Nice video! But on the NHS you would do amalgam instead which speeds up the time! Composite would equate to a separate private charge!

Very valid point Dave! I guess that’s another video in its own right and to go into this topic on this video would have digressed off piste from the banding system somewhat…
However, I shall certainly make further videos to acknowledge what you mean though 🙌🏾

The point of the video is clear, the UDA pay system is a joke. But your not getting a direct composite on the LR7 under rubber dam on the NHS :) If your dentist does this kind of treatment, likely his nurse is earning more money than him.

Very true Sir Sambo (love the name)!
I think there is a misconception generally that the NHS just pays dentists a salary…here I wanted to illustrate that this is simply not the case and dentists are indeed penalised earnings wise, the longer the time they take to perform treatment and the further the number of treatment items within the band 2…
You are very right, in such instances the dental nurse (who should be paid wayyy more than they actually are) would be earning more than the dentist.

NHS dental treatment is barbaric and private dental fees are unjustifiable high. A great name for a private dentists would be "The Dick Turnip Dental Practice"

so if a dentist is in a mixed practice, would his pay be based on UDA fir the HNS stuff, then private would be paid on a 50/50 cut?

That is correct. The truth is it’s the private work that buffers the nhs work and props it up?
Otherwise there’d literally be no nhs dental practices left.
