Just found your channel today. So glad I did. I love your way of doing this. You've got a new subscriber from an old (52) guy who's struggled to play for 30+ years. No natural talent here. But a huge love of guitar! And with help from you and Shutup And Play I am able to fake my way through some of the songs I love and amuse myself. The two of your are the best instructors I've found on YT. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these instructional videos. I hope u get enough views to make a few bucks in addition to getting our admiration for your talent. Keep up the good work. I like your positive vibe.

I learned this back in the 90s from tabliture in a guitar magazine wayyyy before Utube, smartphones or anything like that. Ofcorse I'm watching this on my 20th smartphone or more and way more cellphones. I didn't get a cellphone until 2000 or 2001. Odly I had a smartphone before anyone else I knew including my daughters and friends and other family around 2010 I never owned a computer though. Anyway this was an awesome song to learn way back then playing it with the cassette. Chris and Sound Garden was then awesome and still is today!

Since the recent success of my shoe idea, everyone has been asking me "what changes would you make to the computer keyboard?". Here is my answer:
The computer keyboard. For centuries, people have been typing away on the computer keyboard without ever stopping to ask "how could this be improved?". All along, the answer has been staring us in the face. All we need to do to optimise the computer keyboard is to implement these following changes:
I-a. We should flip over the q button along it's vertical axis to make an extra p button. The letter p is far superior to the letter q and so it would be very handy to have an extra p button on the keyboard.
I-b. Similarly, we should flip over the b button along it's horizontal axis to make yet another extra p button. This p button would then only be used in case of a serious emergency OR if one of the original p buttons breaks, as this would count as a serious emergency.
II. I would get rid of the number buttons altogether as they are just not very useful at all.
III. Since the number buttons are all gone, we should add one extra I button and two extra O buttons. Should the acute need to write a number arise, one would simply use I's and O's instead - for instance, instead of typing "I'll see you at 10:05", you would type "I'll see you at IO:OIIIII". Needless to say, this way of typing numbers is much easier and thus more efficient than the olden way. Also, having three O buttons might seem a bit out there, but just think of how useful they would be when typing words like 'boohoo' or 'woohoo'.
IIII. We should replace the spacebar with another R button. The reasons for this are plentiful:
    - Firstly, no one actually knows what the spacebar does. When you click the spacebar, the screen remains unchanged. What is a button that appears to do nothing good for?!
    - Secondly, the spacebar has been the greatest source of disappointment in my life. Whenever I click the spacebar, I do so in anticipation of being transported to a cool bar in outer space. This has not happened as of yet.
    - Thirdly, the spacebar takes up WAY too much space on the keyboard. I suspect this is the real reason it is called the 'spacebar'.
    - Fourthly, just imagine how useful it would be to both zombies AND pirates to have the spacebar replaced with an extra R button. It would effectively reduce the time it takes to type words like 'arrrrrrrrrgh' or 'grrrrrrrr' by IIIII0 percent!
IIIII. We should add a new button to the keyboard with a ? on it. This button would then be called the Mystery Button. No one knows what the Mystery Button does. Fun!
IIIIII. The letters P, R, O, P, R, I, O, C, E, P, T, I, O and N should be placed consecutively. This would make it much easier AND quicker to type the word 'proprioception', which, of course, is the best of all the words.
So there you have it! How to improve the computer keyboard in IIIIII steps! :)

Hi Ryan, I recently found some of your videos and really enjoy your vibe alot... I bet we'd have a great time hanging out, similar personalities and humor : ) gosh I don't know If you've got it in you to tackle this song in standard tuning, while adding all of those cool little licks in between chords but if you did... man that would be such a huge huge help. I don't like tuning my guitar to different tunings mainly because I enjoy flowing from one song to the next like a radio station when I jam out... is there any chance you would be willing to make another video on this song? This song just lights up my world to listen to, and I'd love to jam through it someday soon. ~Alvaro

Thanks, Pat. Great stuff. I was wondering about the latter part of the progression following the slide from the 3rd fret up to the 12th. From there you 'toggle' between an octave 'C' and then, as you instruct, use your pinky to on the G, B but not baby E strings. I actually bar the Baby E and B strings with my pinky on this cord and then do the same when sliding down to the 10th. Gives it a slightly diff character but I find it a lot easier to play. Sounds pretty good, too. Thoughts? Anyway, great lesson. Thanks :)

@@RyanLendt ....no dude....it really isn't. You even know what standard tuning is? Just because he didn't show you, doesn't mean he didn't change it earlier. He even said he had made a separate video of the tuning...which is CGCGGE. He also said he'll name the strings as standard, so you know which string to hit. You should pay attention...smart ass....ha, ha... standard tuning is EADGBE. Watch, listen, and learn....or try to play it in standard the way he's describing.... it'll suck.

When I was studying the Method at acting school. I was always taught the “character” is funniest when he does not know he is being funny. :) The first two notes sound like the beginning of Sweet home Alabama. I have been trying to learn to play songs by ear. Basicly training my ear? Is there any techniques you could recommend that would help me in that journey. That’s why I really love your channel. Because you are really a great teacher, plus I needed to learn some Pearl Jam songs pretty quick. Your teach them the best. I have found in here. At least for me.

Dude how did you get this tone?

    • @RyanLendt
      @RyanLendt  Рік тому +1

the crux of that tone is that ridiculous guitar which was frankensteined together from an old starcaster body that my buddies were abusing in effigy in their recording studio - we put some old pickups from one of my guitars in it and the rest is history. I believe i gave it to one of my students when I left the west coast.
