@Ken Lompart can't defend Mike for cheating. Trump did the same thing. Being in a professional environment attracts women. Something about a man in a suit and tie and a fat wallet. The loading docks repels women who are of the attractive nature.
@Nathaniel Lionheart some of what you say I agree. Protest stopped the Viet nam war. Protest ended the draft. Hopefully protest will stop the rotten cops from killing unarmed people. I am proud of people who protest for those who have less or are not treated fairly. Protests in 500 us cities. Violence in a very few cities. The ones that we all know by name.
I just came home for lunch with what we Rhode Islanders call a grinder (an Italian hero/sub sandwich). I took a couple of bites and remembered this scene. The look on Mike's face - he was starting to salivate over Archie's sandwich description.
I think Carroll O'Connor picked up that style from Leo Gorcey, the old Bowery Boys, he always used to take words and twist them around like that
Alot of older folks talk like that. Just the way it was
He also mixed a little Jackie Gleason into his act, he was fond of the Honeymooners
There was a stand up named Norm Crosby who always getting words wrong.
Tom g: an example: he always said a perpendicular situation when he meant a peculiar(or particular) situation.
I loved the dynamic between Archie and Mike!
I admire Mike’s patience, lol
the close-ups on their faces back and forth is like something out of a Sergio Leone Western.
I watched this show as a kid and now I’m as old as Archie is here. WTF !!
I know the feeling. It happened too fast!
omg
what hapened
O' Connor was a much more sophisticated man but was able to channel others he met in his life to portray Archie. Is that the method acting I've heard about
The look on ol meathead with his mouth hangin open, and Arch lookin desparate for a sammich has me rollin. I watched reruns of this and the jeffersons back in the mid 90s on upn44
I feel someone stare at me too.
I eat like Mike does, I'm a meathead.
I eat the same way too.
Me too!! Drove my parents up the wall😈
@@nicholasschroeder3678 And now my 8 year old eats like me. AHHH JEEEZ
Same here. And this segment always comes to mind while I eat, lol.
@@nicholasschroeder3678 The Same with me.
2021 needs these comedys they were the greatest!!!
Once a meathead STILL A MEATHEAD
@@kingy002 Commie lefttards are meatheads.
Absolutely
... Surely you mean Archie.
Rob reiner is a clueless communist piece of trash, meat head is the nicest name we could have given him............
@@jackieaumille254 Why did you use like 15 ellipses? What are you, dead above the neck or something?
I'm still impressed by the fact they kept a straight face through that entire scene 🤣🤣🤣
Shoulda said, "When ya eat the meat all separate like, then it goes to your head. That's the reason you became a meathead. The cure for bein a meathead is mixin things up."
Archie's lectures to Mike about how he does things are great. The best one was when Archie had a problem with the way Mike put his shoes on.
I forgot just how good O'Connor really was.
In many ways Archie is right things like sandwiches, pizza , & burritos taste great because the food is mixed. On the other hand when given a plate of food where everything was presented seprately I tend to eat like Mike all of one thing then all of the next savoring the full flavor of each item.
Best show ever. If anything could make me laugh. Those were days.
Don't forget Sanford & Son!!!! :)
And the Jeffersons!
It became apparent to me at 2:48 and the smirk on his face that they were ad libbing...especially the part about the "hero sandwich" as they were both smirking like they were up to something.
What Archie is saying does make sense. I remember my mom telling me the same thing about not to eat everything separately.
This was the best show ever! Everyone laughed on both sides… no one stopped speaking to you… the writers were geniuses in their writing! We don’t have this today sadly, everyone gets so upset!
I think I was 7 going on 8 as "All In The Family" was taking off. Now I'm 56. Where did the time go?
I’m going to turn 58 in October, I am asking myself the same question. This episode had me in stitches when Archie started to get angry and left the house.
It's sad when you realize you are older now than Archie was during the show.
Still watch,just love this show
The meathead doesn't appreciate Archie as the fountain of knowledge that he is.
I remember when Archie taught meathead how to put on his shoes.
The writers that came up with this shtick were brilliant
In one episode, something was troubling Archie. He said it was like an albacore around his neck.
lol… not a albatross….
Archie also admonished him once for putting mustard on his pretzel.
