    Closing in on 1 yr on my grand Cherokee 4xe and can honestly say I've been extremely satisfied. I'm a big skier and wanted something more comfortable for the i70 traffic 😅 ...... after you depleted the battery, i still get over 30mpg. There have been many times I've reached far greater mpg. Although, being able to charge going down mountains is a big help. The kicker for me is the fact I haven't filled up my gas tank in over a month. 25+ miles doesn't seem like a ton, but if you live in a city of any decent size, just about everything seems to be in range. This jeep has really grown on me, yes I wish it had a bigger battery, but to have both all electric and gas rt now just seems better. (Plz keep in mind I'm coming out of a 2016 Wrangler 4dr base, needless to say it was like coming out of a stage coach and into the future) The charging system here in CO, and especially out in the mountains, is just not where it should be in 2024.

      If you are on the highway, say going 85mph you can charge your battery up in eSave mode. There are some deep settings to bring it back up to the level you want when you're in eSave mode.

    0 to 60 in 6 seconds or less for a mid sized suv with 4lo and tons of tech/features is very impressive. This is a very capable suv that gets great gas mileage for what it is.

    Nice review! I just bought a new GC Overland edition and went with the non-hybrid V6. With the cruise set on 70-75 I’m getting about 26 mpg on I-10. The 2 lane highway going to my house is a 55 speed limit and so far I’m routinely getting 28 mpg on that road. It was nearly $10k more to get my GC in the 4xe version so even if I could save $1,000 a year in gas, it would take me 10 years just to break even. I’ve spoken to a couple of guys at the gas pump running the 4xe and they both told me their hwy mpg was only around 20-22 running 70 or so. The wife and I want a hybrid GC but we’re going to wait until they come a little bit farther along.

    I just ordered a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited gas only. I was looking for a hybrid, but the problem I found was that the hybrid option was only available with the high end Summit trim packages which included a lot of extras I was not needing or will to pay for. So the upfront cost was much higher than if they had made the hybrid version available in a lower trim package. In the end the hybrid version would not pencil out for me due to the higher upfront cost. I was unlikely to make up the price differences with energy savings, gas and electric.

    Great work, I have found it difficult to figure out the cost numbers with my GC 4xe Summit Reserve. Thanks for punching some numbers. I simply drive it try to operate in electric as much as possible for best efficiency. I find it super helpful to use e-Save on some longer trips so I can choose to use battery power only when stopped or I want quiet operation and just plan to use it prior to returning to a charger. It's great to be able to run the HVAC and other systems on the battery only. The only complaints I have is one, no auto hold function and two, crappy auto park function (not that it's really needed). Also, I'd like to see a few safety improvements like, an option to not let the vehicle drive when the rear hatch is open, and warning when charge door open or plugged in. And one more big problem and pro tip, do not remote start the car with the app with the key in the car. If so, you cannot unlock the doors or cancel the auto start. You are simply locked out until the auto start function times out, this is a big problem. I have issues a complaint with Jeep, not expecting a fix.

      @JamboneMan Рік тому +1

      Sorry, forgot one more thing that may help others, the back hatch locked closed and could not be opened. The dealer had to connect a computer and command the vehicle to re-open the hatch. I have no idea what caused this issue. It only happen once. If other see this issue, you will have to have the dealer re-open the hatch, weird issue.

      SO true goldeneagle - I do a lot of miles for work here in the UK and learnt a long time ago just HOW much money I can lose by buying expensive new cars, putting on the miles and then selling! So - I bought an old Golf diesel for £500 and took it up to 324,000 miles on original engine, clutch and gearbox and still going strong - averaging over 50mpg too! Currently I'm using a little Citroen bought for £300 (even for me - a bargain!), near 60mpg, zero depreciation and in three years it's cost next to nothing in maintenance. People think I'm not interested in cars.....nothing could be further from the truth - but I don't need the tech, complications - and poor vision of modern vehicles.....not to mention the loss of much money!

  • @user-ut4sj4lh8s

    Is it still Hybrid mode when the battery is "fully" depleted (I now it never fully depletes)? I would say that is more like gas only mode since there is no power from the electric portion of the power train to help out the ICE motor. In this mode I would think the gas motor is spending extra fuel trying to charge the battery, and economy is even worse. That type of test is good for a worst case scenario fuel economy or gas only economy, but if you want true Hybrid economy I would think you'd have to have a full charge to best support the gas engine.

      It only runs at worse until the tank of gas is done. Unless you are doing mostly electric, it won’t occur. If you are maxing out the battery life only in this car, I think instead you should have gone for pure EV instead, the electric motors are not mega, so don’t expect you pay $60k+ for a car just to save a few dollars on gas.
      Think of this as a gas car with a battery augmentation…

    I got the 2023 gc 4xe summit reserve and drove almost 2k miles so far. I have driven it through multiple types of terrain but mostly city / highway. I’ve been driving it on hybrid and only filling gas (not charging besides regen braking). My mpg falls between 17-19 overall. So about 340 miles to the tank. Jeep advertises 440 combined city / highway on gas only (23 mpg) so this kinda sucks.

  • @oscarjeong9438

    If you drive avg. 25000 km per year and keep it more than 10 years, 4XE Summit is better than Gasoline version overland. If you drive less than that, better get the overland, because the summit version 4XE is so expensive.

Maybe it's the 2.0t that's making up for most of the savings and not the bulky battery.
