i know Im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
The edge of the line your marker created was along the edge of each cutout within the original key. Trimming it so the line just disappears is the correct dimension. Think about if you created a copy from the copy, your key would gradually become less functional if the marker line is visible.
Believe it or not you just inspired me to file cut 2 keys with the marker trick. I ended up tipping the original key with a blank on a flat surface and then taped them together with some cellophane tape. I used the marker to trace the cuts and filed to the line. I'm shocked because the duplicate worked the first time. Beginner's luck. (I did make a second copy with the same technique, and it worked too).
I used the lishi cutter on an all keys lost 2002 Opel Astra G .. also used space and dept keys to make the key as I was out in the Australian bush ( no power ) I used the Autel maxidas ds708 to add the id40 chips .to the vehicle .
Hello PJ, when I first started using a Lishi hand key cutter, I went through so many blanks it wasn't funny. But with practice I became more proficient. I recommend having one in you bag just in case of an emergency. Thank you PJ for another awesome video. Thank you for sharing!
I wound up in a situation of needing some early 60's Ford keys duplicated, but nobody could do it for me in town. I wound up tracing the first few like you did with a pencil and used a mini file set. Triangle/square to mark the location of the cuts. Round file to make the cuts and a flat file to round the ramps and peaks. I've made 5 keys and they've all worked. 3 work perfect, 2 work good and if I messed with them some more they'd work perfect too. So, I guess that method works too lol.
Just getting into the trade and I'm glad I stumbled upon this video early! I'm going to pick one of those cutters up asap and give it a try. I think a dremel with a carbide bit and then swap out to a Cratex rubber wheel to clean up the burrs. Thanks for this and all the comments guys! Subbed👌
Ha, I use a hpc1200 to impression. Speaking of impressioning, you guys got to check out this guys method. So impressive. ua-cam.com/video/sSfK6nw0hD8/v-deo.html or search Rosendo Cerrajero
I duplicate keys by noting the depths of each cut, then using Space & Depth keys make the key. Same problem as the video-- the Lishi leave the cuts high and it's hard to nibble away .010". I usually go to a file for the final pass to the true depth.
I used these lishi cutters a lot with a school that had a lot of vintage Schlage locks that used SC22 key blanks that needed cut or duplicated. Thanks for sharing!🙏🏼✌🏼 #lockboss
I don't have one, but I think I'd be trying to nibble a little at a time, mic-ing the depth each time. Maybe try to speed the process up a little by seeing where the proper cut lined up with the indicators on the anvil of the tool. Any issues with key deformation?
Decode with lishi tool. Scribe key blank with callipers according to manufacturer spec . sheet. Use lishi cutter to cut key to lock on the spot. Touch up with jewellers files and 800 grit sand paper. Door unlocked and key replaced in 10-15 mins.
Lockboss# Really good information on Lisha cutter. Along with space and depth key. If you had a recommendation for some really good files that would be killer.
Another great adaptation of the LiShi cutters is some schlage guides 3d printed over at red team tools. I'd love to see something like that in your catalog PJ. #lockboss
So far I have had no success with this. The technique I saw was to pair the keys with a vise grip and use the existing key as a guide. I pinned up a cutaway lock to test against. I did a bit of filing to try to correct, then threw away the 2 failed attempts. I am quite sure this takes a bit of trial and error / practice. Glad I bought 50 SC1 blanks.
Great job. However I feel that this would be best for cutting keys for wafer locks(As they have loose tolerances and high accuracy isn’t necessary for smooth operation)
Remember when you mark the key with the sharpie you need to remove the line from the blank. If you leave the line you didnt cut deep enough. Woodworkers always havecto remember rather to leave the and what side of the to cut
i wonder how the cuts look. a 1200 is pretty square and smooth on both edges. pak-a-punch and blue punch have one edge of cut square and the other edge like it was stretched and snapped off. theres a minimum amount of material one can remove or the cutter just slides off.
Brilliant buddy,I’m thinking of trying to start car key cutting and programming, I’ve absolutely no experience hence the reason I’m checking out UA-cam vids, I’m definitely going to buy one of those lishi cutters and practice if nothing else i might get a few house keys out of it, many thanks from Edinburgh Scotland 🏴👍
I line the keys up, clamp them with vice grips then chip away until it's close. Then I use a file and a bit of impressioning to finish them off. Only takes a few minutes to make a key.
I figured out how to make this work on the cheap! My target was an SC1. I removed the SC1 plug from a cheap lock. Pinned it with the original pinning. Paired the 2 keys with vise grips. Nipped using the original as a guide. Inserted the new and found 3 of 5 were close. A little filing till the pins were flush with the plug and SUCCESS!
In trying to cut a motorcycle key with the lishi, it's doing my head in.. I can't hold the keys together for a good tracing, as they have molded covers. I feel I may be missing something obvious, but what's the best way to get an accurate template to cut to with the lishi, on a key that requires both edges be symmetrical like a two way motorcycle wafer key?
Stencil on paper and transfer that way maybe? Or even press it in some silly putty and use it as a template or something like that. Or heck, trace original key on paper, cut out the template and tape it to the blank then nip away lol
@@AndrewClairTaylor I also figured out how they were held in the plastic base of the key to remove them.. Earlier Ducati keys have a little metal rivet through the key into the plastic, under the little silver D symbol. Once they're out, they can be aligned. I was going to suggest if the paper method didn't work to use a hacksaw and just hack the head off the key, then buy 2 blanks to transfer to.
