How to update your Nissan Navigation system

- Once you have downloaded the Map Update tool to your Mac or PC, follow these steps to update a map in your Nissan’s Navigation System:
Open the Map Update Tool application on your computer, and insert your USB stick.
Select “Map Updates,” then select “Update Map” next to each map that you want to update. Drivers can update and download multiple maps at a time. To cancel a download, select “Cancel.”
After downloading the map, remove the USB stick and then insert it into your vehicle’s Navigation System where the directions will pop up for you to follow along on the screen.

Agree, greedy pricks. So you cant get update on your road network without paying a pretty chunk of cash.
@@JasonGillett Thanks for the info. I think it's incredibly greedy for Nissan to charge $129 (USD) for this update. My Dad needs the update because he can't use his phone due to not having unlimited data, but at this rate it's almost worth it to spring for unlimited data instead of having to get a Nissan update every year (they're building stuff around here constantly, so stuff changes every month). 😡

Absolutely ridiculous to spend $160 for a GPS update! You can get a really good GPS for that money w/Lifetime updates. Thank God I have a GPS that gets free updates every year! Spend all that money for a vehicle only to get bent over every year for something that should be free!!!

What's stopping Nissan from just letting us put the map file on an SD card ourselves besides corporate greed? Are they seriously charging $120 for laggy bs navigation? Google Maps is way ahead of HERE. You might as well just get a phone mount and pull it up on your phone. The only thing that sucks is I HAVE to use the car navigation whenever I'm doing Instacart or DoorDash and I'm having service issues on my phone where the car doesn't need internet. Or if my phone randomly decides it wants to drop GPS signal like it does.

This review was done a while ago. I just followed your video and figured out the New Nissan Site. When I clicked on Map Updates, next screen looks like it wants me to download an APP to my cell phone/pc or mac. Not my Rogue. I will just leave this alone, besides I don't like having to pay for an update. I personally feel updates should be offered by the Dealer when Update Changes Occur. Also why did Nissan put this Map Update to put on your phone or other tech equipment. Nissan Stinks.
But thanks for your video, at least I was able to walk through it and find out I was not happy with Nissan site.

Its all about money. I was told my '14 Rogue isn't eligible anymore for UConnect which is the app they want you to use because it all changed to 4G in 2018 so anyone owning anything under that is SOL.😂

If you have a 2018 to new Nissan GPS updates are FREE!! It sucks because I have as 2017 Rogue.
Perhaps that's true with certain models. On the 2019 Pathfinder, the updated maps SD card costs $129+.

I purchased Nissan Pathfinder 2018 from USA, and I shipped it to Sultanate of Oman. The navigation SD Card is available but it has USA Map. I'm looking for GCC Map data.

So my navigation stopped working, and it seems to have happened as my 60,000 km warranty was up. Coincendence - I think NOT. I am sooooooo disappointed with Nissan. This is my 3rd Altima, and it will be my LAST. The system was sending me texts from 4 or 5 years ago, and also trying to get me to up load a Google number - but there is no way to do that. NOT HAPPY
P.S. I just bet that if I purchased the EXTENDED warranty at $2K everything would then work. Just sayin

I'm in New Zealand, my vehicle is not 20 months old. On contacting Nissan online, I receive the following response this morning... Hi Steven, With regards to map updates, Nissan are pretty slack. They come in the form of an SD card that is just switched over. Being 2018, I would imagine your maps are at the most recent update, but if you are able to pop in, we can check this. Highly Suggestible I just think that an SD card making your blood boil seems a bit over the top. There are so many things that are more important in life than something like this.
I see it often people getting upset over things that are so small and taking to the internet to vent. In this case you came to my UA-cam page, left a comment that you are from around the world and that a parts person offered to help if you pop by.
I uploaded this just to maybe help people out as a hobby.

Yeah Nissan kind of sucks for this, they don’t give free updates. However I’m not sure which I would prefer is now the manufacturers are charging a subscription for navigation so you can’t even just pay once you have to pay monthly

My Nissan mica had a flat batterie so I called out the AA he got me started next day when I went to use my satnav I little note pops up it says insert card I rang Nissan garage and was told £180 to reboot and check electrics

I had this happen to me if you look on the bottom right hand side of your sat nav you will see your sim card has popped out just push it in Bingo
