So I've been looking for reviews for Asus laptops and I chanced upon yours. Honestly, most of your complaints about this laptop are only your aesthetic preferences and certainly not anything "wrong" with the laptop.
1. You talked about the red colored Esc button that makes you think it's the power button. Now if you have been using laptops AT ALL, you should know that no laptop (not from any brand) has the power button on the upper left corner. So I don't know why you would even think of the possibility that the power button is there. This would definitely not be a problem for most others. In terms of why the Esc is red and not the Delete button, it's just your own preference. Both Esc and Delete mean "going back" that the color red is usually thought to suggest. It doesn't bother anyone which one they color as red.
2. In terms of why they put what you call the "crime scene" lines on the Enter button, it's not a crime scene. It is their brand logo. I don't know why anyone would go through an ethical dilemma before they press the Enter button, but honestly, most proficient laptop users (like you who edit videos) do not look at the keyboard when they type. They type based on muscle memory. You certainly do not need to look at the artwork on the keyboard to know where the Enter button is (and have a moral struggle).
3. You asked why the camera and mic buttons have LED indicators and the mute button doesn't. Well, that is because you do not need any LED indicators to know whether or not you have your sound off! If you hear no sound when there should be sound, that means you have the mute on. To add an LED for what is aurally apparent is silly. The camera and mic, on the other hand, should have an LED because whether you have them on or off is something that is not for your benefit - they are for the benefit for whoever you talk to! You cannot otherwise know whether you have your camera or mic on unless they add an LED to tell you, unless you wait for the other person to tell you (which is something you want to avoid). The engineers applied these designs perfectly logically.
4. You complained that the laptop is slow. I do not know whether you had the performance mode on or whether you have your graphics card on (based on the fact that you do not even know there is customization on the virtual dial, I guess you didn't). If you are a pro, you should know that how fast you edit/render videos does not depend on your CPU power, but on your GPU power. And you should also know that no one can expect low fan speed and great performance at the same time. They have to come together, and it's not news. Also, once again, yes, the dial is CUSTOMIZABLE. They can have more features than adjusting your volume and brightness.
5. You asked why they put the power charge LED on the side instead of above the keyboard. Well, that is because most people charge their laptop when it's closed! No one leaves their laptops in charge mode with the screen wide open - you would only be collecting dust in the keyboard. It's always better to see the LED indicators from an angle than not see it at all, right?
The only viable comment you have for this laptop is that they could've added more USB-C. One is indeed on the scarce side for content creators. That being said, no windows laptops, not even those for content creation, have more than 3 USB-C. They mostly have 2. To claim to have "at least" 3 is insane, if you know the laptop industry at all. Overall, I find your review hugely misleading. Just because you would've loved another design doesn't mean the laptop is wrong, not to mention that some of your reasons are not reasonable at all. Most importantly, you do not seem to have explored your laptop enough before giving your complaints (the dial is customizable). Please be more responsible.
i dont think this dude has ever seen laptops.
my old asus laptop, A series notebook power button is on upper left side...
I absolutely agree! It's the DUMBEST laptop review I ever seen. And it's definetely the FIRST laptop this guy ever use.
I agree with most of your comments, however, you should have tried to give your points with less contempt and anger. Being positive and constructive is always more convincing. And we have to respect the work of others even if they make some mistakes or could do better. Obviously this is a subjective review not a scientific presentation that will be published... so let's calm down :-) Cheers
@@denisdumaine I don’t think it was angry, you don’t have to sugarcoat everything in “positivity” if it’s not positive. The point is either valid or not and the delivery of this comment would be judged more accurately if it were made irl, but since it’s in writing it could be said in multiple ways with the same content.
Physical webcam shutter is to prevent hackers from seeing you.
Trust i dont mind having both. I want both
This is good for people with ocd as well. And now he acts like he doesnt have it.
imagine being his girlfriend 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂🤣
Be realistic, there won’t be such dilemmas
why you have 2 boobs instead of 3???
Chimpanzees work at Asus. Didn't you know that.... 😆😆
This might be the first ever laptop you got. I see no point the major issue except the loud fan noise which is every laptop problem. Go for I7 12th and 3060 if you want better performance.
Hi
This laptop has loud fan noise as compared to other laptops?
Hi this laptop' s fan produce more noise as compared to others?
If I use this laptop only for study then it will produce any noise?
Thank you.
@@WildGlimpse00 As long as you study and not gaming it won’t hit more than 45dB. Normal office sound should be 50 - 60 dB already (measure with Apple Watch).
8:42 The grandmother comment made me crack up! 😂. Thanks for the great video!
Haha same 😂
All valid complaints. But my question is why did you buy this laptop without researching these things properly in the first place?
Because... to put it nicely... he might be a dumbass. 🤣
No one talks about these. You go to tech channels, most people talk about performance, maybe hinge, and sometimes about batteries and ports. I have never seen people talk about keyboard design layouts and imo it wouldn't be something that people will think of before purchasing online.
If understand him well, he's helping those interested buyers (fans) to pay attention to things that no one would think about in the first place. Revisit his complaints about the Num lock, and enter key! Up to now I've known why Nokia slides upwards/downwards to receive/reject calls. I keep accidentally rejecting calls as I pull my phone out of the pocket.
@Amrik Hore He could have gone to a physical store and checked it out.
@@vimalramachandran you are right about that
I love this video ahah
I was afraid when I saw the title because I already bought it
But I can live with those)
A perfectionist... that leaves a Rubik's Cube unsolved?
lmao xDDDD
I think i got my answer in the serious part of this video, Thanks a lot making this usage review video. Helps a lot to make a decision quicker than those of that dozens of "content creators" videos about benchmark tests!!
I can't believe you are not bothered by the minuscule up and down arrow while left and right are normally sized
Interesting perfectionist review. I am curious, what car are you driving? I was laughing though at the hazard warning, that was funny.
I can't afford the car I like unfortunately.
@@ASMROWWhat car would you buy out of curiosity
This really helped me in buying this laptop
Not sure if it's been mentioned or if you were just joking around but the graphic on the Enter key looks like it's supposed to be one of those film clapper boards.
I seeeee
Love it, I've been dealing with same stuff and decided to return it.
The irony of the Rubik's cube is golden!
Was that intended 😂
That's amusing but also very valid, thank you
Literally the best review of a laptop! Brilliant points.
Literally the worst review of a laptop actually... I just got the Pro 16X and the most expensive version of the StudioBook ProArt 16 inch version laptop and they are by far the best two laptops I have ever used - and this is coming from someone who used MacBook Pro laptops for almost 10 years now. This so called review is useless and doesn't do the Asus laptops justice. Asus makes the best laptops on the market currently and their OLED screens are better and more color accurate than Sony and Samsung screens and Apple MacBook screens.
@@nogerboher5266 but how loud this laptop was under stress and indeed very slow!
In no way this laptop is better than the MacBook Pro.
I did contemplate the vivobook pro, but now I‘m a little bit outraged.
Caps WORST**
Love your input. My only concern is the fan noise. Gonna have to think twice about buying one now.
what laptop do you recommend with similar status rtx 3050 ryzen7 ish 16gb?
I can definittely say fan noise is not the downside of hardware itself. This laptop can be absolutely silent and cool, but its stock thermal settings are wrong and must be tweaked by power user.
@@sergeiepatov7683 undervolted it to for 8 hours, was worth it tough. Lost a day, but got 10 degrees off. Also always use a fan stand, it will help alot.
That's not hazard line.its zebra line .
they put power button there, some ppl who are used with other model thought it is delete button and proceed pressing power button thinking its delete
That's what I realy call whining on a very high level. Why not apply for a job as a product developer at Asus ? You seem to be so smart that I'm sure you'll be hired immediately. Your suggestions can definitely ensure Asus' continued existence 😂
he should, I would gladly buy laptop redesigned by him bcs for now I see only crap designed by people who don't care about logic and quality and with low expectations lol
The tiny details explained by you are awesome 👍
Thanks man
I am glad it helped.
5:33 - mos def OCD right there :)))
I am so glad I saw this video before purchasing this laptop. I like most people don't have the money to waste. So thank you for this video because that fan would have drove me crazy.
Agree with most of what you say here. Struggle to justify many of these silly designs. For e.g. I would rather have the power button red than the Esc button especially when its built into the keyboard. I have the Vivobook S 14X Oled and my biggest complaint is thermal management. Not only is the fan too loud but it comes on constantly even when the CPU load is less than 10%. Makes me miss my T440s with the i5 4210U. Quietest and coolest laptop I have used so far but sadly its not fully compatible with Win 11 which why I upgraded. I would also prefer that the charging and USBC ports be placed on the left hand side. Battery life on the Vivobook is also below average. But I love the OLED display and also the speed of the processor. Asus also includes some very useful settings on their My Asus app. Hopefully they'll address those issues in the next generation.
I get why they did it with the mic and cam. You cant see or here when they are off. You have your ears to listen if the sound is off. But for cam and mic you will never know if there wasn't a light
Is it easy to take apart to upgrade the SSD and ram? I can live with the issues you've pointed out. I would just buy it with a better CPU.
Like your grandmother came to clean with the vacuum 😮😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 this was not a laptop review, this is a Roast in disguise ❤❤❤❤😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Haha I am glad you liked it. I think it's a type of British humour.
Their controls settings in the computer that control how loud the fans are
Will you test the new 2023 version. It has 64GB RAM support, more efficient 4nm 4060 GPU (hopefully not so noisy), better cooling, full size 300 MB/s SD card reader. It seems to compete with Legion Slim 7i gen 8.
Thanks man I was planning to buy it but you make like easy!!!!
Thank you for your big experiences about this laptop. Do you still use it?
You know, what triggers my ocd? That your bloody focus is all over the freaking place!
My only issue with it is it doesn’t have an RGB backlit, it is meant as a gaming laptop because of it’s GPU.
i think the physical swtich for the camera is to protect ur laptop from being hacked
4k is heavy man. I'm not surprised.
It's 4 times as wide a screen area as an FHD one.
Unless you have core ultra and rtx4050 or better, this lag is expected
Thanks Brother .............. You are God .................
@ASMROW I think the RED 'Esc' button is a logical to prevent users from pressing it accidentally. I wonder why you would have confused it with powet button. Thats the universal position for ESC button on any keyboard.
I agree with you on not having power button in the keyboard.
It hasn’t put me off buying it but that fan sounds like a jet engine taking off 😂😂. I’m not doing any video editing or anything that is super heavy, this isn’t the laptop for that anyway
(Its very quick, screen is amazing. The colours are incredible especially if you watch 4k HDR content. Definately worth buying)
If your computer can play modern games at decent settings then you can video edit. The only thing it couldn't do easily is Pixar-level 3D rendering
@@Fr33zeBurn I dont really play intensive games, but yes I do mess around with cities skylines 💀 I use 4k textures and it hasnt lagged once. It does have a loud fan and gets hot though, you feel it more because its metal
So would this be okay for Photoshop?
@@theparadox420 I use it for photoshop theres no problems for me. The screen makes working on designs satisfying
It's all just your opinion, you can find fault with anything depending on personal preference .
I like it. True. Yes
I have TUF15 with Ryzen 4800H. It has plastic body and speakers could be louder. However keyboard layout is good and power button is away in the corner.
Before I had model n551 with aluminium shassis and great speakers, amazing built quality and speakers were amazing.
Short of saying ASUS engineers, technicians, quality control teams, etc. are fools to come up with this device - not to his liking.
Well said.
useful & funny review!
thanks!!!
i got one 15x pro with 3050/5800h . It is always slow and laggy, my packard bell from 2014 was cheaper and faster, no lags at all. I understand PCs good, i really dunno what the issue is, it has DDR4-3200 and nice components , under 60 degrees ... so... not cool.
Good points that I agree with. no reason to make escape orange for no reason, also it sticks out like a sore thumb. No reason to make power button a part of the numpad, great way to hit it by mistake.
Forget the laptop's symmetry and ergonomics and colour combinations first go and see a doctor of psychologist for your OCD. BTW good review 👍
We need people who explain these things because it will help a lot off people in future and ASUS NEED TO TAKE THIS REVIEW AS POSITIVE FOR FUTURE CUSTOMERS AND I LOVE HIS COMPLAINS❤ ITS HEALTHY COMPLAINS SO STOP SAYING HE NEED DOCTOR😮😢
@@bassflix5982 I was just kidding bro. I'm a nerd myself.
@@test-ws7sg 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man I hope they fixed all these issues with the 2023 version, because i really want one of these 🥺. I love the oled screens on vivobooks.
Which video software are you using for editing 🤔
Thanks a lot about your reviews can I ask you please.. How many hours can the battery stand in this model? How long does it take until it will be full? Thanks
Thank you for this video! You saved me from making a mistake purchase. Also you made me laugh several times during this video so I’m subscribing ❤
I lost it when he did the hesitation on the ENTER button 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I also never knew why I hate that pattern. Finally this man clearified this phenomena 😂
Can you suggesting me a laptop whose you try it and is fast enough for Photoshop and premiere? I war ready to by this one but hopefully I saw your video.
Manuell and pedal break are actually quiet common. I can totally see use for that dual way of doing this (specially since this button has an LD indicator): block the camera physically if you are not using it and turn it of in a video confernce without fiddeling with the confernce software (Zoom, Skype, TeamView and so on).
How many programs do you have running in the background where the video editing was that bad? I use a 4 or 5 year old HP pavillion 15 eg something for like 700 bucks, and can mix and add video some pretty plugin heavy tracks without any lagging, and have next to nothing latency....just have a hard time thinking its going to be that bad unless you have an super heavy programs going on outside of that..
I have owned an Asus computer for 4 years, and the power button is integrated with the keyboard, and I have never accidentally pressed this button...
I have, once. On my vivobook it's right next to the delete key.
Then you are lucky. I press wrong buttons all the time. Sometimes i press it 4 times thinking there has to be some dust under the key, why is it not working.
Dude, why would you buy a laptop if you dont like it from aestetic stand of view?
Seems a reasonable thoughts this of your. There are certain things to improve for sure in this laptop. About the performance is hard to say. windows has its narrow path to follow in order to have a clean experience and snappy. At the same way Asus bloatware might be the cause if you did not unistall them. Same for Creative cloud that I saw you had it open, that is a terrible stuff from adobe that sucks lots of RAM and cpu alone. So seeing other reviews its a mix feeling. I was planning it for a present but I am still looking around.
This video is the best review of the laptop and so funny. Thanks man!
Thank you kosta. You are kind.
0:45 thats kinda dumb.. its always the escape key, the layout is standard
Maybe they put the digital camera off button because just in case the physical one malfunctions or breaks somehow so you can still have some privacy ? 🤔
i really like the points you mentioned, same feeling...asus still stuck with the old design....some buttons has indicator, some not....the placement sometimes wrong, need to bend to see the light haha...we pay alot to buy the laptops...so they should understand how laptops users want their laptop to be, the design and usability
Bro really the community needs more reviews like this with everything 😅😅😅
Lol I appreciate
Great review I agree with all your comments abour the design flaws.
in fact, the first questions are a matter of taste, the Cardano circle is configured for 8 functions for each program, the laptop is noisy, because this is the minimum configuration for 2022, you can get a better processor and video card. As a result, take the most minimal package and complain about how it can’t cope with the installation. Regarding the location of buttons and indicators, the only thing that matters. everything else is sucked out of thin air. All these moments are on the Internet. take a laptop with a Ryzen OLED screen and complain about the buttons. perfect.
So the only complaint is it doesnt do processional video editing? what is he comparing this to. like what 1k laptop is he using that has set his expectations this high?
Thanks for the review. I'm about to buy the newest version of this laptop and I think I can live with these issues.
wich one are you going to buy the i7 12650h rtx 2050? i am thinking of buying this one so would love your opiion if you bought it
You need to Consult a Psychiatrist.
I am Not trying to be Rude but you

I am thank you.
Love it 👌🏼🤣
I guess the reason with one USB-C is that they assume you use docking stations.
As a vim user, I'm very happy to see a red Esc button.
I want to ask him, What was the alternative he would have bought ? Only valid points would be about the lag and sound. 😅
MacBook pro 16.
about the LED's on the side, you need to see this from other people point of view also, there are people that don't like to have the LED in front of them all the time
you are right. i will never buy thi shit...
Yeah. Umm. I think this is a user error.
The computer isn’t slow.
Your just not using it as intended.
This is a mid level laptop. It’s not meant to be the best in it’s the world. It’s meant for basic work. It’s meant to do a job, and by god it does it well.
For proof I’ve been able to run Hoi4 and Farm Sim 22 with no issues. And I was able to run Witcher 3 for a bit, but it kept crashing in the first graveyard you encounter
Agreed. I would never render or edit videos on battery power with the laptop set to whisper mode anyway, and even then it performs well enough. When I edit videos, I do it plugged in, and in that state, the laptop slices through the workload easily.
Wtf. It's a top processor. We are not talking about a ryzen 3 ...
@@alejandroarmas4654 mine has a Ryzen though
@@alejandroarmas4654 Exactly. This thing’s flown for me.
I was looking at these for their OLED screens. But after seeing this very informative video, I would never buy this. And if I had, I would have returned it. So a big THANK YOU for saving me the trouble. lol
Same
This line is really confusing i got an 16x 4k OLED as well but mine is K6604JV and it has none of the issues these ones have, mine has an i9 Core CPU, it does get crazy hot and requires a cooling pad, but with a cooling pad it drops like 30 degrees in temperature runs at about 60 on average
Mine has a problem with the keyboard backlight. If I stop using the keyboard for a while it goes off and only comes back on if I press the F7 key. Is yours the same? I got the intel version. Other laptops backlight comes on by pressing any key or using the mouse.
Me too
ASUS has this habit of controlling keyboard LED lights from the BIOS/EUFI. Find and check your EUFI setting(s) which controls keyboard backlighting.
brother you would KNOW that you have silenced your laptop as THERE WILL BE NO SOUND COMING FROM IT ATALL why bother to have a light there
i personally think the camera part was for double precautions cause i think even if you were to use the function only , and it it turns off the camera, you wont know for sure whether the camera is off or its tricking you cause hackers nowadays are able to gain access to your computer and trick you with notifications saying one thing but in actuality whats happening is the opposite hence I believe the physical camera lock was implemented to safeguard against possible sceniaros like this but then again im not sure , im just speculating here. nice vid btw
Exactly. He thought that the privcy shutter turns the camera off, while in reality, it is there only to block the camera even when it is on.
Also you need turn on and off feature on development of AI camera related tools.... This man is only talking about his convinience.
this guy is right totally
Thank you Hapich

My Asus Strix came with a small scratch. Have had terrible issues with it since day 1.

Sorry but your first compliant made me laugh 😂 if you confuse the esc button with power button because of it’s color, then the problem is not with the laptop but with you 😂😂😂
Thank you for the review. It was very informative. It’s good to see someone showing the annoying these from day to day use.
There is. Othing wrong with the pc, but you are uneccary sensitiv, you would like no other pc
Nah, the fan was really loud af
VideoPad may be a slow program by itself or it cannot use GPU acceleration on mobile Ryzens yet. I always used a low quality preview in VideoPad on my desktop pc with Ryzen and Nvidia.
And only LEDs and NumLock claims are fair.
A red escape button makes no sense to me either, utterly pointless.
What you need is a keybored with just ONE key: the power button.
it's all are valid point... I'm thing to buy it but now I've to thing again after watching this video
Record buttons (sound and camera) have LED's to notice you that you are being recorded. It was always like that in cameras, telephones, webcams etc. You really dont need a led to inform you that you muted the computer. No sound coming off the speakers is one major indicator that the laptop is muted :) no need for an LED here - It is not that a sensitive info really for you to have an LED on the button. If every button would have an LED after some time you would stop noticing the LEDs on the record buttons and might miss them and transmit out to the open something you did not want to be transmitted. That is how the human brain works. But if you have LEDs only on those two buttons you immediately (at a firts glance) know that the microphone or the camera are turned on. And the physical cover for the camera is to be 100% sure that if someone hacks yor computer, they will not be able to record you since the camera is physically covered. Those things You are talking about here are designed pefectly to long established ergonnomical standards. I'm sorry but your OCD is working against Your best intrests here :) .
Some rants and some very valid points. Overall you convinced me to remove it from my basket.
I dont have any issues with this laptop, and the screen is amazing also.
Agreed bud
