    We live in the mountains, and you really have to be ready to control the wheel because going the speed limit of 55 or greater it doesn't catch the sharp turns fast enough and will go into the next lane. It seemed to want to correct AFTER it crosses the lines but of course I couldn't assume that or wait to see if it does. Also if lines are very worn and parts missing can make it delay the turn too much... But for good roads, gentle curves it works great and the intelligent cruise control is VERY great here because in all my other cars I could never use it because so many people keep changing speeds because they don't know how to handle the curves. Now I can use it almost all the time. Another safety feature is when it is storming it cancels the assist which is a good thing because you don't need to spin out.

      yes certainly if your on the road with a lot of turns I wouldnt use it

    Have done about 3000 km with this feature.... Had it turn off randomly on curves despite clear lines a few times... very dangerous.
    My advise is to be extra extra vigilant in construction 🚧 zones and curves.

    I can tell you this, that when it goes around corners that are 50-55 miles an hour sometimes it will actually throw you off the road. Be careful. It almost threw me into a bridge. The other thing is that sometimes when you cross an intersection and the lovely roads lines do not match up, it causes all kinds of problems too.

      I would still make sure I steer when cornering

    My main question for something like this technology, which I haven't seen answered anywhere, is how does it deal with someone stopping hard in front of you. I mean, if your foot is off the break (which I assume is the point of ICC) then how is a driver meant (if at all) to stop in time?
    I was just recently (a few months ago) in a car accident that broke my femur in my leg and am kind of timid to start driving again.. I think something like this could go a long way to helping me with all the safety features, but still am unsure of how it would handle specific situations, such as other people doing dumb things.

    • @carsunlocked
      @carsunlocked  4 місяці тому +2

      Hard for me to demo for you as I would be risking my own safety however the Forward collision sensor notifies you immediately with a beep in applies the brakes pretty hard when someone slices in front of you

    • @cnbkyn4139
      @cnbkyn4139 2 місяці тому

      It works perfectly really. It’s not over reacting while making sure you don’t crash. It even slightly slows you down when detecting potential hazard like a pedestrian too close to the road etc.

      @@carsunlocked All I can add is today I was doing almost 30mph in my new to me 8 month old nissan leaf and this guy in front of me was about to turn onto a petrol station. It was obvious to me that he was going to get on to the forecourt clearly so I carried on as he slowed down with the plan to maybe move wide if needed ( you know that thing we all do from time to time but probably are not supposed to) . Let's just say that collision sensor is on all the time and it did not like what I was doing. Although I was not going to crash it became apparent the car didn't have as much faith in my abilities as I did, and it slowed right down... fast... so fast that my heart skipped a beat and my underpants changed colour. The breaking was very "resistive" if that makes sense, as in it felt like the motors were taking all the load rather than friction from the breaks. The car did not come to a complete halt, as the vehicle in front was moving and just slowing right down. I will drive more carefully in future lol.

    A lot of people are complaining about their brakes wearing out very early. I'm thinking this might be the reason.

    • @carsunlocked
      @carsunlocked  5 місяців тому

      sometimes it hits the breaks pretty hard because of the sensor

      @@carsunlocked I was thinking it was because ProPilot uses the brakes to do the steering it's using the brakes all the time.

    • @carsunlocked
      @carsunlocked  5 місяців тому

      @@ClassicFIHD it certainly applies the brakes hard if someone cuts you off

    • @ClassicFIHD
      @ClassicFIHD 5 місяців тому

      @@carsunlocked Yes, I know, I have one. But that causes very little brake wear compared to constant usages to turn the vehicle and maintain lane center when using the ProPilot.

    I find the car wanders within the lane just enough to be annoying and enough that I am constantly fighting to correct. But I use it, and fight it, because it is a good "co-pilot" assist in case I have to sneeze or get drowsy etc
