I can't believe you did whole video with a rain drop on your shirt! This channel has sunk to new lows. I'm just gonna shake my head and walk away. Also if you retort that it dried up and disappeared...I will only say that water may disappear but the scars remain. (Stupendous job sir, this one's an fest of amazing riff after amazing riff)
"We only have a little time to make a big mess, so let's make as big of a mess as we can." My favorite thing anyone has said all year! I love it. I'm totally stealing that.
I grew up in Minnesota and thought it was the coolest thing that a bad-ass song was able to use MN in the lyrics! It’s funny how certain songs can time warp you....... right back to winter of 8th grade doing things we shouldn’t have been doing, this song comes on and we all stop and listen. Such a great breakdown, thanks Ryan! And extra special thank you to Cornell, Matt F’n Cameron and both the Kims!!!
Great job. I’ve played this millions of times but never been able to get my head around what was going on with that extra ‘outshined’ beat toward the end. Thanks for solving the riddle for me 39 years later!
For some reason I’m not getting any notifications when you do a new song or live .... but this is my #1 SoundGarden song ... I blast it as loud as it can go every morning to start my day
If you watch Rick Beato's "What Makes This Song Great? Ep.62 SOUNDGARDEN #2" at around 1:30-3:00 (somewhere around there I forgot) it shows that both of the slides are played. The left channel is playing a slide from 10th fret to the nut, and the right channel is the opposite, 3rd fret to 12th I think. So playing both would be correct and that's why it's so darn confusing.
This is one I've tried to tackle before but couldn't get the timing. I still struggle with one part but your method of instruction is helping it all come together. Thanks Ryan!
(non sequitur alert) I've been playing from the red tees while I find my groove, still managing to shoot in the high 90's from there but feeling slowly more comfortable anyway. I graduated to the gray tees (seniors tees I suppose) yesterday and shot 87 with a string of 6 pars, so it's beginning to come together! I'm taking whatever club would be appropriate off the tee, mind you, not just bashing driver on a 287 yard par 4, trying to hit shots and choose approach yardages.
Awesome video. Thanks Ryan. I’m going to smiling all day!! Haha. Not only because I’ve been looking forward to this video.but also for my first ever shout out on YT haha! Dare I ask how you got the rain drop or do you need to fix a whole in the roof!!
haha I was happy to say your name (because again, you seem so very freakin' happy - I'd love to get a beer with you sometime) and was wondering if I'd said it before. guess not. glad it happened. And no my box turtles were outside and I was checking on them every so often - it was a deluge, but they love the rain. Cheers Simon!
Ryan Lendt sounds good to me. I owe you a beer or three for how much You’ve taught me over the last few years. So if you ever find yourself in the North East of England’s then look me up and if I’m ever in North Carolina I’ll do the same. We can talk PJ and other 90’s grunge music but my knowledge of turtles is limited! looking forward to more great videos. Cheers.
Thanks for the reply , I meant to tell you , this is one of the 1/st songs I learned to play because it means so much to me , and it’s written by Cornell to Andy Wood , which i can’t put in words ... There was a few parts that prior wasn’t clear to me but you knocked it out , perfect ... Thanks from the bottom of my heart .... what about ‘ half ‘ from superunknown ??
Hey, Ryan! I love your videos--very informative and helpful (and entertaining)! Have you ever considered doing some *Chevelle* and *Three Days Grace* songs? Some Chevelle tutorials would be pretty sick. 🤘
The pre-chorus section is weird, but was transcribed a bit differently in the tab book. That high A and F# are played on the 10th and 7th Street of the B string. Really like your videos by the way!
Great lesson, thank you :). Could you do Room a Thousand Years Wide or New Damage, also from Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger? By the way, I love your channel, keep up the wonderful work :D
One of my favorites from Soundgarden. Great job. Ill throw in a request for a lesson for some of Kurt Cobains acoustic demo stuff such as Sappy (sad) version or Do Re Mi. His Beetles cover of And I love her was cool to. I would like to see Hard Sun by Eddie Vedder sometime. I dont think I seen it on the playlist. Thanks for the geat lessons Ryan.
Is there any way to talk you into "Lonely Rider" by Volbeat? I would love to be able to play that song. It's not your usual, but it'll be good for you soul Mr. Lendt!
Hey Ryan! Been watching you vids for years now and want to ay a big cheers for your lessons and humour along the way! Just to validate your thoughts on how the pre-chorus goes, check out Rick Beato's "What Makes This Song Great Episode 62" at the 7:21 mark. He also breaks the song down so well and we get a great take on one of their best songs. Personally, the Loud Love Album is my fav and Hands All Over and Loud Love are my personal fav's. Keep up the grunge brosef!
Buddy I mastered no:1 zero by audioslave, ha ha, and I too have that long hair and now I dont feel like cutting it even post quarantine 😝, now learning now that we're dead by Metallica 👌
speaking of sounds, I currently have a 12 hour loop of sparrows chirping on in the background because I found a poor little shivering baby sparrow in the cold rain yesterday with no nest or parents anywhere in sight that I'm attempting to rehab - he is eating up a storm but needs to learn to speak the language of his people or else he won't be able to survive in the wild. I did a lot of reading about birds yesterday...
5/23/20. Drop D tuning: Drop Low E to D... I put out a new video last night with a famous conspiracy theorist who I find to be right a lot of the time. If you could check out my latest video called “Hey Ryan, Is Zinc The Key To The Cure?!” Thanks and take care, Ryan.
MM I want you to feel completely welcome to post the links to your videos in my comments section - and I greatly appreciate your erring on the side of treading lightly in that department. Your channel is a friend of this channel. Fire away buddy.
I see one dislike on this video. Jane, is that you? 🤨. Nice job buddy, but I was too distracted by seeing how long it took for the raindrop to disappear to learn anything

How did you look in Minnesota?
@@DaveTaste It's not about how you look in MN - it's about how you FEEL.
In CA it's about how you look . ;)

funny how the little things escape us :) cheers Steve

I'm so glad to hear it thanks RR :)
Awesome, thanks Ryan. Undoubtedly I will be making a huge mess at trying to master this later on :) Great job 👍
you have my permission to make a mess Chris :P
I felt Minnesota before I watched, and now def feeling California...thx!

Awesome lesson! I never could figure out the prechorus well. Thanks! Can you do a lesson for Hands All Over?
Great suggestion!
aaah this is one of my favourite Soundgarden songs!!! so excited, thank you! :-)
you are most welcome Starch!
Hey man you helped me get a few songs right and helped me learn some new ones thank you I have one request (bark at the moon /ozzy)
I'm so glad you found some stuff you were looking for QG - thanks for the ozzy request!
how about the chris cornell solo ‘campfire’ version of be yourself?
love that idea thank you so much Hayden :)
oh, no. thank you brother lol
good idea hayden
That's some good tone, good lesson too
thanks Shak!
I dont know if chris wrote the riff but Soundgarden as a band uses every odd time signature known lol. Their riffs are iconic tho. Great lesson bud.

I think the prechorus allows for some artistic leeway - it's a very very strange part indeed and gave me fits. I just had to pick one and move on :)
and hey thanks Darren!
Nice lesson, thanks. This is my favourite from Outshined. Could you do Chris Cornell's Through The Window one day?

Awesome 👌🏽 Any chance you could teach A Distorted Reality by Elliott Smith??? Been meaning to find a decent tutorial for it but I mainly use yours!
I love ES - one of his songs came on my shuffle lately and I was wondering why I've only done one of his tunes :(!
