"What Is Love?", "Like To Get To Know You Well", "New Song", "No One Is To Blame", "Life In One Day", "Everlasting Love"... etc. The guy had a lot of really good songs in the 80's.
Most are my faves. Hope he does more.
'What is love' - My first bought vinyl record😃
You must do all these Jaycee especially WHAT IS LOVE and HIDE AND SEEK
Truth!
@@captainnemo190 yes same with me one of my favorite Howard Jones songs
We were so spoiled for music 1970's - 1990's.
No One is to Blame, New Song, and What is Love are all great songs from this talented artist and 80s hitmaker :)
i'd like to get to know you well is also good
And just like that, I was transported back to the 80s and being a kid again.
How RIGHT YOU ARE! Howard Jones was a huge part of my youth-great statement!
Yeah, this is one of the ones that doesn’t give me bad flashbacks. Puberty was not a fun time. But this is still one of my jams.
“And do you feel scared? I do, but I won’t stop and falter.” 35 years later, this song STILL gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. The lyrics are so relatable to everyone, and it’s a fun song to sing along to.
While this one is my favorite by Howard Jones, there are SO MANY he’s put out that are great. He’s had a lot of hits over the years. Many are ballads but he does have other upbeat songs like “You Know I Love You” and “What Is Love”-that one hits hard lyrically too. But whatever you decide to react to will make me happy because you really can’t go wrong with this artist.
Have to agree 100% with what you say the “And do you feel scared? I do, but I won’t stop and falter.” not just the lyrics but the way he sings this makes this song truly shine
@@ajgogo1233 You’re right, something about the way he sings that “I do” hits home.
@@mangerinegirl its a great track I was a teenager first listening to this track & for me it was the best he ever made, I love your approach to music keep it up :)
Try “ no one is to blame “ by him its lovely
Absolutely this ....the message in the lyrics is amazing.....
"You can look at the menu, but you just can't eat...'
"You can feel the cushion but you can't have a seat."
"Get a view of the pool, but you can't have a swim..."
"You can feel the punishment but you can't commit the sin..."
Brilliant lyrics.
Talk about lyrics. That one is special.
excellent request
YES!
This is what I was coming down to the comments to say :)
"I'd like to get to know you well" is a great HJ track.
FINALLY!!! Howard Jones... LOVE
I love love his song called “ Everlasting Love “
Yes, I enjoy that one. A good one for Jay to react to.
Yesss that’s great one too
I freaking love HoJo!
He is such a talented, positive guy. SOOO many good songs. So many.
This is a rabbit hole you need to go down.
I have loved Howard Jones since the 80's. So many good songs!!
Listen to No One Is To Blame... That's a good one by him. I remember this one too.
Yes!
The live version in my view is the best ua-cam.com/video/ENB2eX-U3a8/v-deo.html
Yessssssss
I'm a Howard Jones fan from Scotland I saw him live and paid for a VIP ticket to meet him. But not too stuck on No One Is To Blame. I know it was huge in America. Not saying U hate it or anything but its not one I gravitate to.
Howard Jones was the definition of '80s synth pop. He's greatness
I love love love Howard Jones. Danceable, funky, and those high notes are epic.
Howard Jones' "LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU WELL", "EVERLASTING LOVE", "NO ONE IS TO BLAME"... and the list goes on...
H.J. was all over the airwaves in the '80's - and the dance floor always got crowded when tracks by him were played!💃
Back in the 80's, I wrote to Howard's fan club, asking if we could have a signed photo, or something that could be auctioned for a charity I was associated with. His mum wrote back, sending three signed photos and a lovely letter, wishing us all the best. He seems to be just a really nice guy. Btw, if you like this, you should really check out Nik Kershaw as well
The last concert I saw before the world shut down. He's still got it.
His best songs are "What is Love?" and "New Song." I bet you'd love them both.
I totally agree with you!
Yesssss. New song...never gets old
What a catchy tune 🎤 Caught myself singing alone 😊
My favorite by Howard. Had a few good hits. Check out "No one is to blame" and "Life in one day".
definitely no one is to blame.
this guy brings back great vibes from that time
What Is Love and New Song
"No one is to blame" is my personal favorite Howard Jones song
On the radio every twenty minutes in the 80's.
In a previous life, Jayvee grew up in the 80's.
This is one of those songs I would hear every now and then through the years and then one day it fully hits me and is incredible. 80’s new wave is still so good today.
Howard Jones had several top-tier songs. Another one is What is Love with its cool video.
Please try "Hide and Seek", that's also a song of him I would highly recommend!
Howard arranged the music him self. Through his synrhs and keyboards.
First saw Howard as the opener for Eurythmics. The crowd was in shock when he came out alone, pushed a button and all this music came out. Now a guy packing an arena hits a spacebar on his laptop to start the show and he's a god. Also saw Howard later in his career at a club and his parents were the ones working the merch booth. Really great down to earth people. I pre-ordered a CD and when it arrived in the mail it included a handwritten letter from his mom thanking me for supporting her son. :)
@@minusyou1 I was in his fan club. You know the jumper he wears in new song. His mam charged 110£ knitted by her. If you wanted one. lol
@@lunch7735 That's so awesome. I go in and out of what Howard is up to, but just a class act and person.
@@minusyou1 just one more thing. His birthday is the same as mine. 23 February. Every year I've raised a glass. Why not. : )
@Luna Raven ❤️
You were fast with this one! :) No One is to Blame! Check it out! Huge hit and a totally different vibe from him! 👍🏼 Fun fact: I saw him perform in a local Nola bar a few years ago with some friends. He was just as good and still so much fun! :)
Yes! “No one is to blame”!!
No One is to Blame us SO beautiful…..the lyrics are so deep…..♥️❤️❤️
I heard him perform recently and his voice is still very good
Was that the tour where it was just him and his piano and talked about how he wrote each song and what it meant? That was a FANTASTIC concert.
I loved this when it came out. Not having heard it for years IT 'S STILL AN AWESOME F@#*ING SONG. He was a real pioneer of how far you could push synth sound.
Great choice people.😁👍🎶❤️
His song, No one is to Blame, is so good!!
One of my favorite 80s song.
Howard Jones is excellent. His song 'New Song' is highly recommended and 'Noone is to blame ' is too.
yesssss 👊🏻🤟🏻 another great synth master is his friend Nik Kershaw… on the same line you could find King with love and pride
I like Nik Kershaw's Wouldn't it be Good and The Riddle.
@@TheErsu check out HoJo and Nik Kershaw performing “Wouldn’t It Be Good” together live in 2008.
ua-cam.com/video/amD2G9Kuu10/v-deo.html
@@richardvinsen2385 Thank you for sharing this link. That is an amazing version of this song!
I still have Love and Pride on vinyl
Great suggestion. Love Nik. For a similar vibe, though, gotta do "Easy". I mean, no one but fans know the song....but shit is poppin. Mark King on fire.
Good music of the 80's.howard Jones was one of them.
Elton John called him one of the best song writers of his era
Incredible talent all around musician, instrumentalists and vocalist … New Song is great too.
Hey Jayvee
. Remember Level 42 who you reviewed yesterday..well their Bass player and lead singer Mark King was a good friend of Howard Jones and played the bass on a lot of his recordings.. so you might want to look into that ..King was well known for his 'slap style' of playing..
Howard Jones usually played most of the bass on his records with assistance from his brother, Mark - one of the only other musicians to regularly appear on his albums. I think the slapping bit was actually a Yamaha DX7 slap bass synthesizer patch, though, and Jones was one of the only artists to really explore what a DX7 could do ack then. They were insanely complicated and unlike any previous synths. Their introduction (along with the Fairlight Sampling Synthesizer) kinda moved Synthpop away from Synth sounds and more toward "fake" organic instruments, which couldn't really be accomplished before. So, where an act like OMD would have had a song made out of beeps, bloops, and buzzes in 1981, by 1985, their synths were emulating pianos, strings, horns, drums, guitars, and electric bass sounds.
J, such an underrated artist!! His "Like To Get To Know You Well", "No One Is To Blame" and "What Is Love" are next for you!!!
Saw him in concert, a one man show onstage. He was wonderful. Opened for Eurythmics 1986. Best concert!
One of my favorite dance songs from the 80's.
I love Howard Jones. When I listen to him I feel positive about life, even with the sader songs.
It's almost criminal how few people know great Howard Jones is, especially "Lift Me Up" from '91, Howard at his best
At last a Howard Jones reaction, one of my 80’s fave’s. Next Howard Jones reaction you definitely will like ‘New Song’, “Like To Get To Know You Well” and “What is Love”.
Also ABC - “The Night You Murdered Love’, “When Smokey Sings “, “Be Near Me”, “The Look Of Love”, “Poison Arrow”.
OMG< Jayvon should definitely check out some ABC!!!
Tears are not enough - ABC
Definitely ABC!
HoJo! I saw him live in the mid-80s & he was fantastic! ❤️ Check out “Life in One Day” and “What Is Love” also!
Oh I forgot about “Life in One Day”! Such a great message in that one!
I agree…”No one is to Blame” is a great song.
The song is so positive and uplifting. It has seriously gotten me through tough times. Love new wave!
One of my favorite artists of the 80’s. Saw him in concert a few times and he is great. His music is very positive and uplifting.
I still love this song. Never gets old. Howard Jones is brilliant. Love his tone. I used to blast this driving around in my little convertible. Super vibey!
You’ve got to try Joe Jackson if you haven’t yet. Steppin Out…..
Oh yes, that's a great shout. So many to choose from, Is She Really Going Out With Him, It's Different For Girls (probably my favourite). Then his style became jazzier with Steppin Out as you mention. Breaking Us In Two is another great one. His version of Cab Calloway's Jumpin' Jive is great fun as well.
Absolutely! I call that the Kroger song! Everytime I'm in a store it seems that steppin out eventually plays
Fun reaction! You should listen to “No One is to Blame” by Howard Jones. Great lyrics.
“What Is Love"!!!
One of my favorite songs from my 8th/9th grade year of school 🥰
Jovaughn I absolutely loved how you instantly got the message. Howard Jones is brilliant. My favorite song by him is “What is Love”! But he has so many wonderful songs. I hope you react to more HoJo! Thank you!!
This is great - never see Howard Jones reactions and he’s one of my 80s faves!
Another 80's artist that you should check out, Paul Young.
Tessa's please do Paul young the first guy I ever faced at the grand age of 11❤️😁
One of my big regrets of the 80's is never getting to see Howard live. I LOVED his music. His first album was great too. Super talented: he plays most of the instruments on his records - Lead vocals, electric pianos, synthesizers, electric bass, synth bass, drums, percussion, drum programming. Most of the bass is actually a keyboard sampler called a Fairlight CMI, but Howard's brother also played electric bass guitar. The background singers were the awesome Afrodiziak who sang on a lot of British New Wave albums in the 80's: The Jam, Elvis Costello, Madness, Howard Jones, Heaven 17, and many others. Try going back to his first album, Human's Lib, and check out "New Song" and 'What is Love"(my fave). Thanks for listening and sharing!
Peace from SF
I used to work in BBC radio in the late 90s early 2000s and Howard Jones was one of the guests. We always went to the pub afterwards and I ended up getting drunk with him all afternoon. He's an awesome, lovely guy!
He was so charming, awesome voice, overall fun vibes
GLAD you're back!!! "No one is to blame" is another great one by Howard. Phil Collins on drums and he produced the track
Yes! I didn’t know Phil was on drums and produced. Makes me love that song even more. I used to cover it in a band in college. ❤️
@@jenniferkasowicz9463 listen to the where the drums come in 2 beats before the 2nd verse. He always used a gate setting on his toms. Once you hear it, you can't "not" hear it. Enjoy🏖
@@robert1325 oh my goodness! You’re right! I hear it! You’ve made my heart happy today. Thank you!
“No one is to blame” is a collaboration with Phil Collins…great song!!!
He has so many hits- New Song, What is Love, You Know I love you, Everlasting Love, Prisoner, my fave - Revolution of the Heart
Love this man's band and energy, and love this song. Thank you for this reaction.
Things can only get Bettuh... I think I’m a little bit jealous. You have access to decades of music and can hear so much of it in such a short amount of time. It took us all those DECADES!!! 😳😂😂😂❤️
Love Howard Jones....I have seen him live a few times over the years, and every time, never fails to entertain. Plenty of songs to choose from - What Is Love, New Song, Hey Mama, The Prisoner, Life In One Day, and so many more. He is still recording and performing to this day. A good artist to follow. Always positive in his lyrical content and outlook.
Great 80s music and great positive messaging - I put him on when I need my spirits lifted. So glad that someone is finally reacting to him!!! Other hits are Life in One Day, New Song, what is Love?, and No One is to Blame.
Whoa, whoa, whooooa!!🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎵 Things can ONLY get better!!! I had forgotten about this song! It used to be a favorite of mine! He had another one too, that I liked, slower, but I can't remember the title.
Saw him in concert so many times. He really had a different message than most Brit bands at the time. Most of the music is actually played by him on synth. There was him and the back up singers and a million synthesizers on stage and that's it.
Love HoJo. ❤️
Yes yes yes!
I love him so much and love that you are educating the children ✨✨✨
Loved to see your reaction to this one - Howard Jones is one of the iconic New Wave artists from the 80s and all of his stuff is great. Fell in love with his music from the moment I heard his first radio hit, "New Song." The essential Howard Jones song trifecta is "New Song," "What is Love," and "Things Can Only Get Better."
This was one of my favorite songs as a kid. "Lift Me Up" and "Everlasting Love" are pure inspirational pop perfection. And "No One Is To Blame" such a beautiful ballad
Before I even watch your reaction video, I want to thank you for giving Howard Jones a listen. HoJo is nothing short of amazing! Saw him in concert back in the 80s and his music was continually on my playlist.
He got so many good songs. When I hear him I am 15 again ♥
Yeah the first time I found this it was my go to song whenever I would feel depressed! it always has lift my spirits! 😊❤ Howard rocks!
YES! I suggested this to Jamel as well. Howard Jones deserves to be rediscovered. You'll love his library.
I love this man. He had some of the most iconic hair in the 80s. 😂 Some of my favorites are:
“Like to Get to Know You Well”
“What is Love?”
“No One is to Blame”
Listening to these 80s songs makes me realize how much I love a horn section.
Howard Jones' first hit is "what is love" and I think its his best song
I just want to say I have been in love with your videos!! Seeing you react to songs that I've listened to gives them a brand new life!! It feels like I'm listening to them for the first time too! It truly fills me with so much joy and happiness you cannot imagine!! I can never stop smiling! Keep up the incredible work!!
Also, you should listen to more Coldplay, they're my favorite!!
Also, listen to Cough Syrup by Young the Giant! It would be cool to see your reaction!!
I LOVED the 80's and Howard Jones Pleeeeze! Imagine..Live Aid 1985 and Madonna was his back up!! Let me know if you want more!!
Who’s Madonna???
"what is love" is also good but "no one is to blame" is magnificent - my favourite. lyrically hojo was one of the finest of the '80s.
Howard Jones is one of my favorite artists from the 80’s. You can’t go wrong picking any of his songs to listen to.
My best friend growing up dad drove tour buses for Howard Jones back in the day. I got to go to see him in concert at Vanderbilt University with backstage passes. I was 14 years old and this was awesome. I got to meet Howard and the band and they were very cool. Great reaction 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Pretty much everything you hear is done by Howard himself. Extraordinary talent.
Nice reaction! I think you felt the song the way Howard intended 😊 If you enjoyed this one and the message conveyed, gotta strongly suggest you check out another Howard Jones classic “New Song” which was his first big hit. Also, “Life In One Day” and “Everlasting Love” both great songs as well.
Please do "Wouldn't It Be Good" by Nick Kershaw. Another 80s one hit wonder.
Yes! Highly underrated song.
Yes, please!
One Hit Wonder ? Dancing Girls, Human Racing, The Riddle, I Won't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Wide Boy, Don Quixote and When A Heart Beats were all good singles too.
@@fluffibuni8663 - I completely agree with you, but here in the States, they don't know any song other than Wouldn't It Be Good. I remember hearing him sing Wide Boy live when he opened for Paul Young. Only one other girl was up and dancing. Sad Nik doesn't get the love he deserves.
Yes, this is Great hit.
I was lucky enough to see him at Radio City in the mid-90s with Culture Club and the Human League. One of the best concerts I've seen. My favorites of his are "What is Love?" and "New Song". "Everlasting Love" has a really cute video.
You know his hair has it's own postcode, great song, there is a version of "No One Is To Blame" that Phil Collins produced and played drums on its a masterclass in songwriting
Phil also on backing vocals
I want that orange suit!!!
No One is to Blame was played a dozen times a day on radio stations back then.
Great choice! Try New Song from HoJo next!
I agree with this.
I unsubscribed, just wasn't finding anything interesting....
I remember dancing to this at the night club, it's a great song and the playing of the instruments is first class. So many great songs in the 80's and great to dance to. I only heard the first notes and knew this song, Howard made lovely music though I don't remember them I know I enjoyed listening and dancing to his music. Take care and stay safe please everyone God bless you all love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
Howard is such an amazing talent! Please, dive in, and take us with you!
Ha ha ha..........that was GREAT! Loved it! That was always 1 of my favorites 😃😀😆😄🤣😂😅🤗😁😃😀😆😄🤣
My dad was in the US Air Force for 23 years. My mum was Irish and in 1966 to 1966, my dad was stationed in England and we lived in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire for those 3 years. Howard Jones grew up in High Wycombe, and he has a special place in my life.
80s music was just the bomb! Pop, rock, rap, soul, R&B …. We had it all and everyone loved it. Friday nights at the dance clubs were jamming to HoJo! Guys on the move with tight jeans and the girls with big hair and high heels. Fun … it was fun. No one has fun anymore. We were so lucky.
He knew, almost immediately, I love it.
Life in One Day, No One Is To Blame, Like To Get To Know You Well, What is Love? Everlasting Love, Powerhouse. Howard was a treat to experience in the 80s!
And do you feel scared? I do.. 2022 sounds more Awesome than ever! 🕊❤🎶
❤From my highschool days ! Love Howard Jones !!! ❤️
I like how he is so happy with the music and musicians. All of the music on the album was made by synthesizers, just show how real it sounds
HoJo is just awesome, so many great songs and still so great in concert.
Hearing this song again made me emotional! One of my favorites from way back when...this one defined how great those days were. Thank you for the reminder!
