  • Paul Stamets - Psilocybin and Amanita: An Innocent Discovers the Infinite (Part 1 of 5)
I do not own the rights to this awesome presentation, which appears to be produced by Sound Photosynthesis. I acquired the DVD by donating to KPFA during a recent fund drive and am now sharing it with you. Stamets delivers a powerful message about the role of humans of Earth and says that "we are mushroom people." Enjoy this enlightening, super-informative, and often humorous presentation while you can. The presentation was given at a conference organized by the Mycology Society of San Francisco in 2000 (I think).

I've only a small handful of mushroom experiences, and NEVER deal in buying or selling them. However, I did discover mycology & "mushroom farming" as a hobby; relying on Paul Stamets' encyclopedic knowledge and extensive educational material. It's become simultaneously one of my most rewarding hobbies/obsessions as well as intellectually challenging and stimulating as a science as well as an art in cultivation.
It admittedly began with a curiosity to cultivation of psilocybe(psychoactive) species, but this was a gateway to the even more complex (and legally lucrative) world of study & cultivation of other medicinal/gourmet edible fungi.
Mycology and it's many avenues of active study are, again, a hugely rewarding field (even as a hobby) while still one of the greatly underappreciated and misunderstood alternatives to traditional modern horticulture or nature enthusiast collecting/studying

It can be pleasent or unpleasant, but they have benefits. They definitely reduced my anxiety after the fact. Its the after effects that I enjoy the most.

Reindeer (and women) have been used as 'filters' by Norsk / Suomi peoples for centuries.
By feeding a A. muscaria to the (herbivore) in large doses toxins are metabolised by their liver. The urine is then collected and consumed by the men who experience the psychodelic effects of the mushrooms but without nausea and supposedly much less chance of a bad trip.
      A primitive method of extraction.

I am not entirely disagreeing with you, but there is something wrong with the logic you stated. I agree that Mushrooms are something God given for those who were able to find and try them. But if you use the argument "if god didn't want so and so, we'd not have so an so". That logic implies than anything we have around us and anything we do is "God's will". I don't think wars, killing, sadism, rape are things God wants, so with can't know exactly what the purpose of Magic Mushrooms have gotten from God. Maybe it is not for us, humans, but maybe God just really cares more about the mushroom
