The heavy water sabotage is one of the most told and revered war stories in Norway. Seeing how they decided to rewrite it is just extremly disrespectful to the real people involved in it. -Norwegian who will not be buying or playing the game.

The heavy water mission is somewhat disrespectful to women as well as men. Not only did they completely cut out some of the bravest men and revise their legacy, but at the same time basically said that the real exploits of women during WW2 weren't worth their time.
Okay, good point. Not disrespectful at all to the men who actually risked their lives and died on the mission... There is a huge difference between a generic fictional story about WW2 and something this specific.

And the COUNTLESS well known female heroines of WW 2 like the chick who demanded a T-34 to go fight the nazis after they killed her husband, or Aleksandra Kovshov (sp?) the spy who was one of the most feared by the nazis in the entire war... or the french/polish resistance fighters who helped smuggle people across the border into sweden... there's SO MANY stories they could have and SHOULD HAVE told, but for whatever reason, they decided they weren't important enough to be worth their time. The way they went about it was literally the worst way they could have, and disrespected both the men AND women of WW2. Such idiots.
A Female Polish Sniper would have been the BEST war story and they could have used her as the box art. Poland gets looked over in a lot of media about the war (minus the Holocaust). Nobody would have complained about that.
I'm a Pole and you know... for DICE, world war 2 has started probably somewhere in 1940. Even Chamberlain's speech has been shortened, because originally the reason of the declaration was the german invasion on Poland. Game industry is trying really hard to conceal the fact of how WW2 has started and what Poland even is. That is just sad, can't say more.
True but the war story is connected with the multiplayer maps remember. If that was a war story they would've had to base maps in Poland, and no British troops ever invaded Poland, so they would've had to include the Soviets.
I agree that you have a great idea which is better than the one EA used but the basement-Nazis totally would have complained about it. The "historical accuracy" thing is just a smokescreen. They complained about the presence of a woman who was obviously a resistance fighter NOT a regular soldier in the multiplayer trailer. I can still remember when the same shrill neckbeards were complaining about the inclusion of the Harlem Hellfighters in BF1.

One of the memorable moments in CoD4:MW was the sniper mission. It was so intense. Dice could've done something like that with Russian female snipers. I could only imagine how good it would've been. Sad. They done goofed. BF3 has some intense moments. Also the thing about his daughter asking why about the outage and crying. It's rated M for mature. She's not even close to the age for the rating. He clearly taught her about violence. Teach her about history.

Aim up really high to arc and they still go down in 1 knife... so dumb but made the stealthing easy in certain parts xD
The Norway War story was such a minor aspect of the actual issues, though. I really wish people wouldn't focus on stuff like this. The Games as a Live Service model and EA's micro-transactions are front and center the primary issues we should be focusing on the most.

There are a lot of fictional stories that take place during real wars (Save Private Rian for example) but that's not a bad thing. Taking real stories and changing them to make them more "entertaining" is bad thing because it's bit too close to historical revisionism.

Replacing the real people with fictional women purely due to politics was disrespectful and is an awful and dangerous thing to do. There are many stories of women that can be used to show their involvement in WWII, fictional and non-fictional, like Lyudmila Pavlichenko ("Lady Death", Sniper, 309 kills), Virginia Hall (Spy), Lydia Litvyak ("White Rose of Stalingrad", pilot), and Mariya Oktyabrskaya (who after her husband was killed, sold everything to donate a tank to the Soviet army, demanded she be the one to drive it, and gave her life killing Nazis for what they'd done). It'd be no harder to find and research these stories than find the story they used and disrespectfully replace the men involved. You don't have Martha Washington crossing the Delaware in Battlefield: American Revolution to educate all the "uneducated". Then it just becomes history-revising, agenda-driven propaganda rather than showing audiences overlooked stories and the roles of overlooked people.

It really does surprise me that they passed up so many good real life WWII stories involving women and chose to make up shit instead, I think it's another sign of how they rushed DICE. Especially Mariya Oktyabrskaya, the first time I ever heard of her I literally ended up making a falllout 4 power armor character based off of her because her story is so badass.

That was a worthy follow up to the AC-130 mission from Cod4. they try to recreate it again and again, but nothing will ever be as good as the original AC-130 and The Blackcat. Both are just dripping with atmosphere and feel epic in a grounded way. And like one of the other comments mentioned, the soundtrack for the Blackcat mission was great.
Cod WAW taught me that life weren't no rainbow fueled joy ride as a kid. Honestly one of the most impactful games I've played just from a learning standpoint.

My grandmother was a dispatch runner and a medic during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, just like thousands of other girls. Good story, no? I'm seriously tired of ignorance towards Polish involvement in the war. There were the three original allies: France, Poland and UK. Poland was the first to fight against Nazi Germany and was than back-stabbed by Germany's allies (then) Soviet Union. There are literally thousands of untold stories of Polish woman and men who were, at the end of the war, not even allowed to celebrate at the Victory Parade.

Poland refused Stalin's proposal for an anti Hitler coalition saying it won't let Soviet troops into Poland even if Hitler attacks. So USSR signed non aggression pact with Germany. I can't see what other logical option anyone would have taken?

I believe the reason the black colonial troops were not paid their pensions had to do with the country in question becoming free of French influence. France reasoned that if it were no longer a French territory, they didn't owe them anything. It's also argued that the these troops didn't want to fight in France, because they were not allowed to loot and take women as spoils of war which is their custom in Africa. That's all here-say though. The British commandos story was also inaccurate, since it's well documented that its members were volunteers from the royal marines and not convicts.

Joe, french here, we stopped the pension program for most of the african veterans because their country wanted their independance, it's the fault of their governments for not including this in their independance deal back then !

France had been demolished and ransacked by occupation and war. Mad Max Not really, the immediate payment came in the form of their county getting its independence. The French had no obligation to humor the idea but they did obviously in part of what the 200,000 colonial Troops contributed to. I think that’s a pretty dam good reward for their efforts. These guys now are remembered as the foundational backbone to the next chapter in their countries history. Again some of them still got paid but they also got the establishment of their own independent national identity to boot. I don’t see that as something requiring grabbing your pitchforks and torches over.

Thanks for doing this extended review. I have played around 50 hours so far and agree with every point you make except for the story because I haven't played it yet and cannot say how it is and the maps because I actually enjoy every single one still. But that is of course highly subjective. Also this 50% sale has upset me because they specifically market it like "the true fans get 50% off". NO EA the true fans have already bought the game and are now being treated like 2nd class.

Half Norwegian here, but yes, I completely agree. I didn't even KNOW about this event until I played the mission for the first time. Then I looked up the real history after I beat the campaign. Suffice it to say, I was shocked, disgusted, and disappointed. At least Joe understands now that this was NEVER about women, but the blatant revisionism that EA took part in to cater to SJWs who likely never even bothered to play the game anyway.

In Japan there is also a revisionist movement growing that white washes the events of WW2 from their own perspective, that ignores the atrocities and genocides committed by Imperial Japanese forces and portrays Japan as a victim of Western brutality. In Soviet Russia they also revised history to write out the atrocities committed by the red army and also leave out details about the crucial help they received from the western allies in terms of resources and equipment that was necessary for them to win the war. Russian tanks were driving into Berlin in 1945 that were made with steel imported from the US and UK, running on diesel imported from America and using ammunition built with raw materials that were delivered by the convoys of merchant ships from the west that had to brave the ice cold north Atlantic sea amidst a maze of German U-boats. Hardly a word about that in Russian text books. So one has to ask why the staff at Dice studios felt the need to do as these aforementioned dishonest actors and revise history in order to fit their own world view and their own narrative. Game comes out with tons of issues and lacking content and then throw you crap that should already be in the game from Day 1 and treat us like suckers. Don't fall for it. Even with this update it's still lacking for a $60 release that relies heavily on multiplayer. I do agree with Joe though, at half off I think its about what the game is actually worth at release. Anyone who bought this game has paid for nearly half a game and over the next year or two they'll be working towards finishing the game you paid for years ago. Most of everyone won't even get to see it because they'll likely give up waiting for decent content.
I actually like the buddy revive system. Promotes sticking with your squad. And in conquest, fortifications are pointless and i also find conquest boring and unrealistic and has lots of roaming in it. Doesn't feel like war. In other gamemodes (like my fav mode breakthrough) where the game feels like a warfront and most of grand operations are the same way too. Fortifications like sandbags, stationary guns, roadblocks and barbwire fences actually change up the routes of the attacking team and gives you cover where there is none originally
Tucker Brown Personally I don’t find the attachments a huge deal, my issue is with some of the guns such as the lmgs in BFV. Christ sake you can slap on a sniper scope and lay waste to every class such as the KE7. I’m probably the only one but the stg still needs some work and medic class in general. As for the building, yeah it’s pointlesss since everything can be destroyed by a grenade

I've been playing battlefield games on and off since 1942, and I'm glad I took some time off from the series. The gameplay still looks fun, but it's just not for me. Great points guys!
On the same boat as you and decided to skip this one. I have owned almost every single Battlefield (skipped Hardline) out in PC with expansions/season pass since the series started. All pre-ordered or bought around launch at full price.

I miss Battlefield 3 i had so much fun in that game. I know it is still around and i still play it to this day, i just miss it being THE Battlefield game where it was the one everyone played and every server was filled up 64 players, nowadays only a few dedicated servers have 64 players :(

I would recommend "Rising Storm 2: Vietnam". More traditional Battlefield-like battles with Arma-style realism mixed in. Clunkier than recent CoD and Bf, but I would say the immersion is well worth it. Check out some gameplay footage if that sounded interesting.
Same here, I recently bought myself a ps4 to play some of the exclusives like The Last of Us, God of War, Detroit become Human ect. More story based single player games. For the first time in like 3 years I'm actually enjoying gaming again, while not feeling like I'm getting robbed every time I buy a game broken up into 5 season passes.
Why is it always Europe and the Nazi's? Why can't we get another game in the Pacific Theater? Think of it, huge naval battles, dogfights, beach landings/island defense. Show the Navy/USMC and the Japanese some love....

Japan had it at ranked 2 and the UK ranked 4 in physical sales alone. That’s really impressive considering that they mainly emphasize their digital sales then physical. Well, maybe "tanking" wasnt the right choice of words, english isnt my main language and i tend to use weird words sometimes. But a lot of big titles the last couple years have caused a ton of fan backlash for various reasons. Now obviously there are so many games released each year, and some titles *sell* well even if they're not *received* well by fans, that these big "publicity flops" will always be a minority any way you look at it, but it seems like almost every AAA studio have managed to make some sort of big mess up with their big titles these last few years.
The French one is not accurate in the depiction of the treatment of black colonial forces. Logistical work is not degrading, it is a reprieve from battle, and tons of white people did it. Africans fought alongside the French, not as a separate class, and the French officers cared for them. The SS (not standard Wermacht) on a few occasions, selectively killed Africans, but those instances are few, and many French officers were killed in their attempt to defend them. Most Africans received standard Western-POW treatment when captured by Germans. Basically, the entirety of the story believes all of the extreme propaganda and distortion of facts that happened when the National French government refused to pay for the French Empire's colonial pensions. But I like that they told the colonial infantry's story.
This. The French one is as disrespectful as the Norwegian one. The act they are displaying never happened. The Tirailleurs were never excluded from combat or anything else and the only reason they weren't at the liberation was that they were fighting in the south at the same time. Although the AMERICANS did command the French to exclude their black people from the Paris liberation parade. And finally, the pension thing is only something that happened way later because their countries become independent.
Exactly, Personally, I'm French and my great-grandfather fought in North Africa and Italy, and he certainly was not behind because he was wounded in action. There was a spirit of revenge among the French soldiers for the most part, they could not stay behind. Afterwards, there was certainly a lack of elite recognition for these African soldiers. And it's unfortunate because they were important, but it was political first and foremost.

It's a shame, a fucking tragedy to be honest, the guts of BFV is great imo, it feels good, looks beautiful, even on low settings, runs really well and with some more tweaking and balancing it's shaping up to be a very playable game. The downside is pretty much everything mentioned here though, from the re-writing of history to the fractured and missing content. They should have given us the shitty practice range to mess about on until they had the chance to bring it all together in a more coherent package and maybe even straighten out the bullshit storylines in the sp campaign. I would have gladly kept on playing BF1 for another year while they sorted out what was wrong.

They were German soldiers experiencing the same war and the same horrors that the Americans and the Russians and the British faced. Young and scared teenagers forced to fight in a war. There were good men that fought and died for the Germans. Good men that are outshined by the sins of the SS, which is not fair to them.

Well its not defined what the whole game is by default, also tons of games have updates over time with new content and that doesnt mean they didnt give you what you paid for. The actual problem here is that its quite flawed in gameplay, spawn locations a classes are completely unbalanced, weapon types are as well. That I do consider it a completely unfinished game because it wasnt properly tested (in today's era where anyone would test games for free at any given time... just awful.)

Eh... problem wit RO2 and games like SQUAD or even Post Scriptum is that it is very Squad based, too much so. I mean it has its momments when you have a competiant commander, but sometimes its also nice to just play freely. With those games I feel somewhat pressured to play as the Squad Leader wants. I found Battlefield had a nice balance, where it rewards you for squad gameplay, but it also has room for just going solo. I liked that about the BF games anyways, not bashing on RO2 or Squad etc. But to me it feels like allot of effort to play those games, its not a casual gaming session most of the time. Its hard core, if you want to win that is.

Most of the people are just bringing up the inaccuracies tied to the presence of women, rather than the other innaccurances and issues like the "criminal" commando unit etc. That focus alone reveals people are just looking for excuses. The french campaign was the worst one. Had they done the exact same story with american black men it would be accurate. But the french colonial men weren’t treated like that at all. Disgusting of DICE to force in racism in history where it wasn’t nearly that bad. They should instead celebrate the comradery there was between colonial and native french men. But that doesn’t fit their narrative so it’s scrapped for this disgusting historical revisionism.

Her name was Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko, And even tho she was credited for killing 309 enemies, she was NOT the deadliest sniper during WW2. That honor goes to a Finnish man named Simo Häyhä who had over 500 confirmed sniper kills, and around 200 with an machinegun. During just 1 day of Battle he had 25 confirmed kills, IN ONE DAY. And during the whole winter war which took place during WW2 between Finland and The Soviet Union, he did this mind you, WITHOUT A SCOPE. Only using his ironsight and white winter camo which led the soviets to nickname him, The White Death. He even took an explosive bullet to the jaw and SURVIVED. And lived passed the millenia and died at the age of 96.

MrDuck nah dice can fuck themselves too. They have made horrible decisions in their last three games (battlefront 1, 2, and battlefield 5) which has tarnished those very same games. Dice has lost the spotlight of gaming in my opinion and their games have been piss poor in these recent years.
One of my biggest problems with it is how there is only 2 country's to play as cause it just makes it so boring in my opinion. The thing I loved about bf1 was that there was so many country's so every map was something different and exciting

I don't know really, i have nothing against em but i sure hope they wont replace good old Angry Reviews with all the sketches, costumes, crazy characters and above all, rants. Vlogs are just nowhere near effective at keeping people's attention for almost an hour.

See many of us who have been hating on Ea foresaw this kind of thing happening. My problem with the game is they kept talking about how historically accurate and realistic but kept doing shoddy work at it. Like I, and many others, am fine with women in online and stories but please when you say it is historically accurate please just do it right. Have women with French revolution or the Russians. See when I seen this at first I wrote it off but I finally realized that it is either shoddy work or just an agenda. Either way I am happy you have grown and learned from this experience. Also to harp on the French thing. Ninety percent of the French didn't treat Africans poorly. Hell during the Great War the African Americans who we sent to help the French were shocked at how well the French seen them. When it comes to the liberation of France or Paris the U.S. stated that the French should replace their Black men with other men. So, that is on the U.S. not the French, in fact the president wanted them to help liberate France. He also wanted to make sure they got honored for their service. I agree that they did make a mistake in cancelling their pensions. They received their pensions until the 60's when their countries became independent and thus the French cancelled their pensions. I kinda get it but it is shitty either way and shouldn't have been done at all. Lastly, I do agree some French would have been racist, I mean there are always racists in different groups unfortunately. Sorry for the wall of text but my man you earned a bunch of respect from me for being a good human being and admitting when you were wrong. I love to see people learn and grow, much love to you and hope everything is going well.
Fun fact, the Lend Lease Act (1940 or 41) allowed the US to send arms and equipment to the UK to aid the war. So AT LEAST the Thompson and the BAR were in service somewhere during this time. So its complete BS on why its not in the game; furthermore, its an excuse for EA to keep players pulled in and to keep playing

It was a norwegian commando unit, with training from England, and orders from British military and the norwegian king (who escaped to England). So you might call it a british unit, but it was norwegian soldiers.

And the COUNTLESS well known female heroines of WW 2 like the chick who demanded a T-34 to go fight the nazis after they killed her husband, or Aleksandra Kovshov (sp?) the spy who was one of the most feared by the nazis in the entire war... or the french/polish resistance fighters who helped smuggle people across the border into sweden... there's SO MANY stories they could have and SHOULD HAVE told, but for whatever reason, they decided they weren't important enough to be worth their time. The way they went about it was literally the worst way they could have, and disrespected both the men AND women of WW2. Such idiots.

I'm a Pole and you know... for DICE, world war 2 has started probably somewhere in 1940. Even Chamberlain's speech has been shortened, because originally the reason of the declaration was the german invasion on Poland. Game industry is trying really hard to conceal the fact of how WW2 has started and what Poland even is. That is just sad, can't say more.
True but the war story is connected with the multiplayer maps remember. If that was a war story they would've had to base maps in Poland, and no British troops ever invaded Poland, so they would've had to include the Soviets.
I agree that you have a great idea which is better than the one EA used but the basement-Nazis totally would have complained about it. The "historical accuracy" thing is just a smokescreen. They complained about the presence of a woman who was obviously a resistance fighter NOT a regular soldier in the multiplayer trailer. I can still remember when the same shrill neckbeards were complaining about the inclusion of the Harlem Hellfighters in BF1.

One of the memorable moments in CoD4:MW was the sniper mission. It was so intense. Dice could've done something like that with Russian female snipers. I could only imagine how good it would've been. Sad. They done goofed. BF3 has some intense moments.

i did it without firing a shot lmao... it was easier to land throwing knives on the tower searchlight guys than risk them not dying in 1hit with the silenced pistol (which takes 2 fucking headshots even point blank) so i just snuck around the entire facility throwing knifing people from miles away lol. Aim up really high to arc and they still go down in 1 knife... so dumb but made the stealthing easy in certain parts xD

The Norway War story was such a minor aspect of the actual issues, though. I really wish people wouldn't focus on stuff like this. The Games as a Live Service model and EA's micro-transactions are front and center the primary issues we should be focusing on the most.

Every time I see someone making the accusation that EA/DICE engaged in false advertisement by claiming Battlefield V was aiming to be historically accurate, I always ask them to provide evidence. And EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. NO ONE ever fucking produces said evidence. One idiot gave me a link to a reddit page where after wasting my time reading through the shit all I found was a debate over whether or not it should be historically authentic. That's it.
Unless the come out and say "we're trying to create something that is historically accurate" then no, NO ONE should be bitching about it. That's the whole Feelz over Realz thing. People "feel" the game should be historically authentic but the reality is its a game which never claimed to be such. Its a work of fiction. There are a lot of fictional stories that take place during real wars (Save Private Rian for example) but that's not a bad thing. Taking real stories and changing them to make them more "entertaining" is bad thing because it's bit too close to historical revisionism.
Its crazy to think if they had just made a band of brothers/saving private Ryan ww2 game based off the big notorious battles they would be raking in money with possibly the most sold bf in franchise history. Instead they made a game that nobody asked for or wanted...it amazes me how these people still have jobs.

Replacing the real people with fictional women purely due to politics was disrespectful and is an awful and dangerous thing to do. There are many stories of women that can be used to show their involvement in WWII, fictional and non-fictional, like Lyudmila Pavlichenko ("Lady Death", Sniper, 309 kills), Virginia Hall (Spy), Lydia Litvyak ("White Rose of Stalingrad", pilot), and Mariya Oktyabrskaya (who after her husband was killed, sold everything to donate a tank to the Soviet army, demanded she be the one to drive it, and gave her life killing Nazis for what they'd done). It'd be no harder to find and research these stories than find the story they used and disrespectfully replace the men involved. You don't have Martha Washington crossing the Delaware in Battlefield: American Revolution to educate all the "uneducated". Then it just becomes history-revising, agenda-driven propaganda rather than showing audiences overlooked stories and the roles of overlooked people.
Not really dangerous. It's still a videogame, not a history book. It's no different than making a movie. It would be cool to have the real stories, but it's not disrespectful to not include them either.

It really does surprise me that they passed up so many good real life WWII stories involving women and chose to make up shit instead, I think it's another sign of how they rushed DICE. Especially Mariya Oktyabrskaya, the first time I ever heard of her I literally ended up making a falllout 4 power armor character based off of her because her story is so badass.

That was a worthy follow up to the AC-130 mission from Cod4. they try to recreate it again and again, but nothing will ever be as good as the original AC-130 and The Blackcat. Both are just dripping with atmosphere and feel epic in a grounded way. And like one of the other comments mentioned, the soundtrack for the Blackcat mission was great.
Cod WAW taught me that life weren't no rainbow fueled joy ride as a kid. Honestly one of the most impactful games I've played just from a learning standpoint.

I'm seriously tired of ignorance towards Polish involvement in the war. There were the three original allies: France, Poland and UK. Poland was the first to fight against Nazi Germany and was than back-stabbed by Germany's allies (then) Soviet Union. There are literally thousands of untold stories of Polish woman and men who were, at the end of the war, not even allowed to celebrate at the Victory Parade.
If German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact (1939) is the alliance for you, then tell me about German-Polish Non-Agression Pact in 1934? Oops, poor Poland was Germany's ally as well? And what about innocent Poland, which alongside with Germany invaded Czechoslovakia in 1938 (Munich Agreement)? So who was the real friend of Nazis before WW2?

I believe the reason the black colonial troops were not paid their pensions had to do with the country in question becoming free of French influence. France reasoned that if it were no longer a French territory, they didn't owe them anything. It's also argued that the these troops didn't want to fight in France, because they were not allowed to loot and take women as spoils of war which is their custom in Africa. That's all here-say though.
The British commandos story was also inaccurate, since it's well documented that its members were volunteers from the royal marines and not convicts.

Joe, french here, we stopped the pension program for most of the african veterans because their country wanted their independance, it's the fault of their governments for not including this in their independance deal back then !

The French had no obligation to humor the idea but they did obviously in part of what the 200,000 colonial Troops contributed to. I think that’s a pretty dam good reward for their efforts. These guys now are remembered as the foundational backbone to the next chapter in their countries history. Again some of them still got paid but they also got the establishment of their own independent national identity to boot. I don’t see that as something requiring grabbing your pitchforks and torches over.

Thanks for doing this extended review. I have played around 50 hours so far and agree with every point you make except for the story because I haven't played it yet and cannot say how it is and the maps because I actually enjoy every single one still. But that is of course highly subjective. Also this 50% sale has upset me because they specifically market it like "the true fans get 50% off". NO EA the true fans have already bought the game and are now being treated like 2nd class.

Half Norwegian here, but yes, I completely agree. I didn't even KNOW about this event until I played the mission for the first time. Then I looked up the real history after I beat the campaign. Suffice it to say, I was shocked, disgusted, and disappointed.

I actually like the buddy revive system. Promotes sticking with your squad. And in conquest, fortifications are pointless and i also find conquest boring and unrealistic and has lots of roaming in it. Doesn't feel like war. In other gamemodes (like my fav mode breakthrough) where the game feels like a warfront and most of grand operations are the same way too. Fortifications like sandbags, stationary guns, roadblocks and barbwire fences actually change up the routes of the attacking team and gives you cover where there is none originally

Christ sake you can slap on a sniper scope and lay waste to every class such as the KE7. I’m probably the only one but the stg still needs some work and medic class in general.

I would recommend "Rising Storm 2: Vietnam". More traditional Battlefield-like battles with Arma-style realism mixed in. Clunkier than recent CoD and Bf, but I would say the immersion is well worth it. Check out some gameplay footage if that sounded interesting.

Well, maybe "tanking" wasnt the right choice of words, english isnt my main language and i tend to use weird words sometimes.
But a lot of big titles the last couple years have caused a ton of fan backlash for various reasons. Now obviously there are so many games released each year, and some titles *sell* well even if they're not *received* well by fans, that these big "publicity flops" will always be a minority any way you look at it, but it seems like almost every AAA studio have managed to make some sort of big mess up with their big titles these last few years.
The French one is not accurate in the depiction of the treatment of black colonial forces. Logistical work is not degrading, it is a reprieve from battle, and tons of white people did it. Africans fought alongside the French, not as a separate class, and the French officers cared for them. The SS (not standard Wermacht) on a few occasions, selectively killed Africans, but those instances are few, and many French officers were killed in their attempt to defend them. Most Africans received standard Western-POW treatment when captured by Germans. Basically, the entirety of the story believes all of the extreme propaganda and distortion of facts that happened when the National French government refused to pay for the French Empire's colonial pensions. But I like that they told the colonial infantry's story.

The Tirailleurs were never excluded from combat or anything else and the only reason they weren't at the liberation was that they were fighting in the south at the same time. And finally, the pension thing is only something that happened way later because their countries become independent.

It's a shame, a fucking tragedy to be honest, the guts of BFV is great imo, it feels good, looks beautiful, even on low settings, runs really well and with some more tweaking and balancing it's shaping up to be a very playable game. The downside is pretty much everything mentioned here though, from the re-writing of history to the fractured and missing content. They should have given us the shitty practice range to mess about on until they had the chance to bring it all together in a more coherent package and maybe even straighten out the bullshit storylines in the sp campaign. I would have gladly kept on playing BF1 for another year while they sorted out what was wrong.

They are just abusing the gamers now. Really... you don't get the complete game... you got to pay full monte and they'll deliver the rest after you've PAID? So what if you don't like the rest of the game when it's released? Basically, they're using your money to finish their game and it will be outside of the time you can get a refund if you don't like it. I won't buy an incomplete game at day-zero prices. It just doesn't make sense to pay the most for the least amount of game. It doesn't make sense to pre-order either. Well its not defined what the whole game is by default, also tons of games have updates over time with new content and that doesnt mean they didnt give you what you paid for.
The actual problem here is that its quite flawed in gameplay, spawn locations a classes are completely unbalanced, weapon types are as well. That I do consider it a completely unfinished game because it wasnt properly tested (in today's era where anyone would test games for free at any given time... just awful.)

Eh... problem wit RO2 and games like SQUAD or even Post Scriptum is that it is very Squad based, too much so.
I mean it has its momments when you have a competiant commander, but sometimes its also nice to just play freely. With those games I feel somewhat pressured to play as the Squad Leader wants.
I found Battlefield had a nice balance, where it rewards you for squad gameplay, but it also has room for just going solo.
I liked that about the BF games anyways, not bashing on RO2 or Squad etc. But to me it feels like allot of effort to play those games, its not a casual gaming session most of the time.
Its hard core, if you want to win that is.

Most of the people are just bringing up the inaccuracies tied to the presence of women, rather than the other innaccurances and issues like the "criminal" commando unit etc. That focus alone reveals people are just looking for excuses.
Which is bad enough given the real issue hurting everything are the business practices damaging game development and interfering with the creative and technical process.
The french campaign was the worst one. Had they done the exact same story with american black men it would be accurate. But the french colonial men weren’t treated like that at all. Disgusting of DICE to force in racism in history where it wasn’t nearly that bad.
They should instead celebrate the comradery there was between colonial and native french men. But that doesn’t fit their narrative so it’s scrapped for this disgusting historical revisionism.
they thought they'd need to tell a story with black soldiers in europe. so they chose the least important battle in all WW2.... southern france. where nothing of strategic value happened....but hey, got black soldiers. thats all we wanted to see right?...........

And during the whole winter war which took place during WW2 between Finland and The Soviet Union, he did this mind you, WITHOUT A SCOPE. Only using his ironsight and white winter camo which led the soviets to nickname him, The White Death. He even took an explosive bullet to the jaw and SURVIVED. And lived passed the millenia and died at the age of 96.

MrDuck nah dice can fuck themselves too. They have made horrible decisions in their last three games (battlefront 1, 2, and battlefield 5) which has tarnished those very same games.

One of my biggest problems with it is how there is only 2 country's to play as cause it just makes it so boring in my opinion. The thing I loved about bf1 was that there was so many country's so every map was something different and exciting

See many of us who have been hating on Ea foresaw this kind of thing happening. My problem with the game is they kept talking about how historically accurate and realistic but kept doing shoddy work at it. Like I, and many others, am fine with women in online and stories but please when you say it is historically accurate please just do it right. Have women with French revolution or the Russians. See when I seen this at first I wrote it off but I finally realized that it is either shoddy work or just an agenda. Either way I am happy you have grown and learned from this experience. Also to harp on the French thing. Ninety percent of the French didn't treat Africans poorly. Hell during the Great War the African Americans who we sent to help the French were shocked at how well the French seen them. When it comes to the liberation of France or Paris the U.S. stated that the French should replace their Black men with other men. So, that is on the U.S. not the French, in fact the president wanted them to help liberate France. He also wanted to make sure they got honored for their service. I agree that they did make a mistake in cancelling their pensions. They received their pensions until the 60's when their countries became independent and thus the French cancelled their pensions. I kinda get it but it is shitty either way and shouldn't have been done at all. Lastly, I do agree some French would have been racist, I mean there are always racists in different groups unfortunately. Sorry for the wall of text but my man you earned a bunch of respect from me for being a good human being and admitting when you were wrong. I love to see people learn and grow, much love to you and hope everything is going well.

Fun fact, the Lend Lease Act (1940 or 41) allowed the US to send arms and equipment to the UK to aid the war. So AT LEAST the Thompson and the BAR were in service somewhere during this time. So its complete BS on why its not in the game; furthermore, its an excuse for EA to keep players pulled in and to keep playing

It was a norwegian commando unit, with training from England, and orders from British military and the norwegian king (who escaped to England). So you might call it a british unit, but it was norwegian soldiers.
