Excellent tips!! I'm a lifelong Windows user who just pulled the trigger for an M1 MacBook Air.. To say that Macs are different from PCs is an understatement. I customized my MacOS extensively, but I wrote down at least 9 tips from this video that I'll be applying. @@zeppelin0110 lol, I am typing from a MacBook pro-2015... intel based. I am not a fan of M1, and as far as I am concerned they have years to go before I'll even consider it. Having been in IT for 25 years, I have used all of them... Linux for servers, windows for desktop and servers, and mac for playing around mostly lol.. I like how photoshop runs on a mac. I am fond of Mac Pros and own a few older ones. I still wouldn't mind getting like a 2012 12 core or 8 core spec'd out with 64GB of ram and an SSD... but I no longer have a lot of time to play anymore, 90% of my time is working and for that, I use an intel based windows desktop.
Very useful. I find "looking over someone else's shoulder" when they use a computer so very helpful. Almost always other people do things other ways and there is always something to learn. Thanks !

I realized recently that it isn't that I don't have enough time to do things, but that I need to become more efficient in the things I do every day. I knew I needed to know more about my Mac bc I knowwww it's way smarter than what I see and how I use it. & WOW, the first two tips ALONE are a game CHANGERRRR. THANK YOU SO MUCH❗❗🥲
TIP: leave floating thumbnail for screenshots on, and have Yoink show in the lower righthand corner when you "drag." NOW, when you take a screenshot - immediately grab the floating thumbnail and drop the screenshot onto Yoink. You now have immediate access to use your screenshot in whatever App or document you were going to use the screenshot for.
I have a 12 pro. 2 Apple TVs 4k 2 home pod minis. a Apple Watch a iPad Pro 12.9 car play & finely added a MacBook Pro. M1. I appreciate this video a lot. im pretty tech savvy being a Veriozn rep of 9 years. I learned a lot. thank you.
Hi. I am really the new one using Mac, always was on Windows. Thank you for your tips! Found some of them useful for me and immediately applied for my Mac. Especially loved the Hot corners, just made the left bottom corner for hiding all windows on screen, it's very useful and it takes one second especially when someone unexpectedly interrupts me or when I sit somewhere outside. Thank you for your video-lesson!
This video was so perfect for me. I’m about to purchase my first ever Mac, MBP to be specific, and I will need all of the MacBook languages and jesters to get used to. Like what does the control, options and cmd buttons do when pressed? Or what happens when pressed together with other buttons? I have a lot to learn.
Just wanted to say thanks for adding the chapter breaks to the time scrubber... Works great even on my iPad! I pretty much already do everything you suggest here, but was not aware of how to automatically remove the shadow from screenshots, or save them as JPGs; those 2 tips are going to save me a ton of time!! (I actually was not aware of CMD-SHIFT-5!! Being able to repeatedly take a screenshot of the same part of the screen will also save me tons of time!)
thanks! i just upgraded from a mid-2012 pro and want to maximize my experience. this is a great video showcasing features that are completely new to me
Returning to macOS after a few years away. Fortunately, your vid helped restore some of my faith. Straight outta the box my new MacBook Air has been a pain in the arse. But quite a few of these tips have brought back the functionality I remember.
I have a different idea regarding tap to click. I actually prefer the default, the push click. Because I don’t need to need to lift my finger when I want to click.
One of the first things I do with the Dock is very similar to your setup. First, I strip almost everything off of it. Then, I move it to the right side. I find right better than left, because by default many apps hug the left edge on first open-which activates the Dock when you try to close the window! I also hide the Dock, turn on max magnification, and make the dock size as small as possible. This means that even if I accidentally activate it trying to get to drives & whatnot on the right hand side of the desktop, it's usually very small and I can still continue with whatever without the dock getting in the way. Finally, I actually create folders in my ~ directory that are for aliases to apps, grouped by what I find logical (social media, Internet, Productivity, Development, Entertainment, and so on), and add aliases from Applications into the proper folder, and then put those folders on the dock. I just find it much easier to locate most apps that I use a lot that way, and it keeps the Dock a lot less cluttered overall.
interesting about the dock. but i stopped using the dock (or start menu for windows) ages ago.... spotlight search / start menu search. you literally start typing the app and boom its there. docks are obsolete
As a Windows user this is the first and by far the best ever Tips and Tricks guide that I could ask for. A big Thank You ! It's wonderful to have such an insight into the operation of such an extensive (much like Windows) operating system.
I often get frustrated when hearing unsophisticated Mac users complain about MacOS. These tips are really well curated to get started using a Mac the right way immediately👌
@@Oleg__ I disagree, I often come to their videos precisely because they offer 2160p 60FPS HDR... They should offer the best quality and UA-cam should take care to tone it down to play on everyone's computer's. After watching one video in HDR you will feel sad to have to watch others without HDR... 60FPS is also very nice on the eyes
@@untitledsurfer8503 Do you disagree that the biggest techno-youtubers don't shoot at 60fps? This is a fact, try to discuss it with them. Do you disagree that my computer does not handle 1080p at 60fps - this is also a fact. Resolution is much more important than fps, but I have to drop it down to 720p. In addition, judging by your comment, I get the impression that you are one of those people for whom specifications are much more important than the very essence and usefulness of information.
This is an awesome video. However, you should remember a lot of us are new users and have no idea where things are. I had to google where to find the Finder preferences because you wouldn't say where it was hehe. Cheers!
I wouldn't personally apply all those tips you showed (specially the ones that are behind a paywall), but most are very useful I will definitely enable them once I can afford an M1 Mac. I'll make sure to save this video to my Favorites section. Thanks!

Great video, I like it, but I completely disagree with saving screenshots as JPG. JPG is good for photos but totaly not suitable for screenshots, because it blurs text and doesn’t like sharp edges in general. You should also compare file size withou shadow, becuase PNG doesn’t like gradients
Very informative thx. I'm moving from Win 10 Pro to a macOS on an M1 14 Pro. I find macOS very dated and cartoon like with colors too similar to what I left on my 2005 PowerBook 13. It could be a deal breaker for me. It looks like a kids OS. Windows 10 Pro icons are clean and modern as well as highly customizable. Are there any options that change the look of macOS?

I'm trying to find a tutorial for Mac Beginners because I'm thinking of moving from Windows to Mac OS (I have an iPhone so it's the best if I move to a OS that has the best features for continuity) for a very long time and the M1 chip is the reason why I decided to switch now, and this video is a huge help! 💙
No idea how you can enjoy the trackpad speed set to 9, If I breathe the cursor moves. 6 is a good sweet spot for me. Also, I bought yoink and airbuddy2 and I love them both!
When I set up a Mac, I go to System Preferences > View > Organize Alphabetically. I also alphabetize items in the Dock. I select Space Gray Pro as my Desktop.
That's not true. It's automatically changed to use 4 fingers swipe up mission control. When you enable 3 fingers dragging, everything that previously was a 3 fingers gesture becomes a 4 fingers gesture.
Spotlight is, by far, the most useful tool on macOS. It replace half of the tips you mentioned if you use it in the right way.... I teach macOS at college level.

Thanks for this tutorial. After using Windows my whole life I decided to change things up and switch to a Mac 2 years ago, I'm a little less lost now.
Very useful. I find "looking over someone else's shoulder" when they use a computer so very helpful. Almost always other people do things other ways and there is always something to learn. Thanks !
Just switched from a PC to a Mac and this video changed my life...subscribed!!!
Just picked up the MacBook Pro 2 days ago, this video is perfect!
If you don’t mind sharing, what specs did you settle on for your MBP? I’m about to purchase my first ever Mac and just want a good idea of specs to go with. Thanks in advance. 👍🏾
@@dudurty0652 that usually depends on what your doing. Editing videos, making podcasts, office work
@@jake_lacroix5417 ... I don’t do any heavy stuff like video editing, video rendering or podcasts. Mainly office work, watching videos and movies. What I have now in my shopping bag is: M1 8 core CPU/GPU, 16 core Neural Engine, 16GB Unified Memory, 512 GB SSD (might reduce to 256 because I have a 1TB external SSD). I know I may not need that much right now, but I would feel better to know that its there should I ever venture off into some extreme projects.
@@dudurty0652 I'm picking that up for my bday as well, it's really good

Jeff your voice is instantly familiar & comforting. 😊
WOWWWWW already the first two tips just blew my whole mind 😭😂😂 and I've had my macbook for a year and a half now, that's crazyyyyy. THANK YOU SO MUCH❗❗🥲
I’m getting a new Macbook this month! I’m hoping to learn something new from this helpful UA-cam video
I learned a lot. thank you.
You might be in need of a hacker I strongly recommend @Quicklink02 via IG to fix your problems.....
Just got my Mac a week ago and i wanted to change the Mac's name to mine but couldn't find how. This video helped in like 5 secs. Thanks!
“Without further ado, let’s get started, but first, a word from our sponsor”
You shouldn’t ever worry about how people respond to how you speak. You are smart, successful and provide great information.
I remember that feeling when I bought my first Mac in 2008. You are going to have a lot of fun discovering and learning new things in macOS. Enjoy!
@@DanMills7 ....... Thank You! I am so looking forward to the experience. 😁
@@dudurty0652 hey, can you tell me how your experince was?
As a lifelong windows user who just bought my first macbook, this video was just what I needed. Thank you so much!!!!!!
Love the quality, love the voice, love the tips!
Hate the ads 😭
his voice is whiny af
that getting rid of hovering screenshots in the corner is nice, never knew you could do that. Very helpful!
I just upgraded to a new MB Air and this video was extremely helpful! Thank you!
what an excellent video on updates using Mac for 12 yrs and learned something new
Just wanted to say thanks for adding the chapter breaks to the time scrubber...
My M2 MacBook Pro got delivered today and this was the first video I watched after setting my Mac, thanks a lot for the tips.
Great tips! I am surprised that changing the wallpaper is not one of them, that’s what I would personally do first.
thanks! i just upgraded from a mid-2012 pro and want to maximize my experience. this is a great video showcasing features that are completely new to me
not gonna lie, when you talked about yoink i was baffled about the extra steps someone would take, instead of just ctrl x it
I agree, on the pad pro it is old to have but om the macbook it’s much easier to go without. Personally for me that is
Returning to macOS after a few years away. Fortunately, your vid helped restore some of my faith. Straight outta the box my new MacBook Air has been a pain in the arse. But quite a few of these tips have brought back the functionality I remember.
I have a different idea regarding tap to click. I actually prefer the default, the push click. Because I don’t need to need to lift my finger when I want to click.
same.... tap to click is annoying.
One of the most helpful videos I have found for setting up my Mac. Thank you!
As a first time mac user at age 31 this video was very appreciated. Alot of great stuff. Thank you!
As a Windows user this is the first and by far the best ever Tips and Tricks guide that I could ask for.
A big Thank You ! It's wonderful to have such an insight into the operation of such an extensive (much like Windows) operating system.
I changed the minimise windows using option from Genie effect to Scale effect and it minimises quickly. Thank you. More blessings.
love this one!
Finally!!!!!! Was waiting for this. Pretty good length of the vid too. Thanks.
I often get frustrated when hearing unsophisticated Mac users complain about MacOS. These tips are really well curated to get started using a Mac the right way immediately👌
2160P 60FPS HDR 💯🔥
I know, right?!
The quality settings are littered with numbers 😂
Ah, my iPad can’t play even 1440p 😔 (maximum 1080p)
Thanks!
Thank You!!!!! I just bought my first Mac after 30ish years of using a PC. It is a strange transition but your video made it easier. I will be watching more. Thank You!!!

You can also avoid that screenshot shadow by holding Option when you click to take the picture. Sometimes you want a shadow, why break it in Terminal :)

nice tip !! thx
Lots of new stuff, cheers Jeff.
a MacBook user for 4 years, and that was verrry useful. THANKYOU!
Great video, I like it, but I completely disagree with saving screenshots as JPG. JPG is good for photos but totaly not suitable for screenshots, because it blurs text and doesn’t like sharp edges in general. You should also compare file size withou shadow, becuase PNG doesn’t like gradients
thanks for the tip
Great tips….. just switched from Window to the new iMac all in one 2023 about 1 month ago!
After switching to MacOs very recently (long time Windows user), this video was very helpful. Thank you

No idea how you can enjoy the trackpad speed set to 9, If I breathe the cursor moves. 6 is a good sweet spot for me. Also, I bought yoink and airbuddy2 and I love them both!
I've been using Macs for years, but learned a lot from this video from you. Thanks! (I just bought Yoink for Mac and iOS :-)
When I set up a Mac, I go to System Preferences > View > Organize Alphabetically. I also alphabetize items in the Dock. I select Space Gray Pro as my Desktop.

I wouldn't mess with the library folder unless you know what you are doing
The most useful tutorial for MACOS beginners!
Note: enabling 3 finger dragging messes with the 3 finger swipe up mission control. have to re configure again in track pad in system preferences.
That's not true. It's automatically changed to use 4 fingers swipe up mission control. When you enable 3 fingers dragging, everything that previously was a 3 fingers gesture becomes a 4 fingers gesture.

@@jigmesherab9708 You don't have to re-configure it, it's automatically done for you. 4 fingers instead of 3
