It's always good to teach something about digital literacy, scams only lives for as long as people falls for them. Being skeptical and doing cross research is always a good practice
That was hilarious Trogly, The people who do it for real are the worst kind of scum. I’ve been contacted at least twice if not more and I do watch your show every day. What always gets me is if they put that much effort into something legitimate they could make a living.
According to the scammers I have wonned 100 prizes in total 😂
For real though... They could be making a decent living if they channeled all that effort into something worthwhile. I thought I was the only one who ever noticed the irony of scammers lol

First it’s the 3 calls a day telling me my car warranty has expired, and the ‘apology’ from my electric utility company, and now another ‘you have already won’ scam…Stop the insanity!!

Very entertaining, Austin! So glad you brught this to light for us. Honestly, I almost fell for these scams so it's frustrating. They all should serve at least 10 years in prison.
I enjoy watching your show but I will be honest I skip the sound demo most of the time just because the sound depends on the person playing and all the gear they use so it would sound different through my rig. I do enjoy all the knowledge you share and that’s what I’m here for. I love deep diving into brands and their models like early Ibanez

@@arazos9394 yeah I’m not saying it’s bad. It is a good base line. It’s just a part of the video that I noticed I tended to zone out more on. I’d pay attention to the history and the parts and specs but not with the sound demo. Still watch every vid. I’d love to see him branch to other brands….. well maybe not, the prices for everything are already high lol
"What's your name and where are you located?" as their first question should be a red flag.

I have been contacted multiple time's by scammers claiming to be you, Darrell Braun, Guitar Max and other's. I only wish it was that easy to win a guitar. I always report this to youtube but it don't seem to help. Anyway, I love your show.

ive reported loads at one point, not one was removed. youtube are pretty, pretty scummy deep down. first of all its our tube, then suddenly its blatant whos tube it really is, then they cant remove a scammers post and potentially save a customer? yes we are the customer and theyre always forcing community guidelines down my neck whilst ignoring rip off merchants. "are you sure you want to post that, you said moron and that might not be nice!" yea, cheers for that.. youtube going after the big dogs saying mean names, its a joke.

One of those literally tried this on me a few days ago on your video with the Gibson demo shop. Its gone now, but I knew better than to reply to that.
Nice one! One point is that this scammer is trying to use high level social engineering. This is harassment, not just "spam" and should be reported to UA-cam as such.
I’ve had this happen through your comments a couple of times.
If there is not a degree is suspicion about anything on the internet then people will sadly fall for any scam.

Nice presentation. I have seen other channels do a PSA that belittle and degrade their supporters for informing them their identity has be stolen and is being used to scam. This gave me a chuckle - well done.
This is the same scam they tried to get me with on Spectre Sound Studio's.
I just talked to one on Facebook market place, offered a "free les paul epiphone" all you had todo was congratulate her on her new born baby and send her 30 bucks for shipping....totally Legit!

Have you ever used all the data you have on various guitars to do some weight distributions. Overall and by decade when you have large enough numbers. Also custom shop and standard. I have a 60s standard which weighs 8lb exactly I expects it is at least three standard deviations from the norm ie the 99% level or at least 1 in a 100.

I've talked to these scammers on a personal level and had a video chat with one of them.
They are kids who live in Abuja Nigeria and they do it from their houses. They guy i was talking to on video chat lived in a shit hole, and he showed me what it looked like outside his house. He totally lived on the shit end of town. This guy was 17 years old.
Damn Jimmy, missed out on the One of a kind, limited edition Gibson Les Paul “Dark Tiger”, only one scammer has it.
I’m embarrassed to admit, I was one of the original buyers of a dusk tiger straight out of the Gibson factory. I really thought I was making a great investment and getting a once in a lifetime guitar. That was a very tough life lesson 😓
That is a hard pill to swallow lol. I remember when they came out I was smh. The whole firebird x and robo tuner era was just strange. But I love 80’s shredder guitars and most don’t. My fluorescent yellow Jem with green and pink accents hanging next to my cherry es335 and my blonde tele definitely doesn’t bring the room together quite like the dudes carpet did in the in Big Lebowski but I love my Jem so I’ll live with it.
Just be glad you didn’t get the dark tiger.

Just had one of those Sweetwater scammers mess with me for there new pedalboard contest I reported them and kinda messed with the scammer a bit before blocking and reported them I’m kinda bummed “I’m don’t really win much and if I won the board I’d give it to my lead singer”

Got scammed last week. Everything was normal until it came to ship. Of course already had paid. The dude just kept the money.
Funny as, I’m sick of the scammers. They try quite regularly on several different channels.
I've been watching long enough to have bought two SGs and a melody maker pick guard with hardware. Plus a couple or so years ahead of those purchases. I'm one of them middle aged guys they don't want to deal with. I just want to know what gutitar looks like so when I see one I can easily identify it.
I follow a UA-cam channel from Pleasant Green, its about scammers, and he basically does what you did, and calls out these scammers.
This is great! I love people getting back at the shithead scammers!
I fear for the future of humanity when online crimes like this are out of reach of the law.
Studies have shown that getting the mark to complete simple tasks will build rapport and trust with the scammer and increases the likelihood of a successful scam. Or it could be used as content in other scams or for blackmail… the possibilities are endless!

To bust scams back in the day I'd get them to tell me what city they are in and I would amazingly have a brother in law who lives near by who could bring the money over right away. That throws them right off the rails.
I've been pinged by these guys before. Love that you used Jimmy Carter. I usually use Tim Drake or Damian Wayne on account of being a comic nerd named Robyn lol.

Quite literally today a comment of mine was replied to by one of these scammers. Looked suspiciously like one of the examples you showed. 🤣🤣

This is becoming the new "THING" on UA-cam. I report every single one of the replies and go to thier channel and report them as impersonators/scumbag scammers and UA-cam does nothing about them. I bookmark their pages to see when UA-cam shuts them down and so far not a single one gets shut down. I recently started sending links to the FTC hoping they will go after these scammers. I am going to contact the guy on UA-cam who gets these low life scammers and see what he can do to scam the scammers!
My family and I use What's App whenever we travel abroad to keep in touch. As long as there is wifi we can contact each other without needing to pay extra for long distance phone services.
