Before I started microdosing shrooms I was 250lb deeply depressed and a joke of a man. 1 year later I am a 180lb elite Calisthenics athlete, my baseline mood is a couple notches higher, my productivity is up, my panic attacks and anxiety are gone, my life is changed through and through
Update - 1 year later and my upward spiral continues. I have sacrificed some physical fitness for professional advancement, I now occupy the top position in my field after being in it for only 3 years, my panic attacks are completely gone, i believe I have experienced radical personality change (in the positive direction) I still occasionally micro-dose although very rarely, i know when I need it, it’s hard to explain.

The good thing about shrooms is its non addictive, the best experience I've EVER had on ANY drug was shrooms, I've been so happy my face literally hurt from smiling so much for so many hours, but but once the trip wears off the last thing I'm thinking about is dropping another trip, you need time to recover, the closest I'd ever had trips together were a week apart but usually months or years, having said that it's been 6yrs since the last time but certainly would again given the right time and setting

With all respect, thats like saying "there is no physical world. but the brain makes it so." but what good does that do. We still are forced to deal with the physical world everyday. Just the same as we are with the good and bad.
The cause does not negate the effect, it simply adds context.
Plus thoughts aren't the only thing. Animals that get beaten suffer from trauma, they shake, they can't function, stress levels are high which we know stress is terrible for any biological anatomy.
So yes there is good and bad. it's a product of evolution.
You could debate it philosophically, but you'd have to discard the very validity of experience.

    • @davyroger3773
      @davyroger3773 5 років тому +5

@@jamescarter4836 Our thoughts can trigger neurotransmitters which in turn create "feelings" that confirm our thoughts, kicking in a cycle of potentiation with thoughts and feeling interacting to create our subjective reality. This is why nothing is really good or bad, unless we perceive it as so.
Ever thought that something was happening or about to happen and started to panic? Only to realise it was a false alarm? Because you thought it , it was real in that moment. Our thoughts and beliefs are instrumental in shaping how we experience reality.
As to whether good and bad is a product of evolution, I'd say that's a view filtered through human perception, mother nature doesn't really know good or bad. When a lion mauls a Pregnant gazelle in our eyes it may be sad, but the lion is wired that way. We however, with our hyper evolved brains, have developed superior reasoning skills and also beliefs and can essentially distort reality to our benefit or detriment
Edit: you might actually be right that good and bad is a product of evolution, in a similar vein of how love is. its designed to help us survive. However in the 21st century a lot of those evolutionary circuits hinder us more than help. I think thats the main point of the saying

    • @jamescarter4836
      @jamescarter4836 5 років тому +3

@@davyroger3773 No disrespect again dude (important to say given the typical hostility of youtube debates.) but I'm a bit lost on how to reply to that. I'll break down why in the same order as your reply.
(this is all under the premise we have somewhat freedom of choice, to keep things simple.)
To your 1st and 2nd paragraph:
we're biologically programmed to respond to our external environment. our survival instincts right. thus triggering the emotional response, and only then comes our thoughts. So to say "unless we perceive it as so" assumes that we ultimately have agency over our instinctive responses. Thoughts can exacerbate or assuage these emotional responses but only reactively, not preemptively. Additionally, our very control is limited by the emotional response. for example, If we detect an urgent enough threat (regardless of wether its functionally or dysfunctionally) the prefrontal cortex can shut down and the amygdala takes over, inducing mental paralysis and panic.
To your 3rd paragraph and edit:
"mother nature" is too vague of a concept since we can consider us and all animals as features amongst the many of mother nature's. And saying "too our detriment or benefit" is implying there are good and bad things for us. I know you're only arguing good and bad in an ethical context but I'd challenge that our basic human ethics (like dont kill each other) stem from our survival instincts. So though our perceptions of good and bad may've become convoluted and conflicting as we've struggled to adapt synchronously to our increasingly complex environments *breath*
The origin of "good and bad" preceded rationality.
(fml i didn't mean to get into this much detail)
but to sum it up. It goes:
      Biological wiring>Instinct>emotion>thought
      >experience>ethics
      My point:
"Good and Bad" or "pleasure and suffer" or "benefit and detriment" derive from our very biology. Thus it's as "real" as it gets.
I'm sorry it just irks me to hear. cause you wouldn't walk up to a lady who's distraught, choking on her own tears over the loss of her child that her pain isn't real.

    • @davyroger3773
      @davyroger3773 5 років тому +2

      @@jamescarter4836
Our psychology isn't as black and white as that. for instance there's theories that our imagination, i.e visual thought can be used to stimulated attentiveness to our surroundings. For instance your walking alone in a forest and maybe you imagine an assailant taking you buy surprise, you may feel more aware of the environment and scan for threats which can be traced back to a release of norepinephrine triggered by the initial thought.
The point being that sometimes feelings follow thoughts and vice versa it's never always the same.
When I mentioned benefits and detriments it was strictly in terms of survival, although in modern society requirements for survival are far different that from when we developed our evolutionary networks.
For instance being ostracized by a group maybe 6 to 10,000 years ago meant certain death for one of our ancestors so we recognize that as "Bad". But to day society is set up in a way that one can fall in and out of social groups, create their own , or have none and still thrive all the same. So the concept of good and bad is completely relative and subjective to both environmental and societal forces.
And as you know our brains have not yet adapted to this strange environment. So how can we regulate the evolutionary mismatch between man and society? Conscious thought and perception. For instance because i am able to view lets say non conformism ( a precursor to ostracization) from a more cosmic perspective if you will, I can now detach it from human associations and view it just as it is without the evolutionary bias
And if i can control my thoughts I can regulate my feelings to a great degree. This can be observed by buddhist monks and meditators of up to 3 years. From a simple practice such as focusing on breath and non judgemental observation of thoughts (essentially nothing is good or bad, it just is, even death) Their MRI's show a significant decrease in amygdala size and increased brain matter in the prefrontal cortex. Giving them a greater control of their thoughts and emotions even in situations of great peril.
Forgive me for rambling but this topic is a very interesting one, i appreciate your insights. And i think where we can agree is that telling a grieving person to just focus on the good won't really work, you have to constantly train your brain for it to function in such a way.

Have a friend who just started microdosing about 4-5 months ago, and in such a short time it’s been CRAZY to see how much he has changed, for the better. Guy has been just incredibly positive and energetic and enthusiastic ever since he started, but he’s been so much more calm and collected in his thought and speech process. He said it’s given him such a deep understanding of his mind and his thoughts and emotions. So very very cool to see. Sadly, I do not believe the feds will ever truly allow any significant progress to be made in terms of psychedelics.

2G they’re not legal to purchase, no. Nor did I notice that they were any more widely available by people. They’re just less of a priority for law enforcement, and if possessing psilocybin is your ONLY crime, it’s not a high priority crime. If you’re popped for speeding or whatever and they find shrooms though, you can still technically be charged for it, at the officers discretion. It’s not “legal” as much as it just got knocked down to a very low priority for law enforcement.

I can attest to psilocybin's pain reducing benefits. Broke many bones over the last 10 yrs because of having up to 10 seizures a day (broke fingers, skull, toes, feet, arm, leg, knee, ankle, ribs and fractured neck and back. Had first signs of rheumatoid arthritis 20 years ago. I walked with more than a limp for many years (especially during cold weather). Constant pain for 20 years that ended 2 years ago after 1 healing session with psilocybin (not micro but not saying micro won't do same thing after months). 1 yr later ,when I felt it was time for another healing session, I felt the mushrooms were about to take effect so I decided to get up from couch, to get some water to drink during trip, and all the pain I used to have came back while walking to kitchen. I had to grab onto counter top to keep from falling. There I was trying to walk ten feet to kitchen and I couldn't walk even close to normal, probably looked like a 90 year old man with arthritis. The pain knocked the wind out of me! The thought that hit me was, "wow! I forgot about how much pain I used to constantly have!!!". And then it vanished again after maybe 30 seconds and all I was thinking was that I was given a reminder (since I had forgotten) of how much pain I was in for years so that I could tell others to try if needed or tell someone else that does need this healing. And of course my PTSD and depression is becoming nonexistent. Happy Healing

I've been microdosing for around 6 months. I play acustic guitar and i seem to be able to play whatever I can think of. I know some chords but I'm by no means great. Yet I can learn song by sound. I enjoy practicing now and seem to be more aware of different sound . I seem to feel sound. I have taken more than qaurter gram at once in 6 months. I also have anger problem and have been catching myself before I completely blow. I still get pissed but I talk to myself and make joke out of whatever got me pissed. Health seems same but I'm very healthy for 42. Also I have patience to work on my Harley without having to walk away because I'm pissed. It runs and looks great and it's finally done. I've been working on for 3 years and have done most of in last 6 months..

I have red-green colorblindness too, and i never knew that the phenomenon of "seeing tracers for 1-3 days after dosing" was something special to people with this problem.
I have a very hippie family who all gave us their own rundowns on what to expect. They said you should *ALWAYS* take the next day off no matter how much or little you take, just to recoup. They also said you may feel "a little raw for one to 3 days after, too".
I microdose once a week on Sundays. Its helped me go from a spiritually void person into someone who explores religious and spiritual texts. Its helped me feel more active and i get a lot of cleaning and outdoors work done, from gardening to shoveling snow for the elderly neighbors/landlord.
It also helps in painting. I never do fine detail work on any drug, i even limit my caffeine intake. But when im starting a painting, ill do the inital drawing, take my microdose, then get into the first layer of paint.
It does seem to help me think of better ways to portray shapes and silhouettes, and i get better color mixtures too. I wind up doing very little corrective work.
I also noticed taking vitamin A and complex B vitamins reduce tracers and other visual oddities from being noticed, but they're still there.
Though to be honest, i thought i saw tracers my entire life, so when i noticed them after tripping/microdoses, i didnt think much of it. But it makes me take dosing more seriously. I have my grocerys for the whole week already bought, i make sure i dont have appointments or obligations to meet. I avoid driving at all costs for at least 1-2 days. Ive made it work and i still see benefits from my "once weekly" method

How does it affect the brain over the long haul. My son has been on Adderall in the mornings and cannabis in the evenings for so many years that it’s affecting his way of thinking and his personality. He has become very wounded and narcissistic. I feel a part of his mind and personality has he’d damaged which is devastating as a mother. He’s just not rational, nor willing to work through it, or go to a professional to even do family counseling. I feel his whole perception is a skewed. In this lecture, it’s mentioned that some people can get off Adderall. Years ago, my son said he couldn’t get off Adderall because he felt too depressed when he was off of it. I just wonder how any substance that is taken over a long period affect brain. Very fascinating lecture!

PTSD. Every morning the same thoughts of tragedy and loss and the frustration of past event. Gone but close by at best. Now my mornings are more about the daily tasks. Those bed thoughts are more like a house I just don’t want to visit and have the control not to.

Kirstin Strand I know you’re suffering and don’t want to be attacked every morning with these pointless thoughts of the rotten past.
Shroom no doubt helped me break that chain. I can think of it but also turn away from it now. Easily change the thoughts. I feel so much better having control now. Shrooms did that. I took for about 10 months or so. Just a tiny amount twice a week. Thursday and Sunday mornings. I stopped Micro dosing 2 months ago and the effect has remained.
I say find a high end pot dealer who only sells 1oz bags min. He/she, might just know how to get shrooms. Do you know a farmer ? Shrooms grow naturally on cow pooh horse Pooh. I think you can buy a kit online too.
I tried it from the data for PTSD. That and there was no downside. Get as much as you can and twice a week take a little bit. If you notice color changes on your vision then cut back on the amount. You shouldn’t notice any high like reactions. I wish you a cure. It certainly helped me.
PS, there’s a reason the rearview mirror is smaller then the windshield. We can’t change the past but can Direct some of the future. I’m not a doctor, or professional in these matters. I just giving my experience and suggestions. I’ve tried many antidepressants but the thoughts never changed. Only my inner wellbeing was uplifted a bit.
I take Zoloft too. Just because my health is so poor as I lost my leg and damage some of my spine.
Certainly life is so much better without the daily thinking of blood and carnage. Also my older brothers are drunks and bullies. I’m 53 and still they treat me as a child. I had to scrap them off. Not easy for me but the other option was unending conflict. After doing that I am in a better place.

"Those of you who are into neuroanatomy and brain chemistry and all of the things that have not actually proved very useful yet, but you get those great pictures." As a medical doctor, this statement is so true! The functional MRIs, etc. simply lead to more theories about brain chemistry. Pick up a Physician's Desk Reference, the "bible" of medications, and you'll see all psychoactive drugs note the medicine "may" do this and that. All theory!

I believe I had past trauma I was holding on to and talking about it helps relieve some stress. I was getting tense and I hadn’t eaten and my blood sugar levels were driving me crazy so we meditated and spoke some positive things out loud and then we walked outside and so far I have learned that I had past trauma that was clinging on to me still. I know now that it’s deeper understanding that takes place when you try shrooms or even when you microdose like how I did

So if micro dosing works for shingles, has anyone looked at peripheral neuropathy in diabetics? I have read that there are some similarities between the two when it comes to pain and treatment. The treatments offered in Australia are antidepressants, opioids and an assortment of anti seizure medications that leave the patient sicker and more incapacitated than they already were as well as addicted to the medications. Micro dosing could be a major game changer for diabetics. Does anyone know of any research along these lines?

For 15 years I have been on debilitating medications for Cluster Headaches which didn't help with this extremely painful affliction. Oxygen was my go to abortive but you have to wait until you have an attack to use it and that was a minimum of twice a night, every night. I was cynical about any miracle treatment but was offered some magic mushrooms preserved in honey by my brother who knew a hippy that grew them. I was without pain for the first time in months after the first teaspoon of honey and had a half a cap the next 2 days. 5 days later and still no clusters. It will take me a while to adjust my mindset to a life without agony. I just feel great ! I still have to ween off steroids, antidepressants and very high dose of blood pressure tablets but I feel confident and calm about it. I really hope others can benefit from this wonderful, inexpensive natural medicine. Thankyou.

I have a corporate high stress position in the wine industry, heard about micro dosing, thought I’d give it a try at work in tiny doses instead of just occasional weekend fun. I started taking micro doses of mdma as part of my morning routine. Immediately the results at work were unbelievably fantastic. Senior management were applauding my new vigour and results. One manager even said whatever you’re doing bottle it and keep bringing it to work, of course I didn’t mention my secret and had a giggle to myself thinking if you only knew. A couple of weeks after starting my taboo experiment I was promoted to state manager. Truely a humbling adventure and a secret I kind of like having to myself as a female in a corporate world especially in the boardroom holding my own with all the powerful men. If you’re contemplating just try it you won’t regret it just make sure it really is 1/10 to a weekend dose otherwise things might get hairy.

Even though I didn't go cold turkey (I weened myself off the meds over a period of two weeks), and the specific medication was sold to me as "one of the safest and least addictive anti-depressants on the market", I still felt some withdrawal symptoms. Over the past seven years, my depression and anxiety have grown to debilitating levels. I cut all alcohol and most sugar out of diet about 8 months ago, and I started losing weight, but was still depressed. I needed to see a dentist and my anxiety was so bad, my doctor wanted to put me on BUSPAR. After doing some research on the drug, I decided to micro dose with psilocybin instead. I had the psilocybin source material and I mixed it with dark chocolate into 10 mcg lozenges. I took it once a day for a week straight and then tapered back to the 1 in 3 schedule. Since then, I've seen the dentist, mended some fences with my kids, and my days are much 'Better' than they were before. I will continue to do this as long as it continues to work.
