Gloria and Joey later moved back to New York and Gloria became a Veterinary assistant. The only reason they had Mike and Gloria divorce was because Rob Reiner didn't want to be on the show anymore, due to being more interested in directing.
usually when an actor portrays a character as great as Archie Bunker he gets typecast and it’s hard 2 see them in another role. it’s a great credit to Carrol O’Connor’s talent that he was able 2 portray another character (Heat of the Night)and b just as good.

Instead, Meathead becomes belligerent, condescending, and insulting, calling him "ignorant". Archie should've booted his ass out of the house immediately for that remark.
