I don't know if you know this trick. An old timer taught me this. When you cut down that stainless part, cut the piece you removed into strips and use that as you filler rods tig welding. That way, when you polish it out, the color of the alloy will match.
Great tip! Thanks for telling me!
@CarterAutoRestyling make sure the strips you use are very very clean and it will be amazing.
👍🏻🍺
😲 wow, that's brilliant!!!
Loved the rant and it's all true, people pay more for recycling milk jugs than we paid for real hardware back when things had style
The heater noise is absolutely no problem for me. I appreciate you sharing your expertise.
Excellent, lovely finish on the roof.
GM really needs to bring back the optional "children's ashtray" ....
I'm sending them an angry letter as we speak. Maybe I'll even start a petition...
I remember candy cigarettes with the imitation menthol flavor. Those and cap guns. Man has this world gone to ^%$#.
@@Freedomquest08I consumed many cartons of candy cigarettes. I contracted a rare condition called “sugar emphysema”.
I for one will be happy to see some 1935 Chevrolet content. Looking at the inside of that car, it must have been a low price car, I didn't even see a steering wheel. I'm guessing that must have been extra.
Most folks didn't need steering wheels back then. It was a simpler time
“You must restore every piece of crap” say the keyboard warriors who usually don’t even have a project and have never restored anything! 😂
Love your humor and your skills are insane! The best thing is that you inspire me to go and not restore my own piece of crap in the garage! Love the cats😊
Haha thanks!
Those aren't rust spots they are age spots. You need to get in touch with a dermatologist for the correct cream to fade them.
I laughed when you said you would do anything to avoid having to use math for your work. I'm very much the same as you when it comes to that too. ( I can't for the life of me understand how my Grandson loves studying to be a Chemical Engineer? It must be his maternal side 'cause it didn't come from me). BTW I was delighted when I spied a little decal in your Chevy's driver's side rear quarter window at 20:55 of the video clip.
Great workmanship here. Appreciate your attention to details and your methodology and explanations at every stage of progress. Look forward to every posting.
To your point at 12:00 Kyle, that's what makes these types of projects so satisfying, you are turning trash into proverbial treasure.
The attention to detail on the older vehicles just amazes me. I see it every day on my 40 dodge on everything from the bumperettes to the window cranks and everything in between. Very art deco-ish and very cool. Thanks for sharing. Cheers
Stick of lead? I thought it was a silver Slim Jim! Why do my lips feel funny?
I got my mom watching your channel now, she love your humor and music selections. She is also amazed at how you turn garbage into greatness. Well done!
Looking forward to the revival of the blue car myself
“Oh the humanity!” Doubt that many picked up on that historical exclamation. Good job! Besides being an exceptional craftsman, and sarcastic humorist, you’re a historian. Perfect combination.
Hahaha thanks!
I was going to suggest sticking that lead somewhere other than your ear. Or is that already the problem?😊🤪 The roof looks great. This truck is going to be amazing. While I appreciate a good restoration, what you are doing is taking obvious garbage and turning it into something unique. You are still keeping some of the classic design. I'm loving it. Cheers!
I'm working about as hard as Allen and the hounds today. The money people think I work tirelessly. I kind of do because my job is to think about stuff. This is stuff. I really appreciate how you explain things. If I know why the how part is much easier for me. Joseph and Mary send their love. I'll just like. Thank you for your time.
Don't work too hard! Allan is always tuckered out after a hard days work at the ball machine.
I had a bit of trouble with the audio at first until I realized I had body solder in my ears from a rush job yesterday. I'm old.... so I know a thing or two about rants and yours was a doozy. (that's grandpa slang for "real good") I have to admit I'm really looking forward to the Chevy episodes... and thanks for the heads up on when they will appear... now I can completely ignore the next episode. Your loyal viewer in a shed... Cheers
Thanks for the heads up on which episodes you will be skipping! Now I know which videos I can talk smack about the shed in without fear of retaliation.
😁😁@@CarterAutoRestyling
Oooo that's a good come-back!

WoW, the likes and comments went up quick today. Looks like anticipation is building for The Chicken Truck.
Great work, always look forward to your videos. That before and after of the roof was amazing.
Thanks very much! More videos coming soon!
The heater is actually pretty quiet on video. Doesn't bother me.
I’m sorry that you have ingested so much lead at such a young age! I really went for it scraping and sanding houses and now I make questionable choices at the grocery store. I guess it explains why you are not giving your attention to a sensible car, like a luxury Cordoba! Fine Corinthian leather in those cars! Please think about your choices, and those grocery stores are always hiring! If you must adhere to your current career path, at least consider Bondo as a potential sponsor. They make a fine product that is not only elegant, but durable in applications up to 6 inches!
Since I started watching your build here, My UA-cam has been suggesting Rick Moranas videos. I love Rick Moranas, so thank you Hoser. wink
Looking forward to seeing you get the Led out. Please leave the Zeppelin's in Germany.
Thank you for your expertise and entertaining commentary. Cheers to you from Ohio.
Kudos again, young fellow. I consider myself an able and competent metal man, yet you've eclipsed me like the moon will the sun on April 8th. I'm humbled. One thing I could never do is feel for dents with a heavy glove on. Either bare hand, or a light cotton work glove.
I have to use a cloth as well... Older I get the less I can feel it.
Great video! It's amazing how much work is involved in fixing a roof.
Children's ashtray ..😂😂😂
Always good headway! Thanks for sharing Kyle!!
Looking forward to seeing more cats. Oh truck also.😎✌️👍❤️
You mean the chicken truck won’t be done by Canada day? Well I never ! It will be nice to see the old Chevy back on the street .
Thanks for taking us on this journey!
Totally agree with you on new cars, most are garbage and are designed by people addicted to something mind altering.
Glad to hear the 1935 Chevy will be back on the road.
The chicken truck may not have as many brackets as project Binky, but at least there are regular updates...the guys at Bad Obsession have been suspiciously absent from the airwaves for a long time now.
Thanks for the video, Kyle...have a great day, man!
I personally got bored of doing body work years ago. If it ain't custom , chopped etc it's just the same as everyone Else's .l enjoy your channel 👍
That roof is fine looking as heck! You have some mad skills there. I will be watching your next video as I have a piece of stainless that has a dent that needs removing. The heater does not bother your sound from this end. Looking forward to seeing you get your Chevy car going as well.
Thanks! I hope to have the stainless video out soon.
So nice to see a video, last week I was on a death bed, but pulled through, now I'm thankful for each day.
@@willydavidReal bad flu.
Sorry to hear that Robert, I'm glad you're still with us!
Stomach flu here... not me..... yet.
Glad you pulled thru. Take each day as a gift.
Glad you're ok!
I too am going thru something & am glad for every extra day I have.
You don't realise how precious every day is!
Live long & prosper 😀.
Preaching to the choir! Been working on my '35 Studebaker all month, attention to detail and plain old just giving a shit about what they were building, is evident throughout the car. Plus, it's so, so cool!
Love the binky reference. Unlike that one I'm sure youwill finish yours in my lifetime. Also looking forward to the 35 and especially the 36. Love that pickup.
Oohhh. Side Quest episode!
Let me guess... Can Bus communication issues on a 2019 Audi? 😂
Thanks so much Kyle I really enjoy your videos. Nice job cutting down the window garnishes👍😎
Our youngest granddaughter was recently offered a nice used Ford Escape. Hmmm, it doesn't have a rear view camera,😢 nor does it have side air bags!😮 Unacceptable! Worse than that it's ten years old! How embarrassing! Oh well I guess her parents will have to get second jobs. 😢 She really is a sweet girl, it's just the times we live in.
I'm with you, the tupperware cars that they're putting out lately are just rolling blindspots with flashy computer panels to distract you from the fact that you just bought a vastly over priced pile of recycled bear cans. Wow, that was one of my best rants yet, and your welcome to repeat it as you see fit. I'm 3/4 of a century old, and I still think I would have been farther ahead to have kept my 41 plymouth coupe or 64 dodge. The good thing about being my age is everyone expects you to be an old crank. I try not to disappoint as often as possible.
First, thank for the tour of the 1937 Chevy, what a great car! I look forward to your other projects, putting that one back on the road would be great. Thanks again for the videos! Cheers!
Every episode is a great experience, and your really pounding them out. This time other than your expert dent repair I really liked your take on new verses old.I think up until the late sixties if you bought new cars or trucks, you got a better car or truck like you said the difference between the 25 and thirty five. I know in the fifties and sixties Chevy trucks could be made into 4 wd with a NAPCO kit that was put on at the dealership. I'm guessing you know what went into it but the amazing part was it was advertised as being so rugged after wearing out the new truck you bring it to the dealer and they would take out the 4 wd conversion and put it in the 2nd new truck. Also not related to trucks but woodstoves, I've had a few good ones that were newer, they all had sharp corners.10 yrs ago I got a 1917 Glenwood Cookstown. All the corners are rounded, I guess because they knew kids were going to run around the kitchen and bang there heads on the stove, and the old people didn't have time to sew their heads up. I think they were smarter back then.😂
I can't lie. Watching you slap the s**t out of that roof for 3 episodes, my mind started to say "bondo,bondo,bondo...". Looks great!
Kyle, please don't use muriatic acid, instead use phosphoric acid. You can thank me later.
Tom
The fast forward sections are ace, you can actually see the steel moving and sliming back where it came from , so cool 😎👍🍺
Plus doing some kind of refurbishment of coldwar motors forklift if I paid attention. Almost every thing seen on the web is squarebody chevy trucks that have nine inch thick paint. That said is because someone said its going to a rustbelt area, so why use good steel when we can use it for bullets for the government. That seems to still be the way it is... oh they gave it a shot with aluminum parts and pieces and then applied some liberal amounts of plastic with those big screen entertainment centers. Along the way came those doors that if opened at the wrong temperature no long work. I do refer your channel to guys/gals that are just trying to learn something, most likely a waste of my and your time. I am not your best subscriber as too dang poor to pay attention. At seventy four now, found out my Medicaid will no longer pay for a lot of my necessary meds. No Blue Cross insurance and so find out I am expendable. Just put him in a home... then the FEMA camp should that occur. Not too sure if that is the move I would love to see happen. Why, no one is listening to old people as we no longer contribute to society as a paying idiot. I might add that those first words of using body filler for glass stuff was enough to evoke a feeling of "Why now" but you cleared it up as I am just a idiot who has nothing better to do with my time left but watch you tube as we are so dang lazy and worthless.
Rubbing that soul-der on your hands is not a health problem at all. What you should do is take a gulp of pineapple juice and hold it in your mouth then poke the soul-der between your pursed lips and make like you're brushing your tooth with it. That'll have the safety crowd freaking out for sure! It'll also interest another entirely different group of people for entirely different reasons but, hey, likes is likes! 😁
Another great video in the books ... you even make chopping the garnish moldings look easy ... gotta love the old turret tops ... room for your fedora hat ... noticed you had to rub it in about your fancy new chevelle ... la ... te ... da ... on to the next one ...
Early in the episode I thought hmmm … Kyle is coming dangerously close to teaching us something, in spite of earlier promises to only entertain us. Then, he finished with the his trademark flurry of hilarious rants, so we can rest assured that he hasn’t forgotten why we came in the first place.
I have no idea how you are able to feel those dents with gloves on but im looking right at it and you fix every one
If the gloves are thin enough they can help. One old bodyman's trick is to put a shop rag between your hand and the metal. It keeps your sense of touch from confusing your brain from feeling something that isn't there. I don't know if that makes any sense but it's the best explanation I could come up with.
Looking forward to the pld Chev, i remember you took us for a virtual ride in it a while back, around the snowy streets.
Hey Kyle, great video it makes sense to do the small window trim part first and fit them early, I think people leave them to do later and hurry through them because they feel the project is so close and don’t do as good of a job finishing them along with the other small jobs that need done. Thanks again can’t wait for the next video take care. Later
When Scott gets there on his road trip with the tractor, he could probably whip that moulding into shape for you. lol
That's the plan!
Big brother speaks, if you shave your eyebrows you won’t look as angry, just trying to help. Keep on keepin on.
Hi Kyle. The new cars don't have a soul ,all are just cookie cutter plastic piles. i will be looking forward to you your upcoming videos. As always I liked and shared and hope do the same. All my very and give the Cats a treat for me.
Modern "Chevelle" had me laughing!
Considering Chevy stopped building the "Chevelle" nearly 50 years ago.
I spent more time trying to hear the heater run than listen to your ramblings Kyle, iv had to put up with a twin pump compressor running all day and the boss playing something called drum and bass(think he recorded was scrached ), ill try and pay more attention next vid
I, too, prefer to spoon against a dolly which has some curvature. The roof is looking great.
The older cars have more style but how many cup holders did they come with? That's what's really important.
Went to get my can of Bondo off the shelf and it slipped out of my hands, dropped on the floor and got dented. Spent most of the morning filling the dent with lead. Would have filled it with my other can of Bondo, but didn’t have any hardener for that can.
Oh well, better luck next time!
wow great job on that roof Kyle. Can't wait for the ole chevy project and glad to hear you will be driving it. I drive my 55 chevy truck every day. God bless
I really enjoy watching you work on that chicken truck
The lastest Motorhead Misfits video has one of these old Trucks someone spent a lot of time making look hideous....i mean really bad.
So you had to add an incredibly insightful comparison of old vs. new cars, which I am in hearty agreement with. You’re making it very difficult to keep up my natural keyboard sarcasm! Yeah, miss my ‘56 desperately, and living on a dirt road full of potholes makes me yearn for a solid frame and leaf springs.
I'm not much interested in mechanical work, but you'll make it entertaining so I'll watch. Best wishes.
I liked your rant on car design, then and now. I follow whatever you work on. The '35 Chevy looks cool.
Useful progress looking right, the 35 needs to get out!
Kyle of Canada, Thank you for another great video. Your music takes me back to Mr. Rogers and.his positive influence on my younger years…At least your cats are real and not puppets…Best of all is your destructive reconstructions with dangerous tools. Your passion for. fire, entertains my primal need for open flames and danger…In the safety of my house. You make my life better. I am still looking for one. Peace man.
Hahaha thanks for watching!
That's a great slogan for a C.A.R. tee shirt spare the filler spoil the job .
Oh Kyle. You made me reminisce about the tasty leaded paint chip snacks of my youth. Good times. 😵💫
Looking better and better great job.😊😊😊😊
Driving style is worth any troll-infested comment area.
23:55 You can besmirch modern cars all you like. In general I agree with you, but you have to agree having a STEERING WHEEL adds so much to the driving experience.
Kyle had to sell the steering wheel to buy more bondo
Jeeps are full of plastic and computer crap as well today, the last decent ones were the CJ7.
Just uploaded the worst tail gate repair ever to mankind......80 vw rabbit tail gate. 22 gauge with a dent right through the name on it. Sucker took me a whole week but I painted it yesterday.
Rabbit season?
@@TommyBradhamDuck Theathon!
@@billholder9665 we can always spot the fellow old guys, eh? :)
Another great episode. Can't wait to see the '35 tooling around.
Thanks! The audacious intro sequences alone are worth the cost of admission! 😲
Thanks very much Bob! I'm glad you think the intros are worthwhile haha
Always so satisfying. BTW I had to mention you in my latest video. Because we’ll… I accidentally set myself on fire.
I’m learning all I can from you!
I enjoyed this a lot. I agree, the older cars and trucks are much more interesting/fun to drive.
My cat is nosey enough that she would have the balls taken out of that toy quickly.
Hmm I need to get her helping me in the garage, now that I think about it. ;)
I was trained as a computer programmer way back in 1985. I think the only place for computers or any electronics in a car is in the trunk, when you are bringing a new fangled record player home from the store.
Nice reference to Project Binky! But you have plenty of entertainment value. They rarely had anything on fire and they never danced around. So sad. They could have been great.
I'm looking forward to the 35 work even if it's not all fender repair.
I agree Joe that the trunk is a good place for computers--especially if you are on the way to the local dump!😉
Hi Joe. Allan doesn't have opposable thumbs so he has been unable to remove the balls so far...
That doesn't seem to stop my cat. She kinda freaks me out sometimes. But any good cat should do that, I guess.
Such a wonderful tutorial regarding the progress on the chicken truck. I especially enjoyed the sequence regarding the garnish molding and trim, turning each piece into seventeen pieces and then installing, what valiant efforts to restore the old style. Tom and I also enjoyed seeing the beautiful old blue car. The art deco? of the day in the handles were impressive. Sir Allan kitty is looking grand with his toy. My Albert kitty was torturing his "baby sister" Phoebe again and was put in time out. As always we are looking forward to the up coming videos!
Like the Binky shout out. Like you my current new projects are cars I already own. It's the way forward. What's up with the steering box?
Hi Mart. The steering box is just completely worn out. They tried to repair/rebuild it during the last restoration, but ended up just making it worse.
I can tell you're having a positive effect on Dan at DD Speed shop, he started sanding his body filler now. So keep it up.
He still has a channel?
Thanks!
Thank you Chris!
You rock brother, keep it all up, and keep your head straight. Lol
Keep em coming! Look forward to every episode! Thanks Kyle!
That rear vent window woulda been a 5k add on in today's world lol
I love they way you agitate a crowd..your MC'ing skills are under appreciated. Looking forward to seeing more of the 35
Thanks for all you do. Don’t pay any attention to armchair craftsman. Just keep the great content , the why and what for is so important to all of us. You are a very good craftsman,God Bless!!!!!!
How neat is that?
Nice job.
A crazy Canadian, minuet music, what would make this more enjoyable? Beer. Thank you, and more cat videos.
Agonizing over dent repair. I love it
I started to lose interest in cars when they stopped putting bud vases in them. There's no style or elegance in the modern motorcar. I'm hoping you'll be able to incorporate a bud vase into the Chicken Truck. Cheers! 😎👍🛻🐔🌹🏁🏁
