- ONLY WORKS ON 2018 AND NEWER! If you own a 2018 Nissan or newer that no longer has an SD card, you can update the navigation system over wifi (see my previous video) or via USB. This video goes over how to update via USB.

I have a 2020 Rogue. I'm following your video for the update but when I get to putting the USB in my computer, I get the message my navigation system is not registered. How do I register it?
Robert, I got the same message that "devise is not yet registered" I went to car twice but still same message. How did you register your device. Going throught the steps in the car does not help. It leaves the tomtom file but still does not open update app.

You did a 2017.04 update 9 in 2020. Should have actually clicked on Add-Maps and done Full Map Reset which would give you the 2020 or newer maps. Nissan's Map system is so poor that it won't update to the next year vi WIFI or USB unless you do a full map reset. I even got a brand new head unit (replaced last week) and it came pre-installed with the 2017 maps still. FYI
Apparently after 5 years you cannot update anymore.
How much time does it took you installing the full reset on the car?
Hi Robert, I am living in Vancouver BC and I am trying to update my 2019 Nissan Qashqai map. I followed your instruction to save the map to a USB, then going to the weblink you noted, but I did not have the option to select which map to update, I only had the option to do the "Full Map Reset and Update" and it is for North America. After I finished downloaded the Full map reset & update to the USB - North America, when I plugged the USB to my car, the file was not recognized and I was unable to install the new map to the car. Any suggestions to help with this?

What did you mean, have your car sync to house wifi 1st? How? And is this required for the Nissan site page to "identify" vehicle system? Also is the car running, or just accessories on while this is being done? Very helpful info 👍🏼
Hi David, to sync the wifi with the house, follow this: ua-cam.com/video/XPQGp-chTd4/v-deo.html. You vehicle can be either running or accessories on. Either way will work. You do need to initially connect to wifi when doing the first transfer to USB in order for everything to work properly.

Hi Robert great information, I used this when I purchased my new Murano in March, worked perfectly. Question for you: My GPS will not take you directly to the house address, it takes you to the street and then says you have arrived at your destination, but the house you are going to may be half way down the street. I have a 7 year old Garmin portable that takes me directly to the exact house number. Why won't my Murano GPS take me to the exact house number? Have you heard of this with any other Nissans?

Does this work for 2014 pathfinder? Or too old? I have no usb, do I just get a revalue one at Walmart or is it a special one? I bought this used.
Hi, what USB format did you used? Been formatting 3 usb already, all are working, im formatting the drive with mac via exfat. It's not reading the USB.
For the USB, I didn't format it. I just took a USB out of the package, plugged it in and used that. I used a windows based computer for the upgrade.

hi Robert my 2018 kicks doesn't have the arrows to scroll through settings on the driver assist display, it just has left and right to change songs, what could be the reason and what do i do to access settings such as when to auto-lock the doors, sensors and stuff.
Hi Ali, what trim level of the Kicks do you have? It sounds like you have an S which does have limited functionality compared to the other trims.

If your Kicks has a navigation system, then yes. In Canada, none of the Kicks have a navigation system but all of the 2021 Kicks models in Canada have Apple Car Play & Android Auto.

@@fullmetal8518 I’m not aware of any way to do this. You may be able to by putting in a new infotainment system. A new Nissan infotainment system is about $5k-$6k

Unfortunately the Pathfinder is one of the few vehicles that this won’t work with as it still uses an SD card for the maps. The new 2022 Pathfinder will be able to update via wifi or USB, but any current model does not offer this as an option. Sorry, I wish I had a better response for you.

@@Shoaibexpert the only way to update your navigation is to purchase a new SD card. Nissan recommends doing this annually, but I only recommend doing it every 5-6 years. It’s about $200 and is done online

Robert I had spoken with you a few minutes ago re the error message 'your device is not yet registered'. You had indicated you hadn't heard of it before yet below I see several others have had the same error. Could it be that my Quashqai is too new?

Hi Joe, in order to update your navigation you would need to purchase a new SD card from Nissan.

@@shannonhortman4855 hi Shannon, the spot for your SD card, is right next to the CD player. It should say SD on it and that small piece is just a cover over the SD card.

Hey, I have a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder. The maps reside on an SD card. Can you tell me if this method will update the maps on the SD card or am I going to have to buy a new SD card at $109 from the Nissan site?
Unfortunately, because you have an SD card, this method will not work for you. It will only work on the 2022 Pathfinder and newer.
I have a 2018 Maxima and do not have the "System Information" option to take me to the map update process. Is anyone else finding this? I have Android Auto enabled; could this be inhibiting or overriding the process?

To clarify the description of this video, "If you own a 2018 Nissan or newer that no longer has an SD card" is trying to say "If you own a 2018 or newer Nissan that is not equipped with an SD card" then you can update its navigation system over wifi or USB.
The 2018 LEAF is a car model equipped with an SD card slot that must have an SD card in it to work properly. I bought a LEAF that is missing the SD card. I saw this description and thought, "oh great! My '2018 Nissan no longer has an SD card' so this video will show me how to get it to work!" No.
If I buy new Nissan with navigation, will I need to pay extra for navigation maps and guidance after a few years such as a monthly or annual subscription fee???
To the best of my knowledge, there is no subscription or update fee.
Hi Robert, I can select "Navigation System", select "info" but don't see "System Information" in my Nissan Murano 2017.5. I can't see software update or map update, what can I do? I have have Apple Car Play, is there any option to use your instruction
Hi Tapan, unfortunately your Murano does not have this capability. As mentioned in the video and the description, this only became available for 2018 and above models that are equipped with Apple Car Play and Andriod Auto. Sorry

I’m not entirely sure. If you have a navigation and do not have an SD card, I do have two separate videos on how to update the navigation. One by Wi-Fi and the other by USB. In North America, the kids does not have navigation.

Hi Harbi, unfortunately this won’t work on your Murano. As stated in the description, it would need to be a 2018 or newer for this to work. To update yours, you need to purchase a new SD card. The link is in the description

I just purchased a 2016 Nissan Maxima. I noticed it does not have an SD card installed which eliminates a lot of the features of the car and does not save any settings at all. Basically reboot at every start up. If I did what you do in your video, would it fix my issue?

The Map Update Tool says my 2019 Rogue is no longer eligible for any updates after June 2022. Something about the software being too old to update. It seems to have the 2017.04 maps, as yours did. This is bad. Any suggestions?

If you have navigation system in there and it’s run by an SD card the only way to update it is to buy a new SD card. He would have to get in touch with Nissan about that.

Unfortunately not as your Murano has an SD card. It will only work on the vehicles without an SD card.

Hi - Have you heard of the older 2016 plate Nissan Qashqai having issues with the firmware - apparently it's a well know problem and you have to do an install either with Nissan or at home - do you have a video of that and the files that are required?
The symptoms of this are as follows.
GPS system completely restarts for no reason.
Stops playing music and radio for no reason.
No sounds from the unit at all and then comes back to life.
Unfortunately I have not heard of this and don’t have a video for it. Here in North America, Canada in particular, we have only had the Qashqai since June of 2017. You must be speaking about the European model.

You can do it over wifi. Connect to a wifi source, click on info, go to the right screen and select system information. From there, check for updates.
i just got a 2017 altima and when i plug in my phone cable it won’t play music and it also won’t let me use bluetooth if my phone is plugged in so i can’t charge it while using bluetooth. is there anything i can do for that?
I’ve never heard of the Bluetooth not working when plugged in. You may need to contact your local dealership. You can try to press and hold your radio power button to see if it does a hard reset.

Where is the info and system update for 2020 pathfinder. Map doesn't have info on bottom. There is a button but no system information and subsequent map update options. Can you post a video with 2020 pathfinder?

Is this working for 2018 Nissan Titan?
I don’t believe it started working with the Titan until 2019. The fastest way to check is directly above the screen next to the CD player if there is an SD card. If there’s no SD card then this will work. If there is an SD card it will not.
Hey, question I have a 2020 Murano when I try and update the maps like your video the map update tool tells me my vehicle subscription is expired for map updates.
I also tried updating over WiFi and it shows an error. My system version is still 0810 and says it's the latest one
Interesting, I’m gonna have to test this with the 2020 preowned that we have on our lot. I’ve never seen anything come up saying that the updates have expired so I’ll let you know what I find out.

Hi Maggie, unfortunately, to the best of my knowledge, there is no way to change just the screen without changing the entire unit. However, you may be able to get a secondhand unit at a scrapyard somewhere with one that’s working perfectly fine. That’s probably the most cost-effective option.

Unfortunately not, any vehicle that has an SD card cannot be updated by USB or Wifi. It must have a new SD card to get the update

Not sure why I have to pay $150 to update my maps I have a 2017 Nissan rogue everyone else seems to be able to do it via Wi-Fi or USB for free
@@sheilast.hilaire1217 in 2017 the Rogue still had an SD card running the navigation system. In 2018, when they introduced Apple Car Play and Android Auto, they got away from the SD card and moved to an internal hard drive. This allows over the air updates where the SD card is write protected and cannot be updated, it must be replaced.

Apparently free updates stop at 5 years. My 2018 stopped June 1, 2022 Maps in the car are all 2017.5
The PC app told me I needed a full system reset and update, 16GB, but it didn't work when I went to the car (downloaded fine ~4 hours)
Then, looking at the App I found the June 1, 2022 stop date.

The updates did not become available on the Qashqai until 2019. That was the same time they introduced Apple Car Play and Android Auto

For maps outside of North America, please contact your local Nissan dealership. They should be able to help you order new ones.

Unfortunately the only way to update your navigation is to buy a new SD card from Nissan.

@@parrishthomas92 hi Parrish, I don’t have a video on the SD cards. You should be able to check your version from inside the card and compare it to the version online. The online version should be a fair bit more up to date.
how about the old model Pathfinder 2013?
As mentioned in the video, this only works for 2018 and newer models and unfortunately not the Pathfinder. The first Pathfinder that this will work on will be the 2022 model. All prior models have an SD card and therefore need a new SD card ordered through Nissan to update the navigation

Unfortunately not. The first time this became available in the Pathfinder was with the redesign in 2022.

Unfortunately not through this method. The only way for you to update your map on a 2017 Pathfinder is to purchase an up to date SD card from Nissan.
At the 2:15 minute point of your video - it states Navigation Device NOT YET REGISTERED. In the video you say "make sure you go through the process to get this all Registered", and you make a comment at the 3:10 minute point of your video you state "and I am going to work through how to get this registered" *** but you don't explain how to do this or refer to another video on how to do this. Obviously you figured it out but didn't explain how you got it registered. I have no idea how you did this.
Note: I have a wifi connection on my 2020 Nissan Rogue SV Tech & of course have a wifi connection on my home computer.
I looked through the 168 Comments on your video and a number of other people had the same problem but nowhere have I found how to do this. *** "make sure you go through the process to get this all Registered" ***
Also, I didn't know there was a limit of the car's Navigation System of 19.83 GB. Perhaps you may know how to increase this limit by purchasing more memory & replacing the memory chip that is currently in the vehicle. And if you can purchase a memory chip, how and where you would install it. Thank you for your help.

If you’re Qashqai doesn’t already have NAV, you can upgrade the infotainment system, but the cost is north of $6,000

Why has Nissan not updated the maps since 2020, I have a 2023 Maxima with a 2019 map?
Unfortunately I don’t have an answer for you. You’ll need to contact Nissan directly for that. As a sales rep, I do the videos I do for the benefit of my customers. They are on a public platform so that they can also help anyone else who needs them. If you’re driving a 2023 with 2019 maps, I would ask your sales rep why they weren’t updated prior to you picking up your new vehicle.

@@steveresendes2201 You’ll need to go out to Nissan’s website and purchase a new SD card for your vehicle. Make sure you have your Vin on hand when you do so as it is Vin specific.
Any hope for Infiniti Q50?
I’m not as familiar with the Infiniti side of the business, but I suspect it works the same. If it has an SD card, this method won’t work.

help, this doesn't seem to work on my vehicle, a 2020 Pathfinder. I cannot get to a screen that allows me to follow this path Settings>Info>Sys Info>Map Update etc. My screen looks nothing like yours
This doesn’t work for the 2020 Pathfinder, sorry. It didn’t start working on the Pathfinder until the 2022 redesign.

ONLY WORKS ON 2018 AND NEWER! If you own a 2018 Nissan or newer that no longer has an SD card, you can update the navigation system over wifi (see my previous video) or via USB. This video goes over how to update via USB.

Tomas, As per the video, you would need to purchase a new SD card in order to upgrade your navigation system. Please let me know if you have any further questions
@@RobertTigheCars thanks, I was searching on google and these cards are all like £100. Any smartphone can connect to google maps for free with always up to date maps. I find this rediculous that they are asking such a money for it.

@@RobertTigheCars earlier 2018 model does not mirror one's phone to project Google maps for trips?
@@jsavak99 only a couple of models were equipped with Apple Car Play or Android Auto in 2018. Prior to that, none of the Nissan models had the capability to show the maps from your phone

@@jsavak99 the Rogue Sport, or Qashqai here in Canada, did not get Apple Car Play and Android Auto until 2019.
