I made this nearly three years ago as i found it hard to find maternity clothing that I looked and felt comfortable in. Pulled it out of my drawer today. Jumped back onto here just to say a huge thank you for sharing this tutorial. Will have to make another one soon
Wow how funny! I found this on Pinterest while looking for some typical sewing patterns that I can remake to fit my 8 month pregnancy belly and I found one that is shown on you - also 8 months pregnant! Well, that's a sign! Time for sewing 🪡❤️
Thank you for the lovely pattern. I really enjoyed sewing it until I reached the part where I had to feed the elastic into the casing. It wasn't clear what seam allowance I needed for the casing so I just went for 1 cm. It was such a squash to fit in the elastic and tie therefore I think a 2 cm seam allowance would have been better. In the end, I had to make several changes to the garment but it may have been my incorrect measurements. I'm not a confident seamstress yet. I enjoyed the project though.
Its a great idea and an easy enough pattern, although I had to adjust the measurements for myself as they didn't coordinate with the pattern measurements i.e. the top of the skirt I made slightly bigger to give me more gather and so had to reduce the x measurements to make it fit into the waist section
Question from a new sewer! Is the measurement of A (under the bustline) all the way around the body? I’m guessing yes because that’s why A will need to be divided by 2 later. Am I correct?
Such a cute dress and a great tutorial. I love that fabric. However, there is no such measurement as 5th inches (as far as I'm aware, lol). I think you meant 8th of the inches, instead of 5th's. Inch measurement go up in quarters of an inch, 8th of inches, 16th of inches, etc., as far as I'm aware. Just in case anyone gets confused. Lee xx
+Crafty Loops They're trying to use a blend of US units with metric. Yes there are such measurements as 1/5th" increments, but not generally for sewing. Unit conversions are approx. 2.5cm equals one inch.
+Essence of Me Nothing like this tutorial fabric that has a definite pattern to it and if the pattern is not aligned where seams join, it looks sloppy and unprofessional [such as at 5:14 minutes]; it's often called "matching plaids" even if the pattern is not technically a plaid. Either start with a solid, or a small, random all-over print that the pattern does not have to be matched where joined.
+Essence of Me Safe Pet discussed her beef concerning prints. But, to answer your question, drapey or silkey fabrics would be great. Nothing heavy or stiff like denim. Knits might work but I think this is meant for woven material.

I'm so disappointed... She didn't explain that the skirt pieces needed to be cut double. Just wasted a lot of time and fabric on this. The instructions said A/2 and that's incorrect. Now I realize the comments are fake, no one could make this dress because the skirt pattern as per the instructions are wrong.
It clearly shows 2 pieces, and says A/2 x 1.4. So if your underbust is 32, 32/2=16, then 16x1.4=22.4, then you add the seam allowances. I know tape measures don't show in decimals but for a garment like this that isn't super fitted you can probably just go with the closest 1/4" increment to make life easier.
@@dreamsicle1023 You add the seam allowances no matter your size and maybe extra in case you have to expand or pull in the dress seams later on. And how do I know which fabric is scrap fabric?

hello this is. sonia i want to make a sexy dress to wear to to a party something with sleeve
Gostei
When you measure the bust, do you measure underneath or over the bust?
Hi , if I wanna do longer sleeve , I should cut the rectangle longer ?
Thanks 🙏🏻 for
what do you mean with (A/2)*1.4? 2 pcs of A or A divided by 2?
Is it necessary to add the waist tie?
How many yards to make this?
You have all the measurements in the video, just add them all together and you'll have your answer.
in the beginning your voice in the video says "multiply A times 1.4" but I am confuse because I see A/2, meaning A divided by 2 times 1.4?
yes i have the same problem
+Bäumchen A/2 means half of A multiplied by 1.4, hope that helps
plzzz teach me different types of front twist dresses... Plzzzzz...
Shai Nasir mbjj
I’m confused about the overlap of the shirt
I'm a new sewer, what type of fabric would you suggest for this dress? Thank you!

+Essence of Me Yes cotton if it isn't stiff. You want it to drape well.
+Candace B Okay. Thanks.

She did though. "You'll need to cut 2 of these skirts"
She even said to do a mock up so you don't waste your nice fabric.

She did say that it needs to be cut double, front and back to be the same...rewatch the tutorial
