Howard Jones is still performing and he sounds just as good now. You must check out more of his songs as well as Nik Kershaw as they are both songwriting geniuses who still perform
I graduated from high school in 1985 and yes it was a great time to be a young kid. Quality of music at that time was/is amazing! HoJo has many great tunes! An 80s retro party would be so fun! You definitely will have to dress for the part. 🥳
My brother introduced me to Howard Jones. He always played ‘Human’s Lib’ album. Back then it was electro gold. Something different and blissful to my ears. Well to me it was. Lol. ‘Don’t Always Look at the Rain’ on that album, got me through that period. Then it was Madonna lol But yeah Howard is an amazing artist. ‘No One Is To Blame’ his biggest hit in the US, is from the same album as this reaction. It was re-recorded with Phil Colins on drums and backing vocals. It’s a ballad masterpiece. That too is a brilliant album. Awesome reaction.🙏🏼
You should have a 80's party!! Here in Sweden we have them all the time; Dress up in shoulderpads and pink, short skirts and lot of hairspray and just enjoy in lots of music from the eigthies!! So much ffun!!😁😁👍
Dereck; glad you heard the “instrumental bliss” as you referred to it. I agree 💯 which is why I love early to mid 80s melodic, danceable synthpop music so much. I highly recommend another track from Howard which might cause your bananas to fly out the window. It’s called “New Song” and it was his first big hit. It’s so good!
Brilliant Howard!!! You got to listen another gems of him, "Pearl in The Shell", "What is Love", "Look Mama", "No One Is to Blame", all excellent songs
I have loved his music since the 80s, he's an amazing artist. Many songs have been named already in the comments, make sure to check out "Hide and Seek", one of the most beautiful synth ballads ever written. And one should mention that Phil Collins played drums on "No One is to Blame". Other personal favorites are "Life in a Day", "The Prisoner", "New Song" and "Always Asking Questions"
Our secondary school (11-16yrs) was one of the winners of a compatition and the prize was Howard Jones came to do a small concert.he brought his dancer who was painted half black and half white and he had his chains.
I’m so glad , I grew up ⬆️ n the 80’s and 90’s music from that time was INCREDIBLE, EPIC, EXCELLENT, thanks 🙏 for posting this Howard’s Jones MASTERPIECE, you took me back on time , I love ❤️ it 🙏👏💯🇨🇺🇺🇸
Cool, Derek, thanks for reacting to HoJo. His "Like To Get To Know You Well" is nice, too, and a personal fave. If you haven't heard yet, pls also check out "Don't Disturb This Groove" by The System -- groovy tune, great production.
I first saw Howard Jones perform in the 80s and then again a few years ago and I was blown away by how good he still was. I'd definitely see him again next time he's touring.
He had so many great songs! You should also go down the rabbit hole of new 80s/vaporwave/synth pop sounding bands! I highly recommend Drab Majesty~Dot in the sky! You won’t be sorry!
Oh Dereck I am delighted that you have finally reacted to a Howard Jones song & what a great track!!! Please react to 'What is Love?', 'Hide & Seek', 'Like to get the know you well' the list goes on!!! For me Howard was my favourite as a teenager and remember so well going to see him live at Wembley Arena such a talented musician!!
As always I really appreciate your expressions as well as you body language. I watch with my younger non verbal autistic son as insight into what emotions look like. I do this since I think he "feels" music and it is a universal language. He love sampling music and will often play snippets as language. This is why I appreciate you also explaining - this instrument here builds this moment, this violin here expresses this. It also give us common ground to work with his music therapist. I just want to say a big thank you on many levels for your great channel. From my high school morning mix tape, Things can only get better. ❤️
Please play Howard Jones "What is Love" and "New song". You will love those also! Howard does all the keyboard playing. Many during that era (80's) said Howard was one of the best keyboard players. I saw him live in San Francisco in the 80's and everyone was standing on their chairs and having a great time. Howard is a "feel good" music for all to enjoy!
Love Howard! My favourite album for years was his 12" album - all his best stuff extended. And of course, as well as being a vocalist, he plays synths. Many, many synths! And if you liked this one, you'd love "Pearl in the Shell". Mesmerising beat!

Factoid: Howard, a Brit (his parents are Welsh), spent part of his child/teen years in Hamilton, ON, Canada.
I like this song. It’s so catchy

I also loves that he absorbs your terms about music structure, themes, arrangements and such. Plus it helps him think mom's music isn't so bad.
Love Howard Jones, saw him in concert many times, please keep reacting to him, he has great songs.
WHAT IS LOVE? extended version
All his stuff was good.
*we could've used a Guy like you in the 80s! No doubt you'd have the best House parties!*
"PEARL IN A SHELL" by Howard should be your Next Reaction !
One of the very first singles I bought in my youth. Still a classic!

Ok. 80s. Bass. Keyboard. I think Level 42 but do a live one, if you can get by the copyright police. 😁

Music was better in the 80's, the song hit U.S. #5 in 1985. He looks like a young Gordon Ramsey. Great song!
What is love, New song and the Prisoner my 3 favourite from him.
If you wonder where you heard it before, probably it'd be the 2006 remix by Eric Prydz > ua-cam.com/video/J7EMTyMWSEU/v-deo.html
