This is really awesome! I while ago, you had done a video showcasing JELOS, linking handheld to handheld without an internet connection. I’m curious, is this PortMaster update similar for that OS, or better yet, had the system to system connection been made possible on these OSes? The reason I ask is to get the best “one and done” OS for these handhelds. Still never bought one, but I am still interested in the RG ARC D, and RG 353P (for the form factors AND the optional Android)
An idea for Godot engine is that they could in theory fairly easily support these devices. They kind of support Raspberry Pi but this could be easily expanded. It would be really cool if the developers themselves where providing native ports of their games.
Hey Russ I love your videos and appreciate all your hard work! I had a skim through your written guide but didn’t see any mention of it….but does anything change regarding commercial installations if you are copying from a Steam Deck instead of Windows/Macos? I’m assuming not as long as you are careful about whether it’s a windows port using proton or a native Linux version but I was curious if you had any experience with it during the production of this video. Thanks!
Most of the PortMaster setups are written with Windows versions of the game in mind, just because that's the largest population. However most of the PortMaster devs are working within Linux and so they are often testing with the Linux versions of the games, which means that many will likely work when pulling the gamedata files from Steam Deck. In some cases you may have to use the Steam console commands to download the Windows version onto the Deck, that's the only exception I can think of!
