network and there are freight trains to China. At the moment there is only passenger train to the Chinese border due to the pandemic, and hopefully passenger trains will connect Vientiane and Kunming next year
Looking to do this with family later this year. I rode my bicycle from Vientiane to luang Prabang a few years ago during the wet season great trip really beautiful in the mountains

Yes, China's high-speed railway will connect the whole world, starting from China and going south to Singapore, Indonesia and even Australia. Southwest to India. North to Russia. West to England, Spain, Africa and South Africa. East Japan, Canada, America, Mexico, South America and Argentina.

if i remember correctly the train only reach thai border, thai was planning for 2 phases of contruction, south part first, then north. i guess they were just planning to provide consctruction jobs for locals, not really connecting with lao train. it would probably gonna take 8-10years to get rail line all the way from china to thailand. i guess you can just forget about malaysia or singapore. we might immigrant to mars before we connect singapore with rails XD.
Considering the amount of rain we received each year, I'm surprise they didn't build the roof out abit more to make it more convenient to take taxi without getting wet. Many times I found public transport design did not always consider the weather. While in Asia we have to deal with sun and rain, in Europe many train platforms are open-air and during winter making it so painful to wait the train.
These videos are great! Thank you for taking them. I visited Laos just before the pandemic in 2020. I had to fly from Vientiane to Luong Prabang. One thing that struck me with these train stations is how far they all are from the downtowns, they felt as remote as airports in the US are to their cities. Are there plans for connecting the cities to these airports with transit and urban expansion? Did you see any signs of this?
You are right Patrick, the train stations are far out of town. In Vang Vieng it was ok, but Luang Prabang and Vientiane, the stations are about 20 km from the city.
Land outside the city is much cheaper, and easier to buy. As there are buses to take you into town I don't se an issue with it. The population is very small compared to other SE Asia countries, so that level of expansion is unlikely.

@蔡English So as a Chinese person you seem to think that the whole world should revolve around you, and every one else is worthless. Well you are entitled to your opinion, but it is only based on what the government wants you to know. However right now your economy is in turmoil, due to the housing market collapsing, so I feel sad for you.
The train is built for cargo, not passengers. So to keep costs down and be able to build as straight as possible, the Chinese builders put them outside of major towns. I believe the cargo trains run during nights and passengers on day time.
@@temper44 There is some truth is what you say, but the land is cheaper or still controlled by the government away from th town centers, which is a main reason for where the stations are built.
