    Hello. Thanks for this great video. It really helps me out.
    I have one question.
    As the pack is not waterproof I want to put one big dry bag inside to keep everything dry. (The Talon 26) What size would you recommend for a dry bag to fill the whole main compartment? Would that be a 30 liter drybag?
    Thank you!

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  3 роки тому +2

      A 30 litre drybag would work well, but I'd actually recommend lots of smaller drybags rather than one large one. It allows you to organise and separate your kit by colour. Plus, if one drybag gets damaged and leaks, it's only the contents of that small bag which will be affected. Here's the set I use: www.trekitt.co.uk/equipment/storage/exped-fold-drybag-bs-set-xs-l__35361

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  2 роки тому +1

      I'd personally go for the Kestrel. It's the more supportive option and tends to deal with weight better, albeit with a slight weight penalty. Harry

    A question - which to choose? Stratos 36 or Talon 36? I need help to choose.

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  2 роки тому +1

      The Stratos range is more supportive and better at dealing with heavier weights. Consequently, it's heavier itself. The Talon is lighter, more flexible and a lighter pack overall, but not as supportive.

    Great review. I have the Talon 33 but I mainly only do about 6 hours max in the mountains. I am thinking of going smaller to the 26. I am used to the buckle opening/closing system. Is the Zipped bucket opening system beter than the buckle system..any advantages/disadvantages to both? The one thing that puts me off the Zipped is tat its on a bity of a steep angle from the back to the front so if the pack is filled to the top and you open it some of the contents at the top could just fall out. You do mention in the video that you do prefer the Zipped bucket top

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  9 місяців тому

      Personal preference does come into play with preferred styles. You make a valid point about fully stuffed packs, but you don't have to open the pack all the way to access it, so can negate some of the issue that way. The Zip top can be easier to operate and looks a little cleaner, in practice I haven't really noticed any issues with either style lid, so if you think 26L is big enough I'd say go for it! Ben

    I still wonder between Talon 33 and 36. What would you consider to be the main differences between them? Is there any deal breakers or must haves in favor of 33 or 36?

      The 33 has a traditional top-loading lid whereas the 36 has a zipped entry. I would personally opt for the 36 as I prefer a zipped opening, but it's just personal preference really. Harry

    How do you store walking poles on this pack? (Not "stow on go system")

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  2 роки тому

      They can also be secured with the axe attachment points or just placed in the side mesh pockets with the compression straps holding them in. Just make sure the tips of the poles are covered, though. Harry

    • @madcat1007
      @madcat1007 2 роки тому

      @@trekitt Thanks Harry. I do not think the 26 has compression straps at the top of the pack, which would mean the poles would not be very secure in a mesh pocket. I have no idea how you would store poles in the ice axe attachment. Can you recommend a small similar sized pack which has 2 sets of compression straps on each side (like the Talon 36 has)?

  • @jays_vids
    @jays_vids 3 роки тому +2

    Great review. The hip belt doesn't look as comfortable as the previous Talon models and not sure how 'rainproof' that new zipped opening is - don't these seem like steps backwards?
    I feel like Osprey have a bad habit of making slight downgrades to good designs for no good reason (other than maybe saving themselves money).

    • @trekitt
      @trekitt  3 роки тому +3

      The 26 and 36 are just additions to the range - you can still get the 22 in a clamshell opening and the 33/44/55 in the usual top-loading design. This design is similarly weather-resistant to a clamshell opening, but I typically use drybags for peace of mind. Harry

    • @jays_vids
      @jays_vids 3 роки тому

      @@trekitt what's your opinion on the hip belt update? The previous version was more like the 'Anti-gravity' type, the padding on this (including the straps) looks way more basic.

    • @trekitt
