    Pace of Play is very important if you are new to golf. Most people won´t care what your swing looks like or if you pick your ball up and throw it on the green. What people do care about is if you slow them down or the group behind you. Watch this video so you can cruise through the golf course like a 20 year golf vet :)
    A BIG THANK YOU to KYLA for being such a gracious host!

      Can the slower beginning group let the faster play through their hole?

    • @NannyOggins
      @NannyOggins 8 місяців тому

      We always let faster golfers play through and most are very polite and considerate about it. You do get a few rude bullies though.

    Great tips on etiquette! Typically, my husband and I write down our score right after we hit it and now we know to just do it on the next tee box. Thank you so much!

    I have to say, as a beginner I am most stressed by the pace aspect of golf, its tough to remember the basics at the moment so I rarely venture on to the course at all because of this urgency to get round. Perhaps in time I will feel more confident about it but right now Im sticking to the range and putting green unless I’m with the golf pro!

    I started learning the game only a couple of weeks ago. You are such a fantastic coach and your videos are so helpful, concise, and easy to understand. After watching your 17 fundamental ones and a few others, I feel like I am ready to go. But of course I know this will never be true, especially after watching this video. As I will turn 70 next month, what kind of shot should I start to drill on first?

    Most courses do not have starters. So it’s up to the pro shop counter person to remind groups of basic pace of play practices: ua-cam.com/video/hEweUEs2fAo/v-deo.html

    The pace of play issue is the single most infuriating aspect for a beginner player in my opinion. Why, if you have ten minutes between holes is it so necessary to speed around the course? I have seriously considered giving up the game after only six months of lessons (though the pro says I’m doing ok) because I’ve been hassled by more experienced players, yet I follow all the rules you have outlined here. Unfortunately our club doesn’t have starters or course marshals so we are left at the mercy of visitors who want to get round super fast! I must admit to being very disappointed as I have always considered golf to be the most relaxing, dignified sport 😢

    I would like to know if time per hole is the same for walking and driving? The carts can go so much faster than we can walk. Should we let them pass us? And if so what is the correct way?

    • @paulh7589
      @paulh7589 3 роки тому +1

      It's pretty easy. If they are faster, let them through. If the course is log-jammed in front of you let them know. It really boils down to simple manners.

    • @rushore1
      @rushore1 3 роки тому +1

      Believe it or not, you can be just as fast, or at least pretty close, when walking as riding when playing as two or more golfers. The reason is that two or more golfers have to share at least one cart, and that often slows golfers down because the cart can't be two places at once and many golfers don't like to walk too far from their cart (even though they should). It also takes time to park the cart and walk around greens as opposed to walking straight up to the green.

    • @robertmonroe3678
      @robertmonroe3678 Рік тому

      Brisk walkers are not necessarily slower than carts. Especially if 2 people are in the cart.
      Walking does not mean moving like a snail.

  • @steelwheels4613

    What's the best way for a marshal do to pick up the pace? Can a marshal have the slow group pick up their balls and move to the next hole? Is it better to hold them back to let other groups play through? Are par 3's better place to hold them?

    • @restey5979
      @restey5979 Рік тому

      Yes, yes they can. Depends on how busy the course is. If it's just one group being held up then having them play through would be appropriate but if its jammed up then pick up and move to the next is the request.
      Par 3s? Hmmm maybe, lots of variation depending on why the play is slow. We have some par 3s that can really crash your card and slow you down.

    Slow play ruins golf.
    Slow players DONT keep up with the group in front of them.
    Slow players are not ready to shoot, putt, drive when it is their turn.
    Slow players linger on the tee.
    Slow players are part of a gaggle looking for their partner’s ball.
    Slow play is bad etiquette.

    walkers should have their own times or days. i can't stand waiting forever just for a dude to get to the ball. especially with groups or someone clearly sucks. i use karts to spare my own time as well as everyone else. (good golf etiquette).....you should see in ohio, yer lucky if players have any etiquette. i'm not talking just on walking, but i mean waiting in general. and there are no rangers to push people along. if courses are so concerned about etiquette and manners, than alcohol should not be allowed. be a drunk loser at the bar or at home.
