Oh my goodness 😀 Shan your the best 🎉 ⛳That's the best explanation Thank you Shan Well guess what today I'm taking my sister and family to mini⛳ putt putt for her birthday. Thank you Shan I learned so much Your the best, can't wait till next video 😀 Kindly ALEN MELCO
Brilliant, I’ve been looking for an explanation of this for six months (since I started playing). There is so much to learn just to get the basic strokes that the various names used are pretty bewildering! Thank you so much for considering us beginners, I’m subscribing to the channel and will be watching your vids with interest. A couple of terms that seem to be used by European golfers are “fat” and “thin”! Not sure what they mean?
I'm so glad this video is helpful!! "Fat" means the club head hit the ground first, before the ball. It usually leads to a big chunk of grass taken out (aka big divot) "Thin" is the opposite. You've hit ball first and further up on the ball, often times little to no contact with the ground. The ball flight will be lower and you can feel the club vibrate back to your hand 😂
Following the rules, you should hit a second ball (called a provisional) if you think your first ball went into the woods or into someone's backyard 😂. Woods are usually out of bounds. Say you hit shot 1 into the woods, you'll be hitting 3 from the same spot as shot 1 (that's the penalty). If you didn't hit a provisional and you're playing for fun with your friends, go ahead and drop a ball close to where you think it went into the woods. No need to go back. For water hazards, there are yellow or red stakes that mark what kind of hazard. Yellow is lateral (like a creek that goes across the hole) and red is like a pond on the side of the fairway. You can drop a second ball at 1 club length distance from the point of entry, no closer to the hole. 1 stroke penalty.
Very informative. More helpful than any other beginner videos. Thank you so much Shan!
Best explanation of golf terms I’ve ever watched! Thank you!
You're welcome! 😊
There have been hole in ones on par 5s and I think they named it a "Condor". I remember reading about one in the U.K. quite a few years ago.
Wow, very cool! I just looked it up and apparently there have been 6 in the world ever
Seriously! I don’t want to doubt my compatriots but Id have to see that to believe it!
Oh my goodness 😀

Happy Birthday to your sister!! 🎉 Have fun at mini putt!
Free English lesson: You’re the best = you are the best. Your shoes, your face…. not “your” the best
This was fantastic! Love the swing illustration! Thanks 🙂

@@GolfwithShan Thank you so much for taking the time to explain ☺️
Excellent
Very nice video. I’m a beginner. What if the ball is lost in the woods or in the waterholes?
Following the rules, you should hit a second ball (called a provisional) if you think your first ball went into the woods or into someone's backyard 😂. Woods are usually out of bounds. Thanks , so is that plus 1 ?
Out of bounds is like a +2 penalty because you're hitting from the original spot, with a 1 stroke penalty.
Water hazards are +1
Condor
A hole in one on a par 5 is a condor. Another bird, go figure.
By the current terms, I would likely call a hole in one on a par five a Dodo
