Adding more RAM truly does make the potential limitless, and I highly recommend it if you have a platform old enough (like mine, with processors and a motherboard from ~2011 for DDR3 ECC RAM) for the RAM to be cheap. Wow it didn't even feel like 41 minutes...
      probably because Captain Disillusion added a friction-less condenser for a time-warp in his video... I expect no less from our Captain, but how the hell did he get his hands on a cradmum garnet to use with a high-pressured silicon as base for the conductor... and if you're thinking "Why the hell would you need a conductor? Just connect the condenser to the visual display and you're good to go!" ofc he'll need to protect the fragile electronics from excessive heat... caused from the time difference, you know, the wall of standby, motionless but gathering enormous heat... c'mon that's stuff you learn in the 3rd grade...
      anyway... so far I know, you won't find any cr-mum around this section of our galaxy, it's really rare... and don't get me started with the whole time-faze issue, like when he doesn't properly calibrate the video progress with the stamps on the condenser, that'll collapse the whole video and turn it into a fuzzy mess... either that or his ship blows up...
      but obviously he figured all that out already and took precautions, he's Captain Disillusion after all!

    This presentation captures really well some of the joys of open-source. Building strange things for your own peculiar, particular use. Professionalization is alienating. The tool is a black box, the end product is meant for someone else. Open-source allows for a sort a artisan joy, an identification with both the process and the end product. Which isn't really a product. Because it's not something meant to be consumed or another black-box meant for someone to use further. It's its own thing.

    I think the most interesting thing about captain disillusion is how he likes to keep the illusion of himself. I mean I get it, the Disney land effect, never let anyone see behind the curtain, but that’s the point of this channel, to look behind the veil of special effects and yet I think he’ll ever reveal himself in a way. Like we’ll never get him putting on or taking off the makeup, or we’ll never see him out of character in the costume, unless it’s relevant to the story he’s telling like shown in this presentation.

    • @Cooe.
      @Cooe. 5 років тому +8

      @@mikakorhonen5715 False. If you're going to be animating anything, both Maya and Blender are far, FAR superior to 3DS Studio Max. There's a reason, Autodesk has been depreciating the use of 3DS in areas like game development in favor of Maya, and it's because it's not particularly well suited (versus those other applications) for those kinds of uses.

    • @chosenideahandle
      @chosenideahandle 5 років тому +6

      @@mikakorhonen5715 the 3DS Max modifier system is archaic and can't be compared to a regularly maintained modern architecture like Blender enjoys. It's the Achilles heel that will having you crashing Max and your system until you want to chuck your machine out the nearest window. I was a Max artist for 20 years (I was a LightWave user before that), it's garbage built on top of two decades of garbage because Autodesk won't commit to the resources to rewrite it. Even if they wanted to rewrite it, it would break all those third party plug-ins built on the garbage heap. Autodesk doesn't develop Max, plug-in developers are relied upon to innovate for them. It's not just my experience, but Autodesk is actually here where I live. Being a 3D artist, I have made it my business to know what they're doing. You mention support? You're screwed expecting help from Autodesk when you have that deadline and Max is crashing. Max is reliant on dozens of third party plug-ins to accomplish anything professional, and Autodesk isn't going to lift a finger to help you if you have any of those installed on your machine. They will simply tell you to call your plug-in developer, if you're lucky enough to know which one is causing the problem. Bender can do anything that Max does without plug-ins, and it'll often look better as well. Support? Blender has the Blender Network for professionals using Blender, and you can email developers directly at the Blender Foundation. Blender has a stigma because it's free, and unfortunately because of misinformation spread by the uninformed. I'm primarily a C4D user, because it's the standard within the area I work in, but studios are slowly beginning to adopt Blender for commercial work. I have no doubt it will be common to find Blender installed on at least one or two machines in most studios one day. About a dozen studios were using Blender as their primary 3D tool five years ago, I wouldn't be surprised if that number hasn't doubled by now.
